Overall pretty good novel. It sheds some extra fluff about the world.
That said: I am mostly here to report a pretty huge error in the book: (Not entirely a spoiler but) Art wise, Adora is shown as Adora in the start. Then: Her transformation is seemingly interrupted. Except: From now on, she is drawn as She-Ra. Then, later on into the story: She... transforms into She-Ra. So... was she She-Ra this whole time? Did she re-transform? Or was she accidentally drawn as She-Ra?
this one’s set right after the “Roll With It” episode from season 2 and it actually might be my favourite of the series. I think the illustrator and the author were not really on the same page through these books, for example Adora is She-Ra for a heap of chapters and then she suddenly turns into She-Ra later, which is confusing. I’m guessing there was a deadline. I liked the story though, and I love Mermista as usual. I kind of wish they’d written the 4th one actually, it would have been nice to have a book for each princess covering behind the scenes stuff throughout the series. I know it’s a kids book but I feel like Calypsa/Mermista didn’t have to have a hand covering their mouth for the children to know that they couldn’t talk 😭 there are others ways to stop talking, such as just shutting your mouth, but it wasn’t a huge issue. I’ve gotta read the rebel princess guide now, it looks good.
also the art was so good, for example Mermista tackling Calypsa on page 72 was so lore accurate, and the catradora content on page 84? the illustrator knew exactly what they were doing, and the author really captured the obvious romantic tension between Catra and Adora which I very much appreciate.
I got the book with a small bonus at the back with one the other book, that they have made. But over all it was good book just wish it had auto book it would be easier for me.
The catradora content saved this book, I'm not too mad though because this *is* for kids and I'm a whole adult but I thought my love for She-Ra would make me love it... alas
First new book I’ve read in over a month. Turns out ending the distance learning school year and buying a house leaves you a little too stressed to do much else. This was a nice way to ease me back into reading.
