When you take ass out of 'passion' you get 'pion' (pious to be exact). History tells in a million way why this can so true. And million reasons have lead bastards childs of idiot revolutionaries who revolted against Shogun family with a philosophy that emperor is the almighty to cause mayhem and unnecessary war not just among the Japanese but extended beyond Asia to the Pacific. Even to this day, Shogun family has been perceived as the cause of all the suffering and injustice, but history seems to show that order was kept in a serene way when the Shogunites dominated the feudal Japan. Hanzo's book shows us why romanticizing the revolutionaries of the late 1800 Japan is not necessary the most insightful thought. Great read, and no doubt this book will be kept as a true humble approach to the understanding of the Meiji revolution.
