Sweet Darlings Inc. #3

That Wild Player

Rate this book
I'm a good girl. I work hard, follow the rules, and only want a future with Mr. Right, complete with a white picket fence, 1.5 children and a dog.

What do I have instead? A "Dear Jane" email from my ex, who CCd it to my best friends and their fiancés. My friends realizing that I've never had an orgasm is the cherry on the train-wreck cake of my love life.

So my new plan? Find a nice guy who can give me an orgasm before my best friend's wedding.

Enter CJ. Not only is he tall, rich and scorching hot, but he's super smart. He makes me tingle in places I've never tingled before. He checks all my boxes but one--commitment. He thinks that's what you do when you run out of women, which in his universe is NEVER.

But he wants me and won't take no for an answer. He pops up as best man at my friend's wedding, at my office, in my home. He's sending me flowers, chocolates, coffee beans, you name it. Plus he kisses like he invented the action. It's like he knows all my weaknesses and is launching a siege.

Then my life implodes, and I learn that being good is overrated. Can the wild player handle this former good girl?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! As a recently single, Michelle, myself - I sort of fell in love with her. When her boyfriend dumps her in the worst way, without any grace upon exiting - enter the life of online dating - oh, wait... who is that handsome stranger?

Enter CJ. Single-for-life, but oh so sexy! A man who never has to chase, suddenly finds himself more than willing to pursue the woman who's caught his eye.

I adored the dynamic between CJ and Michelle! I enjoyed every second of this read. It had humor and it had all the steam. I am a sucker for a romance where the wild guy gets tamed when love bops him on the head unexpectedly. If you're a fan of fun romances, this is the book for you!

All Michelle's wanted in her life is two things: to have a successful career to be able to prove to her parents that she's worthy of being their daughter, and the whole fairytale-style marriage that her parents have. So to that end, she's been going on a bunch of, unfortunately, unsuccessful dates with men who turn out to be losers. She likes rules and structure so her job in HR fulfills that. Her side job as a honeypot helps fulfill the financial part of the success her parents have driven her to believe she needs. And then she meets CJ, who's challenged by Michelle's apparent non-interest in him and in violating her company's non-fraternization policy. But no matter, CJ loves the chase. And chase he will because Michelle more than interests him.

But what happens when he lands the girl, then says something so stupid and hurtful that he loses her? What happens when Michelle throws his words back at him and decides to use him the way he was using her? Does he wise up, take his head out of his ass and realize the feelings he's had all along? Or does he go along with Michelle's determination to give him what he had said he wanted originally?

I like That Wild Player. I don't love it, but I love Michelle and the relationship she has with her girlfriends. Together the bunch of them are funny, supportive and loyal to each other. Unfortunately I'm not in love with CJ. He's sort of a pale version of the type of hero I most prefer. Sure he's sorta sexy when he's pursuing Michelle, but once he had her he was lackluster. I really hated how he hurt Michelle toward the end. What he said was extremely painful for her to have thrown at her, all because his stupid ass was panicking. Ick. He's the sole reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. I wanted Michelle to be paired with a hero as equally awesome as she is, because she deserved better than a guy who gave her some orgasms then bailed when he panicked. And THEN had the nerve to turn right around and try to get her back. I have to say that I do like his grand gesture, but for me it was a bit too little too late for a heroine who should have had someone all in the entire time.

After reading all three books from this series, the thing that was really great about them as that in each of the books, after they meet ‘the one’, none of the girls give up their careers or puts their men as high priority. I thought that was amazing and really empowering, showing that a woman can be focused on her career and can have professional goals while having the perfect man by her side. That was amazing and for me it was the best part in all three books.

Anyway, Michelle’s story is just as fun, sweet and entertaining as the other two. It’s a light read, something sweet to read after a dark read or just something to read before sleep. It’ll keep a smile on your face the whole way because these characters are great.

I enjoyed reading this series and I’ll check Nadia’s other books. :)

CJ and his innuendos, “so it’s no problem if you want to take a spin in my car. I’ll even let you handle my stick.” CJ doesn't mind making his intentions clear, “the point is to keep other guys’ paws off you. Not mine.” I liked this book, I liked CJ.

