With more than half a million books sold to date, Adam Croft is one of the most successful independently published authors in the world, and one of the biggest selling authors of the past year.
Following his 2015 worldwide bestseller Her Last Tomorrow, his psychological thrillers were bought by Thomas & Mercer, an imprint of Amazon Publishing. Prior to the Amazon deal, Her Last Tomorrow sold more than 150,000 copies across all platforms and became one of the bestselling books of the year, reaching the top 10 in the overall Amazon Kindle chart and peaking at number 12 in the combined paperback fiction and non-fiction chart.
His Knight & Culverhouse crime thriller series has sold more than 250,000 copies worldwide, with his Kempston Hardwick mystery books being adapted as audio plays starring some of the biggest names in British TV.

Before writing full time, Adam had previously worked as an internet marketing consultant, delivery driver and professional actor.
Adam has been featured on BBC Radio, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, The Bookseller and a number of other news and media outl
I really like the Culverhouse and Knight series. He’s loud and brash and she quiet and gentle. And I remember Knight’s story in the last book, Too Close For Comfort, and what she went through. And this was just as exciting.
This one was about two murders: one of a 17 year old girl, Danielle Levy and one of a businessman, Bob Arthurs, who both died from blunt force trauma and an acid bath, and Culverhouse’s attempts to blame the wrong person, again, (like he did in the first book.) He’s kind of funny about always trying to blame the wrong person instead of looking for other options, and Knight always pointing out the flaws of his off-the-wall accusations. It’s also about Knight’s coming back to work after all the horrible things that happen to her in the last book, and more crap that happens to her in this book. I think I have to listen to the other 3 Culverhouse and Knight novellas on Audible, just to see where it goes from here..
In 148 pages this told me about the murders, the suspects, and the twists when they found the killer. You can’t ask for more than that, really.
There’s no romance, no nothing, in this story. It’s only a murder mystery. The F-bomb is used 42 times.
As to the narrator: Nigel Patterson did do a little better with his female voices. His different voices for the men and his emotions are great.
I had my suspicions about why authors are self-published - but this book confirmed them, not even the most desperate publisher would have wanted to touch this. Clunky dialogue, unbelievable storyline. The only good thing about it was the length of the book - around 140 pages - with very short chapters, leaving lots of blank space - making it even shorter.
I am yet to read a book by Croft that isn't great. Another story that keeps me turning the pages. If you haven't read anything by him yet, please start. You won't regret it.
This story is part of a series so you might want to start with #1 Too Close for Comfort just to familiarize yourself with Knight & Culverhouse.
When seventeen-year-old Danielle Levy goes missing one lunchtime, DS Wendy Knight and DCI Jack Culverhouse believe they have a routine case on their hands.
Then a local businessman is found dead and the case takes a whole new turn as Knight and Culverhouse begin to unravel the cases and their connection. Didn't see this ending either which makes Croft's books even more interesting. Great suspense and story.
A well written and compulsively readable police procedural.
Twists and red herrings abound here.
This is the second in a series and I’m not too annoyed at having read it out of sequence.
I highly recommend this book.
This is my first reading experience of this particular writer’s work but if the rest of his books are as fast paced and cleverly written as this, I’m sure they’ll be brilliant too!
Knight is still taking actions that no sensible woman would consider; but I guess that's de rigour for this genre. Culverhouse is still channelling Gene Hunt, with just a smidgeon of John Rebus. The plot had just the right level of twists and red herrings. It was an easy read that I finished in one sitting. This pair of detectives are growing on me and I look forward to reading more of the series.
Book 2 in the Culverhouse & Knight series. I’ve been hooked throughout this series with twists and turns as the plots thicken. Cannot wait to read the next book ‘Jack be Nimble’
This is a very clever detective story and I did not work it out even though there were one or two nods towards the outcome. Really enjoying the sparring between Wendy Knight and Jack Culverhouse.
The author has shoe-horned a big plot into a small book. Police officer Wendy Knight is crimesolving along with an unreconstructed old fashioned thug of a copper.
This was another really fun read. Adam brought Culverhouse and Knight right back into another murder mystery. Even with their own personal baggage they manage to make sense of murder. Good read.
I found this book hard to get into a bit boring in places the only good part was the last little bit it is such a pity the rest of the book did not live up to its ending
Guilty as Sin is the second book by Adam Croft in Knight and Culverhouse series. This time our adventure begins with the authors words, “It was the last day of Danielle Levy's life”. What a wonderful way to start. Once again Mr. Croft takes us on a twisting adventure with DS Wendy Knight and her boss DCI Jack Culverhouse as they embark on a “nice little missing persons” case and try to find a killer who likes hydrocholric acid. Culverhouse believes he know exactly who the killer is, but is he right? The missing girl case keeps bringing up memories of Culverhouse's little girl that his wife ran off with not so long ago. Is this clouding his judgment and interfering with his decision making. What about Knight? Will a health issue be the end of her career? This one has quite a twist at the end. Another winner, Mr Croft. Can't wait to read the next installment Jack Be Nimble.
