"Brad held up a lantern, letting the light pool around them. It was quiet here....Shadows stretched on the whitewashed stone..."

Brad and Julie, power couple, love to flip houses - the older the better!

Well, Julie loves it and Brad doesn't mind it.

Well...he used to not mind it.

"This had to be the worst flip they'd ever attempted."

The latest house they bought, the Hemmings House on Bedlam St., is proving to be a challenge.

It's well over a hundred years old, so along with all the regular issues with an older flip, the house is simply unsettling.

"There was something about this project that turned him off. From the moment he entered the house, his skin crawled..."

Turns out, the abandoned-looking house was never truly abandoned.

Will they be able to flip the house? Or will they be the ones flipped?

(sorry, couldn't resist that last line!)

I enjoyed this book - it was a fun and quick read. Just the right length for an evening on the couch with a cup of cocoa.

I really enjoyed all the scenes with Brad alone in the house - Cash certainly knows how to turn up the creep factor!

I thought that the relationship between Brad and Julie was realistic - the bickering and tension was rather well done for such a short book.

The little bits of humor was spot-on for me - the side characters definitely did their job to add some much-needed levity.

"Georgia Oaken. She talks to dead people."
"Stop right there, partner. No exorcisms allowed."

The one thing that threw me off was that we would get all the perspectives - the humans (Brad and Julie) and the ghosts (Tess and Gerald).

By getting the perspectives of the ghosts early in, that took away some of the fear and trepidation I felt.

Maybe it's just me, but I am never afraid of what I can see, only what's hidden behind the door or tucked in a dark corner.

That being said, the flashbacks and the plot development were put together well and I definitely had a fun time with this novel.

With thanks to the author for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever considered “flipping” houses? Hopefully, your sweat equity will pay off in a big way; maybe you’ll even find valuable treasures left behind. What Julie and Brad Evans find in their latest fixer-upper is way more than they bargained for! Hidden rooms, hidden valuables and hidden ghosts are part of the surprises in store for this couple. There is something about the house that Brad doesn’t like, but Julie insists it’s a gem in the rough, as a matter of fact, she would like to live there, but are its current occupants willing to share living quarters with them?

How do you explain feeling like someone is watching you, touching you, taunting you? Brad feels an entity; Julie thinks he is just upset because she wants to keep the house. The current occupants have been there for decades, and their restless souls are in what seems to be an eternal conflict. When strange events start happening, over and over, love is tested to its limits, the unbelievable becomes reality; is it time to call the Ghost Busters?

The Flip is another of Michael Phillip Cash’s creative forays into the world of the supernatural that may have you jumping at every strange sound you hear, at least for an hour or two, late at night, in the dark… then again, you may be a romantic that loves a good love story from beyond! Either way, Mr. Cash has done it again, with just enough scary to have you looking out of the corner of your eye for movement, just enough tension to put a stamp of reality on being a house flipper, and more than enough writing genius to keep you glued to each page! He has built a world that feels real as we follow him through each dark hall and around every unknown corner. His characters are so well-developed; you can picture them in your mind and “hear” their words!

Michael Phillip Cash can spin a tale that will hold you captive and wanting more when that last page is turned, and The Flip is just one of his many great reads!

The Flip is written by Michael Phillip Cash and is about a married couple that flips houses.

Julie is the wife and works full time, devoting her additional time to flipping houses to gain enough capital to one day quit her job. Brad is the husband who is very handy at fixing things around the house, which leads him to meet Julie. He does most of the dirty work with the house flipping.

When discovering a house with a price that is just “too good to be true,” Julie can’t pass up the opportunity to fix up an old house on Bedlam Street in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. She can’t help but fall in love with so many quirky and antique features, even dreaming of fixing it up enough to turn it into a Bed & Breakfast. Brad does not feel the love for the house that Julie does and views the project as more than it is worth. He finds himself hating the house more with each moment he spends gutting it out and fixing it up. Not long before the project is begun, there are a series of strange occurrences that seem only to be logical if explained by paranormal behavior.

Cash has written a book that delivers believable humans, and also paints a picture of paranormal duo with a rich history between them. It is very interesting to read this book from the living and the paranormal aspects equally.

