If you’re banished to the shadowy realm within Ripthorn Mountain, you die.
The mountain’s fractured magic seeps into the bones of humans, slowly draining the life from their bodies with every step they take. It has been a death sentence for as long as anyone in the kingdom of Nighthelm can remember.
And now, it’s Sophia’s fate.
Banished to the depths of the savage mountain, Sophia and her men are left with a choice: find their way to the surface, or die.
But there are hungry beasts in the mountain.
An ancient evil hunts Andreas, determined to end an old feud the wraith shifter had nothing to do with. And as it stalks them, ever closer, the clock is ticking for Zeke and Edric. Even with all their strength and magic, their human bodies can’t survive the mountain much longer.
But in the darkness, there’s a glimmer of light.
In the depths of the mountain, in the farthest shadow of the darkest cavern, a young woman lies suspended in glowing crystal. Wounded and bloody, the girl stokes the depths of Sophia’s memory, reminding her of another time, of a life when she wasn’t broken. Close to death and unable to move, it’s clear the girl has the answers Sophia needs.
And now, Sophia has a new choice to make—between her mission, or her men.
Her men are slowly dying. Monsters stalk her every step. But Sophia is a survivor, and she won’t let the mountain win.

Not really feeling this one. There is a lot of plot issues and gratuitous mooning over each other. These characters are suffering from a huge dose of too stupid to live. An example would be hanging around the large town you lived in where everyone is looking for you for being a traitor, but you want to go check the library to see if someone wrote down where the missing royals maybe missing at...
One example of a plot issue is There is a lot of that type of inconsistent plot device used to create drama. DNFing at 60%
On the plus side, the author did change the name of the series from Nighthelm Academy to NighthelM Guardian to better reflect what the series is actually about.
I liked the first book and assumed it was a slow burn but this one fell flat. There were a lot of missed opportunities on the romance side... other than maybe 8 pages of nearly 300 this could be a YA book. Just extremely vanilla.
The plot was ok but seemed like the characters' experience went out the window and they became very trusting out of nowhere. How many traps can you fall for?
I'll finish the series but I probably won't read the author again unless the 3rd book blows me away.
The second installment in the Nighthelm Guardian series, picks up where the first book ended. Sophia and her men have been captured and “tried” and found guilty. Her men; Edric, Andreas and Ezekiel, have been banished to the mountain. It amounts to a death sentence for them. And Sophis was sentenced to death. She escapes and follows her men into the mountain. This book details their journey to not only survive and escape the mountain, but to find the royal family while they’re there and bring them back to Nighthelm.
I did like this book, just not quite as much as the first book. It was a bit slow in places, and some exciting, fast paced fights in others. We find out a bit more of Sophia’s past and all signs point to her either being a royal herself, related to them, or aligned with them in some way. She gains more control over her magic in the mountain and actually becomes stronger there. While Andreas is fine there, Edric and Ezekiel are struggling due to the heavy magic there. It has a negative impact on humans.
There were small glimpses into the backstory of each of her men, but not much. I would have liked a bit more there. But the developing relationship between the men, who have come to think of each other as brothers, was very satisfying. There are definitely some emotional internal dialog for each of the men that describe their deep feelings for Sophia and each other. Tender and sweet.
The descriptions of the different areas of the mountain and its people were quite detailed. Sometimes, I really wish some of these fantasy type books had illustrations. It does end on a “soft” cliffhanger. I do recommend this book, and the series in general. I love this group and can’t wait to see what happens next.
Sophia and Andreas continue to gain in strength in the mountains while Ezekial and Edric get weaker. It's all pieces of the mystery of her past. I liked the glimpses that she start to get after seeing the weird lion snake thing. My only issue is that there wasn't a lot of connection to the last story so I needed to go back to the last book to better understand what was going on.
This Book Was Just As Good If Not Better Then The First One. Full Of Love And Trust And Betrayal. They Were Home Now But Were They Safe? I Can't Wait To Find Out!!!!
I’m dying to get to the next book in the series, I have so many questions I need answered and I’m loving this story. Sophia is a great heroine and I can’t wait to see where she leads her men next!
Captivating series i was unable to put it down. I usually don't like books that are incomplete. I usually wait till the whole series is published before reding. But this is well worth waiting on.
It's start from were book 1 finishes which is great no 4yr gap inbetween . The love and fear keeps you on your feet . The twisted betrayal in the middle is heart felt. Great read.
this was hard to get through, the characters are somewhat childishly written and as are the undeveloped follow through on situations and capriciousness of the characters. This doesn't have the same type of development as Ash's dragon series.
This is a book that grabs you in straight away, you bond with the heroine and want to know more... Fast ... It keeps moving. Furious.... This is one angry lady with a good soul
Such an awesome series and I can’t wait to read the next book. I already have it in my wish list. New authors are fun, sometimes, and I’m glad I tried Olivia Ash!!
This is the second series I've read of hers and I'm addicted..... I love her characters and all the action and strong women Its keeps me up for.hours reading.
Series: The Nighthelm Guardians Book 1: City Of Sleeping Gods ⭐️⭐️ Book 2: Sleeping Of Fractured Souls ⭐️⭐️ Book 3: City Of The Enchanted Queen ⭐️
So we continue on our story, now that our Harem is complete. And everyone is on the run bevause, their traitors and such. But they have to find theheirs! And Sophia is the only onewho could possibly manage. The typical, “you can;t come with me, you have lives here, I'll put you in danger” blah blah blah happens, and then the typical “we'd give up our whole livesfor you” respnse happens and then we FINALLY get on ourway to discoving what happened to their heirs. Honestly, this book felt super rushed. It was likea list of plot points that the author threw some filler between to make it read like a book. The characters still act like children, and I dont understand how none of them are dead.
I liked this continuation. The sex scenes seemed a little pushed but otherwise it was very interesting. I loved the action but I know better than to trust anyone.
This second book in the series delivers a good mix of action, adventure and romance. I really like Sophia. She is strong and determined. She wants to keep those she loves safe from the harm that surrounds them.
It is a well written story that continues to get better as the series continues and I recommend you read the books in order.
The story started out alright in the first book, even though mostly predictable. The concept I like, but it seems like in this second book, everything is rushed, sometimes help or solutions appear like magic (or the MCs are extremely lucky) and when the need is great the M.C. simply becomes this super-powered chick. I mean, come on, make it a bit more credible. The second half of the book at least needed to be rewritten, cause there were instances I was asking the author in my head "What are you, 12?". I'll read the last book when it comes out, out of curiosity to see how the story ends. Pity, cause the story started off real promising and then it kind of felt like the author got bored and just tried to fill the pages in the second half of this book.
You need to have read the first book of the series to know what is going on . So I recommend reading that before this one. Action packed and adventurous for the avid reader. Looking forward to book 3.
I enjoyed the second book in the series, but it felt like the sex scenes were just that, sex scenes. Like Sophia was required to have sex with all three of her men or the book was incomplete. Other than that, the book had a lot of action. Impossible battles might have been a little too easily won, but the new beings that the group met were interesting. I can't wait to find out who the Nameless Master is, or who Sophia really is for that matter. The search for the heirs continues, and apparently three Duchess may need to be rescued. I am sure there will be time for some sex, too. Lol. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
