Another Delightful Cozy with the Twins!
Violet and Vic encounter another murder! Kate and Vic are soon expecting their child and Violet and Jack are planning their wedding! Violet, Jack and their friends feel compelled to solve this murder by poison as they were present when it occurred. This is intense and a bit darker than earlier adventures, but they persevere until the murderer is found and confesses. These are delightful adventures with " old friends" !!

Wonderful
Violet meets a new friend and murder and mayhem go from there. It is up to Jack and Violet to catch the killer. Miller's stepmother is doing everything she possibly can to keep them from marrying. I loved the end!

Lady Eleanor keeps getting worse
I quite liked this one, although Lady Eleanor is becoming more insane with every book, it's quite satisfying to see the crazier she acts the easier it is for the twins to stand up to her.

Another chocolate cocktail for Denny!
It's been awhile since I've read the Violet Carly's cozy books, but I'm happy to be able to come back to them. Reading this one I realized how much I enjoyed them before. They are funny, & fresh, & also sad. When finding the one responsible for the murder or murders & knowing the heart ache they caused others is not just sad but devastating to those who loved them. In the middle, or really the beginning Violet is planning her wedding, or at least trying to. Lady Elinor is changing everything about it. The date, the flowers, even the man that would stand up with Jake, the groom. If she can, and she believes that she can she's even trying to change the groom. Poor Violet what she puts up with where her stepmother is concerned is not much different than Snow White! Except for the magic mirror!! Back to the murder, of course Denny, Violet's friend, is excited to be solving another one he has the chalk board already set up in the breakfast room. These are fun and witty books finding who did the deed! Looking forward to reading g the next one. Hope you will try these wonderful cozies by Beth Byers, and look into all of her other books. Plus I love the historical part of them, set in the 1920's what a fun and different time in the world!

A much stronger, believable plot
A great read. Loved the way she dealt with her stepmother, although it was long overdue. Hope the new character and Ham become a couple.
A meeting in a shop, leads not only to a new friend but also an invitation to a Ladies Club. The friendship also introduces her to the woman's stepmother. A girl nearly a decade younger who is trying to worm her way into her new friend's life and friendships. However the death of the young stepmother throws the Vi team into action. Especially when a shooting occurs whilst she is with her new friend. Who is responsible and why? Will they find out? Is Ham taken with her new friend? Then there is her own stepmother who is trying to derail her forthcoming wedding. Will it take place or will the couple elope? Will they cut off access to her?

I have read all of the Violet Carlyle Cozy Historical Mystery series1-9 and enjoyed each one tremendously. The characters are amusing but believable. The plots are complicated enough to leave you guessing. The settings are descriptive and imaginable. These books are fun yet interesting reads.

Poisoning this time.
A new friend (?), acceptance into a Ladies Club, and, of course, murder. Violet and her friends get wrapped up in another murder mystery while Victor and Kate go off to buy a home by the sea. Was the murder of Lord Russell's second wife his doing? His daughter Rita's or another member Of the family wanting a piece of the inheritance. How does one live of evidence finally tue it all together? Jack, Ham and Violet have their work cut out for them. I really enjoy this series as it shows what deductive reasoning can accomplish. The interaction of Lady Violet and the police is interesting as well.

All the previous issues still exist.. frustrating and disappointing
Good idea but once again a failure to fully execute it. Should be more detailed and drawn out.. should have more of a sense of reality.. the novels are getting shorter as she strives to provide one a month.. take longer and fulfill the brief to entertain with a better understanding of life in the UK during the 20's .. give us a more compelling tale, something that takes more than a chalkboard and entrapment to solve..

Delightful
I wish the ladies club had been a slightly more prominent feature or the story. I could see it becoming an interesting backdrop for Vi. All in all, another satisfying read. I hate that I have caught up to the release of the books actually. These are a lovely binge read in quick succession.

Reasons...
The reason why I have been giving this series 4*s (mostly) is because of the poor editing. I thought it would improve ad much ad the series has but it hasn't. Aside from that this next book continues the story of twins Violet and Victor and their escapades. Revel in the next mystery with your favorite sleuths with their friends and family.

Murder at the Ladies Club
Vi and Jack are vexed but with intriguing clues and murderers. I love all the love and kindness of all the characters while being suspenseful. Of course it’s always the murder of someone you don’t like and the murderer is even more of someone you detest. Loved it!

Another fighting tale of plucky young women and gents
Violet is plagued by her overbearing, snoby stepmother. Victor is busy caring. For his wife and house hunting for a country getaway. Violet wedding is getting closer. But Hi & crew are asked to solve the sudden death of the Step-mother of Rita Russell. Looked my forward to book 10.

I really love reading this series

Wonderful
I love these books, Lady Violet always works out the mystery of who the murderer was. Set in Victorian times these books take you into the real history of the way the rich were with their maids and butlers.

better mystery
their victorian values are adorable. and i applaud violet and jack. i think jack would be valiant without threats. true my. true work with the boards. adding the timeline is brilliant. modern methodology used early by a brilliant woman.

I really enjoy this series, though I don't know how they manage to function with cocktails in the morning! Violet is sharp and shrewd, and not just another spoiled rich kid. It will be interesting to see how the series changes after she marries and when the depression hits.

a new character! sometimes i think new characters are only pulled in as love interests for someone single. but i think this one will stick around and i like her. this mystery was a little more mysterious and tangled than some of this series.

Finally
Finally stepmother is handled. All through the book Lady Eleanor is awful (as usual) to Violet and Jack. After they solve the murder ( as usual) evil stepmother is shown the door and told not to return. YEAH!!!

Fun, murder and more fun
Reading this book was so much fun. I really enjoyed seeing various relationships evolve. Even Violet's detecting skills evolved. Denny takes more of a role this time and Victor less so. I did miss Victor's antics, though.

I absolutely love these novels. It would be nice if Violet stopped buying so many clothes. I'd like to see her involvement in all the charities and doing good things she's actually doing.
