Time travel. Alien bug-monsters. Beautiful women. Not bad for a strip-club bouncer with a talent for slowing down time.I never thought my power was good for anything really important. It was useful for helping me win fistfights against drunken customers, and for ogling the girls onstage. But saving the multiverse against a plague of inter-dimensional monsters? That was a bit out of my league. Or so I believed. But then a massive time-rift opened up behind the club, and a mad old time wizard saved my life. Now, here I am, careening through time in an old hippie van, with two crazy-hot strippers and an AI at my side, trying to level up enough to defeat the monsters.Sure, there’s a damn good chance I’ll die trying, but it ought to be one hell of a This book contains harem elements.
Our protagonist Caleb is a bouncer at a strip club who possess a taste of magical power. Caleb can slow time, which comes in handy in certain situations. In all other respects, he’s pretty much a normal guy. Unknown to Caleb, he will soon be embarking on an adventure that could literally save the world! His minor exposure to time travel will draw him into a multiverse crisis with monsters coming through a time portal. Will this young man be able to stop an invasion? Caleb will be introduced to a couple of fine young women to partner with and assist in this improbable mission. The game elements are very thin in this story. The connection is for Caleb and the ladies to get more powerful, or level-up in order to defeat the monsters. The harem elements do exist and are quite clear. The story is not complex, but it is a fun read. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
The first book in what I hope will be a long running series. I enjoyed the progression of the characters and the plot through the book. You are sucked into the story and taken on a interesting ride. In several ways I can see where the author has started a series in such a way as to allow them to have as much fun writing it as we do reading it. If DR WHO is one of your go to shows to watch you will enjoy this book.
Enjoyed the book and liked the characters and that they didn’t start out a max powers. Had to work up to get stronger and with some skill and a lot of luck they saved the day. Will definitely check out the next one in the series.
A very good start to an imaginative new series. Hope he extends this one beyond just two books; I'd like a chance to get to know the girls better before more are introduced.
Decent, not bad, kind of simplistic, no character development, world building, or back story, just a group of characters moving along from one incident to the next.
