Rate this book
The first three books in the bestselling "Lies" Mystery Series!

His great-grandfather stole it 85 years ago... Now they want it back! One crime, committed decades before Del Honeycutt was born, changes his uneventful life to one of mystery and adventure--and pairs him up with bestselling mystery author Sabrina Spencer. In Books 1-3, Del and Sabrina try to solve the 85-year-old mystery; lock horns with a serial killer; and find themselves in a desperate race to rescue five kidnapped girls.

ALL LIES

A seemingly innocent date gone tragically wrong plunges Del Honeycutt into a web of murder, lies, greed, and a hidden fortune dating back to a crime committed 85 years earlier by his great-grandfather.

Accompanied by Sabrina, the sister of Del's brutally murdered date, a violent journey of discovery and fear begins. Pursued by vicious killers intent on eliminating anyone with knowledge of the 85-year-old crime, their only hope of survival is to find the reason behind the original crime and why, decades later, someone is still willing to kill to keep it hidden.

But Sabrina is concealing a monstrous lie of her own. Is she who she says she is?

FATAL LIES

She was murdered ... twice!

Daisy Leduc was forgotten and alone. That was just how she wanted it. But when she is discovered stabbed to death in a dusty little Texas town, it plunges Del Honeycutt and bestselling mystery author Sabrina Spencer into a 30-year-old mystery involving murder, hidden identities, dangerous family secrets, political intrigue, and a long-forgotten serial killer.

When they discover that Daisy, under a different name, supposedly died 30 years earlier, they find themselves squarely in the crosshairs of killers whose deadly secrets lie in Daisy's mysterious past.

VEGAS LIES

Five teenage girls from a small town in Oregon disappear without a trace.

Were they kidnapped, or have the five friends perpetrated a massive hoax? Nine hundred miles away in Las Vegas, a woman with a dark secret vanishes on her way to meet friends for dinner.

Those friends are Del Honeycutt and bestselling mystery author Sabrina Spencer, in Las Vegas for a book convention. As Del and Sabrina investigate their friend's disappearance, they are convinced that she has been abducted, and they begin to uncover the secrets that might have triggered her abduction, secrets that now put Del and Sabrina's lives in jeopardy.

When clues indicate that the five missing girls might also be in Las Vegas, the situation takes a new turn, directly into the unthinkable.

Once again, Del and Sabrina find themselves in deep trouble and marked for death, and they only have a few hours to solve the case or their friend and the five young girls will be gone forever.

Amazing mystery books!

These three novels were a lot of fun to read, with plots that were all interesting and a very good written style. The progression went something like "Indiana Jones" style, to twisted family (in the worst possible way) and finally a very tough topic to read; but fantastically handled by the author. These novels have a bit of everything: tension, humor, eye rolling twists at time, gur wrenching events, etc.

Highly recommended. These were definitely some of the better mystery novels I have read in a while.

A great series!

"I come from a long line of idiots…" What a wonderful opening line! And all that followed didn’t disappoint — likable quirky characters and well-written entertaining plots with unexpected twists. All three books are page-turning reads. There’s just enough humor and romance to give the reader time to catch a breath. Highly recommend!

A good set of 3

For me, the set of three is enough. I know there's more, but by the end of book 3, I was tired. Tired of Sabrina's fabulousness, tired of Del's inability to believe this girl really loves him, tired of police who allow simple citizens to run wild investigating dangerous situations, often breaking laws in the process. Sabrina's willingness to help Daisy in book 2, and her dogged determination to set things right is commendable, although hard to rationalise. In book 3, especially, when Sabrina teams up with Mo, I knew they would have to get the better of three burly captors, two of whom had their guns out (!) but then they carelessly allow themselves to be recaptured in the very next scene. Duh, we all knew there were more bad guys out there! After enjoying books 1 and 2, I was looking forward to the third. Four stars for the set is probably a little generous.

This was the best I have read in some time.
Beautiful mystery author Sabrina gets together with a middle aged, normal looking (and rather boring seeming) Del to solve crimes.
In the first book, Sabrina and Del meet when someone wants back something Del's great-grandfather stole over 80 years ago, which also involves one of Sabrina's ancestors.
In book two, someone from Sabrina's more recent past is murdered, but apparently was already murdered 30 years ago? That needs investigating.
Five young girls are kidnapped at around the same time the partner of one of Del's friend disappears - of course the couple need to find out what happened.
This on the surface rather unlikely pair of investigators proved to be hours of reading fun. The author masterly combined very good plots with likeable characters, danger and romance, and lots of heartbreak with lots of humour - in short, everything came together perfectly in these books. I can't wait to get my hands on more in this series.

Intriguing

An up-and-coming author, a man stuck in a going nowhere job, and a couple of out-of-the-ordinary friends find themselves in assorted difficult situations. These books read like possible action movies, and they would make good ones. The characters area perfect combination of tough and tender. They don’t want to hurt anyone but will stop at nothing to protect the underdog. Although these three books are a set, each can be a stand-alone. No errors jumped out at me, so I’m pleased with the editing. There is some language I could have done without, but it’s minimal. All in all, I’d recommend this set if you like an exciting adventure.

After reading the first 3 books in this series, I can say that I really enjoyed them. Great characters and storylines.
Fantastic action and suspense.
I do have one criticism/question - in the first book we meet Abigail and her older half sister Izzie.
We're told that the sisters had the same mum, but different fathers and that Izzie's father adopted Abigail!
how can this be? Different fathers, same mother, and yet the youngest girl was adopted? Not possible unless mum cheated on her husband and had a baby with another man.

Very Good Writing

I bought books 1 - 3 as a set. Each one was entertaining. More intense than a cozy mystery which is what is usually read but less than a thriller. Every character was made interesting and believable. My only complaint was I wish the chapters had headings showing who was speaking so I didn't have to go back and reread a couple of chapters once I realized we had changed perspective.

No Lie--Read This Series!

Five stars for three great stories with engaging characters, told in a way that makes them live! Sabrina and Del developing a relationship and following clues wherever they lead, encountering terrifying challenges that would drive others away. Now, that's a series you can sink into and keep yourself locked-on. Great way to escape some of the craziness right now in August 2021.

Lies are lies

Sabrina and Del were just going to Las Vegas so Sabrina could be a guest speaker. Troubled reared it’s ugly head and the adventure began. From kidnapping to drugs to murder this story unfolded. The author did a good job, but since I had read his first books, the first couple of chapters were repeat for me.

Delightful set of mystery books

Good storylines, not a lot of foul language and a lot of good action. Really bad, bad guys and the hero and heroine were believable in what they were able to figure out and why. Good secondary stories to go along with the major mystery. Hard to put down.

Not typical!

I loved this book! The characters are refreshingly flawed. The pacing is smooth and it has a nice rhythm. The three stories(books) are interconnected through the core characters. It is a very easy read. The typos in Fatal Lies are annoying but I am checking to find the next book. You will enjoy this book not predictable at all.

Great stories, great characters, lots of cool action and suspense. No incessant angst and metaphorical or descriptive indigestion.

Best selling fiction writer solves several mysteries.

A best selling author, and "her friend", and lover, get involved, and solve crimes and mysteries. The stories have holes you could driver a Mack thru, but I found them very entertaining!
