Hunter Hunterson and his kin live in Slayerville, KY, making their living chasing crack-smoking ogres, peeping-tom phantoms, bail-jumping zombie pimps and the occasional rabid unicorn. When a methed-out vampire (and family friend) goes on a road-trip rampage, Hunter and his kin pack up the truck and follow the trail of corpses all the way to San Francisco. This reality-TV style story feels like a combination of Dog the Bounty Hunter meets Ghostbusters meets The Beverly Hillbillies. Hunter's war journal is a mix of tawdry laughs and gut-churning horror.
Three hunting tales, presented together for the first time ever: • The Case of the Methed-Out, Parole-Jumping Vampire • The Case of the Moving-In Blues • The Case of the Haunted Safeway

January 28, 2019: Release the rabid unicorns!: The first Hunter Hunterson collection is out, and we hope you enjoy it. I have had so a ton of fun writing these stories for various anthologies over the years. I have tried to create a family drama that's part horror, part crass humor, part excitement and all heart. If I've done my job right, this is a family that you'll get behind and root for.
I'll use my review here to keep you updated on any developments with this collection, and, hopefully, further developments on the series.
As per usual, Scott Sigler mixes horror and humor with excellent results. I can’t wait to read more Hunter Hunterson and Sons. The audio version is definitely a must have. Get as soon as you can get out of the way of that rabid unicorn!
I really do love all of Scott Sigler's work. :) I was beyond thrilled when this showed up as I loved reading (hearing) the tales in the short story compilations. My hope is to get many more Hunter Huntersons. :) My only issue was a tad of what I saw as inconsistency. The last story never mentioned one character (a son) and had all the kids two years younger. If this had been the first ever and had been told before their move it would work. But it really is so very enjoyable.
I really didn’t know what to expect to read in this novella. I sure didn’t expect to read about ghosts and goblins and such. The book was great!! I look forward to the next installment to see what plays out with Hunter’s oldest son.
These stories are fun all the way around. And it is great to finally have them in one collection. I know that Scott Sigler has big plans for these characters so here is hoping that the family who hunts together gets many more stories together.
I have read/listened to these stories before, but I still love them. They may suffer from being in one collection, as there is some repetitiveness in the family structure and background. Read by the author though, so that is fun!