Michelle has spent her whole life trying to live up to the ideals of what a perfect woman her mother would want her to be like. She really wants the marriage her parents have. She even dated the proper, boring man that her mother would approve of and went out of her way to do everything right...until it blew up in her face. She ends up getting dumped via a group email. That's when Michelle decides to just start getting into dating field by throwing herself out there. CJ seems like the perfect guy, except he's seen her on bad days plus he is total anti-commitment. CJ believes Michelle is jaded about marriage as he is, because she works part time as a honeypot for a local PI for a 2nd job. Things change between then as they start hooking up.
Their chemistry was tangible and super steamy. Wow! Michelle was knocked for a loop by her discovery but I mourned how she loss the faith and belief in her fairytales. I loved how the pace of this story went and the secondary characters added to this sweet and sexy story.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

Every book I have read by Nadia Lee, she never ceases to amaze me. Wild player was funny and had its moments that make you realize about true love. When Nadia brings you her characters, you seem to have the same love for them. I felt the emotions that both MIchelle and CJ went through and makes you realize about a few things. You would have to read it to understand a bit more, but other than that, it was amazing. YOu should check it out

This is a super-duper, fantastic book and I had the most fun I've had in ages reading it. It has delicious, delightful, hilarious characters . I laughed my head off at some of their antics. Other times, there were cringe worth behaviors by lead characters that reminded me too much of my own family, which was kinda scary.
If you have a screwed up family, divorced parents, or parents who appear to be forever in love, go read this book. Then congratulate people you know who are in love and have a successful marriage. I hope you have a chance for a fantastic HEA of your own.

When her world crashes in lies like a house of cards, enter CJ. CJ is all about sex and he wants Michelle. I loved the nicknames that Michelle calls CJ. I wish that Izzy got fired, you will find out why.

I wanted to love it, I really did but unfortunately that was not the case.
I have read worse and even stopped midway before, at least here I stuck to it.
I couldn’t connect to the two main characters, the dialogue between them sometimes was just ... well... it felt stupid to me.
And the story dragged on an on and on. Felt like ‘let’s put everything in there but the kitchen sink’ kind of thing...
I liked the two previous books in this series... this one was just a bust for me.

This was a fun romance.

I thought it was sad the way her eyes were opened to imperfect relationships and it made her quite sour for a while.

I wasn't keen on CJ too much at first. He did grow on me...

I wanted to like this book. I enjoyed the first two. I don't know what happened, but it seemed like this book was rushed.

Michelle and CJ had great chemistry even if their views on relationships are completely opposite.

I really wasn't satisfied by CJ's attempt to make up when he realized he wanted to be with Michelle as more than a hookup. It seemed like he 180'd really quickly and his way of making it up to her was kind of half-hearted and not really imaginative.

The part that I didn't like that made me really mad had to do with Izzy. She work in the finance department (I think), isn't very good at her job, dresses inappropriately, hits on my man with a pulse and treats the other women in her building with contempt. The story explains that Izzy is 'invaluable" to her boss, but I feel like he couldn't cover her forever and she'd have to at least have a write up or two for her behavior and lack of professionalism.

The part that REALLY ticks me off is what she does to Michelle.

So that glaring oversight in office politics and behavior and the rushed resolution had me give this book 2 stars.

"Michelle needs a guy. Good in bed, rich, handsome, faithful and adores her. That's it. Simple."

Michelle believes in fairytale endings. She wants what her parents have had all their married life. She wants what her two best friends have with their men. However, she keeps finding frogs instead of princes. The first time she meets CJ, he sees her at her worst, but imagine her shock when she finds out exactly who he is. She knows that he's only interested in flings but there's no denying the chemistry between them.

"She looks up from her phone and smiles, and just like that, my chest feels achy and hot. I've never worked this hard for a woman, but Michelle's worth it."

CJ has zero interest in commitment or anything long term. He's seen what marriage has done to his parents and he knows that relationships rarely last. However, he's determined to have Michelle in his bed. When she makes a shocking discovery that has her questioning everything she believes in, she's not the only one who starts to change her outlook on love and life. Suddenly, CJ is fighting for something he never thought he'd ever want.

This was a great story. I really enjoyed the banter between Michelle and CJ. Their chemistry was tangible and super sexy. Poor Michelle! She was knocked for six by her discovery but I mourned the loss of her faith and belief in fairytales. I loved CJ's commitment to his crusade to show Michelle he meant business. I loved his patience and his efforts. Overall, an enjoyable story from a new-to-me author and I'll definitely be exploring her other books.

Michelle wants a happily ever after, house in the suburbs complete with white picket fence, kids, and adoring husband. After getting dumped via group "reply all" email she decides to just date around. CJ seems like the perfect guy, except he's seen her at her worst. And he is anti-commitment. He thinks Michelle is as jaded about marriage as he is, because she has a part time second job as a honeypot for a local PI. Once they start hooking up, though, things change for both of them.

What I liked: Michelle, for the most part. And I loved her friendships with Jan and Sammi. I liked CJ sometimes - it took a while. The book was entertaining, though.

