She’s a beauty. He’s a beast. Only her love can make him whole.

As a lycan, Barrett is physically superior, built like a god, with movie star good looks. But he’s hindered by one small defect. He was born mute, and for a lycan, being mute is the kiss of death. Terrified that he could pass on his inability to speak to his offspring, female lycans in search of a mate pass him over every mating season, leaving him desperately alone.

Orphaned as a baby, Raven has no idea she’s a lycan. Raised as a human, she ends up marrying her college sweetheart. But after years struggling to conceive, her marriage comes to a heartbreaking end. Hoping for a fresh start, she moves west. When she meets Barrett, there’s no denying her attraction to him, or the way the odd sensations she’s been battling for weeks intensify into an aroused, dizzying frenzy anytime he’s near.

In one passionate, turbulent night, Barrett finds what he’s waited a lifetime for, even as Raven’s life unravels into a frightening new reality. When the dust settles, will what they’ve found in each other be enough to keep them together? Or will the truth be too much to overcome?

Welcome to the next chapter of All the King’s Men. In Raven’s Gift, author Donya Lynne gives readers a more in-depth look at the lycans she introduced in the novel, BLACK. For a reference to the series timeline, Raven’s Gift takes place at the same time as Rise of the Fallen.

Raven’s Gift was originally written as a novella for the Fangs Fur and Fa La La holiday anthology. This rerelease includes over 10,000 new words, making it a novel.

Raven’s Gift can be read as a standalone, although the author recommends reading the entire series, especially if you plan on continuing with future books.

Recommended for fans of J.R. Ward, Lara Adrian, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kresley Cole.

I'm loving this new take on lycans.
Usually this author writes about vampires so this is new to me. The story moves quickly but still has depth.

Raven is new to town and freshly divorced even though she is only 25. Her husband fell out of love with her because she proved to be barren.
But nothing was as it seemed for Raven. She is not human.

So she shows up at her new rental at the worst time possible (or maybe in the nick of time). Her new landlords, Barrett and his brothers immediately know things are not as they seem.

Barrett was born mute and it has made his life miserable. But he has always risen above it and made more of an effort to achieve than most others because of it. Yet he is forever seen as flawed by other Lycans.
But Raven doesn't have those preconceived notions of perfection and as a bonus, she is a therapist who works with Autistic kids and knows sign language.

A short sweet tale. I hope to meet these characters in future books by this author!

safety is fantastic.

I was intrigued by the idea of a mute hero but it's treated as more of a Macguffin rather than reflected in any depth. The insta-love and regressive sexual politics really didn't do it for me.

I finished it so fast. I just couldn't put it down. I liked the setting and the new characters. I love long hair on men so Priest and Rameses intrigue me. I commented to my husband recently that the 20 and 30 somethings in our neighborhood all look like they need a sandwich and to do some farm work. They're all so scrawny. The guys in this series are muscular without all of the bulk, kind of like an American Ninja Warrior. I love the visuals this author creates, especially with the Egyptian decor in the lycan temple. Raven's story just goes to show you that there is someone out there for everyone. You just have to wait and look. This book is another great addition to the AKM series.

Come ON book 11 !!!!!

When I saw that Donya Lynne was releasing some editions to her story from Fur La La, I Had to have it !!!
I have read just about Everything that she has written , and I love every letter !!
I love learning more about the Lycans, their history, how they interact with other species, how their communities work......
And this book only leaves me wanting MORE PLEASE, and thank you !!! 😁😁😁
This book is about Raven , who has no clue about who or what she is. She has been through a bad break up , and she just Knew that she needed to start over Somewhere. And her Somewhere is in Arizona. So she packed up her belongings, got in her Range Rover, and drove from Chicago to her new place in Arizona .
Barrett and his brother are into construction . They buy houses and renovate them . In this particular day , Barrett is running late because his old ⏰ clock just won't ring !!! So not only is he late, but his brother is moaning and groaning about him being late , and now they are going to keep their new tenant waiting.....they also have a Ton of stuff to do before their Festival of Isis Celebration. Being Lycans , they don't celebrate Christmas. Being Suban 's in his community, means that they are basically Noblemen, and Have to attend . Barrett is ostracized in his community brands he has no voice. He and most if his family know American Sign Language , and that is preferable to him , as he doesn't like others to see how miserable he is since he has no mate . And zero prospects for one , since the females in his community always overlook him . These holiday festivals only serve to remind him of what he doesn't have and he hates them.
Once Barrett and his Brother get out the truck and walk over to Raven they are hit with a blast of hot air. Even though Barrett doesn't have a mate , they both know that that is a sign of a female in Heat .
Raven is in Heat , and Barrett feel this overwhelming need to service her.......
But she doesn't know who , or What she is.
So How do they tell her??
How do they keep her safe from All of the other Lycans , and Werewolves who will also respond to all of the pheromone' s she is throwing off ??
What does that mean for Barrett ??

What happens next is one harrowing adventure after another . As Raven is in the run and discovers exactly Who and What she is.
I loved every word in this book , and Am waiting anxiously for the next book..... 😃😃😃😃😃

Super fun

This was a great look into the lycan's and some , as I'm sure we'll learn more, of who they are and how they function as a society. Cannot wait to read more about them as the series continues.

