When her career is knocked off track in retaliation for her efforts to expose a dangerous plot by high-ranking government officials, reporter Danielle Carver moves to a small town in Oregon.
Upon hearing about mysterious men living in the mountains nearby, she decides to investigate, and when she is taken captive she has the chance for the story of a lifetime… if she survives.
This feelt like an eoritca that was way to long. The idea of it was interesting but I quickly lost interest as its just smutt, lust, stupid decision and problematic talk. It could have worked if it was less on somethings and more of an actual emotional contact and feelings.
I ended up skimming through majority of this story. The whole precipe of "evolved cavemen" was redundant and ridiculous. The h, Dani, was TSTL. She's supposedly has survivalist training but considers sleeping in a tent, under a tree, during a severe thunderstorm, safe.. It was lighting. She's under a tree! Then she fills her canteen with water from a lake. She doesn't bother to purify the water first. Nope! Ms. Wanna be Bear Grylls just starts chugging the water down! And on top of everything, for the love of my sanity and the respect of our Armed Forces, a Marine Is Not A Solider. Marines are Marines! Soldiers are Army.. If you're gonna write about them, use one as a character, do your research. Know the difference. On top of everything else, the ending made no absolute sense.
Our heroine, a reporter, goes looking for four mysterious men in the remote woods. Can you guess where this is going?
This is an erotic reverse harem story featuring four rough men and elements of D/S and spankings. From a steamy standpoint, the story delivers in spades. You just have to ignore everything that our heroine says or does.
The problem is that our heroine is described as smart and resourceful, but she acts empty headed and dumb. She doesn't plan, she doesn't follow her instincts, and she doesn't listen. So we have a plot driven by stupidity. There are other ways to put out heroine in the same situation which don't require her to be stupid to achieve, so I can only assume this is lazy writing. Which is a pity, because the plot had potential
The story itself is well written, but I can't stand characters that are constantly doing the wrong thing even when they know better. Not my cup of tea.

