Includes the bonus story, "One Night in Christmas!"
Debbie Mason is the USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author of the Christmas, Colorado series and the Harmony Harbor series. The first book in her Christmas, Colorado series, “The Trouble with Christmas,” was the inspiration for Hallmark’s “Welcome to Christmas.” Her books have been praised by RT Book Reviews for their “likable characters, clever dialogue, and juicy plots.” When Debbie isn’t writing, she enjoys spending time with her family in Ottawa, Canada.
Evangeline Christmas owns a Christmas Store and a developer, Caine Elliott, is buying up all the stores to put up a new property. She is refusing to leave even though her business isn't doing well. What Caine's grandmother is demanding of him is really cruel. She wants to ruin a family in Harmony Harbor and won't stop at anything to make their lives miserable. I received this from Forever and NetGalley for review.
For me, it is never too early to be reading Christmas books. And when it is an installment in a favourite series, well, let me at it!
You do not have to have read the previous books in this series, but that being said, you really don't want to miss out on the goodness.
I have enjoyed the times I have spent in Harmony Harbor, and this installment is no exception.
When Scrooge comes to destroy the livelihood of Harmony Harbor's Christmas angel, well you know that sparks are going to fly - but will the be from anger or from attraction?
It was great seeing characters from the other books make an appearance, and there is a character that has been a big part of the story - well, let me just say I liked where their story went in this book.
I read this book in one afternoon, and now I am waiting for what Ms Mason brings us next.
I have so many feelings about this book that I'm afraid I won't do this review justice. I know that sounds kinda crazy but that's how I feel. I started writing this review in my head and I have to tell you, it was good! Unfortunately, I never remember totally what I was thinking so you're stuck with what I do remember wanting to say.
If you follow Debbie Mason than you know that Christmas in Harmony Harbor is the last book in that series. With Mason, you can't really say it's over because she sometimes likes to throw a novella into the series at a later time. Wishful thinking!
For those of us who have been reading this series, we've been waiting for this book. We all knew that everything was going to come to a head and all would be revealed. I've been both waitings for this and dreading it. I love this series and hate that it's ending.
Of course, she's starting a new one so I'm pretty happy about that.
But for now, let's deal with Christmas in Harmony Harbor. I think that so much happens in this book that your mind is going to explode. The good thing is that the author handles it all well and keeps the story moving at a great pace.
I totally love Caine. I feel so bad for him and all he has gone through. I'm surprised he hasn't made himself sick with all the conflict. He truly is a good guy who really wants to make those he loves happy. The funny part is when you fall under the umbrella of those he cares for he tries to move heaven and earth for you.
I also like Evie. I think she worked really hard to keep a family memory alive that meant something to her. She has her own family issues that aren't always the best.
Because I could go on and on about this book I'm going to try my best to start ending this review. Feel free to post to my Facebook page after I share this review if you want to talk more. I try never to give out spoilers in reviews.
As a whole, this is a wonderful story that I really enjoyed. I totally loved Caine's uncle and thought he was so sweet. There are things at the end that I was totally unhappy about and I also felt it was slightly rushed but that could have been men because I wasn't ready for the story to end. You'll have to judge the ending on your own.
I was also happy that our family ghost got her happy-ever-after. You'll love how she does. I'm so glad that I invested the time in this wonderful series and I'm going to miss them all. Do yourself a favor and pick up the series and get reading. You'll be happy! This is perfect for small-town readers.
Not exactly a page-turner but a good story to read. Wasn't overwhelmed. I guess I've watched too many HC movies and I'm not too impressed with them at all. Like someone said on FB -- 600 movies - 15 actors - 2 screenwriters - 2 locations and so on.
This book is the perfect mash up of A Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life. I can't put it any better than that. Throw some sexy romance into it, and you have this book. It was beautifully sweet, and I look forward to reading more and more in the Harmony Harbor series!
If you're looking for a sweet holiday themed romance with a few quirky characters and a supernatural element, Christmas In Harmony Harbor has got you covered. Read my full review here
I picked up this book for a couple of reasons. One, I was looking for all the holiday romances I could get my hands on, two I say that RaeAnne Thayne recommended this book, and third it had an adorable dog on the cover. I was super excited to check it out.
I love enemies to lovers troupes and this one sounded like it had a little bit of a You’ve Got Mail vibe going on so I was obviously looking forward to something like this to help get me in the Christmas spirit.