The Flip is a fast paced read and easy to get into, it is easy to picture many of the features and events that take place. Unfortunately I was also left with a lot of unanswered questions in relation to things such as the sentinels. I couldn’t find the rapid pace of the romance between certain characters as being plausible to suddenly speed up and show acceptance with such a small event. It made no sense that this power would not have been exerted over the annoying paranormal duo before now.

Overall, I give this book 4/5 stars. The beginning and the middle of the book were spectacular, but the end and the wrap up were enough to bring a lesser book down to a mere 3 stars. The quality of Cash’s overall writing and the way that a reader can get into the book make it hard to award less than the 4 stars. I wish the ending was completely scrapped and rewritten, or perhaps the books had more events to lead up the final outcome. I would definitely read another of his books, and hopefully there will be better closure. I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading fiction, historical fiction, romance, paranormal, ghost, military, civil war era, etc.

Let me introduce you all to Brad and Julie Evans. They are

house flippers. With a get in clean up, fix and sell. They are doing pretty good for themselves. Until the day they found the house on Bedlam street. An old Victorian manor. The Hemming house as it is called. They start to clean out the place but there are some strange things going on . As Brad finds out, there are things going on that will test his patience and test the bonds of his and Julie's marriage. Will they survive the flip.

This is a great ghost story. Its not your typical run of the mill ghost story, This is a gentler yet in my opinion a better written story. The author doesn't resort to graphic violence or gore in his stories . They are written with a passion that will keep you turning the pages. There is usually a twist in the end that will make you think wow.

The characters of Brad and Julie are very well written. Brad is a hunky ex military man, who would do anything for his wife Julie. He is the brawn in the flipping game . Julie is the smart no nonsense woman that keeps Brad grounded. The other characters in the book Tess and Gerald are well written . Loved how the author went back and forth between the characters stories, seamlessly . Even the mention of the underground railway has a part in the story. Tess and Gerald are the ghosts in the story by the way. Tess is on a mission to make Brad hers. Enter the sentinels , who will stop Tess when she gets a little too randy . Which is most of the time. The way it ends will make you happy and smile . There are things that will make you giggle and also go what the heck .

This was a page turner for me . Once I started reading I couldn't put it down until I was done. I had to figure out what was going on. Why Tess was the way she was and will Brad and Julie survive the onslaught of what was happening. Will the house ever be ready to sell , will they sell and what about the Tiffany lampshade that they found in the secret room. There is something in the secret room but not going to tell you. You have to read the book to find that out. I am not going to spoil that for you all .

So, if you love a great ghost story with out all the graphic violence and the gore of most stories. Michael 's book is for you. Michael is now an author that I will be keeping my eye on. He is on his way to becoming a great horror writer with a hint of authors gone by. He doesn't need to be graphic to keep his audience entertained. The story will do that all by its self. So if you like ghost stories with a love story mixed in . I will strongly suggest you check out Michael's book . Great summer read for the campsite or the pool, I promise you will not be disappointed one bit .

Review of The Flip by Michael Phillip Cash The Flip is about Julie and her husband Brad who have taken to flipping houses for a living. Hoping to make a profit off an old fixer-upper mansion; Brad, wanting to flip it fast, and Julie, wanting to make it a Bed & Breakfast, can't seem to agree on anything and are bumping heads more than usual. The house and its former inhabitants have secrets that are unveiled as the couple try clean it out and spruce it up before it gets flipped. Will their relationship survive forces that cannot be seen? You'll have to read it to find out. This light paranormal story intrigued me with its setup and kept my attention throughout the entire story. It was a little light for my tastes and I wasn't expecting the romantic elements. The secondary characters (apparitions) consisting of Tessa and Gerald were an unlikely pair as demonstrated throughout the story and I was hard-pressed to accept the ending that was given to me after all the time that they've been cross with each other. It was a satisfying story that can be consumed in a short sitting.

I have always thought it would be cool to be a house flipper. It amazes me that people can buy what looks like a run down piece of nothing and turn it into a showplace. That is why when I started reading this new book by Michael Phillip Cash, I thought that it was going to be a bit of fun mixed in with a bit of scary. I was not disappointed in the least.