The writing is good, the plot seemed to be shaping up well but the heroine is sh*t. I can’t enjoy a book of the heroine is a completely dumb inconsiderate wench. I made it to 43% of the book and gave up. The sex scene I did read was great and I’m sure the rest would’ve been equally great but I gave up. Nosy heroines chasing a story no matter the cost of their safety nor the lives of the very people they are having sex with but yet are set on digging dirt up on is overdone and annoying.
This was a very interesting story with storylines of secrets, danger, intrigue. 4 men. 1 woman....can they all make it work while things around them are crumbling? Loved the story. I did get a bit confuses as the story seemed to switch around a lot. I had to go back several pages a couple of times to make sure I understood what was going on but the story was still good. I totally loved the story
Read many books! Did not want to put this one down. Loved the characters, the storyline and the spice. One of the best books I have read in a long time. Have always enjoyed this author's work. Will continue to follow her. Loved it!
Reverse harem? Lol appropriate word is :gangbang. This happened daily. Danielle didn’t mind, clearly. Her friend Lisa encouraged the behavior as well. She was happy. Who are we to judge?
Odd how a book may be very well written, have an excellent overall tense & suspenseful plot, engaging heroes & an absolutely loathsome heroine (IMO). I do feel this book was very well written, I very much liked the overall plot device regarding the mystery of who the *cavemen* were, where they came from & went back to & just what they were doing. I liked the 4 main male characters, Danger, Wolf, Bronco & Cane, & I liked how the author brought out their different personalities throughout the story. I liked their interactions (both sexual & not) with Dani (heroine) & each other. Loathed & could NOT stand Dani, AT ALL. I do not understand why a heroine is built up to be intelligent, brave, intrepid, resourceful & well able to handle herself & then nearly every action or situation she flings herself into disproves every one of those traits. I really don't. I realize this is fiction & fantasy but seriously, if a heroine HAS all these traits, can way(s) not be found to place her in situations not caused by HER stupidity, lack of thought/planning, recklessness, emotionalism &/or lack of control. Which (again IMO) Dani appears to be the Queen of No Control & Recklessness, as well as numerous other character flaws. And all these flaws are explained & excused because she's a *journalist*. She's a liar: virtually everything she tells the 4 men is a lie either literally or by omission. She lies to herself: tells herself not to do something because it isn't the right thing to do & then almost immediately does it after concocting a new reason why it IS alright to do after all. I question her common sense & survival skills (literally & life): NO ONE knows anything about these 4 huge powerful men & she goes after them, ALONE, in a old vehicle that apparently doesn't have a working fuel gauge, knowing that when she's up in the mountains her phone won't work, claims to her boss (& the readers) her ex-military father trained her in survival skills & yet forgets half the proactive supplies/tools she takes with her when she needs them & her over riding thoughts & concerns are about the HOT ROUGH sex she expects to have with all 4 men she doesn't know (I realize this is the fantasy part). She makes NO attempt to control what comes out of her mouth, her emotions or her thoughts. One second she realizes how foolish she was & the very next all she thinks about is how hot the men are. She does NOT act submissive: she loves rough sex, sex with multiple partners, likes a fair amount of pain during sex, but nothing I read indicated she was submissive. Her submission was never from within HER, she always wanted the men to consensually *make* her submit. Maybe she's constantly being a bratty submissive? She's a hypocrite: she's allowed to do whatever SHE decides to do in order to obtain information about the men, who they are & what they are doing (after tracking THEM down for 2 days), but when they go through HER things & research HER background & identity, well that's just not right. I was going to stop reading at about the 50% mark because Dani's character was so loathsome (again, to ME) but I continued on to about the 85% mark & couldn't read further. The ONE thing ALL 4 men told her continually NOT to do to keep HER life & THEIR lives safe, well, of course she does. Then, it's a SHOCK to her that this attracts the attention of the wrong person. So, I don't know how it ended. I know I've gone on about Dani, but it was very frustrating for me to be reading an excellent story which was ruined (for me) by the heroine. There was quite a bit of very hot, very intense one on one & multiple partner sex which was very well written (although I am not too sure how sexy having sex in 60 degree water would be?) & sizzling. All in all, if Dani's character had not irritated me so much, I would have loved everything about this book. It had mystery, suspense, tension & sizzling sex, as well as 4 incredible huge handsome muscular heroes.

As an avid reader, and someone who devours everything Piper Stone writes, I have learned to expect the unexpected, and not everything is as it appears. Just when you ‘think’ you have the plot and characters figured out, she surprises you with twists and turns. With this story, the concept of ‘six degrees of separation’ is in play.
“Craving something sinful and sultry?”
The story is laced with secrets, mystery, suspense, danger, passion, deceit, and then throw in one adventurous woman with vivid fantasies, a mystery around four rugged men, and a trip up the mountain for a story. Dani follows these four mountain men when they come to town like clock-work for supplies and plans to write a story about who they are and what they are doing.
“Be careful what you ask for. This was their house, their rules. And she was their captive. You should be very afraid. We’re dangerous men.”
The story involves Dani being captured by Danger, Wolf, Bronco, and Cane when they rescue her from a bear attack. She is eager to make deals with them and enters into an agreement of cooking, cleaning, and whatever else—which will include spankings, discipline, and group sex scenes. But what happens with the curiosity of the reporter gets her deeper in trouble?
“Dani quivered to her core, her mind floating to the intense and delicious dream. This was like a fairy tale come true, only her price was a sexy, demanding brute. She’d always been attracted to bad boys, and the four of these men had it in spaids. Live and enjoy. This is that adventure you sought and fought for.”
The story is a reverse harem involving explicit sex scenes, group punishments, BDSM, bondage, and ménage sex scenes of five people, four men, and one woman. It is heavy on the sexual encounters.

