A stalker threatens Ben, the lines between his hockey career and his love for Ethan blur, and abruptly their future seems like an impossible dream.
Senior year is here, and everything is on the line. Benoit’s time to shine in the crease is now, and he’s going to do everything he can to make sure those professional scouts take notice. He’s earned a great reputation for his skills in the net, and his laid-back demeanor is his key to maintaining his cool when things get heated in the goal crease.
As the Eagles roar into a new season, Ben’s laser-sharp focus is shattered by a stalker who threatens his life, and his attraction to Ethan Girard, the team’s new defensive consultant. Trying his best to ignore the budding friendship that’s taking a hard, fast turn into something far more passionate, Ben is determined to keep his mind on the sport he loves and not let his feelings for the handsome older man creep into his performance. But love, like hockey, is wildly unpredictable, and soon Ben finds that he’s unable to distance himself from Ethan who is slowly and surely working himself into his heart.
Famed Boston defenseman, Ethan Girard, isn’t stupid. Celebrating his thirty-second birthday in the emergency room after breaking his leg, and with a warning that healing will be a long process, he knows he has to think about his future. He was drafted at eighteen, and he’s never known anything but hockey, but with no contract in place yet for the new season he considers that maybe it’s time for him to hang up his skates for good.
Volunteering to help out with the Owatonna Eagles fills his time, but from the moment he lays eyes on goalie Ben, he knows his world will never be the same again. Falling in lust is as easy as stealing his first kiss, but Ben refuses to engage. Has Ethan finally met his match?

Holy hell did I love this one...full fangirl review to follow soonish!!!
There’s going to a bit of fangirling going on here... So, let’s go back to the beginning and by beginning I don’t mean Ryker…nope I’m talking about Harrisburg home of the Harrisburg Railers. I was intrigued when I saw that first book for the Railers and the blurb sounded good so I figured ‘ok, I’ll give it a go’ and so far there’s been no looking back in my mind. I have loved every word of the Harrisburg Railers that I could get my hands on and from there things just flowed over to ‘Owatonna U’ where we got to know more about Ryker as he met and fell in love with Jacob.
From there we discovered Ryker and Jacob’s teammate and a troubled young man named Scott who’s path leads him away from hockey and straight to Hayne, an artistically talented and gently soul who sees past Scott’s troubles and finds someone worth loving…seriously I loved…abso-freakin’-lutely loved!!! Both of these books but for me Scott and Hayne’s story was just that little bit more compelling and there was just no way things were going to get better…well, I was wrong because here we are at ‘Benoit’ the final book in this series and I can honestly say as much as I loved ‘Ryker’ and ‘Scott’…’Benoit’ surpasses them both.
First off, we have an MC who’s Canadian and if you know me than you know I am proudly Canadian, and I am also extremely pleased that Benoit is from Quebec. Admittedly, I’m from Ontario and while I do love it here Quebec has a beauty and history to it that is uniquely it’s own. So to have this absolutely wonderful character named Benoit come not only from Canada but from one of our most beautiful provinces for me is just really special…so thank you for this, Ms Locey and Ms Scott. I’m sure any other Canadians who read this book will agree with me when I say that we would proudly claim Benoit as one of our own. Now aside from the fact that I like where Benoit was born, I simply loved this character. He’s focused, determined, talented and so committed to his family. This is not a young man who’s gone off to college to party and have a good time…this is a young man who loves his family and his goal is to get drafted to the NHL so he can earn the big bucks…so that he can lead the good life…right? Nope, not Benoit…because once again for Benoit, his motivation for this comes back to family. I’d say he’s a good kid but that’s not accurate at all…he’s a young man and he’s a young man with a strong sense of responsibility to his family and in general he’s just a really good person and he’s also hot…totally sexy and hot…no really he is just ask Ethan…
Ethan Girard is the other half of this story…he’s 32 years old his contract with my beloved Bruins is up, I know, I know I’m Canadian what the H-E-double hockey sticks am I doing cheering for the Bruins…well, sorry but that’s another story for another day, and after breaking his leg he’s coming to realize that it’s time for him to consider the direction his life’s going in. But once again we’re not faced with someone who’s life is in some way a mess. There’re no drugs, alcohol, gambling or any of the things that are warning signs of a person spiralling out of control…nope, but at 32 years of age Ethan recognizes that he’s had a good run with the Bruins and maybe after 14 years it’s time to hang up the skates and see what else life has to offer him, but for now what better way to fill his days until he finds that direction than to help out a friend and do some coaching with his hometown team the Owatonna U Eagles.