I will tell you though what it is not. If you are looking for a straight up, hiding under your covers, blood and gore type book, this is not it! Honestly, I was glad about that.
Also, the book starts off a little slow but picks up as it goes. I saw the necessary reason for this and eventually it becomes a very fast read. Again, no disappointment there.

What this book is though, is the paranormal coming out to play in very interesting ways. The main characters are trying desperately to make this house into a good flip only to be taunted by the previous inhabitants who have no intention of leaving anytime soon. This causes strife between the couple and the one person that works for them too.
A budding love story is present but not so overwhelming that it comes off as more of a romance novel than paranormal book.

As with other books that Michael Cash has written, he expertly combines the past with the present making for a good story within a story, a little bit of history is thrown in this one too. I loved this and totally made sense for the entire book.
What I also loved is how some characters from previous books make a triumphant return. However, I will not reveal those but it was a nice twist in the plot and made for fun reading.

I do caution readers that there is a bit of adult language in this book and mild sex scenes but nothing too raunchy not to want to read it.

Fantastic read and another 5 stars for Mr. Cash.

I discovered Michael Phillip Cash last summer and have since devoured everything he a written. This story has all the hallmarks of a great ghost story. The old abandoned Victorian house, the creepy feeling of being watched, and a love story for the ages.
This story does not disappoint. Cash weaves in modern components with the historical detail need to make the ghosts story as compelling as the living characters.
Go buy this book and all the rest by this new master.

REVIEW

I have read Mr. Cash's books and he never disappoints. I believe out of all the books I've read of his, this goes to the top. House flipping is what the young couple in the story do. This is how they make a living to survive. Everything seemed to be going good in the house flipping part of their lives, that is, until they get a too good to be true house. When they are in the house, they get the feeling that they are not the only ones there. They' re soon to discover that they have other occupants in the house. This is after they decided to stay in the house while they were getting it ready. They soon discover what is living in their house with them, Spirits, a man and a woman. They' re not human, nor are they of flesh and blood. This was their home and they weren't giving it up. A bad situation begins, when one of the Spirits sets her sights on the husband. The ghost keeps embarrassing the husband by feeling him. The other Spirit has it's sights on the wife. The ghosts aren't mean just mischievous. There are also sentinels in the house. They are a different kind of ghost. The female ghost fears them. This is where the story actually starts. For me it was a fun read, exciting, scary and just a plain creepy read. I liked the way the author meshed the living and the dead. I guarantee you won't want to set this book down. It's a keeper to put on the bookshelf to read again and again. The twisted ending will amaze you.

I didn't find the book to be one of those book that has blood and gore. It's just a good interesting rEad of the paranormal.

I was given a complimentary copy of THE FLIP from Michael Phillip Cash for my view of the book. No other compensation took place.

I love a classic ghost story. Creepy old house. Trapped souls. Likable characters with no idea what they are getting themselves into. Michael Phillip Cash's THE FLIP has all of this and more. Brad and Julie are a young married couple trying to make a living flipping houses. This is no early-morning infomercial glamour couple. Brad, a former soldier back from Afghanistan, is a guy from a humble background trying to find a place for himself. Julie is a little more upmarket--surface details matter to her--but she's working full time to support them until the flipping business takes off. Buying the Hemmings place, a dilapidated mansion on Long Island's north shore, is her idea. Brad holds a lot of resentment about being talked into it. This resentment fuels much of the drama, as the energies at large in the house amplify and twist his negative feelings. There are times when I doubted whether Brad and Julie's marriage would survive.

The two ghosts, Tessa and Gerald, hail from the era of the American Civil War. They have their own romantic drama that has been playing out. These phantoms start out a bit on the campy side, especially man-eating Tessa, but they develop their own charm over the course of the novel. There are also other supernatural beings in the house. The Sentinels seem to be guardians of some sort, but their exact nature and function, and why they are so interested in Brad and Julie, is never made quite clear. Cash does a great job creating a thick, menacing atmosphere. There's a sense that many layers of supernatural activity inhabit the house...that the structure is literally alive with history.

I do wish THE FLIP was longer. It isn't that the pacing is rushed, but rather that there's too much story, too many tantalizing plot threads left unexplored. At one point, Cash alternates his chapters between the present day and the Civil War. We get to see Tessa and Gerald alive, which is great, but it opens up the plot in a way that, for me, is too quickly resolved. I would have preferred he either kept us in the present and left the ghosts' pasts more of a mystery, or added thirty pages to the book so that past and present seemed more in balance.

