The Breakup Plan

Rate this book
Am I guilty of sleeping with Gray Freshman year? Yes, I am. Have I spent the last two and a half years avoiding him like the plague? You better believe it.
Grayson McNichols can have his pick of girls on this campus. Just ask him and he’ll tell you that the females of Hillsdale University have a real penchant for sexy, hockey playing hotties. Hell, all he has to do is flash a smile in their direction and they fall right onto their backs and spread their legs.
Would I happen to be one of them?
Umm…I’m going to plead the fifth on that one.
All right, fine. You caught me. I made the mistake of knocking boots with Gray freshman year. What can I say? I’m a sucker for gorgeous guys with inky black hair, bright blue eyes, and dimples. And don’t even get me started on his chiseled chest and abs of steel…
After we hooked up, I never heard from Gray again. Not that I expected too. Okay, that’s a lie. Maybe for one brief, delusional moment, I thought I might be different. You know, the girl who changes the hockey playing bad boy for the better (cue the laughter). But he swiftly disabused me of that notion by moving on to fresh meat in the blink of an eye.
Which is precisely why I’ve avoided Grayson like the plague ever since.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, and I totally deserve what I get.
Well, I don’t plan on falling into that trap ever again.
Except…now our parents are dating, and Gray’s come up with a cockamamie plan to break them up that has disaster written all over it.

The Breakup Plan has all the NA sport romance. The colleage experience, roommate, sport and the frat parties. What is missing is the depth of the story. I think Miss Sucevic meant her story to be light and straigtforward.

I do not enjoy nor hate it. Some of the banter are pretty funny. Especially Grey. Whitney is bit tough to shallow. She is needy and sometimes annoying.

Wow this book was great! I love a good college romance and this one has definitely been one of the best. This book just made it to my favorites list for sure! Grayson is your typical college athlete but I have to say his pov made this book. It was so fun to be inside his head. His sense of humor was simply amazing! I don't want to go into detail and spoil it but this book should definitely be on your to be read list of you haven't read it yet! Ahh this was great! And that ending???...oh Jennifer what a joker you are! Had me going for a minute there. (If your wonder if what I'm talking about then I guess you just going to have to read and see for yourself! Mwah haha) I have to say though I'm kinda bummed I can only put 5 stars on this. Lol.

Liked but didn’t love... found the main characters to be very immature... and how many times did we need to read about all the dozens and dozens of women Gray dipped his wick into? Like, we get it 🙄.

The story itself was cute, but very predictable... I liked the side story with the roommate.

Review by Lisa Kane

This author never disappoints! Grayson's POV is hilarious. He's on the fast track to play for the NHL and he's pretty much god's gift to women. And boy does he know it! But in his freshmen year (he's a senior now) he hooked up with Whitney. It was the best night of his life, but he was young and stupid and not ready to get serious with one girl. So he blew her off, never told her that he really did like her.

Whitney has held a grudge ever since the night she slept with Grayson and he blew her off. And with good reason. He's a player who hooks up constantly. But he constantly tries to engage her in conversation, usually under the guise that he wants them to hook up again. She has no time for him and he gets off on that. He's used to girls falling all over him, she's the one that wants no part (and I mean NO part of him again!)

Grayson is a guy and if women are going to throw themselves at him and offer to do anything and everything...well he's not going to turn those invitations down. But he has to admit, it is getting a little old. It's not as much fun as it used to be. And when the hell is Whitney going to give him another chance?

When they both find out that Grayson's mom and Whitney's dad are dating (and neither of them is crazy about this) Grayson has the perfect excuse to see Whitney more. He comes up with a plan to break up the parents' relationship. Consider it a bonus that Whitney has to hang out with him on the regular for their plan to work.

The dual POV's just make this story, how two people can think so differently adds just the right touch. Grayson is just so clueless and Whitney, well maybe she will admit to herself that there is a fine line between hate and love!

3,5 stars. This book finished abruptly. I had the same experience with other books of this author. It even finished at 89% of the book, the remaining pages teasers for other books. Not cool.

This story is one I’ve read before, but not with the two MC’s trying to break-up their parents. Although the title makes you believe this is the main plot of the book, it isn’t. It is the reason both MC’s have to spend more time together.