I noticed that it was part of a series but I also know that often in books like these, series mostly means reappearances of other characters from previous books rather than having the previous been play a larger part in the overall story. So I dove right into the holiday cheer and romance!
I don’t know that I loved this one as much as I have loved RaeAnne Thayne’s holiday romances but it wasn’t too bad! I will say though, that I did feel a little lost in the larger plot. I think there was a lot of backstory that I was missing out on especially when it came to the Gallagher family. I felt like I was missing a big chunk of important things when it came to how the family was related to the Elliots and what the long standing feud was all about. But I tried to mostly skip over all of those and focus instead on the romance.
I thought Evie and Caine had get chemistry and there was just the right amount of steam. It wasn’t at all trashy and it didn’t become the focus of the book at all, but I loved the sexual tension between both of them. I thought it made the story believable and they felt like a real life couple. It was a wonderful enemies to lovers story/romance.
One of the things I had a hard time with though was the ghosts element. I don’t know that I loved the supernatural elements of the story and frankly I didn’t think they added anything to the story. It felt distracting for me and it kept reminding me that I didn’t really know the full story of the Harmony Harbor series so I just had a hard time getting through those parts.
I also felt the story took a darker turn a little too late in the story. It suddenly went from a fluffy fun holiday romance to something darker and unexpected with stalking and attacks. I just think the story could have stood on its own without that part. I had a hard time with that part of the story. But overall it was fun read and I would recommend it to fans of RaeAnne Thayne, it was good but not great in my opinion.
4.5 Stars Every time I read a new book from Debbie Mason and sit down to write the review for it, I can't help but wonder what people must think about my reviews when I continuously talk about how much I dislike her heroes or their behaviors for a majority of every book then proceed to rate them 4 & 5 Stars. Today's review will not be much different. Lol.
I really, really disliked Caine Elliot for more than half of this book and most of the last book. He was, quite frankly, a big old jerk and so focused on money and pleasing his grandmother that he was simply not a nice person. Knowing that I always end up loving Debbie's heroes, I was hopeful but I was pretty worried this time around. There was a point in the book where, even when we started to see the sweet, caring side of Caine, that I still didn't like the way he was helping Evie be aggressive and confident in herself. However, after all was said and done...shocker...I am fully and completely in love with Caine Elliot and everything he did for Evie and the Gallagher family.
Now that we've gotten past my familiar ranting I need to discuss the rest of this book. I'm feeling both extremely satisfied and extremely sad because this is the end of this series. I'm so sad to see it all come to and end but I cannot describe how much I love how everything wrapped up. My favorite thing about this series is how, with each new book, a new piece of the puzzle that is the Gallagher family/manor mystery was revealed. At times, it was hard to keep up with all of the characters and how they fit in but seeing so many questions answered with the actual in person visit from Emily and knowing her true motivations for all of the trouble she gave the Gallaghers was perfection. It's hard to feel sorry for her after knowing everything she put, not only them, but her own grandson through and I can't say that I'm sad to see how she got her comeuppance.
For all the grief I give Debbie Mason and her characters, she writes the most amazing stories that suck me in every time!! Her world-building goes above and beyond and clearly she's an expert at character development. I cannot wait to see what comes next!!
I haven’t read a Christmas based romance that I didn’t like. Reading about two people falling in love during the most magical time of the year always gets me misty-eyed. So, when I saw that Debbie Mason had written another book in her Harmony Harbor series, I couldn’t wait to read it!!
I loved the plotline of Christmas in Harmony Harbor. It was fast-paced and well written. There was a spot in the book where it lagged. But the author was able to get the book back on track.
The storyline of Christmas in Harmony Harbor was interesting. It was a mixture of A Christmas Carol and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. It reminded me of A Christmas Carol because of the journey that Caine took during the time he was with Evie. Each task he had to complete had him reflecting on his past, present, and future. It reminded me of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas because Caine’s heart grew three sizes too large towards the end of the book.
I was surprised to find out that Christmas in Harmony Harbor was going to be the last book in the Harmony Harbor series. That upset me because I didn’t want the series to end. Hopefully, the author will start a new series that features a least some of the unattached characters (thinking Clio here). That way, I can catch up on what the characters in this series have been doing.