Taken as a whole, THE FLIP is a fantastic book, and The Hemmings Place is the sort of house I'd love to visit again and again.

Julie and Brad Evans are house flippers. I didn’t even know what flippers were until I read this book. Flippers by houses for very little money, and then clean them up to sell and make a profit. Sounds like fun to me until I read the rest of this book. This time I think Brad & Julie bit more off then they can chew because they bumped into something other than reality.

Enter Hemmings House on Bedlam Street in scenic Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. It was a great deal, but what out what goes on behind close doors & stinky piles of who knows what. The old Victorian Mansion has dwellers that did not want to be evicted or dispossessed. As Brad keeps digging things start to happen to him like a complete change in personality. Saying things to his wife he wouldn't normally say. His wife loves the house, but he hated it. While the dwellers work on him the story really takes off and gave me the chills at time, but I could not put the book down. Will the couple survive this house… will their marriage survive “The Flip?”

This book held my interest from the first page especially when the dwellers of the house started to talk. Didn't like the gory pictorial wording in the first part when he said how dirty the basement was, but when I got passed that it really started to become interesting. I’m not much of a reader, but this one definitely held my interest and I’m not going to say anymore because I have a tendency of giving things away when I become this excited about a movie or book. They definitely should make a movie out of this one.

Julie and Brad Evans flip houses for a living. They buy each house for a song, clean out the previous occupants' various abandoned items - things that can typically be classified as junk - and then they attempt to sell the houses for a profit. With the economy the way it is, business has been going relatively well for them - not necessarily tremendous, but certainly on a positive upswing. The couple just puts it down to the state of the housing market.

Their latest flip is Hemmings House; situated on Bedlam Street in scenic Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. It's too good a deal to pass up, but the house comes with an ominous secret. Apparently, the ghostly previous occupants of this stately Victorian mansion do not wish to be dispossessed; and they're determined to cause any amount of bedlam among the living in order to stay right where they are. Will the Evans' new marriage survive their time spent inside Hemmings House?

It took me only a day and a half to read this book - and I absolutely appreciated that the story flowed along so easily. This is actually the fourth book that I've read by this author, and I must say that Michael Phillip Cash certainly knows how to create the proper atmosphere with his writing. The Flip has all the elements that I generally enjoy reading about - old houses, ominous secrets, ghosts, and a young couple with marriage troubles. Add in my latest interest; house flipping, and I'm hooked from page one. I give this book an A!

Wow! I didn't want to put this book down! It is a fast-paced, exciting read.

What is it like to flip a house? Well, not all of us are brave enough to take something like that on. Especially not a haunted one.

The author takes us on a tour of the grueling, stressful project of rehabbing an old Victorian house, while bringing in a likeable couple and their unlikely adversaries. The historical twist really grabbed me. A must read ghost story!

I am a huge fan of HGTV. Yeah, I’m that 30 something sitting at home on a Friday night with a bowl of popcorn watching the latest episode of "Property Brothers," "Rehab Addict," "Fixer Upper," or one of my favorites "Flip or Flop." I can’t tell you the number of times that I have text my mom and sister while watching an episode of "Flip or Flop" and telling them that this is definitely a business that we need to get into; we could get rich for Pete’s sake! The problem with my train of thought is that we don’t have investors to back our move and flipping is illegal in Ohio. All of that is beside the point because we really aren’t here to discuss Ohio law. Let’s talk about something more interesting, shall we?

Michael Phillip Cash is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Having recently read his sci-fi novels about Darracia, I was anxious to find out if Cash would be as successful in the paranormal/suspense genre. His latest novel, The Flip, didn’t disappoint.

Julie and Brad Evans are house flippers. That means they buy low, fix things up, and try to turn a house while making a profit. One night, purely by accident, they stumble upon Hemmings House on Bedlam Street, an old Victorian Mansion. Unable to pass up a really good deal, Julie and Brad invest and that is when the “fun” really starts. As strange things begin to happen they must determine if they dealing with an old house with ancient bones or if perhaps there is paranormal activity.