Gray is a manwhore and had a hook up with Whitney in freshman year. Not wanting to commit, he ignores her and leaves her heartbroken. He had multiple, let me rephrase that.. MULTIPLE (!!!) women over the years. Thankfully Whitney wasn’t waiting for him and hooked up as well, but was more cautious who the lucky guy was. Gray just accepted every female who offered to spread her legs for him. But he always had a thing for Whitney, but she stayed far away from him. Their parents are in a new relationship and both MC’s are not happy. Gray believed his parents might get back together and Whitney feels the new woman takes over her mother’s place, who died 9 years ago. The break-up plan it is and the more time they spend together, they start a romance. Although I wasn’t a fan of Gray in the beginning of the book, I did warm up to him. He was actually a real sweetheart.

Safe read. Hero manwhore galore! No sex with OP or cheating. OW drama: there’s one girl who Gray hooks up with regularly and she causes drama. She’s all over him and I was disappointed he let her and didn’t push her away. This happened multiple times. OM drama: a roommate of Gray is interested in Whitney and causes some jealousy. He turns out to be a douche canoe, toying with Whitney’s friend to get to her.

This one wasnt too bad but 2 things bugged me.

1) the guy on the cover (to me) is meant to represent the guy in the story and I'm sorry but no college boy would look like that hes far too old.

2) college kids trying to break up their parents? Little immature

This would have been a 4 star rating had there been less repetition about the male MCs playboy ways. I enjoyed the love/hate aspect between the two MC, even though Whitney was a little bit too much of a hard arse. As for Grayson, he was charming and persistent. Was a slow build up between them and I thought there would be more focus on them trying to breakup their parents, but it had more to do with them and resolving what happened a few years prior. A nice, enjoyable read.

I am not the perfect audience for sport and/or college romances, but sometimes everything is right, and this story by Jennifer Sucevic (an author new to me) was wonderful.
Whitney and Gray hooked up once, and since he has hooked up with almost every girl on campus, she tries to ignore him, but he is always there. A planned lunch with her father has her bumping into Gray outside the restaurant, and when they get inside, it turns out his divorced mother is dating her widowed father. What follows is a reverse 'Parent Trap' as Gray and Whitney try to split their parents up by using a fake relationship between them as a catalyst. But Gray has an ulterior motive, to win Whitney's heart.
Humour, angst and steamy scenes make this a terrific read.
Loved it.

I had just finished "Tucker" by Jillian Quinn and it had essentially the same exact story but I liked this a bit better. Wow!! What are the odds of same plot....pretty good because they are neither very original. I've read many many college hockey romance and they are quite similar. Too bad there isn't a more original story....

Yeah I don't think I can continue reading this when my chest hurts with how angry it's making me. And how creeped out I am with the "charming" MC.

After the fmc told her best friend/roommate that it's her fault that she ended up in bed with Gray, I just gave up. No more for me. It pains me literally.

🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕

Yup it's her best friend's fault.

It's her fault that Viola (fmc) chose to push her best friend into some guy she thinks is a match for her bestie, even though her best friend didn't want to be introduced.

It's her best friend's fault that she left her alone with him so they could get to know each other.

It's her best friend's fault that Gray corners her outside the restroom, manhandled her, grabbed her, not letting her go no matter how many times she says she wants to leave and to let her go.

It's also her best friend's fault that she agreed to having one drink with him despite EVERYTHING he's done to her.

It's the best friend's fault that the *reason* she agreed was because she wants her bestie and the guy to have more alone time together. (Even though she could've left them alone WITHOUT drinking, and WITHOUT being with Gray. AND HER BEST FRIEND DIDN'T EVEN FUCKING WANT HER TO DO ANY OF THIS! Lol sorry I'm getting heated again.)

Best friend's fault that she didn't stop with one drink or two or three, and that she also didn't even think to stop and text her best friend to let her know where she is and if she's okay.. Or ask if her best friend is okay since she was left all alone with a guy she wasn't all too familiar with.

All of that is definitely the best friend's fault, of course. 😊 sarcasm

I've read so little of the book but the red flags from the MC are just, phew, wow. Especially after reading ALL the reviews here, I see he has even MORE red flags up his sleeve.

