The Wolf's Dilemma🐺🍆⛲💘

ADULT Historical Recency Shifter🐺🍆⛲ Romance 💕and Adventure with Paranormal Elements

Donovan Sinclair🐺🍆⛲ , the 8th Duke of Manchester , is descended from a line of Dukes , first cursed by an old gypsy witch a few hundred years ago. The male heirs will be afflicted with the curse of shape shifting into a wolf🐺 or other creature👹 forever. Donovan 🐺🍆⛲is a wolf shifter. several of his other noble friends are vampires! They have formed their own private club and meet sometimes in London.

Miss Alice Marrowe💃 is a woman of the gentry, but she is now an impoverished orphan at thirty and being nearly completely blind, her affliction keeps her from finding a husband worthy of her upbringing. Instead, she lives over a hat shop and works there for room and board.

When Donovan,🐺🍆⛲ running in the countryside in his wolf 🐺form, saves her from being run down by a racing curicle 🐎on the road in her small village, something thrilling passes between them.

Alice💃 can see his shape, but can't make out his face, but with his arrogant attitude and innuendos, maybe she should forget about him, and her first kiss 💋!

Donovan 🐺🍆⛲wants to become fully human by finding his true love💘 and ending the curse, but at the same time he is very reluctant to give up his wolf🐺 form and his bond with it. He is like two beings, a wolf🐺, which has its own needs, wants, desires, and personality, and his human form which has different needs and wants and personality.

Great , very ADULT Romance💕 novel with author Sookoo's putting a lot of thought into Donovan's dilemma, and thereby into the dilemma that Alice💃💋 also must face. Can she live with a wolf shifter🐺🍆⛲ if her love 💘cannot lift his curse?

I thought Alice a bit old for her part in the book.

A well written different historical romance, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I really liked both Donovan & Alice & loved how their relationship grew & changed. I’m not a fan of paranormal stories but I like the authors books so gave this a go & I’m glad that I did. I was also hooked & wondered if the curse would be broken, was it? Well you’d need to read to find out
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Donovan and Alice's Story . . .

Donovan James Arthur Sinclair, 8th Duke of Manchester, endures the ancient curse of an angry gypsy on his family line and must live his life as a wolf shifter. There are rare opportunities to break the curse, but it must meet specific criteria and happens only every 5 years under the full moon. One day while out hunting in his wolf form, he rescues a woman about to be run over by an out-of-control carriage in a rural village. Miss Alice Morrowe, is blind and no one has been interested in her for marriage. She craves acceptance. When the naked man pushes her out of the carriage’s path to safety, she is curious if her life may soon change.

Once he discovers Alice is blind, Donovan is hoping that, since she could not see his wolf form, she may accept him and perhaps break the curse at last. Alice loves from her heart. But he does not treat her with the same affection. Will she kiss him under the full moon and break the curse? Will his selfish use of her keep the curse intact? Or can they both learn that love and acceptance is the true love that will remove the curse?

DNF after skimming to 30%

I'm not sure why I'm the only person not giving this story 5 stars. I've read a handful of other paranormal historical romances (there aren't a ton of them out there) and this story is not quite hitting the mark. It feels like this author's first historical romance -- a lot of modern talk, a lot of impropriety... it just feels really inaccurate.

I quickly got tired of the entire world revolving around Alice's blindness. Her disability doesn't need to define her but in this case it does -- it seems like all they freaking talk about.

Its also pretty clear that he sees her as a temporary toy. It's hard for me to root for either of them when he seems to deserve whatever misery his "curse" gives him.

Devil Take the Duke

This book is fantastic. When I first looked at it I thought I wouldn’t read it as it was not my type of book. But I started it and then I couldn’t put it down. The Duke seemed such a genuinely kind man. The Duke was called Donovan and his friend was called Alice who was blind. On her way to work
A run away horse and carriage nearly hit her and Donovan saw
What was happening turned into a wolf and stopped the carnage. He ended up with no clothes and sat next to Alice naked. She soon found out his condition by feeling his body.
So he never made an advance toward her and off she went to work at the milliner’s shop in the village where she lived.
So soon he visited the shop and took her out. Then her close friend got married but was not happy that the Duke was there. Quite soon after Alice married the Duke , and Donovan and Elizabeth his sister took her to London to live. He had not told her at this point about him being cursed and changing into a wolf. Eventually the truth was told and they split for a few days. Alice decided to leave to live at his country property and Elizabeth went with her. On the way they heard
That Donovan had been taken, so they decided as a group
That they would rescue him. Well they found him all tied up, naked, attached to a tree. Eventually he was rescued but one of the kidnappers threw Alice into the pond where Donovan rescued her. So they travelled back to London again. After a few days he said many apologies to Alice and told her that he loved her, so they made things better and were united again.
What a fab book. I could not put it down. Xxx