Benoit and Ethan are drawn to each other from the first time they see each other…no it’s not love at first sight. It’s more a case of lust at first sight, but it’s also a lust that neither man wants to give in to. Benoit feels that he’s got more important things to focus on and Ethan tries to tell himself that he’s too old for the sexy, young goalie who’s sparked his interest…yeah, you just keep telling yourself that Ethan.
While Benoit is just starting his career, Ethan is considering bringing his to an end with retirement and I have to admit the juxtaposition of where each man is at in his life had me a little nervous because of the power dynamic that it had the potential to create, but thankfully controlling is not Ethan’s nature so they were able to find a balance that worked. Also the communication between these two men is pretty awesome…not to say that there’s never any misunderstanding, just that they get worked out…no drama llama’s required.
I realize this may all sound a little boring but trust me when I say that Benoit and Ethan are not living in a bubble and as is often the case life is what happens when we’re busy making other plans and sometimes it’s what happens when we’re not looking that derails the best laid plans. But it’s how we deal with life’s surprises that helps to form the basis of who we are and the relationships that we have; such is the case for Benoit and Ethan.
As Benoit and Ethan work together to make things work between them, it’s when they get help from a few of their friends that things start to fall into place. So here’s where I get to fangirl a bit more because as much as I loved this story the icing on my cake, the cherry on my sundae was the fact that we got to spend time with some very familiar characters…such as a certain captain of the Bruins and more than a couple of Railers along with Ryker, a bit of Jacob and Benoit’s other roommates, Scott and Haney…really? How could this one possibly go wrong…it can’t, no really there’s just too much awesome for this story to be anything but ‘awesome’!
And now at the end of it all…with Ten and Mads’ wedding fast approaching, the men of Owatonna U going out into the world to find their way; one might wonder what comes next…well, I’ve heard a rumor that Arizona’s an interesting place to be come September so I think I’ll make like a snowbird and head down there to see what’s happening because if it’s more of what we’ve been getting…sexy hockey men with interesting stories…sign me up because I’m all in for more.

An ARC of ‘Benoit’ was graciously provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 - 4 stars Ethan’s career as thirty-two years old hockey player is over after breaking his leg. He settled himself in the town Owatonna and volunteer as coach at the hockey club. When he meets the beautiful dedicated Benoit, he is head over heels. Only, Benoit constantly avoids him. Until he can’t anymore. And yeah Benoit is distracted but oh so content. He doesn’t want to acknowledge the threatening that approaches him.
A nicely written captivating story. We meet family, friends, enemies, discrimination, homophobia and a lot of dedication. The instant love between Benoit and Ethan was sweet. Even instant love isn't my favorite they were so sweet together. The sport side in this story was captivating and made it an enjoyable read.
This is really insta-love with a side of crazed stalker, but Benoit and Ethan felt right together and their story was pretty entertaining. I'm definitely looking forward to the novellas for this series to see them again.
What annoyed me though was the authors forgetting basic facts about other characters again 😩😂
If the person with dyscalculia notices your numbers don't add up, the math is wrong! Ethan, 32, is supposedly Brady Rowe's BFF but thinks Brady is 28. Are we supposed to pretend Ten and Jared's book was never written? So far Jared's entire history has been rewritten and now the Rowe brothers are being changed.
This book is Benoit and Ryker's graduation from college, so in the US I'm assuming they're 22. Ten and Jared got together when Ryker was 17 and Ten was 22, Jared in his thirties, and the big issue with Brady was that Jared was his best friend and his age, if not close, putting Brady at 30ish being generous.
So this book is five years later, Ryker now 22, Ten is 26 (stated in the wedding novella and in this book Ten is married). How can Brady only be 28 when he's the eldest? That would put Brady at 23/24 when Ten and Jared got together, so why the issue with Jared, his 'best friend', who never played for Boston - I fail to see how they became best friends if this books revisionist timeline is true, because they wouldn't have been in juniors at the same time as Jared is now definitely late thirties, possibly 40! I mean sure, Mrs Rowe could have had back to back to back pregnancies but this just doesn't fit the timeline of the rest of the books, Brady should be more likely to be retiring in this book along with Ethan!
I just kind of feel like I should take each book with a bucket of salt because if the authors aren't bothered their earlier books may as well not exist, why should I be 😂 Honestly it just bugs me, especially when reading a series all the way through, because yes the author takes a lot of time and effort to make their books, but the reader is also choosing to give their time to reading the book.