But here are the ones i've read til half of chapter six:

-He hooked up with the fmc during their freshmen year once and since he is not willing to commit to monogamy (I think he wants the opportunity to sleep with the whole school first), and since he thinks that she's the type to want monogamy, he ghosts her and made an effort to avoid her. While he proudly beds every woman in his sight. (Sooooo hot)

- They're seniors now, so three years have passed more or less. It's not clear when exactly he stopped avoiding her, but he started to harrass tease her for her attention every chance he gets now. And he thinks he's being charming asf (Maybe it's made clear in later chapters, but I kind of doubt it).

-He "gets" why she's mad at him because of what he did, but he still acts like an immature boy about it. Still teasing her about what happened between the two of them in bed, not acknowledging or mentioning how he ghosted her hard.

-He knows being lewd with her is not gonna get him another chance to do the hokey pokey, but he still does it because sexual harrassment is fun and turns him on.

-He also thinks it's funny to push her buttons and play with her emotions constantly. He gets hard when she's genuinely mad at him. (I mean it's one thing if they're in a relationship, it's kinda sus and very toxic, but if that's your relationship's dynamic and both parties are aware and consenting of this "anger kink" leaving both satisfied and satiated, it's fine for me, you do you. But when the woman is actively trying to get away from the man getting hard because of her emotional distress.... It's just.. different)

-He thinks "no" means "yes".

-He's VERY grabby. It gives me goosebumps. Not in a good way.

-He grabs her arm on the way to the restroom when she tripped and didn't let go even though she asked him to a bunch of times and told him that she wants to leave __ times. 🚩🚩🚩

-He nips at her neck, without consent at that same moment.

-When his "go-to" bunny, who he was planning to puck that same hour got back from getting him another beer, he didn't think things could go south real bad if he didn't do anything to diffuse the situation. He does nothing and acts all nonchalant about the situation.

-So then, the bunny insults the fmc's body in front of everyone. Repeatedly. He doesn't do anything to stop the bunny, all he does is stop the fmc from retaliating, cause he's still holding her captive.

-No matter how b*tchy the bunny is being he doesn't wanna burn bridges. So when the bunny says that the fmc "has no boobs", he says in an attempt to soothe her.. "I don't think she meant it like...". (Nope, that just shows me you'd rather protect your regular bunny than protect the fmc)

-As soon as the bunny crossed her arms across her chest pushing out her cleavage, he malfunctions like a fifteen year old boy. He ogles and appreciates them and reminisced about the hours of fun he had playing with them, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FMC WHO WAS JUST INSULTED FOR HAVING NON-EXISTENT BOOBS!
(He's just amazing isn't he?)

-Then the bunny "spilled" her beer onto the fmc's shirt. And she still can't defend herself because she's being held against her will by the mc. When she wants to retaliate he says to her "Take it easy, Tiger. It's just beer. No big deal." Glares at the bunny, "I'm sure it was an accident, right?" (I was like.. SERIOUSLY? If you're that adamant on protecting your bunny just fucking let go and spare me this nightmare.)

-She was practically begging to leave now because her shirt is white and she doesn't have a bra on. People are everywhere and her shirt is see-through now. What does our heroic mc do? Yup. He removes his shirt, then he removes HER shirt right there, while she's fighting him off and without asking for permission.
I bat at Gray's hands but it doesn't do any good. He rips the shirt from my head, leaving me exposed.
(Wow, not all heroes wear capes)

-For the life of me, she thinks she has to say thank you.. And he agrees. "A simple thank you will suffice for the time being." He says. So she says, "Thanks".

-He persistently persuades her into having one drink in the kitchen, when she tells him again she wants to leave.

(She thinks it'll benefit her best friend if she stayed away for longer, giving her bestie and the guy more time to get acquainted, that's the reason she used as to why she agreed. She "thinks" that's her "taking one for the team", that's why she says it's her best friend's fault that she ended up in bed, drunk with Gray. Which is such a stupid and weak plot device, it made me wanna punch a wall)

-Then after more than a lot of beers, they wake up in bed together. But he's not sure if it's the bunny in bed with him or the fmc, so he tries to remember. (Isn't that romantic?)

