Wendalynn Wigg will tackle any problem head-on, so when she's offered her chance at a school of her own, becoming a mail-order bride should be no obstacle at all. Setting her heart on a life dedicated to instilling a lifelong love of learning in needy children, she sets out for Nebraska, where a lonely preacher is in need of a wife.
Ambrose Bennet is looking for a wife who can solve all of his problems in one fell swoop. Sending for a wife who is also a teacher will not only give him more time to spend preparing the messages his parish should hear, it will remove him from a classroom of rowdy boys determined to be like their hero, Buffalo Bill Cody. More importantly, it will save him from the nefarious machinations of the matchmaking mothers of the tiny town of Hope Nebraska.
Will preconceived ideas, expectations, and a conniving young woman destroy any chance of a happily ever after for the new teacher and her dashing preacher, or will any icy dousing bring them together in a most unexpected way?

Wendi was afraid to leave the orphanage, but she knew she couldn't stay. Traveling to Hope, she finds her preacher husband isn't what she thought he should be. Ambrose had misgivings about Wendi from the moment he met her. Somehow they have to make their marriage come together. Easier said than done. Just when they start to make progress, Xenia may have been sighted!
I really enjoyed this book! The characters were wonderful and fun! The author did a great job of showing how important kindness and love can go a long way in life. This story portrayed God’s perfect love, loving ones neighbor and forgiveness. This book has humor, romance and a great way of showing how beautiful life can be in God’s plan. This is one book you won’t be able to put down until the end!

Ambrose is the new preacher in town, and he is a rigid, by the rules, fire and brimstone preacher too. He, not really cut out to be, is also the town school teacher too. Preacher is a handsome fella and has several older students out to make a husband of him. He sends for a mail order wife from Wigg Foundling Home and School and requests a teacher for a wife. He figures the new wife will take over his teaching duties and also take him off the Young students wish list for their husband to be. We.no accepts the marriage proposal mainly to get her own school and not interested in the love part as being his wife. Will they both find what they want in this marriage or will they only find loneliness and heavy hearts?
Yet another great story in this series with wonderful characters. Wendi answers Ambrose's ad to be a Pastors wife and school teacher but she gets more than she bargains for as Ambrose rigidly follows rules and thinks only of his reputation and so is rather abrupt to begin with. Wendi finds herself alone missing her sister from the Wigg founding school yet finds teaching the children of Hope a challenge as she tries to understand how she can win over both Ambrose and the children. A wonderful sweet romance which is very humorous in parts as Ambrose the children learn to except her.
Wendi and her friends grew up as orphans in a special home in New York City. They were given the best education possible and then went out across the country educating children. They instilled a love of learning in their students and helped educate the country. This book is about a young lady named Wendi who was raised in a founding home in New York City. She became the wife of a pastor in the mid-west who was having trouble trying to teach in a one room school house. With great effort she was able to reach the students.
This is a story based on learning to trust, learning to love and learning to understand and communicate with each other. Wendi and Ambrose each had different reasons for getting married, but their attraction to each other interfered in the beginning. Due to Ambrose's past, he felt like he needed to be a perfectionist in order to have the respect of his congregation and towns people. He felt that Wendi was too beautiful for him as a preacher's wife. Wendi loved teaching the children, but Ambrose also learned lessons from her about life. It's a well written, beautiful story.
What a wonderful book! I absolutely loved it. The character development is outstanding and by the end of the book, I felt like I actually knew Wendi. The author drew me into the story and I could feel Wendi's kindness and her passion for teaching her students and treating them as individuals. It has a great storyline and I was so happy to find out what happened to Xenia. This is definitely one you don't want to miss reading. Kudos to the author, Danni Roan for this heartwarming book.
Wendi’s Wish (Alphabet Mail-Order Brides 23) Danni Roan A sweet tale of a mail-order bride and her adventure into teaching and marrying a preacher. I loved the connection between Wendi and Ambrose and how it helped them blossom. Wendi has a way with dealing with her students and helping them learn. She also teaches important lessons in life to the students who are unkind to her. Ambrose learns a lot from Wendi too. This story is filled with angst, kindness, laughter, and love.
This story was a fun and adventurous read I loved how certain elements of science and nature were developed into the story line. A realistic plot with many twists and turns that kept me guessing and reading until the end. I loved the times that water played a part in the plot too. My, I almost forgot about the mysterious sister becoming part of the story. Will definitely read more of this author!
Multiple authors came together to create this series by using every letter in the alphabet to name their characters and tell their stories. A very creative way to make reading even more fun. Wendi's story is a great addition to this series. I highly recommend you read this story and the others in this series. This is a great way to find new authors to follow.
It needs some edits though. There are a bunch of places where the character is speaking in quotes then ‘he said’ is also in the quotes, or the quotes end and the characters are still speaking. Also, when the girl is stung by the hornets it keeps referencing putting onion on to pull the stings out. It’s stingers. Lots of things like that which need cleaning up.
Loved this story! Ambrose has so many preconceived ideas that he comes off as cold and harsh. Wendi just wants to teach, but her way brings her criticism from her husband and community. Throw in jealousy from her older female students and you have a great story. Read this book to find out all its twists and turns.
I really enjoy reading the Alphabet Bridds. To find that this series was written by several different authors was awesome. You have all done well at keeping the ladies in each others lives even if only through correspondence. Am looking forward to the rest of the series.
A sweet clean Mail Order Bride story about learning to follow your truth. Wendi learns that she has more than just her new students to teach, but her husband as well. Ambrose is so straight laced after living a wind youth that he is afraid to love his wife. Lots of amusing scenes occur involving the students, it's a fun read.
that desperately needed a good proofreader! While I very much enjoyed learning Ambros’s story, and seeing how windy managed all the discipline problems not to mention getting to know George and Joan, I have a real problem both with the typos and with the timeline issue.
A fun loving adventure of a mail order bride and the antics that happen in town and schoolhouse as two strangers learn to get along and appreciate their different dreams and ideas.
I'm really enjoying this series about orphan brides. Each bride has her own unique story with all their interconnection, which makes for a very interesting read. I look forward to reading the rest of the books.
Wendi was really a smart young woman and she dealt with problems with children perfectly. Ambrose was very tightly wound and he really messed up a lot. Put them together at first and he was a mess. Great story dealing with a lot of life's problems.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Wendi was the type of teacher every child wants and she helps her new husband, Ambrose to become a better preacher. They both learn love is not easily to come, but worth the work to achieve a happily ever after.
Wendi entered the marriage as,a mail order Bride just wanting to teach. She soon discovered it was difficult being married to a stranger. Ambrose wanted to be a good preacher but had much to learn from his spunky wife about Faith and love. I enjoyed this story.
Oh what a great story. I loved the relationship with the students and how kind and patient she was. I love how she showed compassion to those who did her wrong especially her husband. She is the kind of teacher every teacher aspires to be. Wendy's story is a keeper.
I love how Wendi and Ambrose go through some ups and downs just like typical couples. There are interesting students who add to the overall story and I love how George and Joan help guide and mentor the new couple.
I really enjoyed this happily ever after story. It is a great part of this series. And if you have been reading the whole series this book contains a great surprise.😀
Wendi's Wish by Danni Roan is a good story with humor and childish drama. The preacher needed to learn his lessons and the teacher did a good job teaching.
