Can one lost teddy bear make it home for Christmas? The little rabbits and mice who find him in the snow certainly hope so. A lost bear means a sad Christmas for him and for the poor child missing their friend. Together the animals, with a little love, spruce up this shoddy teddy just in time to make a very special Christmas for his lonely owner. This is a heartwarming story about the power of hope, persistence, and finding the way home.
A group of animals find a teddy bear lost under the snow. One of the rabbits hears it whisper, “I’m lost”. They dig it up and take it to the real Bear wondering who it belongs to and how to get it back to where it belongs. There they fix it up with a new button eye and clothes and stitches. The animals work together to fix it. Some birds think they have found the owner and so the end happens on Christmas even and the animals watch from the woods.
The artwork is beautiful and the snow is deep. The animals are sweet and cute and I love this story. It’s a lovely story of the Christmas Spirit of the season. I thought this would be about winter and it end up being a Christmas story. Giving can be such a beautiful thing.
The nephew thought this was a fun book. He loved seeing the animals find the stuffed bear and the story engaged him. It moved along. He gave this 3 stars. I’m impressed with his rating.
When a group of rabbits and mice found a soggy, bedraggled teddy bear in the snow, they aren't sure just what he is, or what they should do with him. Taking him to Arthur, the forest's grouchy but kindhearted bear, they discover that the teddy is some child's lost plaything. Together they do what they can to spruce him up, and with the aid of the birds, return him to his little girl...
Author Kate Westerlund and illustrator Feridun Oral, who previously collaborated on The Message of the Birds, return to the Christmas theme with A Whisper in the Snow. A sweet, warmhearted story is paired with absolutely gorgeous artwork. I'm an admirer of Oral, a Turkish illustrator with a particular talent for depicting wintry scenes, and he does not disappoint here. Recommended to anyone looking for Christmassy, wintertime tales about forest animals, lost toys, and the spirit of the season.
A bigger hit than I expected with a 3.75 year old. Generated lots of questions and ‘read it again.’ The detail in the pictures is minute, which is a little problematic, but the story and really beautiful depictions of the animals carried the day.
When a rabbit hears a whisper in the snow, they dig up a beloved, bedraggled teddy bear. They get help to fix the bear up and to return it to its owner just in time for Christmas.
This story is so, so sweet. And the illustrations are really well-done. It's a great, warm and fuzzy story that doesn't necessarily have to be about "Christmas," but it does provide a nice setting. It leaves you with a smile on your face.
(Bonus points for "How do we get the bear to the girl?" "It's Christmas Eve; we can put him down the chimney.")
Sweet Christmas story about a lost teddy bear who is found and returned. Just three stars for length. It was a little cumbersome to read aloud and didn't keep kids' attention. The illustrations are stunning and the sentiment heartwarming.
If this was a wordless picture book it would have received 5 stars from me, the illustrations were lovely and told the story perfectly. The text was too wordy and I skipped much of it when reading it aloud.
A rabbit hears a whisper in the snow and finds a child's lost teddy bear. Rabbit and his friends decide to find its home. Cute Christmas story. Beautiful illustrations. (If I could I'd give 3.5 stars because I found parts of the story didn't flow well, although it's a sweet story. )
Can one lost teddy bear make it home for Christmas? The rabbits and mice who find the bear in the snow believe that he will. Together the animals spruce up the lost bear with a vest, a new eye, and a bell, so he will not get lost again. Then the animals join together to find the bears family. This is a heartwarming story of perseverance and finding a way home.
Sweet book that embodies the character traits we try to instill in our kids. Kindness, Caring, Empathy, Compassion. Most successful read 1-1 with your teddy bear and someone you love. I found it difficult to read aloud to a class. Too much dialogue- in some parts it is every sentence.
Charming story about a teddy bear found in the woods. The animals fix up the much loved bear while the birds locate his owner. They return him to end the book. There are a few choppy transitions that a younger reader may have trouble following.
We enjoyed the basic story, but the transitions from page to page were lacking. I actually checked multiple times to make sure I hadn’t missed a page at the beginning because the start of the story was so abrupt.
A story about animals who find a lost teddy bear in the snow during the Christmas season. Pretty illustrations but almost completely dialogue to be a good read aloud book to a group. More meant for two.
A tender Christmas tale to help a Teddy Bear get home. This books is on my list to read every year. A heartwarming book about never giving up, and helping each other! The illustrations are magical, and the animals are so sweet!
A poor little teddy bear gets lost in the snow. It reminded my daughter and I of Toy Story when the toys get left behind. This one does have a happy ending.
A really sweet Christmas tale of some forest animals who save a little loved teddy bear and return it home. Reminiscent of Velveteen Rabbit while being a very different story.