This series has more inconsistencies than anything else I've ever read, yes the stories are entertaining, but now I don't really trust anything I'm being told and I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to get to the last book and it's all been some kind of daydream in the shower for some hockey dude 😒
2.5 Stars. This book didn't really bring it home for me at all. Nonsensical stalker stuff turns me off. I think this is a lazy plot device used when imagination fails and there isn't a real story to tell or the better story can't be written fast enough to keep up with publishing deadlines. It's added to create drama in an otherwise boring book which is pretty much what happens here. Had the blurb mention or hinted anything about stalking at all, I probably would not have purchased this book.
RJS is known for instalove but even for her, this one was ridiculous; a mere two weeks into dating when the L word is dropped. Maybe if I had felt any real romance or heat between them, I would have overlooked these things but in this case it wasn't easy. Then add in the very unromantic graduation event* and this just seemed to unravel at the end.
This series is a joy to read. Following a team of college hockey players, there a big emphasize of friendship and family and I'm glad to see Benoit living together with Ryker, Scott and Haynes.
Benoit is goalie and as usual goalies are weird and the author manage to give him a different kind of weirdness compare to our legendary Stan. Ben is super dedicated on his studies and hockey for his final year in Owatonna. His family depend on him to be pick up by a professional team. There is so much pressure that he put on himself and he had no time for love.
The appearance of Ethan Girard, a retired player recuperating from a broken leg prove to be too much a temptation for Ben. Can I just say that I'm jealous of Ethan's new life? He's retired at 32 with so much money and not sure what should he do next. I'm green with envy. I find his interest in Ben super adorable. He played it cool and yet Ben was hooked, line and sinker. Ethan is just so laidback and he adores Ben.
There was an ongoing joke about their 10 years age gap, which I find it absolutely endearing. The addition of Ryker, the housemates, a potential stalker and their team fighting for the championship keep the plot moving at a quick pace. This is the end of Owatonna U series, but with the teaser we got for the next spin off series, I will be anxiously awaiting the next release.
Definitely more hockey in this book but coming right off of Scott, this one dimmed a little. They should have gone Ryker, Benoit then Scott. Then it would be finishing on a high. I honestly don’t think anything could have topped Scott for this series.
I mean, Benoit and Ethan’s story was sweet but I guess Hayne was just an especially adorable character. Ethan was matured and stable and I liked that he could be sensible and do the adulting thing while also having the patience and the wisdom to take a step back and let Benoit handle his stuff.
It would have been 5 stars if they played the stalker thing well. It just didn’t seem to mesh as well with the story as I hoped. There didn’t really seem to be any proper explanation for it. Just, quickly swept under the rug and tied neatly with a bow.
I like this series though. I wish there was more but I am looking forward to the last of the Railers’ story and then the new Raptors series out later this year. I’m hoping we see more of Ryker and Jacob’s story!
Another gorgeous romance in this college ice hockey series from RJ and Vicki.
I loved the relationship between Benoit and Ethan, the ten year gap was perfect, a study in contrasts between a player at the start of his career and one whose journey had ended.
It might have been a bit insta lovey, but I didn't care as I was utterly committed to them as a pair! Sexy, funny, good supporting cast and a glimpse into the happy ever after future for them just worked.
#ARC kindly received from the authors in return for an honest and unbiased review.
Benoit is the third in the Owatonna U series, following Ryker and Scott. You don’t have to read the series in order, but doing so will provide some context for this book and give you a better backstory. So I think it’s probably worth it to start at the beginning of the series.
One of the things I really liked about Benoit is we get a look at racism in hockey. It’s a predominately white sport and while racism isn’t the center of the book, the authors do acknowledge it and the affect it has on players and fans. This added an aspect of realism to the story and one that I think added to the context, especially since it’s an issue that often gets ignored.
In this installment, we have two guys at different stages in their hockey careers. Benoit is an up and coming college goalie with a promising career ahead of him. He has one goal – make it to the NHL to secure his future and financial security to be able to help his family, including his ailing father. Ethan is taking a break from his NHL career to recuperate from an injury and is contemplating his retirement. While home in Owatonna, he takes on a volunteer job coaching/mentoring Benoit’s team.
I love how the guys are all connected in this series. Benoit is a roommate of Scott and Ryker (the previous two books); and Ethan was a teammate of Tennant’s older brother (Tennant and Jared Madsen are from the Harrisburg Railers and are Ryker’s dads). The connections all feel plausible and natural, as opposed to made up to fit the story.
Benoit and Ethan are instantly attracted to one another, but there are a few hurdles for them to face before they are both on the same page, mostly from Benoit’s side. He is already dealing with the stress of school and staying focused on his game and doesn’t want to add to the list of things already lined up against him – he is a black gay/bisexual Canadian in a predominantly white/straight sport. There is also the age gap and the fact that Ethan is coaching his team, although he is only a volunteer. But, thankfully, most of these things don’t stand in the way for too long, and Ethan ends up adding the extra support Benoit didn’t’ know he needed. One thing I loved was seeing Ethan find happiness at the next stage in his life. He was truly happy watching Benoit succeed, and given his own experience, his understanding in what it takes for that to happen.