-He was all naked but she was in her underwear. So he decides to mess with her. He kisses her while she was asleep. He doesn't need consent ever. And when she woke up, he acted like the red flag he is. He made her think they had sex while she was out of it. And made her think that he f*cked her in the ass even though she's horrified by the thought. He thinks it's so funny how scared she was. (Yay r*pe jokes, what an impeccable sense of humor, so charming)

-The things he says and how he says them. And how he can't stop himself from touching, grabbing, kissing, nipping her without consent, while she's trying to get away from him is just.... Gives me the chills, the bad kind.

🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

And then the body betrayal syndrome from the fmc in the first chapters.... After everything that happened, I just can't. No thank you. Not for me.

If you like Sam Mariano's books, maybe you'll like this though.

I read the Kobo version.

(I'm sooo sleepy, maybe some of this doesn't make any sense, i'll see if I can edit this review tomorrow)

Whitney and Grey hooked up their freshman year of college, but when Grey dipped without a reason, Whit wrote him off. In reality, Grey really liked Whit, but knew he wasn't ready for a relationship, so he ghosted to avoid hurting her.
Fast forward to the present and Whit has done a good job shooting Grey down until their senior year. It's your typical "she doesn't throw herself at him, so of COURSE he wants her"/"he's a man whore who may or may not change his ways for her" storyline, with a side dish of The Parent Trap. See, her dad and his mom invite them to dinner to let them know they're dating, and neither Grey nor Whit like it very much. And Grey's *genius* plan to split them up is to fake-date Whit. Yep... That's the whole plan... Except it backfires. Because the 'rents don't care and now he's getting feelings for Whit (stronger than before). As they continue to fake-date he realizes he could be monogamous with Whit.
There's never really any major conflict between the MCs, his loyalty is never tested, which is disappointing to me. There were SEVERAL times he let one of his main casual hook ups just faun all over him without stopping her, even right in front of Whit. Meanwhile, if a person with a penis so much as LOOKED at Whit, he went into a jealous rage. I get the dude being a LITTLE hypocritical, but it was too much. I would've appreciated at least ONE scene where he put casual hook up on her place and publicly claimed Whit, instead of just making Whit look foolish constantly.

Whit's roommate/friend was the worst. I would've popped her in her mouth if I were Whitney.

This is the only book I've read by this author that I really really REALLY didn't care for the MMC. His outlook on monogamy might've changed, but he had zero character development. Now that I think of it, neither did the FMC. Character development was sorely lacking in this book.

I didn't like any of the side characters.

Grey slept with SO MANY women while our girl Whit was a bit more selective. I just hate this idea that the men can sleep their way through the campus and treat women as breathing pocket p*ssies with legs, and that's okay... Like 90% of the time they can't even be bothered to remember the girl's name.

The spice was okay

Okay, upon further consideration, I have to drop my ranking from a 3.5 to a 3. The book wasn't horrible, but it wasn't the best. And I doubt I'd recommend it, but I also wouldn't dissuade anyone from reading it.

I picked up this book with high hopes, planning to read it during my lunch breaks at work. With the year almost over, I’ve been trying to squeeze in as many books as possible, and I was in the mood for a fun, engaging college sports romance. Sadly, this book turned out to be a big disappointment.

Let’s start with the characters. I couldn’t connect with either of the main characters, which made it hard to enjoy the story. The hero was the typical "manwhore" type—charming but incapable of keeping it in his pants. The heroine, on the other hand, started off as a strong, confident woman who seemed immune to his games, but then she fell for him at the first smirk. It felt inconsistent and frustrating, making her character hard to root for.

Gray, the hero. He didn’t have the depth or charm I expect in a fictional love interest. Instead, he felt like a generic, cocky athlete—nothing to make him stand out. Honestly, he reminded me too much of the guys I deal with in real life, and not in a good way. If I’m reading romance, I want to escape, not feel like I’m stuck in a bad reality.

Then there’s the blurb. When I read it, I was excited—it hinted at tension, clever schemes, and maybe a bit of drama. But none of that was actually in the book. The plot was flat and predictable, and any tension that could have been there was completely missing.