Christmas in Harmony Harbor can be read as a standalone book. But, considering the intertwining storylines, I would read the previous books. I wish I did because some plotlines were mentioned that had me going, “Huh?”
I loved Evie, but she was a hot mess. She was trying to save her family business and disrupt Caine’s plans for her house. But, she did make me laugh during the book. I thought her idea to win Caine over by using the Angel Tree was perfect. I also liked how she saw the best in everyone/thing. Like her shop. It was a rat, and mice-infested mess, yet she loved it.
I didn’t like Caine for the first half of the book. He was hellbent on getting revenge on the Gallaghers on behalf of his grandmother. But then he met Evie, and he started to thaw. He agreed to 3 wishes from the Angel Tree. It was after that scene that I began to like him. But, I wish that he stood up to his grandmother sooner.
Caine and Evie’s romance was cute. They weren’t expecting to develop feelings for each other. Caine viewed Evie as a PITA, and Evie thought Caine was the second coming of Satan. But I saw that spark. The minute that Caine went into the basement and faced down rats, I knew it. I loved it, even though it was Instalove.
I thought that the secondary characters made this book. Caine’s grandmother, GG, Seamus, Evie’s mother, and all of the characters from the previous book added depth to the story. My favorite was Seamus. I had this mental picture of this barrel-chested, handsome Irishman helping his nephew. My least favorite was Caine’s grandmother. Up until the end, she insisted on doing things that harmed everyone. I also couldn’t get past what she told and do to Caine. I did a mental “WTF” when that came out.
The end of Christmas in Harmony Harbor was bittersweet. I liked it because I got to see Caine and Evie’s HEA. But I was sad because the author is ending the series.
So I live Evie but didn’t like all of her actions. I like her generosity and caring but she didn’t show that completely to Caine. She only saw him as an enemy. She didn’t think that there was more to what was going on. She thought of her end goal. That I didn’t like. Yes the bet changed Caine but also caused more harm than good. It created friction and caused him to lose alot more than he could have imagined.
Caine was more than meets the eye. He is kind, gentle, loyal and sweet. He has a past that breaks the heart and his love for his grandmother and uncle is strong and wonderful to see. He has some insecurity that he hides well but he is also wicked smart. Little did he know that taking on Evie for his grandmother would turn his world upside down. Evie does help Evie see beyond his grandmother and helps him see he is a amazing person worth more than his money. Caine helps Evie see not everyone and everything is as they seem.
The story was entertaining and endearing. Watching Caine help others and his family he didn’t really know was heartwarming. Watching him with his uncle and the love he had for him was sweet. Seeing him care for Evie even when she thought he was trying to take her down was wonderful. He only ever wanted her safe and his grandmother happy. He didn’t want to hurt anyone and he knew that his grandmother’s wishes would but his grandmother was his world. She raised him and he felt he owed her so much but also couldn’t lose her like he did others in his life. She was his safety and he was afraid of losing her. Evie turned his world around and he began to see things differently. He wanted her in his life. He found her to be a breath of fresh air but he didn’t want to hurt his grandmother. You feel for Caine because he is in a balacing act and has the most to lose. yet his feelings for Evie can’t be denied and the leap off the pages. His kind heart does as well. You see what an amazing guy he is. Even in the end you see how big and amazing his heart is.
Debbie Mason has wrapped the series up with a wonderful story of family, loyalty love and forgiveness. She gave us two strong stubborn and yet caring and kind hearted characters in Evie and Caine that you fall for and love seeing them fall in love and find their way to one another and their happy ever after.
Evangeline Christmas will do anything to save her year-round Christmas store, Holiday House, when high-powered real-estate developer Caine Elliot uses his money and influence to push through his competing property next door. When her last desperate attempt to stop him fails, she gambles everything on a proposition she prays the handsome, blue-eyed player can't refuse.
Caine agrees to Evie's bargain because how hard can it be to fulfill three wishes on the Angel Tree at Holiday House? The wishes have him reliving the Christmases of his past and taking part in the holiday festivities of Christmas present. But just when he begins to believe Evie might be his Christmas future, dark secrets from his past are revealed.
