A good book that helps new readers with the basics of reading. Watched a reading of this book online.

An early reader's introduction to the Statue of Liberty as a U.S. Symbol. The Scholastic Blastoff Readers is meant to support the development of at-promise readers with engaging features that support reading text and visual literacy. In Texas 1st graders explore US Symbols as part of their Social Studies TEKS and this is a succinct exploration that can be used as a read aloud or for independent reading.

I was a little disappointed that this book did not go into a bit more detail on the symbols on the flag. Why were the colors chosen, the design. Little minds love those details. Not enough substance to this book for my liking.