The side characters didn’t add much, either. They felt immature and overly exaggerated, like they were trying too hard to be funny or dramatic but just came off as annoying. Instead of adding depth or excitement, they dragged the story down even more.

In the end, I was left feeling disappointed. The characters were frustrating, the plot was dull, and the writing didn’t have enough spark to make up for those flaws. It’s a shame because the concept had so much potential, but the execution just wasn’t there.

Would I recommend it? No. If you’re looking for a good college sports romance, you can definitely find better. For me, it’s a hard pass—thank you, next!

The Breakup Plan takes readers on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, tangled pasts, and unexpected connections.

The story unfolds with an intriguing mix of regret and attraction between the protagonist and Grayson McNichols. Sucevic paints a vivid picture of their complicated history, highlighting moments of vulnerability, mistakes, and unfulfilled expectations.

The narrative promises a blend of humour and heartfelt emotions, exploring the aftermath of a past hookup that left the protagonist feeling used and disregarded by Gray. The tension between their history and the reluctance to revisit past mistakes creates a compelling backdrop for the story.

The unexpected twist of their parents dating and Gray's unconventional plan to break them up adds an element of chaos and conflict, setting the stage for a narrative filled with humour, drama, and the potential for rekindled feelings.

Sucevic appears to craft a story that navigates the complexities of relationships, second chances, and the blurred lines between attraction and self-preservation. The character dynamics promise an engaging journey of self-discovery, forgiveness, and the possibility of love amidst chaos and unforeseen connections.

The Breakup Plan offers a blend of wit, passion, and the exploration of past regrets, showcasing a narrative that teases the potential for redemption and a chance to rewrite the future.

Not my favorite but decent

After finishing this book just now I went and looked at the date it was written as it seemed a bit juvenile for her writing style I’ve become familiar with. Yup, looks like this was an earlier book which explains a lot, thankfully.

Not knocking the book, still a good read, just not up to her current caliber of book, obviously, since this was a way earlier write. Jennifer Sucevic has definitely found her writing chops today though!

I had a hard time feeling the relationship between Grey and Whitney. He seemed SUPER immature for a 23yr old about to be drafted to the NHL and Whitney came off a bit like a goodie two shoes slightly better than everyone else. Was a weird dynamic, one I didn’t believe. They didn’t really have anything in common and their characters weren’t fleshed out even to make me believe they had chemistry.

Don’t get me wrong, Jennifer will still be an instant click for me as I’ve loved the other books I’ve read by her but this particular book fell a little short. I got into and finished pretty darn quickly but I’ve just been trained to expect more from this author.

Overall, a decent read that had potential to be a great read but, alas…it just wasn’t actualized in the end.

I gave this 4 stars the first time I read this and I think it still might be 4. Or 3.5.

It's a good story in many ways, what troubled me was that at time Gray's actions are a little past possessive and have a bit of a date-rapey vibe. It's not his intention, but it's a pretty good characterization of how guys can be clueless or indifferent to how their actions are perceived. Whitney's internal dialogue and words to him often suggest she doesn't feel totally safe, but he chuckles about it, not having any actual sinister intent. But that's not always clear to her. It's uncomfortable to read his lack of awareness at times, but he truly doesn't intend to harm her nor does he actually harm her (though he doesn't always have clear consent for kisses/physical touch), so that's where my ambivalence comes in.
I still think it's a good story, but if I was teaching university students about consent and being aware of your partner's feelings, I would put this on the reading list and for discussion.

Gray y...

College Sports / Hockey Romance

Grayson (Grey) McNichols - plays for the college hockey team and is a senior. He has his eyes set on NHL. All he's ever wanted to do is play professional hockey. When he broke his leg and hip, he was told he would never walk without a limp. Then he was told he would never play hockey again. Grey has really worked his way back from this horrible injury to be back to playing at the level he is at.
Grey's parents broke up and divorced last year. He thought they would be getting back together, but, so far they haven't.

Whitney is a senior at the same university as Grey. They actually hooked up when they were freshman and have avoided each other ever since. Whitney lost her mom 9 yrs ago, and her dad has never dated, or been with anyone seriously since. Whitney has noticed that it's harder and harder to get in touch with her dad, usually he always answer her on the same ring.