What a great start for the Lords of the Night series! Generations ago, several spoiled sons of noblemen reaked havoc upon a gypsy encampment and were cursed. Each was cursed to “never live the life of a full human man. You will always be a slave to the shifter, the beast, or anomaly within”. This curse would be passed on to each male son unless they could break there curse. Every five years during each full moon there was an opportunity for that to happen. In this story Donovan, the Duke of Manchester and wolf shifter, thought he met the woman who could help him break the curse and proceeded to entice her into falling in love with him. Alice lived in the country and was afflicted with an eyesight problem that rendered her mostly blind. When Donovan, who was in wolf form at the time, saved her from an out of control vehicle, both lives changed forever. This is a story about self-worth. Donovan must come to terms with his value as someone other than a cursed and undesirable lord, while Alice must combat the notion that she is to be pitied and less worthy of a full life because of her blindness. You will find strong emotion, inner turmoil, prejudice and dastardly deeds within these pages….all leading to an ending that will leave you happy and hopeful.

GREAT WAY TO START A NEW SERIES!!! Devil Take the Duke by Sandra Sookoo is the first book in her new series Lords of the Night and I so enjoyed this this book. It is a cross between fantasy and regency. Sandra has such a creative writing style that is both intriguing and very easy to read. I can’t wait to read book 2. This story has a blind women, a duke that is cursed, attempted rape, not being accepted, wanted to be treated as a equal, turning into a wolf, being hunted, a loving sister, having dreams and falling in love. I don’t want to give to much of this book away but believe me it is a must read and I am highly recommending that you do.

Donovan, Duke of Manchester, is tormented by the generational curse of living as a wolf-shifter. His parents' marriage was destroyed because of the curse. To break the curse, a woman must love him and kiss him on the full moon. Alice is blind and accepts life as it unfolds each day. Donovan saves her life and only sees how he can use her to his advantage. Alice gives unconditional love. He sets himself up for disappointment. It is very hard to like Donovan and the way he emotionally treats Alice. Fortunately, she is very smart and puts Donovan in his place. It takes him awhile to realize he needs her if he is ever going to find peace with the man and the wolf. A little slow in the first half of the book. Fortunately, it picked up the pace to keep my focus to the finish. Interesting take on a paranormal romance and the setup for the next book in the series. No relation to the Wolfman.

A splendid paranormal romance.
Ready for some paranormal fun will this is the book to pick up! Donovan James Arthur Sinclair, 8th duke of Manchester, is a wolf-shifter who fate has a plan for. Alice is a lady whose life is passing her by who could accept a lady who is blind? Is a marriage of convenience what they both need? I loved how this was written it was easy to get completely lost between the books pages and the ending was awesome. There is a bit spice to add flavor to the tale too. I highly recommend this one I have book two also so cannot wait to dig into that one. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

Devil take the Duke ( Lord of the Nights Book 1 ) by Sandra Sookoo. Loved this book! Amazing paranormal romance about a cursed wolf shifter and a scarred blind spinster come together in this fabulous story. I don't normally read paranormal romances but this one I could not put down. Especially the narrator was amazing. Played both male and female voices at its best. You never disappoint Sandra :)

The Cursed Lords. A curse was wrought on some Lords years ago by a gypsy witch, that would follow them through eternity. Those men would never know a peaceful life but would be a shifter as well as a man. This is one of their stories! Did I get your attention? Well I have to say there is a lot more to this but I was hooked on this premise and could not wait to she what happened!!
Donovan, 8th Duke of Manchester, was a direct descendant of one of those men on that fatal day. As his story begins, we find him at night in his cursed state of a wolf who is hunting far in a small village far from his home in London. Oh yes a wolf and I am sure he was something to behold! He happens upon a lady who is about to be run over by a carriage, jumps and pushes her out of the road.
The woman is Miss Alice Morrowe, who is blind and could not see him as a wolf. As he shifts back into a human and goes to help her, it begins. This was really a fated meeting for two people who were very lonely and they needed each other, but that is not how it started for him.
What I did not tell you is there is a possible way to break the curse but it is very specific and Alice might just be the way!
There is so much to this story that will bring out many emotions and pull you into an intriguing world. Sandra Sookoo brings this tale alive with her wonderful imagination and amazing descriptive words! Prepare to be immersed until you turn the last page. Cannot wait for more in this series and you do not want to miss it!!