I was granted an ARC of Piper Stone's "Captured and Kept: A Dark Reverse Harem Romance" via Booksprout; I recommend this book to others based upon its own merits. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given! Until next time... Happy Reading!
A startling hot and erotic read I love reading all of Piper Stones books not only are the plots wonderful but the also the characters are truly wonderful, a group of men that have encountered such terrible things and their lives have infringed on their families and they are trying to do everything to set them free and also to find themselves again. However, what they had not allowed for was an inquisitive journalist with the neve and guts enough to follow them into the middle of nowhere in an effort to discover the truth but what she had not allowed for was the fact that she had fallen in love with each of these wonderful men, they had worshipped her body and she in turn had loved each and every one of them. I guarantee that you will love reading this wonderful story and what they are actually doing in the mountains, however she found that the secret she’d discovered was nowhere as important as the love and devotion she felt for Danger…. The story is a reverse harem involving explicit sex scenes, group punishments, BDSM, bondage, and ménage sex scenes of five people, four men, and one woman. It is heavy on the sexual encounters. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Piper Stone a new to me author and what a roller coaster she put me on with "Captured and Kept" I was here and there and like wow. The Story has many layers and a lot going on but it flowed in detail well, it fell into scene right behind scene. so it worked. I like the news but reports not so much, laughs yeah I know, you can have one without the other. Most reporters are gifted with a set of balls and a double dose of tenacity. Dani is no different.
I have to say this was the first time a 'hero' annoyed me, I laugh now but whew! it was a time that I was way done with Danger. The back and forth personality, made me want to shake him. As the story progress,' it balances out. We all know that when its money, secret deals and government involved, it's going to be shady. Four huge men slide into town larger than life and no one knows anything about them. Well, Dani thinks to change that and make it news. Breaking down, being watched, chased by a bear and "rescued" by four males add an adventure level to Dani's life that was missing.
It was a great story a bit all over the place, but the characters were full of personality and fit the story well. Some hot scenes, a bit of danger all mixes in well to make a decent length book. I enjoyed it and do recommend it.
Sniffing the makings of a possible good story in the air, journalist Dani Carter tracks four sexy, rugged and mysterious men dubbed “cavemen” by the tongue-waggling womenfolk. Having moved into town recently, she wanted something big and juicy to report, not the boring small-town happenings she has been assigned since moving there six months ago.
Dani sets out, confident she can track and find these men wherever they were hiding in the mountain wilderness, but one event leads to another, and she is caught by them.
These men have an agenda, though, and they do not need anyone knowing what they were up to, nor do they trust her explanations as to her sudden appearance in their neck of the woods. She was trouble with a capital “T,” but they all decided to keep her with them until their job was done. Cue setting for fantasies to be explored, and things get heated quickly!
The storyline is a good one, even more elaborate than I had expected, even though there were some aspects of her personality which led to actions putting the very safety of those she claimed to care for as well as her own.
Dani is an investigative reporter and loves chasing a story down. However when she writes a story about a politician it comes back on her and she ends up doing puff pieces. Not only does she lose her position as investigative reporter being demoted to puff pieces but she learns her boyfriend has been cheating on her. Tired of the stories she's given she decides to find her own story. Especially when a friend tells her about these four gorgeous mysterious men that come to town long enough to get supplies before disappearing to wherever they live. Dani wants to do a story on these guys so she starts following them. What will she do when she's caught?
This is a steamy story that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

You need to read the authors statement about not suitable for all readers, but if that has not put you off then this is hot and I loved it!
This is a well written HEA stand-alone (although it would be interesting to see a follow up on these characters). All the characters are strong and the story pulls you along. It was impossible to put this book down.
Small spoiler Dani wanted to hide her past and start somewhere fresh but continue in journalism. In order to get a scoop she foolishly pursues four men who come into town every month at the same time and then disappear into the mountains. When she finds them, or rather captured by them, in desperation she makes them an incredible offer..