Michael Cash has created a masterpiece filled with suspense, mystery, a bit of history, and so much more. The characters are well developed and quickly drew you into the novel; Tessa made me giggle. Thanks to the easy flow I was unwilling to put the book down and read The Flip in one sitting. Cash’s writing is pure genius, he is able to hold you captive and wanting for more as you turn the last page.

The Flip, like all of Cash’s novels, is a spectacular read and one that I highly recommend.

4.5 stars, but worthy of rounding up.

Flipping houses has been a thing people have done for ages, buy a house, fix it up yourself and sell it for a profit. Julie and Brad make a good team of flippers and since they are married they get to easily share the profits. All seems to be going well, until they come across the Hemmings House. Julie falls immediately in love with it...to the point of wanting to keep it and turn it into a bed and breakfast. Brad, however, is creeped out by the house and wanted to flip it as fast as possible. Does Brad have a valid reason for being a bit hesitant on even wanting to be IN the house let alone living in it?

Considering that the house is essentially haunted by two beings, Tessa and Gerald, who do not want to leave, yes Brad's nervousness is validated. These two lived during the 19th Century. Gerald is and has always been madly in love with Tessa and she has had eyes for every man except the one who would truly stay by her side through all eternity. Why are these two still around? Is there an unsolved mystery or some other situation that is keeping them on this plane?

I greatly enjoyed this book. It was well written and a lot of fun. The characters, living and ghostly, are all quite entertaining. Julie and Brad seem like a very likable couple who get along very well and have a wonderful relationship. They have teamed up to begin earning themselves a nice nest egg for their future and the ghostly hauntings of their most recent purchase begins to cause some problems. Tessa, is the main reason for these problems. She is....well, to call her a whore may be a bit much, but she sure does like the men and she thinks VERY highly of herself and her toying with the handsome Brad makes for some very uncomfortable situations between him, Julie and even, poor, Gerald.

Find out what happens to Julie, Brad, Gerald and Tessa in this hauntingly enjoyable book, The Flip by Michael Phillip Cash.

I was excited when I stumbled across this book. The premise sounds interesting. The execution didn't live up to it.

A couple buys houses and flips them. They're new at it. They buy this dilapidated mansion and weird things start to happen. Was I supposed to be scared? I wasn't. Was I supposed to be creeped out? I wasn't. Was I supposed to care? I didn't.

Out of fucks photo: behold no fucks to give beholdnofstogive.gif

I just don't care. I finished it because I was curious how the author planned to tie up the ghost story. We went a few hundred pages reading about them, how much trouble Tessa is, blah blah blah. Then within the blink of an eye...BAM!!!! It's all solved and packed into a pretty box. The end. Pffffft. It was way too forced and rushed and boring. Now I need Kate Daniels to rescue me from this state of boresville I'm in.

I have read all of Michael Phillip Cash's books. There has not been one I have not loved! He is a master at the Horror/Thriller/Suspense genre.

Michael Phillip Cash has done it again with his newest book "The Flip". I read it in one sitting-I could not put it down-no way no form no shape could I put this one down! It is the story of a young couple who flip houses. When Julie, the wife, spots a really great deal on an ancient mansion up on a hill she has to have it. She is really thinking about making a bed and breakfast out of it instead of flipping it. Hubby, Brad, who does most of the work really isn't too happy but they end up getting it anyway.

As Brad is cleaning, or trying to clean this mess of a place strange things start to occur-and things keep occurring that get stranger and stranger! You see, this old house is haunted. The female ghost is really something else-I found myself laughing over some of her antics-the male ghost is pretty benign and is still waiting for this lady to realize that she belongs with him! Their story is told in part as well.

Over time it is Brad who wants to keep the house and Julie who wants to get outta there! Talk about a jealous female ghost! However while going through the attic Brad finds items worth a LOT of money and he is bound and determined to get every penny they can.

How does this all pan out? I really suggest you read this book--you will love it. 5+ Star from me!

About the Book:

Julie and Brad Evans are house flippers. They buy low, clean out the old occupants junk, and try to make a profit. Enter Hemmings House on Bedlam Street in scenic Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. Too good a deal to pass up, but with an ominous secret. The old Victorian Mansion has dwellers that do not want to be dispossessed. As the house reveals it's past, will the couples marriage survive The Flip?

