திருவரங்கன் உலா என்ற ஸ்ரீரங்கஸ்வாமி​யை ​மையமாகக் ​கொண்ட அற்புத சரித்திர புதினம். 14-ம் நூற்றாண்டில் நிகழ்ந்த அற்புதமான சம்பவங்க​​ளை ஆதாரமாக ​கொண்டது. இந்நூலில் விவரித்துள்ள பல சம்பவங்கள் நம்​மை மிகவும் ஆச்சர்யபட​வைக்கும். ஒரு சமுதாயம் அந்த நாளில் தான் ​கொண்ட ஒரு நம்பிக்​கைக்காக எவ்வளவு தூரம் ​போராடியது என்ப​த​னை ஆசிரியர் மிகவும் ஆழ்ந்து விவரித்துள்ளார். இந்நூல் முதல் இரண்டு பாகங்கள் திருவரங்கன் உலா என்றும், மூன்று மற்றும் நான்காவது பாகங்கள் உப தலைப்பாக மதுராவிஜயம் என்று ஆசிரியர் ​பெயரிட்டுள்ளார்.

கலாரசிகன் : யாரவது ஒருவருடைய இழப்பு என்னை அடிக்கடி விசனப்பட வைக்கிறது என்றால் அது ஸ்ரீ வேணுகோபலன் என்கிற புஷ்பா தங்கதுரையுடையதுதான். எனக்கு மட்டுமல்ல, ‘சிங்கப்பூர்’ ஏ. பி. ராமன், நீதிபதி புகழேந்தி முதலிய நண்பர்கள் புஷ்பா தங்கதுரை என்கிற ‘ஸ்ரீவே’ இல்லாததைத் துயரத்துடன் உணர்கிறார்கள் என்பது நிஜம்.. இப்போது ‘ஸ்ரீவே’ பற்றி எழுதுவதற்கு இரண்டு காரணங்கள் உண்டு. முதலாவது காரணம், நர்மாதா பதிப்பகத்தார் ஸ்ரீ வேணுகோபாலனின் தலைசிறந்த படைப்பான ‘திருவரங்கன் உலா’ புத்தகத்தை அற்புதமாக பதிப்பித்திருப்பது. About the author

Sri Venugopalan, whose literary craftsmanship allowed him to straddle two genres — serious literature and popular fiction under the name Pushpa Thangadurai

A native of Kizhanatham village in Tirunelveli district, he worked briefly with the postal department, before resigning to become a full-time writer.

He was prolific and penned everything, from short stories and novels to essays, television serials and plays.

His novel ‘Oru Oothappu Kanchimitukirath’ was made into a film, and two of his songs, ‘Andavan Illa Ulagam Yethu’ and ‘Nalla Manam Vaazhga,’ with music scored by Dakshinamurthy, became unforgettable melodies for many fans. A voracious reader with an avid passion for astronomy, Sri Venugopalan’s collection of books was a bibliophile’s envy.

If the name Sri Venugopalan and his novels, including ‘Nee En Nila’, ‘Nanda En Nila’, ‘Thiruvarangan Ula’ and ‘Madura Vijayam,’ appealed to lovers of serious literature and received appreciation from no less than a person like late critic and writer C.S. Chellappa, the pen name Puspha Thangadurai struck a chord with the common man.

“‘Thiruvarangan Ula’ was so popular, the Vaishnavites in Srirangam honoured him by taking him in procession on an elephant,” said Tirupur Krishnan, editor of Tamil literary magazine ‘Amudhasurabhi’

What a novel ... though the first part was bit boring in the middle , the second one was of great speed.
More than the story the details given for the background happening makes us go to the era.
As well the book made me realise why the great architecture that was developed 1000 years before could not flourish after that. when did we guys miss it ... great novel and hats off for writing such a novel and the study done for the plot and details ...

The novel made me cry at parts thinking of the sacrifice done by so many people for the love of god that they had

இந்த புதினத்தை வடித்திட்ட திரு ஸ்ரீவேணுகோபாலன் அவர்களுக்கு என் மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகள். இந்த புத்தகம் என் கைகளுக்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தவிதமே சுவாரஸ்யமான அனுபவம், எல்லாம் அந்த ஸ்ரீ ரங்கனின் மகிமை. அந்த காலகட்டத்தில் ரங்கனுக்காக நடந்த போராட்டம், தியாகம், அன்பு, பாசம், வெறி,பக்தி , மரியாதையை நினைக்கையில் கண்ணீர் பெருகியது. அப்பப்பா! என்ன ஒரு அன்பு!! இக்காலத்திலும் நினைத்து பார்க்க முடியாத ஒன்று. எனக்கும் அந்த ஸ்ரீ ரங்கநாதரை தரிசிக்க வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்ததை எண்ணி சந்தோஷப்படுகிறேன். அந்த புனித மண்ணில் காலடி வைத்ததை எண்ணி பெருமைகொள்கிறேன். வரலாறு முக்கியம், அதுவும் நம் முன்னோர்கள் செய்த சாதனை பல. அவற்றை அறிந்து தெரிந்து புரிந்து மரியாதை செலுத்துவோமாக .