A woman reporter re-inventing herself, comes across 4 alpha men, long haired, bearded, handsome, rugged and wild. Hit by instant animal attraction and her interest captured Dani decides she needs to know more and follows them back to their lair! Things take a turn and get hairy in more ways than one! Captured, confined and offered a "deal" she accepts. Then begins her "service" to her men, Danger, Bronco, Wolf and Cane in all things! Being disciplined, ravaged and given pleasure and punishments by all 4 men is not a "hard" ship for our girl. Add in smoking hot sex/menage/spanking scenes, lust, love, danger, intrigue, conspiracy, military and government cover-ups, good guys, bad guys, and a mixture of both, and this story has it all. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Danielle(Dani) Carter was an investigative journalist about to break the biggest story ever what she didn't realise was she was upsetting the wrong people and now he career is shot. So she has retreated to a small town and is writing puff pieces for the local newspaper. This town has a mystery every few months four hunk enter town they go to the hardware, the grocery store and the liquor shop and then they disappear again Been the journalist that she is Danni has to solve the mystery. What is the mystery surrounding Danger, Wolf Bronco and Cane and what will happen when they discover her following them maybe once again she has bitten off more than she can chew. There will be plenty of steam between her and these men before the truth finally comes out
I loved this story it was very intriguing and mysterious and ended up be very sexual smutty kinky and full of love murder and heartbreak turning into happily ever after with her men and lost family members reunited.just wish there was an epilogue I would have loved to know who she married I’m almost 100% sure it was Danger the love of her life the whole reason the adventure started lol.. but did they all marry her? Along side him? Did they ever have any babies but I absolutely love Piper Stone’s stories I have read many of them and continue to read more of them as the are absolutely amazing
Dani has her eye on a story and the hots for the four silent men who come to town once a month. She has a connection with Danger when she purposely bumps into him in the store. 2 months later she determines to follow the men back to the mountains to find out who they are and what their story is. What she finds is dominance, a government secret, the love of a lifetime, and a story that makes her name famous. Great book, great writing, great characters.

Super fantastic story!!! It's got everything. Wonderful characters, suspense, funny scenes, steamy scenes, super sexy scenes and it comes with one heck of a twist at the end!!! This story sucked me in and kept me intrigued the entire time. I love the thought of four sexy cavemen having their way with their captive. It's a great read and you definitely don't want to miss it!!!

This is a good read, however, with the plot I thought that it would have been a little darker. Seemed like a lot of things went unsaid and left pretty good holes in the story as a whole. The scenes could have been quite steamier in my opinion. Is anyone else wondering what happened to the bear from early on, was he left to the animals? Skinned and used as a rug? Was there a second bear after her when she found the cave? Did Danis dad come to live with the family as well?
It was okay but these type of stories fall so close to having the same storyline. The plot was sufficient, even though the M.C was doing stupid things. The fact that Cane never gave indication that he was a bad guy was off, then close to the end we find out that he is. There was no suspicious or anything, that didn’t really make sense. Overall it was okay, similar plot to the rest.
Can't say enough how much I'm enjoying throwing myself into book after book by this amazing author who I just discovered recently by the name of piper stone. Each story is original and the characters and backstory is extremely contagious. The sex scenes satisfy my craving for major erotic action. Keep up with your writing style you are extremely talented.
The story is very good. It has lots of action and adventure. I kinda felt bad Wolf and Bronco are in the story but you don't get much about their history or their feelings... Danger also known as Drake is the main hero until the end. I wonder how her dad feels about Wolf... Danger, and Bronco who we don't learn his real name either. It is a very exciting story.
There are four hot alphas that enjoy spanking one female reporter who followed them when she shouldn’t have! Lots of secrets that are being hidden and relationships being formed. Action, sex, spankings and intrigue! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
She was out on soft job now after her last attempts to expose a sinister plot failed. She is tired of it all when she learns of strange men in the woods. She goes to find out more but they are not happy she has followed them. Soon she learns the consequences of her action. What are they? See by reading
