Amazingly summarizes how God would do it! Or rather I should say, how he does it...that is how He relates to us and how we respond. I fully believe anyone who says that they are a follower of Christ and His example will be able to embrace this book, it's principles and see amazing results. Now, remember that Christ warns us "in this world there will be troubles"...but he also promises in John 10:10 "life and life to the full." This book has truths that can help any parent learn to love and cherish their children (instead of tolerating them), put the battles behind us that are so often completely unnecessary, and live out Christ's promises to a world that so desperately wants what He offers.
UPDATE 5/25/2012: Not just for the kids!!! The Lord has used this book in peoples lives from my LifeGroup to transform them! One couple in particular, while going through this book, had such revelation about their own growing up experience that they were truly transformed and able to seek restitution with their parents and tremendously strengthened their marriage as they now are a unified front. Really cool. I've given away 15 or so copies to people in my church, and families that are reading and applying it are seeing dramatic results...amazing things the Lord can do when we simply follow and obey.
This was a really good book, and I particularly liked the first half. It made me feel hopeful that I can make some positive changes in my relationships with my tweens to help ease the teenage years.
I love the simple ideas he gives to build a strong relationship with your children. As I have tried to better in them, I have seen a positive difference in my kids.
This is a book worth reading for young parents who want to make a change or to those don't know what to do anymore. It's got great information and a lot of examples. I recommend it!
