Although a decent mystery storyline, it falls a little flat and Jana Deleon's beloved characters are missing their normal wit and dynamic. It's almost as if they had personality changes. Also if your going to write a book about a town in Louisiana and refer to it please know we have "parishes" not counties. It may seem minor but to a true LA native it's very offputting and shakes the validity of the story and author's voice. Overall I felt the book lacked that certain something that makes it a "Miss Fortune" story.

Fun story

I love the Miss Fortune stories, and it was generous of Ms. DeLeon to open that world to other writers. Ms. Blake is definitely one of the best in providing this Fanfic contribution. It's hard to hit the exact dynamic between someone else's characters, but this comes closer than most. If you enjoy the Miss Fortune series, give this story a look. I think you'll enjoy it, too.

Who is the killer and what is the motive?

Peanut and Rich get in a fight and someone shoots him. Peanut accuses Carter and others think Peanut did it. Ida Belle, Gertie and Fortune need to hunt down the real killer to help both Peanut and Carter.

I enjoy the fun banter between Gertie, Ida Belli and Fortune. Then there’s the feisty on and off again relationship with Carter. In this mystery Carter gets blamed for a murder he’s innocent of. Then on top of all this stress, Gertie
Gets hurt and lands in the hospital. Can Fortune and Ida belli solve this case
in time to prove his innocence and to keep Peanut from going Dow I for
Ruder too? Read “Hiding in the Bayou” and find out the answers to who
really killed Peanuts husband and deputy Carter.

More mystery and Lunacy

I like this much better than Bayou Babes. Of course if it has the Sinful Ladies in it, I'm going to read it. Love the SLS