I bought all 9 Knight and Culverhouse books on a whim.
Book one showed promise, and I will read them all.
This one was messy. Too much mess, such as Knight’s recollection of the man “she loved. The one she had dated three times before she was uncomfortable around him.. Her pregnancy was idiotic. As was how stupid she was in book one with the car accident, driving drunk and having sex on the couch unprotected with her brother 10 feet away.
The plot of the mystery is good, but I think the author is struggling to get Knights’ and Culverhouses’ characters developed by adding a mess of side stories that don’t really add much and often have an unintended effect of causing the reader to dislike rather than root for his two main characters
DS Knight and DCI Culverhouse of the Mildenheath Police Station have two cases to investigate which lead them to a dark and disturbing secret. A 17-year old Danielle Levy goes missing and a prominent businessman is found dead in his warehouse. Soon they discover the two cases are linked together. This is a brilliant British story, gripping with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. I always enjoy Adam Croft's novels, and this one sure has a shocking ending! Highly recommend.
Where to start? It was like going back to the 70's and the Sweeney. Old time coppers that have no need for the niceties of modern life but get results. If you need to slap the accused about a bit, then don't leave any marks. Jack Reagan would be proud of Culverhouse
Women coppers are fluff and Knight seems to smile her way through it all and get the job done as well.
That said. Both books 1 & 2 have been a good read and I may download the next one in the series to my Kindle .... depending on how much? I'm a cheapskate.
If this wasn’t part of an omnibus, I wouldn’t have been inclined to read further than book 1. The first book was short with not much character development, and to be honest, not much has changed here. The difference is that you have more of a background after reading the first book, and you’re beginning to see how the characters tick. That being said, I wouldn’t recommend reading this as a stand-alone.
At least it's a quick read. It was a little bit of a surprise at the end, but again, I thought the characters lacked development, and the change was abrupt and weird. I didn't hate it....but I didn't love it. There's a bit of a development at the ending that makes me want to read the third book, and since I already have it, I will. But if I had to go out and find it, I probably wouldn't bother.
This book followed straight on from the last book. Although you could easily read it as a stand alone. You get to see a progression with the characters. Wendy has certainly been through the wringer. Jack is funny and dry and the two of them compliment each other. I had this book free from the Author Adam Croft, which was a treat. I am now going to look for the next one.
I got the box set which are the first three books in the Knight and Culverhouse Series. This is an excellent detective story which keeps you guessing who the murder or murders are. Could the death be linked? The main characters are developing which each book and Adam Croft introduces to the personal lives and feelings.
Not a bad book but there was too much plot packed into too few words. The lead characters are a bit wooden and some of the writing is clunky at best. I hoping this is just a writer learning his trade as I see the author has written many more books. It's worth more than two stars but not up to three. A solid two and a half star read!
2nd book in the series. Another easy read. I enjoyed this one more than the first, mainly because there were more characters which made it a little more interesting. I also enjoyed getting to know more about Culverhouse & Knight. Still had a twist that I hadn’t seen coming which was good so that it wasn’t too predictable! Looking forward to the third book in the series.
This was the second book in the Knight and Culverhouse series that I received free from Adam Croft's VIP club and although, once again, it was a much shorter novel than I normally read, it was slightly longer that the first but still a very enjoyable read.
There were various plots - a missing girl, an unexplained and mysterious murder - and the detectives had to find out whether they were linked and if so how and why. As the story evolved so the clues started to unravel and we are drawn into an intriguing and thrilling storyline that keeps us guess all the way.
I really enjoyed this and now feel compelled to buy the next 4 in the series to keep up with Wendy and Jack as there is also plenty of background story to these two characters which in turn are interesting and worth further investigation.
Adam Croft is an extremely good writer and I would highly recommend his novels to anyone who likes mysteries, thrillers and intrigue.
This was the second of the series and really enjoy reading it! A little different of North American police works but the way the author manage the main characters and keep the plot and suspense until the end is nice for us! Thanks the author for sharing with us his great talent!
I enjoyed reading the second instalment of the Knight and Culverhouse series. As a short read it works really well - the story was clear, logical and I was keen to find out exactly what did happen to Danielle Levy. Great read
Not always are crimes what they seem to be and someone really wants to put a bad guy away for his past deeds - even if it means a frame up. Watch closely can you spot the frame up or will you fall for the red herring just like the two inspectors are supposed too!
DCI Jack Culverhouse and DS Wendy Knight believe they only have a missing persons case when seventeen-year-old Danielle Levy goes missing. Then local business man Bob Arthurs is found dead. What are the motives and is there any connection between the cases. An enjoyable crime story
I really enjoyed this story. Although I was able to figure out the guilty party. I had the reasons completely incorrect. The twists are great. I don't want to write any spoilers but there are some dark areas in the story outside of the main story.
Grabbed this series at audiobooks to read while I was on night shift at work. Love a good murder mystery:) These books keep you on your feet the whole way though. And the main MC become and investment that you wanna see end up happy.
