I bought this on Kickstarter. I own some of Godbey’s other sketchbooks, but this is a collected edition. The sketches are as promising in their first wispy stages as they are stunning in their completed forms. Though these were completed over many years, there is a wonderful continuity in style and theme. Godbey reminds me so much of John Bauer, an artist he directly references at one point. Godbey has that same ability to take natural elements and infuse the fantastical. His mastery of mood and his ability to capture expression make this a book to revisit every few months. I would love to create something half as captivating during my lifetime.