Will the last wish on the Angel Tree be enough to give Caine and Evie the happy ending they deserve
My thoughts
Would I recommend it? Yes
Will I read more of this series? Yes
Would I read more of this author? Yes
This is the second book by Debbie Mason I've read and I'm hooked on this series , it always brings a smile to my face when I'm reading one, and makes me want more of her books. Their always sweet and adorable and so much fun to read.Plus it's never too early to be reading Christmas books. Another thing I love about this one is that its mentions 2 of my favorite movies I grew up watching the Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life.So if your looking for a sweet and adorable christmas book that will give you all the feels then you need to check out this one , with that said I want to say thank you to NetGalley as well as Forever for sending me a copy of it and letting me once again fell back in love with her books.
This is the second book I've read in Debbie Mason's "Harmony Harbor" series. I guess there are nine books in the series, so I'm sure I'll be purchasing the other ones to read!
This book, like all the books in the series, is set in a small coastal town in Massachusetts. In the two books I've read, Mason does such a wonderful job of describing the town, it makes me yearn to visit the town, especially since it sounds positively enchanting during the holiday season!
This story is about a woman--Evangeline (Evie) Christmas whose family has owned a holiday gift shop in the town for many years. A wealthy businessman and property developer -- Caine Elliott -- wants the property where the shop is located, so he can build the headquarters for his international company. Evie uses all her resources and creativity to preserve not only her shop, but the small town charm of Harmony Harbor and its many unique shops, which may be destroyed if Caine Elliott gets his way.
She makes a bet with Caine--if he fulfills three wishes from her shop's "Angel Tree," she would consider allowing him to buy her property and close the shop. Of course, she doesn't plan to lose the bet, and finds three wishes that would be very hard for Caine to fulfill, while helping him better understand the need to maintain the small town/community feel. At the same time, the wishes teach Caine more about himself too.
But she doesn't predict that while he is fulfilling the wishes, she learns more about who Caine Elliott really is, and begins to fall in love with the man who is trying to ruin her business and Harmony Harbor's small town character.
There are some wonderful twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages of this story. It's especially surprising when you learn that Caine and his grandmother have an unexpected connection to the owners of a local mansion/hotel. And that vengeance over a past injustice is driving his grandmother to destroy the hotel and the town, with Caine torn between his loyalty to his grandmother who raised him, and his conscience telling him to do what is right by the people of Harmony Harbor.
Evangeline has always loved Christmas, it has always been her favorite time of year but this upcoming holiday season isn't like the others. She has been fighting a developer in hopes of saving her Christmas store and things are looking bleak. When it looks like all is lost she comes up with an idea that she hopes will save her business. She makes a bet with Caine, the developer trying to take her store and her livelihood away from her. All he has to do is Grant three wishes and she will step aside but if he looses he has to leave her shop alone. Cause thinks all will be easy and that throwing some money around will fix everything but he soon learns that money isn't the answer for everything. Along the way Evie and Caine are drawn to each other neither knowing how to handle the feelings sprouting up around them. They both feel so much but don't know if letting go is the answer or if they should just push it all aside. Follow the story as love blossoms and does its best to find a way. This story will touch you emotionally having you crying one.minute and laughing the next. I love this series and am sad to see it end but look forward to seeing what new characters the author breathes life into next.
Christmas in Harmony Harbor was a cute enemies to lovers holiday romance. A successful real-estate developer, Caine Elliot, is the scrooge of Christmas in Harmony Harbor and is trying to buy out Evangeline Christmas's shop, Holiday House. After agreeing to a bet, he begins to be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas all while falling in love with a woman he is a total opposite of.
Evie is a young woman with the kindest heart. She adores everything about Christmas and embodies the giving attitude all year round. When her shop is on the line, she will do whatever it takes to keep it afloat. She asks Caine to agree to a bet that he can't refuse.
Caine always has his eye on the prize. He never lets feelings get in the way. He is supposed to acquire Evie's shop and move onto the next venture. Well, things don't go as planned.
As Caine spends more time in Harmony Harbor, he is reminded of what Christmas is supposed to be. It's a time to give, be merry, and appreciate the little things in life.
I loved the connection between Evie and Caine. They were opposites and didn't always agree on everything, but they had enough respect for each other to listen.
I give Christmas in Harmony Harbor 4 stars. Debbie Mason continues to bring the spirit of Christmas to life in this endearing holiday romance.
Christmas at Harmony Hill was your typical Christmas Romance - sweet with lots of do-gooding involved. I did feel that both the hero and heroine were a little too helpless. And they both had chances to do more than what they could be doing. I was a bit frustrated with them both because they couldn't/wouldn't change without a major kick in the butt.