About the Author:

Born and raised on Long Island, Michael has always had a fascination with horror writing and found footage films. He wanted to incorporate both with his debut novel, Brood X. Earning a degree in English and an MBA, he has worked various jobs before settling into being a full-time author. He currently resides on Long Island with his wife and children.

My Review:

Michael Phillip Cash, has taken an innocent house flipping venture and turned it into a terrifying escapade. To be inside this man's brain would be down right scary if not crafty, and divisive. Julie and Brad Evans have "flipped" many houses, but when this one deal comes across their path---they decide they can't pass it up. The price is just too good to be true, little did they know, the reason behind the low asking price. The feeling of being watched is enough to give anyone chills even if its words on a page. The author is very good and scaring the pants off of his readers. This book will give you a good scare, that's for sure!

I was asked by an agent to review Michael Phillip Cash’s novel The Flip. I received a paper back copy in exchange for an honest review.

Cash, a talented storyteller, crafts a paranormal story of a young couple’s purchase of a large, old Victorian mansion they intend to restore themselves and quickly resell for a profit. Several Civil War era characters, including a voluptuous railroad heiress who has amorous designs on the handsome young husband doing the restoration, haunt the mansion.

Cash has a fluid, crisp style of writing, with vivid descriptions of his settings, and realistic dialogue. Further, as a person who has had more than a few encounters with spirits, I find his portrayal of them remarkably true to what I have experienced.

The novel is a quick read with well-developed characters. Cash switches scenes between the antebellum era and the present in a seamless way that progresses the story. The crux of the plot is that everyone just wants to be loved. You will not find blood and gore and scenes that will send you shivering under your covers, but you will find a truly enjoyable ghost story.

The actual printing of the pages was off a bit with some pages having only one sentence in the middle of the page. This bothered me.

I highly recommend this book to people who enjoy a quick read, a great story line, and who have an open mind about the spirit world. I think Cash has many more great stories to tell. I’m saving my five stars rating for one of those. This fine story gets four stars.

I have always found it interesting and even a bit amazing when I hear about someone flipping a house. I know I couldn't do it! It takes a special someone to be able to turn a run-down house into something worth so much more. I have to admit, having read Mr. Cash's other books, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. This one had me intrigued from the very beginning, and kept me wanting to keep reading until I was finished with the whole book. I literally could not put this book down until I knew how it ended. It was a little slow in the beginning but what I liked about this is that I was able to really get to know the characters this way. Mr. Cash has a real knack for doing this with his characters! This isn't a horror story and there isn't violence and gore, which is fine with me. I actually prefer that it is a paranormal story. Julie & Brad Evans (two of the main characters) are trying their best to successfully flip the house while they are being taunted (and haunted) by mysterious inhabitants. I love how Mr. Cash brings the past into the story and mixes it with the present. I don't want to give away how it all comes to an end but I will say it isn't predictable which makes it fun and interesting to read. I actually have to give kudos to Mr. Cash this time. This is one of his best books yet! I honestly think it may be my favorite so far and can't wait to read his next.

Mr. Cash has written a really interesting book combining the past and the present with some very unusual situations occurring.

Julie and Brad Evans are house flippers and usually buy inexpensive houses that they can invest little money in and flip for a profit. When Julie finds the Hemming’s House on Bedlam Street in Cold Spring Harbor she cannot resist the old charm of the house even though it is going to needs lots of repairs.

When Brad starts working on the house, he is not prepared for the previous owners to keep showing up. Things are becoming strained between Julie and Brad, as he wants to quickly finish the repairs and flip it. Julie on the other hand envisions it as a beautiful Bed and Breakfast and wants to do more then the minor repairs.

Unusual things start happening when Brad and his buddy are doing repairs and Julie finds weird things happening to her also. What they did not expect was to find a wealth of hidden treasures packed way in boxes thru out house. A big surprise and a wonderful way to help pay for the costly repairs.

I found this to be a rather fun and quick read as once you start reading you are going to be asking yourself am I the crazy one? I truly enjoyed it and would recommend it as a good read.

I received this book free from the author, through Bostick Publications for an honest review.

And honestly........I LOVED this book.