Donovan Sinclair and a group of his friends live with a curse brought about when a group of their ancestors created chaos in a gypsy camp. One old gypsy witch cursed the men and their male decedents to live as human and beast (of one kind or another). The curse can only be broken on a special night with a special kind of love. Donovan is the eighth Duke of Manchester. He is also a wolf shifter.

Alice Morrowe is almost totally blind. She lives in a village where she is treated as a charity case. She and Donovan meet, well sort of, when his wolf saves her from being run down by a carriage. There is an almost immediate attraction, and soon they are married. She loves him, but will she be able to break his curse? What will happen when she learns what he truly is? What will Donovan do if she runs? If she stays? The answers to these questions may surprise you. Interesting and a little unpredictable story. Likeable, curious characters. A good read.

Devil Take the Duke, the first book in the Lords of the Night series is an entertaining historical romance with fairy-tale-like elements. Sandra Sookoo has composted a beautiful tale about true love, fate, loneliness and many other emotions. The premise of the storyline is interesting, it captured my attention. The eighth Duke of Manchester, Donovan James is cursed to shift into a wolf. In such night when he is a wolf, he rescues a blind woman, Miss Alice Morrowe from a carriage. Will true love lift the curse from Donovan?

I thought Beauregard Neylon did a fantastic job with the representation of characters and their emotions. Overall, this an enchanting tale about true love and destiny, and I strongly recommend it. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I really enjoyed this romance set in 1815 England. Something a little different - a paranormal Historical. Donovan (a Duke) has been cursed to live as both wolf and man, thanks to a gypsy curse on his family many generations ago. Almost fully blind, Alice is a woman living in a small village, beholden to the charity of others after her parents passed away many years before. Our hero's wolf saves her from a carriage accident early one morning and so begins their association/romance. Slow burn for a while, then it gets really steamy. Can Alice save him from the curse? Will she run when she discovers what he is?

Nicely written and now I'm waiting to read the other books about his friends - who are also cursed, but with other afflictions (eg Merman!! 💕 Vampire!!) 🙂 4.5 stars.

After one of the most startling “cute meets” of any I’ve encountered, this story evolves into a romance between a duke desperate to end a curse and a blind, orphaned Lady who must find her own way in the world after being cast aside by her remaining family. A chance meeting brings them together and he immediately sees her courage and pluck as the woman for him to resolve his destiny. I love the way we conform to Alice’s first entry into London through sound, scent and feeling, her first tour of the Duke’s home via his sister’s tour of the rooms. And Donovan’s denial of any emotion on his part while he’s not so gradually falling in love. Even the wolf who is his curse recognizes the truth before Donovan does.

I rarely read historical romance but this story caught my attention. I also have never read any books from this author. I'm usually biased about authors but fear not Sandra Sookoo caught my attention and this book kept my attention from beginning to end! I kinda felt like I was reading about the young average girl who captures the attention of a duke. Alice is this sweet innocent strong woman who is blind, that's right, she's blind. Donovan is the ultimate carefree bachelor duke. The sparks between Alice and Donovan are incredible. The sexual heat between these two is so so hot! You will be flustered reading about these two! This is a MUST read book!

So many times I wanted to smack Donovan and I loved Alice! He had all kinds of problems he was dealing with in his own head, and sadly Alice couldn't quite help him, he had to learn to help himself. I really liked that Elizabeth had stood beside him the whole time trying to protect him. It was hard to believe some things, such as everyone "knew" without proof so it was rumors, about his affliction and didn't hunt him down. That's where being a duke helps! I liked the tease of what's coming for Rogue!

Regency with a paranormal twist, what's not to love? It started off strong with a story leading to the curse that instantly draws you in. Devil Take the Duke was so different from every other Regency and paranormal I've read. It's nice to find a good book that stands out from the rest!

Donovan is at war constantly with himself. You get really upset with him, but you still love him. Alice, that girl should be Sainted! She's wonderful!