One night, Whitney and Grey are walking into the same restaurant about the same time. Whitney can't believe they are outside the same place together. However, when they see that their parents are at the same table together, they aren't sure what is going on.  They both find out that Grayson's mom and Whitney's dad are dating (and neither of them is crazy about this). Grayson has the perfect excuse to see Whitney more. He comes up with a plan to break up the parents' relationship. However, that plan is for them to be 'dating'.

Grey and Whitney have feelings for each other, but, it takes fake dating each other for them to realize this. But are they better at just being friends? Or will this fake relationship actually be real?

I did receive a free ARC Copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.

I was hesitant in liking this book. Gray seemed grabby and the idea of two adults breaking up a happy relationship just coz Whitney didn't like the Gray was so childish to me.

However, once I saw that they were kinda mature in handling certain situations in front of them, I grew to like them. First, was the way they handled their feelings. There wasnt that much push and pull, but I appreciated that once it was out in the open, they didn't hesitate to embrace those feelings and took a chance at a relationship.

I also loved that once they saw their parents being legitimately happy with one another, they conceded and decided to let them be happy.

The whole conflict and resolution was really fast, imo, but I did appreciate that Gray knew what he wanted and was able to fight for what they have. I also appreciated that Whitney did not fight too much and that there was no unnecessary drama in the end.

It's a simple story. That one concert and one stargazing date would make them fall in love was almost ridiculous to me. But the fact that they have been in this love-hate thing for three years made me accept it somehow. I just wish there were more pages showing this love blossoming though.

Gray and Whitney previously hooked up freshman year, both catching feelings but Gray wasn't ready for a relationship. This was supposed to be an enemies to lovers, but Gray never hated Whitney and she didn't really not like him either. He hurt her feelings so she kept him at a distance. Their parents begin dating and are super serious so they make a plan to fake date to try to get their parents the breakup. I don't think they spent enough time with their parents for their relationship to effect the parents', so their plan actually sucked. Gray and Whitney were very cute together. I love that once the fake dating started to be real, there wasn't a huge miscommunication mess and that Gray put his feelings out there. Usually in fake dating the men always chicken out and run. There isn't a third act breakup, thank goodness, although Whitney tried it. Luckily Gray can communicate so we didn't have to deal with that shenanigans. Her friend was awful and didn't deserve to be forgiven so easily. She was very mean to Whitney over a stupid boy and believed him over her best friend. It was nice of Gray to comfort her and encourage her to speak to Whitney but Whitney should've made her grovel a little more

This story was a short and sweet one.

Gray and Whitney had hooked up freshman year at a party years ago and have been avoiding their feelings towards one another ever since. Now, it's senior year and Gray still can't help but engage in conversation with Whitney whenever he sees her. Being the manwhore that he is, Whitney tries her best to avoid him at all costs, including any party she knows he will be at.

When they both find out their parents are dating, their initial reaction is to break them up. By doing that, they come up with a plan to pretend as if they were dating, only I don't think for even a second that it was ever pretend. After seeing how happy their parents are together, they leave them be and focus on their relationship. With little obstacles in the way, it doesn't take long for Gray to win Whitney's heart over and as you can guess, the two have been together ever since.

This book was cute, short and had me instantly loving the pair together. They couldn't be more perfect for one another.

4 Stars.

This is light, low angst entertainment. Gray and Whitney don't have any major conflicts. Their parents have been secretly dating which upsets them and there is a plan to make the parents break up. It's not much of a plan to begin with, and it gets quickly abandoned. Gray's friend Evert and Whitney's friend Katelyn are the cause of some tension, and there was no resolution with Evert. I was entertained by the banter and finished this in almost one sitting.

But I do think the shallow manhoe athlete trope gets a bit old. You know, those guys who play team sports and have never had a girlfriend because they prefer to celebrate their wins and losses at wild parties, hooking up with one dimensional bimbo characters for meaningless sex. The chances are all the ladies are falling all over the hero to have threesomes or foursomes with him. But he wants only the heroine because she plays hard to get. They argue for a while but she's secretly lusting after his rock hard.... abs, so there you go.