This is a decent holiday romance. It's not exactly a novel plot, with a the hard hearted businessman trying to take over the heroine's business who turns out to have a heart of gold, but it was a pleasant read with a touch of the supernatural. It's part of an ongoing series, but it worked OK as a stand alone. It also included a short story from another of the author's series. 3.5 stars
Two great holidays stories by Debbie Mason. Follow Evangeline and Caine on their road to a happy ever after. Then see where things go when Adam and Sophia meet up after many years. I loved every minute of both of these stories and didn't want them to end.
Sad to see this series come to an end 😔 if you’re into a feel good holiday romance ,with a little bit of the supernatural thrown in,then this is the book for you! This is #9 in the series, but can be easily enjoyed as a standalone book.
I have really enjoyed this series and I am sad that this is the final book, but Debbie Mason did a fantastic job of closing out the series and answering all the reader's questions. As I was reading the end of the book I could not help but smile as everything came together full circle and the Gallagher clan was stronger than ever. I was surprised and delighted to find out about Simon. I am so glad that Colleen finally gets to rest.
I have really enjoyed the characters in this book and their trials and tribulations and how Caine learned money is not everything but love is. I also liked how part of the book took Caine through being Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and had him having to pick three angels off the tree for Christmas past, present and future. I think Colleen can be really proud of her family and Greystone Manor in the years to come.
I really liked the characters of Evie and Caine. It was fun to watch them fall in love even though they started out as enemies. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
What a great story! Christmas in Harmony Harbor is a fantastic end to one of my favorite series. It's sad to know there will not be anymore books featuring all the lovely people of Harmony Harbor, but I am so happy that this last book was so lovely. I've been such a big fan of this series. Christmas and a family of eligible handsome men, not to mention the meddling family ghost. Christmas in Harmony Harbor is definitely a fun addition. Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good enemies to lovers romance and Cain and Evie are just the cutest. Some of the things Cain did were so sweet, especially when you find out more about his past. Boy, his grandmother was a real piece of work though. Evie's just the sweetest person and it's hard watching her worry about what's going to happen to her store. I'm so so happy that it had a happy ending though and I am excited to see new books from this author. Debbie Mason is definitely one of my go-to authors and I just know I will love her next series just as much as this one. I highly recommend Christmas in Harmony Harbor and the entire Harmony Harbor series.
** I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review. **
Christmas in Harmony Harbor is the ninth book in the Harmony Harbor series by Debbie Mason. A heartwarming holiday romance that is sure to sweep you off your feet and tug at your heartstrings. Full of drama, family traditions, and the sweet magic of the holiday spirit making this a wonderful addition to the Harmony Harbor series! While this is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone novel. The characters are well-written, complex, and relatable. Both Evie and Caine have been hurt in the past and those scars at deep. The chemistry is off the charts! Christmas in Harmony Harbor is full of twists and turns with never a dull moment that is sure to keep you turning pages
Sweetly thrilling holiday romance filled with interesting charters, witty banter, exciting emotional twists and just the right tug on the heart strings..... was a excellent read from beginning to end. Loved every heart racing moment and heart warming turn of events.
2.5 - good like a Hallmark movie. This book was a cute read, made me smile and feel the warm fuzzies, but I probably wouldn’t reread it. I’d read more from this author though during Christmastime!

Review:
Christmas in Harmony Harbor is the 9th book in the Harmony Harbor series by Debbie Mason. This is the 6th book in this series that I have read. This is the last book in the series (big tears slowly slide down my cheek… but we as readers knew this series had to come to an end eventually ☹). And what a conclusion Christmas in Harmony Harbor is to the series.
Christmas in Harmony Harbor is the story surrounding Evangeline Christmas (Evie) and Caine Elliot (real-estate developer). Evie is in a bind, she must come up with a plan to save her year-round Christmas store, Holiday House. Caine comes to town with a plan to obtain and to build a large office tower and this project needs the land that Holiday House is on to accommodate the parking spaces required by a long-forgotten bylaw for this development. And let’s not forget, Ms. Mason is known for her romance SO this a fairly formulaic “hate-to-love” story – and you do NOT hear me complaining as this is where Ms. Mason excels. I was completely taken away while reading this story.