What I didn't like: It took a LONG time to like CJ. He just didn't resonate with me in the beginning. But what really bugged me was the ending. Was what he did sweet and romantic and thoughtful? Definitely. But the instantaneous 180 in attitude from Michelle left me scratching my head. Give him a chance? Sure. But for them to go from sleeping together a couple times, to barely speaking, right to declarations of love was off-putting. I could easily see it happening in the future but the timeline here was rushed.

Overall: A funny, entertaining book worth reading. I keep wavering between 3 1/2 and 4 stars. I enjoyed it but didn't love it.

Receiving an email from your boyfriend; scratch that now ex-boyfriend via reply all CC’ing your best friends is not how Michelle envisioned her life going. Wanting the whole dream package; husband, white picket fence and the kids she is left feeling like the 5th wheel between her best friends and their perfect relationships.

Michelle meets CJ who is part of Matt and Jan’s wedding party, he is no other than the man she embarrassed herself in front of earlier. CJ continues to insert himself into Michelle’s life, trying to show her that his way is the best way, when CJ starts to find out that relationships and marriage isn’t as bad as he first thought he goes after what he wants, is it too late now that its all changed for both of them?

This was my first Lee novel and I personally enjoyed it, I loved the dual POV; it gives you the whole picture and you get to know both the characters. There was some times throughout where I had to stop and remind myself which minor character was with who as they felt both the same to me.

Overall, I enjoyed this light-hearted book and I am looking forward to more from Lee in the future.

Another too cute Romantic Stand alone...

Even knowing that the story is going to end with a happy ending, doesn't take away from the fact that it was still a fun and cute romance. Still think I enjoyed Sammi's story the best, but Jan and Michelle's were still really good.
Michelle and CJ's backgrounds are sorta similar, and yet so very different. But they are still able to look past, the past to what it is they want for their future.
I love the very cute way CJ came up with to show Michelle how his outlook on relationships changed, particularly theirs, very uniquely original!!
Anyone who enjoys romance would enjoy this book, or the two that came before. It is a stand alone, so you could just read the one... but if your anything like me, anyone I read a story with strong supporting characters, I really like knowing what happened to them. Even if you read this one first, and now know Jan and Sammi got their men, the stories of how they got their men are too good to pass up on.
And if you have Kindle Unlimited they're both currently available to read for free.

This book was cute and I did enjoy it however found their quick devotion to love a little unbelievable. why you may wonder? Well so I liked how they met, and I appreciated that there was instant attraction can understand all of that. But Michelle gets dumped by text (douche move) and she seems like a strong woman which I like, I didn't understand why she let Izzy get away with all that she did, and I don't what company you work for her behaviour was totally unacceptable, so I applauded how CJ got her back, more than once. This is where I am a little sceptical, so they have sex, he mentions it is only sex and considering they really haven't spent time together alone, maybe once I can understand that, but then when she agrees especially after finding out her family life was a sham, he does an about face, a 360 changes his mind because he loves her, how? when? and she loves again how? but all in all I still enjoyed.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

Michelle has always dreamed of falling in loving, getting married and living the perfect suburban life. It all comes crashing down when not only does her boyfriend dump her by email her humiliation is complete when her friends are included on the email. To make matters worse once a truth is revealed her friends are convinced she needs a fling with a bad boy not to find another nice man.

CJ is part of their friend’s wedding party and they couldn’t be any more different. He is a bachelor enjoying life and not only does he have every intention of staying that way he is determined to convince her that it’s the lifestyle she needs as well. When all is said and done will he convince her that single is the way to go or will she convince him that love may be the best thing that could ever happen to him?

Humorous banter, hot chemistry and a great group of secondary characters make this an enjoyable story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Funny as hell book about a rule-following, good girl and a rebellious commitment phobe.

Michelle was regimented and even a little rigid but after her ex sends her a break-up email, you know-because it's more personal that way, she realizes that while she's put together and polished outside, her love life is a little off the rails. As if douchepants copying her entire friend group on the email wasn't bad enough, she also inadvertently reveals that she's never achieved the big O with a guy. Girlfriends being girlfriends insist that she abandon her plan to find the perfect, ie boring man, and instead she go on the hunt for the one that can help her ascend to that coveted high.

That Wild Player contains hilarious antics between the friend group, cringe worthy embarrassment and a guy completely allergic to commitment. Excellent, loud out loud, Saturday afternoon reading!

And then there was one girl left. In the previous two books in the series Michelle had a front row seat of seeing her BFFs Jan and Sammi find their happily ever after now it is her turn to shine. What is interesting about Michelle is that she seems to be so “put together” & a strict rule follower at least to the outside world. Then enters CJ who comes and mixes it up for her. The pairing is interesting because relationship outlook was deeply affected by their respective parents’ marriages. I won’t give away too much, but I think in the end their pairing both things in perspective for both characters. Some characters got away a little too easy, but that’s just my opinion. Overall, I really liked this book and the mention of a certain character from a previous book. As always, I am looking forward to the next adventure from the author.