This was a bookfunnel freebie with no expectation of a review.

A fun book

Jennifer Sucevic writes sweet, fun rom-coms and that is exactly what The Breakup Plan is.
Gray has quietly hidden his attraction for Whitney for 3 years, pretty much since they hooked up as freshmen. He has been a pest, teasing her and popping up as an annoyance. He has no idea how to get on her good side.
Whitney hasn't gotten over being a one-night stand 3 years ago. It's about time they get together.
Gray is sweet in a jock way. He has never been in a relationship and doesn't know how to navigate around one. Whitney is untrusting of him and rightfully so. Their reason for faking a relationship is kind of funny and who knew their true feelings would finally come out?
Gray is sweet and a bit dumb when it comes to understanding women. Whitney is a hard sell.
I loved these 2 characters. The book is fun and their road to love is sweet.

I thought I was going to love this but I can only say I liked it. I would recommend but I wouldn't read it again. There was something about the MMC (Gray) that I didn't like. I get it he slept with loads of girls but come on we don't need to hear about it every other chapter! And how he handle Savannah, had steam coming out of my ears!!!! Stop letting her grope you and lay all in your lap if you supposedly have feelings for Whit!! I enjoyed the side story with Whitney's room mate.

The book was well written and I absolutely love anything Jennifer Sucevic writes. I just prefer my fictional men to be completely obsessed with the FMC and not think about other women once they start having feelings.

Gray and Whitney are a fun couple. Their banter is fun and relaxing. Whit is trying to stay strong and not show that Gray does get to her. When there parents start dating Gray coming up with a brilliant idea of telling their parents that they are dating also in hopes that the parents break up. Gray is trying to make their fake relationship real while Whit is trying to keep the lines clear. Gray has never wanted a relationship but can’t get Whitney out of his head since freshman year. Now that he has Whitney he is doing everything make her realize that they are perfect together. This is a fun book. Loved everything about it.

wow

Wow, just wow! I really enjoyed Whitney and Gray’s story. It was a little predictable and slow in a couple of places but overall enjoyable. My question to the author is who proofreads your books? It’s very sad when throughout the book or the main character is Grayson McNichols, but in chapter 22 all of a sudden he becomes Grayson McKinnon. Seems like you need a new proofreader, that wasn’t the only mistake just the biggest one. I am a huge fan of Jennifer‘s books and I’m sure they passed through many hands before being published so a big mistake like this just shouldn’t happen. Can’t wait for more

This author writes the same shit for every book. The heroine secretly likes the hero but treats him like crap. All other women around the hero are beneath the heroine, they all have fake boobs, extensions & piled on makeup in the heroine’s mind. 🤦🏻‍♀️ this is such a played out annoying ‘not like other girls’ trope. The insanity that boob jobs are plentiful for people 18-20 is insanity, you can lift up the heroine without shitting on every other female around her.

Every book is wildly immature with drawn out scenes that add nothing to the plot.

I give this author chances cuz the premise sounds good but then she biffs it 💩

Jennifer has become a one click author for me since I recently discovered her books, and I did the Breakup Plan in audiobook form. This book was so good I really enjoyed Whitney and Grey, they may have fallen for one another in an unconventional way, but that didn't but a damper on the feelings they both had for one another. I absoluely enjoyed the narration of this story so much it kept my attention perfectly.

Not bad, well-written, I liked the MCs. Different spin on step-siblings trope. Hated the fem MC’s bestie. 3 year friendship and she pulled that? Snip snip I’d be cutting that cord. I liked how the fem MC acknowledged it would take a while to repair their relationship, certainly more realistic. Also liked how the plot didn’t follow the same outline all other romances do. It was refreshing. 3.5 stars for my appreciation.

I’ve binged so much Queen Sucevic that I knew the name Gray McNichols was familiar, but couldn’t put my finger on it. It took me all the way until the end of the book where Colby’s book was recommended to realize that this was the story of Colby’s parents.

I’ve discovered how much I love Jennifer’s books in the last few months, but this was honestly my least favorite I’ve read. However, I didn’t hate it too much because I read it in one day/finished it at 2am.