So we have angst between Evie and Caine. We also have further complications as Caine is trying to make his grandmother (Emily Green Elliot) happy… but Emily is not an easy woman to appease and she has a larger than life hate for all things Gallagher. So Caine is doing what he can to pacify her, but that seems to be at odds with what is best for the greater good of Harmony Harbor.
As a last ditch effort – Evangeline makes a bet with Caine that if he fulfills three wishes from her shop’s “Angel Tree,” she would consider allowing him to buy her property and close up shop. So this is where the fun begins. I won’t go into much detail as half the enjoyment of reading the book are through these wishes.
Colleen Gallagher (a ghost) is ever present, as is Simon (a black cat – who essentially does Colleen’s bidding, as best as a cat can as he is the only one that can hear and see Colleen). I love these characters and have throughout the series. Colleen, in fact has a suspicion about the true identity of Simon – “she’d become convinced he was actually the family’s patriarch, William Gallagher”. Time will tell as you read the book.
Throughout the book we see that Caine is reminded of what Christmas means: a time of giving, enjoying life by appreciating the little small things in life, peace and goodwill towards others. We see his evolution from hard and calculating businessman to the man that truly lets his heart shine through. And this is accomplished through the completion of the “three Angel Tree wishes”.
There is of course a number of subplots involving many of the residents of Harmony Harbor, which I also found very entertaining. It was like revisiting old friends. There was even one part that was actually a bit terrifying for Evie (and this reader). In the end, one or more HEA’s may have been had. The series wraps up nicely but in all honesty – it left me wanting more of this family!

Christmas is a time for family and traditions and that's something that Evie Christmas is hoping will help save her Holiday House from being torn down by Wicklow Developments and its CEO, Caine Elliot. Caine came to Harmony Harbor to build his office development and gain revenge for his grandmother on the Gallagher family, but he didn't expect to be charmed and drawn in by the local proprietor of the all-year-round Christmas store. Evie certainly didn't picture herself being attracted to the individual responsible for her home, her livelihood, and her family history possibly being bulldozed and cemented over, but she sees more behind Caine's Scrooge facade than he's willing to reveal.
When the opportunity presents itself to make a bet, the two agree that Caine has to successfully complete three angel wishes from the Angel Tree in Holiday House. Should Evie win she gets to keep Holiday House and should Caine win he gets to build his office tower. Needless to say, Evie and the town of Harmony Harbor do not make it easy for Caine in hopes that this Grinch's heart will indeed grow to love the town and its inhabitants.
Christmas in Harmony Harbor is filled with Christmas spirit... and an actual spirit, that of Colleen Gallagher. Her shenanigans in aiding her family members are at an all time high, which is what readers have grown to expect from the Gallagher matriarch.
I really enjoyed the two main characters of Evie and Caine and their dynamic together. I also enjoyed Seamus, Caine's uncle. He added an extra layer of fun to scenes within the book and I liked that he, like me, also loves a good Hallmark movie. From beginning to end, this reads like a soap opera starting with "I'm... a Gallagher!" to "Pirate treasure!" and I love every page of it :)
I enjoyed the "It's a Wonderful Life" aspect at the end. I did feel like the series of events after Emily comes to town were rushed, but that's because I would liked to have seen more of her within Harmony Harbor. She's such a maniacal, layered character, I wanted to see if maybe her Scrooge heart could have grown before her death. Same with the events after her death, I wanted more leading up to them finding the treasure — but with how much I love this fictional town and its people I’ll always want more! 🙂
I just can't wait to see what's in store for Evie and Caine in the future, especially since they're to meet at the Gallagher manor a year from the end of the book! I highly suggest the Harmony Harbor series of books to anyone who loves a great story and characters that you'll feel you can walk out your door and meet at anytime.

This was a feel-good romance perfect for snuggling down in a comfy chair with a warm blanket and a sugary cup of hot cocoa! I loved the whimsy surrounding the town of Harmony Harbor, and all of the character captured my heart. The secondary characters were just as original and charismatic as the hero and heroine, and I loved the element of the paranormal inserted into the story. Not enough to change the genre, but enough to add a spice of the mysterious unknown. This is a book that would appeal to all ages, all genders, and it would certainly draw any romance skeptic into the circle once they finished it.
