5 Stars +. US Marshall Matt Bannister is stationed in Branson. A couple comes to him a begs him to check on their daughter, Abby, who moved to Sweethome after she married Brit Thacker. They haven't heard from here since. There is nothing Matt can do as there is no evidence of wrong doing. In Sweethome, Abby is being beaten and tormented daily. Never being allowed to leave the house, no one knows this. Brits father is Bob Thacker. Bob owns the town, including the sheriff and the judge. Brit and his brother, AJ, are able to wreck havoc with no fear of reprisal. Truet Davis is a carpenter and Jenny Mae, his wife, teaches school They are part of a strong Christian community there. When AJ starts making remarks about Jenny, he lets it go. He had promised Jenny, he would turn the other cheek. Just when Truet and Jenny were going to sell out an move the Branson, Jenny gets raped and murdered, but not before she can tell someone who did it. That gets AJ killed and Truet on the run. That certainly brings Bannister to Sweethome, where he meets the widow Felicia Conway and her son Dillon. Romance in the making, here. It becomes Matt's job to track Truet and bring him to trial, but can he get a fair trial in Sweethome?

Overall Very Uplifting

Despite what I’ve titled my comments, I must say that the first part of the book was often difficult to read. Unlike books that one can hardly put down, I found so many of the sordid details in the first half made it sometimes hard to pick up again. But I’m glad I did. I was a bit surprised that the hero of the book, Marshall Matt, didn’t really make an appearance until halfway through. But, that aside, reading something with such strong Christian values is really like a breath of fresh air. Kudos to the author, and to CKN. I will read more of Matt’s story.

I find Ken Pratt's books very well written. They have action but most of all the books are very inspirational. It is so refreshing to have an author that is not afraid to write about the Lord and share scriptures.

An emotional captivating story!

This is the second book I have read by author Ken Pratt. I will keep reading the series because I enjoy it so much. I must say I have been emotional in both books and cried a few tears. Normally I don’t like to read books that make me cry but I really do like his writing. The characters pull you in and you experience all kinds of feelings. Mr. Pratt takes you on a good ride but I love most when the mean and evil characters get their comeuppance! Right conquers wrong and law and justice is served. (I do think that the Thackers should have more prison time.)

Excellent Western Series

Author Ken Pratt is a new discovery. What a fabulous writer! There is plenty of action, character development as well as a tight plot. One aspect of the two westerns I have read are the multiple perspectives from which the story is told. Another is the deep Christian faith and world view of Matt Bannister, the lead character of the series. I highly recommend these westerns, they are a cut above.

Too much physical abuse.

Sweet home is a pretty good read. There is a lot of adventure, but for me, a bit too much abuse and not enough Matt Bannister. Nevertheless, I got through it and finished it in record time. I'm looking forward to Ken Pratt's newest book coming out this month.

Another excellent book!

This Marshal is like an avenging Angel. He knows the Bible and lives it. But if you break the law he will find you. The characters are strong and have incredible faith through some of the most trying times anyone can experience. It's a special treat to read a book with such strong Christian principles.

Wow strong silent God gearing Marshal

Matt Bannister has been through the wronged of a wicked world. Lost his connection to Jesus and his family. Earns a bad reputation for doing his job. Like the rest of us learns that GOD works all things for his good. Thank you Mr. Pratt best true western I have read in a while.

Violence

As a Christian woman I was offended by the violence in this book. I liked the story and am very interested in the love story's pending. I do not know if I can read them for the violence.

I enjoyed reading this book, it held my interest all the way through it.

This book is telling about lives that continually holds your interest to see what is going to happen next. It does not cut any of it short. I enjoyed reading it.

Justice

Matt Bannister comes to Sweethome at the request of his brother. He has to track down a suspected murderer. He ends up cleaning up a crooked town, freeing an abused wife and finding a special female friend. God works in mysterious ways.

God is good

I love the message that is delivered in this book. As hard as it was to read at times, no one wants to believe that there are such evil in this world, but there is so much truth in this book. It was refreshing to see God win in the end!

Great story

This story has everything you would want in a book except recipes. Murder, suspense, intrigue, romance, Justice, and everything in between. Looking forward to the next one.

Matt travels to Sweethome as United States Marshall based on stories he has heard about the villains who control every aspect of life in the small town. This story is a page turned with enough action to satisfy any reader of western genre. The characters are realistic with personal struggles that are over whelming. Matt is attracted to a widow and begins to court her and her young son. Matt successfully kills each of the family of villains and restores the town to a safe place to live. While Matt is a larger than life hero he is guided by his faith and trust in God.
Ken Pratt has written a story that is a page turner with many conflicts between good and evil. All of characters are described well..even the villains.

I would recommend this book to those looking for an exciting story and for the over arching sense of good vs evil.

A most excellent read

I just wish the vengeance had happen quicker within the story. I realize the author was trying to prove Gods timing is always on time...but it was hard reading all the things that kept happening and nothing was stopping it.

Most enjoyable book

This is the second Matt Bannister book I have had the joy of reading. There is just enough drama to keep your attention and the wonderful praise of the Lord to remind us that no matter how dark it may seem, God and his Son are there to help and guide us.

Another great read from Ken Pratt

I have never been one to read western fiction but the first in this series caught my eye. The second was even better. The charges are easy to get involved with. I love the way Ken mixes bible truths in his writing.

My New Favorite Character!

I LOVE MARSHALL MATT BANISTER! I love his funny family, especially his sister Annie! I would like to think that if I could go back in time, I would like to be like her.
Hopefully there will be a book on her and Truet’s story.