There is the added stress of someone stalking Benoit, which I felt the story could have actually done without or that it could have been a bit more believable. Nonetheless, it brought the guys even closer and helped solidify their relationship. I wasn’t wowed by this pairing for some reason, but there was enough interaction with the other guys to make it an enjoyable read overall. It showed the others and how they are dealing with their various issues, such as Scott and how he is making out since he took charge of his own life outside of hockey. It also nicely sets up the spinoff series, which I am really excited about. Ryker is about to head to the Raptors, the team that picked him up in the draft and the one with the worst reputation in the league. It also happens to have the guy who almost ended Tennant’s career, and Ryker is having some major anxiety about fitting in and dealing with all of that. I have been hooked on the original series from book one, totally enjoyed this one as well, and can’t wait to see how it all plays out in the upcoming Raptors series!
I enjoy the way these two authors write hockey players and romance. Here we get a look at our serious goalie, Ben, dealing with distractions in the form of an unexpected attraction to an older man, a racist incident, an odd note, and the demands of both senior year in college and his final college season. He has a lot on his plate, and doesn't always pick the smart way to handle things, but he's a very sympathetic character. I liked that the racism in hockey was neither underplayed, not heavily dominant.
There's one plot thread used to create tension that's a trope I'm not fond of, but fortunately it wasn't dominant either. This felt like a plausible account of a young man's coming of age year, and an older man's dealing with the realities of how short a sports career can be. The fact that there are out gay men in hockey at this point in the series lets the stakes of Ben coming out be less, giving the story some balance. I enjoyed both characters and was cheering their happy ending.
I like the hockey series these two writers cook up (I mean you gotta love Stan!) , but this one couldn’t captivate me at all. The two MC’s were bland, their romance was boring and the ‘I love you’s’ came way too fast. The whole stalker plot was lazy, uninspired and lacked suspense. Saw it coming for miles, although the character was written into the story way too late....
This author duet has created a hockey/romance m/m world at the top of my favourites list! This spin-off series has been a treasure-trove of great characters and smexy situations and Ben and Ethan fit right in with their right love/wrong time circumstances…
Ben was just starting on his NHL career while Ethan was contemplating the end of his. Ben’s focus was on his last year of school, his last year before (hopefully) landing a spot on the NHL team back home. Ethan was an unexpected, and unwelcome, distraction. Ethan knew his role as volunteer coach on Ben’s hockey team made any relationship between them iffy at best. Right now his whole life was uncertain. That didn’t do anything to temper his desire or attraction to the sexy hockey player…
Whew! Hot enough to melt the hockey ice, Ben and Ethan battled and loved their way through all the obstacles. From quirky hockey habits to more serious concerns around being gay in a professional locker room, their conversations were light-hearted as well as serious, always ready to be heated and loving at the drop of a hat (or hockey stick!).
Mix in familiar characters, and the camaraderie and laughter they brought with them, meant this was another great visit to Owatonnu U!
I enjoyed this book. Ben and Ethan are great together, and the chemistry between them is instantaneous. It did feel a little like insta-love, which I normally don’t like in a story, but the authors really make it work here so I didn’t mind it.
It was great to catch up with the other guys on the team, and to see Scott doing so well. It was nice to see how easily they welcome Ethan into their fold, despite the age difference.
My only issue was the stalker situation felt a bit disjointed. It was brought up, then it seemed like it was put to the side and forgotten about, then it reappears out of the blue. I also thought it was resolved too quickly with little explanation as to why the person was acting the way they did.
This is the third book in the series, and while it can be read as a standalone, I think it helps to have read the other books in the series first, to understand the backstories that are referenced to some of the secondary characters in this book.
I thought Ryker and Scott were so amazing that they couldn’t be topped. I was wrong. Never under-estimate this author team! Benoit has all the feels — this new adult novel gives you age-gap romance, hockey, friendship, and oodles of appearances by favorite characters from both the Owatonna U series and the Harrisburg Railers books. The thing I loved and that flowed so seamlessly was that the characters didn’t just make non-essential cameos and disappear; they were in the novel to further plot points and, better still, the characters evolved. This was particularly evident with Brady — he is not the same Brady from Changing Lines (Railers#1), nor should he be, but his development added to the richness of the interwoven stories in these two series.