Evangeline Christmas has been running her late father's year-round holiday shop, despite the constant griping from her mother to go back to her "real" job at the hospital. Although it has been a struggle, it's the memories and the love of the town that keep her there. But all of that is threatened when Caine Elliott, a real estate developer who wants to bulldoze her store to make room for his own project. It's all business to Caine, but to Evie, it's very personal, and soon the battle between them becomes heated. It leads to a bet - Caine must fulfill three wishes from Evie's Angel Tree before Christmas Eve, or he will abandon his plans and leave Evie's shop alone. If he wins, Evie must support his project and gain the support from the town as well. With the addition of a family secret buried in Caine's past, the holidays are looking to be very interesting indeed for the quiet town of Harmony Harbor.
Evie and Caine were well suited to each other. Polar opposites in temperament but exactly what each other needed. Evie was impulsive, eternally positive in spirit, and generous to a fault. Caine was serious, a realist by trade, and unbending in his desire for what he wanted. They both learned to give a little in this story. While I was not a fan of many of his actions, you could tell his heart was in the right place. He didn't enjoy being ruthless, but in his line of work, that was how he was used to getting things done. It took Evie to get him to see that there are always two sides to every story and blind loyalty could be the worst way to live.
I will be recommending this to my whole family this holiday season! This is exactly the type of book that they will love, and it certainly gets you in the mood for Christmas music early.
**I received a free copy from the publisher and this is my honest review.**
This is the last book (for now, one can always hope…) in Debbie Mason’s Harmony Harbor series and what a terrific ending it is. You really have to read all the books from book one to this book to get the full effect of the series and to really appreciate this one. I definitely recommend doing just that. I’m going to tell you a bit about this book but I’m going to be really careful not to try not to ruin any of the character stories that develop in the first 8 books (which is going to be really hard to do!!). Evangeline Christmas absolutely loves this time of year, I mean with that name she would kind of have to, but this year things aren’t going so well. This year her year round holiday shop is on the brink of being shut down due to a wealthy and powerful real estate developer named Caine Elliot. The town has been rallying around Evie but Caine has been getting the upper hand. Then Evie comes up with the perfect plan, she hopes. Caine has to fulfill three angel wishes from the yearly Angel Tree in her shop. Caine is absolutely sure he’s going to win the bet and in doing so the property by the time Christmas Eve arrives. However, Evie is using the wishes to sort of pull a past, present, future thing on him in some ways. As Caine begins to see that maybe Evie could be in his future, there are secrets that threaten both of their ever afters and, well, I think you need to read this book to find out how everything turns out everywhere! This was a good book and a nice ending story. It didn’t have a lot of the characters from the first few books in it, or at least they were so minor I sort of didn’t really notice their presence much. I mean they were there, but I think that I noticed a lot more of the characters from the last, maybe, three books. It was still nice to see where they were and to really see where some of the older generation were as well. I liked them a lot every time they were included in the stories and how they grew along with their children. I would definitely recommend this series. It was so much fun and it had so many characters that are the types you just won’t forget.
CHRISTMAS IN HARMONY HARBOR brings us back to one of my favorite series, Harmony Harbor. A coastal town full of quirky residents, loving families, and usually most people will “have your back” except for those few who value power over anything else – every town has them and Harmony Harbor is no exception. While I’ve learned to never say “final” to any series, indications are that this story will wrap up this series. And it does that quite nicely, of course, I have questions but for the most part, I was completely satisfied with how most of those “loose threads” were tied off.
Evie and Caine’s journey from enemies to a truly in love ending was magical to follow. There were twists, a few things I wasn’t expecting, definitely drama, but at the core are two wounded people discovering that together they simply fit, they work, and that is worth the fight to hold on to each other no matter what is tossed their way. It would be very easy to get caught up and tell you more than I should – so I’m simply going to say that I loved CHRISTMAS IN HARMONY HARBOR, it touched my heart, made me smile, got me angry, and gave me a Christmas to remember. If this is the final story then I’ll be sad to see old friends go – but knowing that I can always do a re-read of a series I’ve enjoyed eases that sadness.
If you love interesting characters, a bit of drama, enemies to lovers, and watching Christmas magic soften one man’s heart then you’ll want to pick up this story right now. Although I’ll always recommend reading a series in order – you could enjoy this one on its own with little confusion about who is who or why- what you’d need to know is mentioned. I hope you’ll step into Harmony Harbor, I believe you’ll love not only this story but the entire series.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