The book is primarily about Julie and Brad Evans, who are a young married couple, and also, house flippers. This means they buy old, abandoned, junky and so forth houses, clean and fix them up and try to resell them for a profit. I really want to watch more HGTV after reading this book. And more GhostHunters.

Brad and Julie buy the Hemmings House on Bedlam Street in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. It is literally a mess. Brad thinks they're in over their heads; Julie wants to fix it up and turn it into a bed and breakfast. Little do they know, they're not the only occupants.

One of the things I liked most about this book was that not only do you read the present day story, but you get the past story of the "other" occupants in the house and it all ties together to bring the story full circle.

This is a ghost story, mystery, and love story all combined into one story.

Michael Phillip Cash has several other books; I have not read them all BUT I do own them all now. I can't wait to read more!

I gave 5 out of 5 on this one.

The Flip, by Michael Phillip Cash, is the story of a young couple, Julie and Brad, trying to supplement their income by flipping houses. Brad is also a little lost following his military service and isn’t sure what he wants to do with his future. The latest flip is a house that is a little more work than usual due to the age of the house and its invisible inhabitants, two Civil War era ghosts. There were also some other entities in the home that weren’t very well explained, but they seemed to be more in control of the two ghosts, Gerald and Tessa.

The story does go back in time to explain the lives of the two before they became ghosts. Tessa was a woman of low moral character in life, and her aggressive attentions toward men continue in her afterlife. The interaction of the ghosts and the real life couple cause even more strife in their relationship.

This isn’t a terrifying ghost story because it relies heavily on relationships rather than an intense paranormal story. It is a quick and enjoyable read with interesting characters, both alive and dead.

I loved thid book. The second I've read by this author and I've loved both of his books. They are hard to put down, he has a great writing style! I started The Flip this afternoon and by six pm in between a few stops, I turned the last page. It was a great book, I even liked the ending, and I think men or women would enjoy it. Some of the books written by this author have won awards and I can see why he's a fabulous writer. I'm not going to tell the story the description is here on good reads as follows:
Julie and Brad Evans are house flippers. They buy low, clean out the old occupants junk, and try to make a profit. Enter Hemmings House on Bedlam Street in scenic Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. Too good a deal to pass up, but with an ominous secret. The old Victorian Mansion has dwellers that do not want to be dispossessed. As the house reveals it's past, will the couples marriage survive The Flip?

PS: Go pick up the book!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review by the author via Bostick Communications.

This author was new to me before I received this book. I will certainly not hesitate to read more of his work. He writes intelligently and sensitively. The characters are well written and believable and the plot moves along well.

This was a complete slant on the haunted house theme - there was no horror, shocks or gore. Instead there was suspense and intrigue and a developing story and back story of the house and all those involved. The flashback scenes were handled very well and fitted into the story seamlessly with no confusion. Everything slotted in at appropriate times and the whole book came together brilliantly.

A very very enjoyable paranormal tale.

I didn't consider myself a fan of paranormal books until I read The Flip by Michael Phillip Cash. First the title caught my interest as I often watch television shows regarding house flipping. One never knows what to expect once the work has begun and this house flip was no exception. A good page turner. I am definitely looking forward to reading Stillwell: A Haunting on Long Island, also written by Mr. Cash.

This book saved my sanity. Stuck inside a hospital waiting room for over an hour. This book made the time fly.

Once again the author delivers a quirky ghost story.

Loved it. I got to finish the book 10 minutes before I was called in.

Cash gives readers something else from the paranormal world in this highly entertaining novella. Brad and Julie Evans have an itch for flipping houses. While it has yet to flourish in to a profitable business, there is the potential, after a few ventures. After Julie insists they gamble on a Victorian home, Brad is leery because of all the work that it needs. He has become the contractor and handyman, keeping costs down, but even he feels that this might be more than he's able to handle. While working one day, he is spotted by a ghost, the alluring Tessa, who has decided that he is her latest infatuation. Choosing not only to focus her attention on him, Tessa is also prepared to push Julie to the brink and keep Brad all for herself. After an incident costs Brad and Julie their home, they move into this old home as they try to regroup. This forces Brad and Julie to realise that there might be something haunted about this place, thought they are not able to determine its origin. As Tessa seeks to test her wiles, another ghost lingers closely, Gerard. He has long been interested in Tessa, as far back as when they lived during the Civil War. With Julie sensing they are not alone, Brad is left to experience some paranormal activity of his own before he will accept that there is something more to this house than dust bunnies and drafts coming from the attic. Cash tells a great story, meshing history with current events, which allows the reader to fully appreciate this story.

