Look out! Nibbles the book monster has munched his way through this book of numbers! Count along with him as he chomps his way from one to ten … but wherever will he go next?
Emma Yarlett graduated with honors in illustration from University College Falmouth in 2011. Her other work includes a nonfiction book by Julia Donaldson and animation for the Waterstones Children’s Book Award.
My daughter loves the Nibbles series. She doesn't enjoy this one as much as the others. It is much simpler but is a great introduction to Nibbles for a younger reader--probably age 1
This is what turned my family on to the Nibbles books and Emma Yarlett. It is SUCH a super fun book to both read and let the kids read back to you. The rhyming makes it easy to mimic and the colors pop off each page. One of our favorites!
Our favorite little monster, Nibbles, taking big hunky chomps out of the numbers read on each double page all the way up to 10. As the reader turns each page there are little bite marks that add up to the total or numbers on the page. One bite for the number one, two bites for the number two, and three bites for the number three. Each number fold out displays the written and numeric version of that particular number. These books are always fun and feel like a little adventure and contain a great rhythmic pattern. The bites are actually cut outs in the shape of chomps that can be felt.
We fell in love with the original Nibbles book Nibbles: The Book Monster. But, this book is equally as cute and actually a bit easier to grab for bedtime since it is shorter. A great way to review numbers before setting the littles off for counting sheep.
Nibbles is a book eating monster, and now he’s been set loose in this board book of numbers! As he eats his way through the numbers 1-10, the narrator tries to catch him to no avail. Each number’s page has that same number of bite marks cut out of the page, which gives it a fun interactive element that kids will enjoy.
Nibbles is at it again! We love naughty Nibbles, and the trouble he gets into. In this book he is nibbling his way through a book about numbers. It’s a super cute story for both my almost 8 year old and my almost 8 month old!
This is a super cute counting book - the concept, rhymes, and artwork are a lot of fun. I didn't realize Nibbles was part of a series, so I'll have to look for the other ones. This one is short but sweet, which is great for smaller children/bedtime.
Not as good as Nibbles Colours. You can tell that it was commissioned afterwards, and attempts the same humour, but just doesn't work as well. Nibbles is a fun character, and it's a nicely made physical book though
Kids LOVE. Youngest likes feeling the holes where nibbles bit the numbers. Oldest likes counting the holes that correlate to the numbers. Good bedtime book.