What a good ending to a series. I loved Michelle and CJ . Their chemistry was off the roof and again it was good seeing the other side characters Sammy is a hoot in all of these books. What I loved the most about this one was the dual POV which was missing in the first 2. It was good to see CJ 's input on things oh and how I loved it when the tables were turned and Michelle had the upper hand. How would a non commitment guy and a girl who's been planning her life and wedding for ages get their happily ever after? Read on and find out there are heaps of hilarious moments.
From the moment she read her fortune cookie I knew what her life changing truth was going to be . It was good seeing CJ being persistent ro win her over. I would love to know if Derek Darling has a book. I've read David's book way before reading this series and I loved it.

I definitely feel for Michelle! Girl has her life planned, has a good boyfriend, a job she loves and great friends when her boyfriend breaks up with her via email. What a coward!! Seriously, an email?! Anywho, Michelle is well rid of him but this definitely throws her into a spiral.

This book definitely is a story that could happen; although hopefully without getting dumped via email... And the soul searching Michelle goes on, is definitely something that would happen after being dumped.

If you’ve read other books in this series, you’ll recommend some characters. Their stories aren’t super important to Michelle’s story, so this is a stand-alone, but their friendships are just so fun to read.

Sweet, sexy, funny and wonderful friendship makes this a great read. Love the sisterhood with our heroine Michelle and her besties Jan and Sammi. Who knew the gorgeous bombshell has insecurities? It just makes her so cute and likable. I loved Michelle. She is both confident and insecure which makes her complex. While Michelle is all about the happily ever after with the perfect wedding, the man that comes to her aid on more than one occasion is the opposite. CJ is a swoon-worthy hunk that decides he wants Michelle but is adamantly opposed to a relationship that’s more than sex. Love the characters and the terrific friendship in this story. The ending seemed a little rushed and things wrapped up as expected. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

Aye! what a beautiful ending!

I love the culmination of the three couples in this series!! I loveee CJ and Michelle. Even though he was a commitment phobe-he clearly started falling for her the minute she flung her unmentionables in his face. Maybe even before. And I cannot understand how Izzy wasn’t fired for a number of offenses in this series but the email would have IMMEDIATELY been a termination in a normal setting. I wanted to snap her nails off and she’s not even a real person! I love how the girls have been there for each other through this whole series and all the crazy occurrences. Anyways, these three standalone stories are great and this final for the trio of women was a fantastic ending! Highly recommend

CJ and Michelle’s story was so fun to read. His parents fought all the time and divorced then became friends after the divorce. Her parents appeared to have a happy marriage. So, when Michelle and CJ hooked up, he said no long term or marriage, she said forget it, I want long term and marriage. Things don’t always turn out the way you want them. Entertaining, sexy, delightful story that I would recommend. I think it’s best to read the 3 books in order even though they can be standalone’s (That Man Next Door, then That Sexy Stranger, then That Wild Player) because all three girlfriends are developing throughout all three books. I enjoyed it immensely.

Michelle has always been a good girl and a rule follower. She aspires to have the happy marriage that her parents have. If only she could find a Mr. Right who could actually give her the ever elusive “Big O” that she’s never had. Ever.
C.J. is gorgeous, intelligent, and funny. If he weren’t such a player and anti-marriage/commitment, he might just be the guy for her. Too bad that he seems insistent on wooing her. Too bad that he gives her all the feels. And too bad that she intrigued him so much and makes him feel things he hasn’t ever felt before.

Absolutely loved!

First off,I'm sad that this trilogy is over. I absolutely loved reading about these three best friends. One of the reasons I love reading Nadia Lee's books is because I feel like I can relate to some of the personalities and also because I tend to get lost in the stories. I really loved this book because I felt such a strong connection with Michelle. I seriously have Pinterest boards about my dream wedding and what I want in life (not binders like her, but close enough). There just aren't enough words to explain how much I truly enjoyed this books!

So cute

I loved this series. The books were amazing and each one had just enough of a twist. I liked that this one split between Michelle and CJ’s point of view it made the book even better.

What’s a playboy who had no desire to ever marry gonna do when he meets the girl who dreams of happy ever after and a white picket fence? Well make a few mistakes before he gets it right that’s for sure.

Michelle and CH’s story was so much fun and seeing more of Jan and Sammi along the way add to the laughs.

Start with the first book and read the whole series you won’t go wrong.