NOTE: Raven’s Gift was originally written as a novella for the Fangs Fur and Fa La La holiday anthology. This rerelease includes over 10,000 new words, making it a novel.

•••••••••

REVIEW: RAVEN’S GIFT is the tenth instalment (and novella) in Donya Lynne’s contemporary, adult ALL THE KING’S MEN paranormal, romance series. This is lycan shifter and home renovator Barrett Lowe, and twenty-five year old, occupational therapist Raven Di Marco’s story line. RAVEN’S GIFT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary. Raven’s Gift takes place at the same time as Rise of the Fallen (All the King’s Men #1).

NOTE: RAVEN’S GIFT was originally released in the December 2018, multi-authored anthology Fangs, Fur and Fa La La but the author has added an additional 10,000 words for the new release.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Barrett and Raven) RAVEN’S GIFT follows the building relationship between lycan shifter and home renovator Barrett Lowe, and twenty-five year old, occupational therapist Raven Di Marco. Barrett Lowe and his brother Julian had no idea that their new tenant, Raven DiMarco, was a lycan shifter, an unmated, female, lycan shifter entering into her most fertile period, the infloria. Unaware of her lycan heritage, Raven is a prime target for all unmated male lycans. After one failed attacked, hoping to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, Barrett and his brother Julian are forced to take Raven to the lycan compound where our heroine will learn the true nature of the beast. What ensues is the building relationship between Raven and Barrett, and the potential fall-out as Raven struggles with the unreality of her new life.

Barrett Lowe is considered imperfect; damaged goods amongst the lycan population. Born mute, Barrett is an unacceptable mate for the female shifters, females who see Barrett as unworthy and unlikely to produce healthy offspring. Raven DiMarco’s first marriage was a failure, ending in divorce when she was unable to get pregnant, Raven moves to Tuscon Arizona in the hopes of starting anew, never dreaming that her life was about to dramatically change.

The relationship between Raven and Barrett is one of immediate attraction, an attraction not only predicated on lycan DNA but the sexual, palpable energy of want and need. The $ex scenes are passionate and intimate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to a large number of the lycan population including mated couple Siron and Jupiter; Barrett’s brothers Julian and Chase Lowe; as well as Priest, Rameses and Wrex; Payne, Titus, Sinner, Klaw and Krul.

RAVEN’S GIFT introduces a number of the characters and Lycan’s in Donya Lynne’s world of All the King’s Men. For fans of the series, the lycans were first introduced in the BLACK (AKM #8) but you do not have to have read the previous instalment to follow or comprehend. The premise is spirited and imaginative; the characters are animated; the romance is fated and captivating.

Nice. 3.75 stars.

I liked this book. Just a bit longer than a novella I think. I haven’t read any of the other books in the series and this read fine as a stand-alone novel. I read the blurbs of the previous books and they just didn’t interest me (m/m, BDSM, ménage, etc). This one seemed quite different with the virgin hero. I’d try more of these Lycan ones (depending on the storyline).

Barrett is one amazing complicated hot man. Raven is one special loving woman. Raven has a lot of changes she is dealing with. Barrett will be the one to help her understand everything. Amazing love story.

Wonderful story.

The only reason for 4 stars is price vs length. Paid more than what I got of an amazing story. Wish there was more about the baby, and others. Maybe it'll be in the next book

Well worth the time!

I delayed reviewing this series until I read all of those available. I loved all of the characters! Michah and Trace definitely stole my heart. I really loved the children because they bring to mind stories of my nieces and nephews at that age. I loved the spunk of Samantha, Cordray, and Miriam. That being said, I have to confess that I have a soft spot for Arion and Severin. I loved their story! Definitely want more of AKM and the many strong personalities they interact with. Would love to see more soon.

AKM is one of my favourite paranormal series and it was great get more perspective of the Lycans, my first encounter was in Black. As you would expect from Donya the characters were well developed and there was enough angst in the air to keep the story line tight. This is of course a love story and through that we get more insight into the Lycan culture, which is probably very different from the perspective of our vampire chums in AKM.
I suspect we are going to see more of the Lycans in upcoming AKM books especially Rameses and Priest, although Memnon is probably going to awake at some point and is not known for his empathic nature.

It's always to interesting to see a series from a different view. The view of the AKM world from the Lycan's is very different then from the Vampires. Its just as enjoyable with lots of action, and suspense. These new characters are just as intense as the characters from the other books with an interesting history created for them. I'm hoping there will be more books featuring Lycans in the future.

Excellent Mute Hero Romance

There is something awesome about heros with flaws. It makes me excited to see them overcome some kind of obstacle to win their mate. This was no exception.

His big hurdle was mainly his perception of himself.

Still, I loved the he k out of it and more importantly the heroine was good hearted. I love sweet heroines.

This one was adorable and I loved it. I think I've been in the mood for broken heroes. This one is broken according to the pack females because he doesn't talk. But he signs. It was awesome to see how much he had to deal with and how sweet the female was.

Excellent book. Loved the two main characters. Barrett sounds only gorgeous and I liked Raven too.
The rest of the Lycans, including Barrett’s brothers will hopefully get mentioned in other books.