Cash always brings a paranormal aspect to his stories. While some might shy away from them due to their genre, they are more than beings who walk through walls and the living who struggle with an added presence. Cash seeks to use both past and presents narratives to build a common theme and offer the reader a thought-provoking story that explores countless ideas, entertaining and educating simultaneously. The stories flow well and the characters have a realistic flavour to them. While nothing that requires too much mental acuity, Cash does provide the reader with something they can ponder as they weave through the chapters and reach the climax of the paranormal revelation. Surely the theme works for Cash and can lure a curious reader into a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Kudos, Mr. Cash for another great story that provides the reader with something that is neither corny nor overly chilling to the bone.

A Victorian mansion with a quiet sadness and a shadow of darkness looming in from all sides, beckoning new-comers to its unseen dark shade. If you are a Gothic reader, then you will love Gothic horror. Its uniquely written details will get under your skin and into your understanding, playing havoc with the imagination. I love the curiosity of the plot and the buildup of the characters. Flipping a haunted house is original. Could it be an unsettled spirit roamed its hallowed halls and is filled with a desire for something or someone, but yet not knowing when or how to leave the dwelling?
Brad and Julie found an old house that she thought might be a good fixer upper, and decided to flip it then put it on the market. All Brad saw was a money pit. After work began on the old place, he soon realized how dilapidated it really was, and wondered if the house would sink them deeper into a difficult situation.
Soon eerie things began to transpire. Julie became trapped in their other house by fire when the door slammed shut and she could not open it. With her hands severely burned, she finally made it outside. Moving into the old Victorian house was their only option at the moment. Brad did not like the circumstances at first, and became upset about it. Soon after moving in, things became more noticeable only to Julie at first, then Brad. It was enough to put her into a panic mode, so she lived in dread, and felt as though someone or something was watching her at all times. Julie loved the house and its many fixtures, but there was something dark and sinister that existed unnoticed or unsuspected just beyond her reach that she did not like. Could it be the free spirit did not want Julie there? Would it show itself to her? And if it did, would she be able to cope with it? Will the house and the occupants in it tear Julie and Brad apart?
Michael Phillip Cash drew me into the story with the first sentence. “The Flip” is a wonderful fast paced book! Great night time reading. Awesomely detailed. The cover artistry was truly remarkable; plus the title was made just for this book, and it says it all.

This is a book that once you pick it up you don't want to put it down. After reading The After House, I was really excited to read more by Micheal Cash, and this doesn't disappoint. It seems he has truly found his niche. Tying the past into the present, having two distinct story lines mesh beautifully, all masterfully done.

I enjoyed how Julie and Brad's personalities are altered when in the house. Seeing as they are being influenced by the resident ghosts. Of the characters Gerald is my favorite, he's one of the ghosts. He's the most level-headed and in my opinion has the best back story. Tessa, the female ghost, however I'm not a major fan of.

Personally I'm really curious about the Sentinels, the guardians of the lost souls. They've made an appearance in both of the books I've read so far and they seem to have abilities that have yet to be explained. I hope future books touch on them more.

I can't wait to read more by Micheal he clearly knows what he's doing.

I received this book courtesy of Micheal's publicist in exchange for my free and honest review.

When I agreed to read this for a blog tour book promotion, I didn't realise it had elements of paranormal in it. I must remember to do my research better.

However, I started to read this and it grabbed my attention.

Whatever was a house Flip? I can't say in the UK I've heard that term mentioned, or come across. Maybe it does exist but I didn't know about it. So, at 55yrs old I've learnt something new!

Flipping over a house, doing it up to later sale. That was the plan for this couple, but, other ideas came his wife's way that he didn't exactly agree with.

Then I learnt where the paranormal came into play, it was the voices of residents past.

For me it was an unusual story as I was out of my comfort zone in my reading material, but boy! am I glad I made a mistake, I actually enjoyed this book!