Ethan and Benoit’s story is at times sweet, others suspenseful but is always entertaining. The book doesn’t shy away from social issues (not that any book by these authors does) but addresses head-on racism and homophobia in sports, as well as the peril of being in the public spotlight.
Words cannot say how much I adore this couple and their story. And, while Benoit could, theoretically, be enjoyed as a stand-alone, why would you? Pick up the Railers series and then the Owatonna books and devour them all. You won’t be disappointed!
I love this series. The characters are intriguing and loveable. I love that they all come back to the other books -- and the characters from the Harrisburg Railers make appearances as well.
Benoit and Ethan should not work. They are 10 years apart in age. Ethan is finished with his hockey career and all Benoit wants it to make it to the NHL. Ethan went straight to playing hockey and skipped college, but Benoit takes his degree very seriously. HOWEVER, they do work and they work fabulously!!!
I enjoyed the pacing of this book and the dual POV. I enjoyed the camaraderie of the characters and the help they give each other.
Each book in the series just seems to get better and better! I can’t wait to see what these authors give us next!
*** I voluntarily read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
RJ & Vicki have done it again, Ben and Ethan were perfect together <3 I love the hockey family they have built with their Harrisburg Railers and Owatonna U Series and am looking forward to seeing where they take everyone next...
And here I thought that this series cannot get more cliche. Insta-love, shallow unfounded relationship, no personal growth or character development whatsoever. I really hope V.L. Locey is responsible only for hockey portion of these books. Her own series “Point Shot” had way more depth and none of this cookie-cutter, teeth-rotting empty fluff. Ugh. I am done.
We’re back at Owatonna U, and from the start we’re immersed into the action. Benoit’s focused; he’s a talented goalie right at the beginning of his career, he needs to stay on track, work like a machine and keep his mind on the game. What he doesn’t bank on though is bumping into Ethan Girard. He doesn’t recognise the famous Boston defenseman at first, what with the shaggy hair and beard and the crutches, but sparks fly for them both at that first meet and then we find out that Ethan’s here to volunteer with the team while he recovers from an injury. As we’ve gotten used to when these authors get together, there’s a ton of stuff happening: the breakneck speed of the hockey action, which is told in a detailed and informative way—even for those not familiar with the game—the rivalries and the friendships and the dilemma’s that these guys face every day. The authors blend it so well that all this is complementary to the romance, it never overshadows it. We know it’s not going to be an easy union between these two men; there’s a ten year age difference, Ben’s at the start of his career and Ethan has entered the twilight of his at 32, so they’re both at a point in their lives where decisions have to be made which could result in them living hundreds of miles apart, and what will their family and friends think of them getting together? To top this off, there’s danger and a threat coming from an unknown source that the guys have to deal with. As if they haven’t got enough on their plate! I really enjoyed their journey, it wasn’t easy and it was certainly very emotional, and it was such a joy to be back with some of my favourite guys like Ryker and Stan! A fantastic addition to the series.
Review Copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMG Reads.
I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Benoit’s book brings the series back to hockey. Benoit is talented, driven and just a little bit mad. Like all the best goalies. And while Benoit is on the cusp of a brilliant career, Ethan is coming to terms with the end of his.
I really love the connection between Benoit and Ethan. Benoit is all stress and tension at the start of this story. Family responsibilities weigh heavily and he doesn’t allow himself a life beyond hockey. At 32, Ethan hasn’t ever allowed himself a life beyond hockey so despite the age difference, the connection between them terrifies both men equally.
Benoit’s shared house pulls characters from previous books into the story and Ethan’s connection to characters in the Railers books pulls in even more characters. The result is a book that feels comfortable and familiar. There’s a little bit of dramatic suspense in this story which is new to both series - and I think it works really well.
Benoit’s experiences as a black athlete are pretty grim but news headlines continue to highlight the racism experienced by too many athletes. I really like the way the author’s introduce this theme and I love the strength we see in Benoit’s character.
Between the suspense and Benoit’s high stress, high pressure personality, this book isn’t quite as funny or as light as some of the previous books. Ethan is a more easy going character but he’s working through some pretty big issues of his own. But Ethan and Benoit are both pretty wonderful and I really enjoyed this story.
RJ Scott and VL Locey's Benoit, the third book in the Owatonna U Hockey series, is outstanding. An avid fan of this series, I can't imagine ever being disappointed by one of these books. I love the tone, and just find myself settling in for a comfy read every time.
Riveting from the start, as Benoit's moving in with Ryker, Scott, and Haynes. It's his senior year, the pressure to succeed is high, and he's never been interested in love before. Until Ethan.
With an injury, Ethan's suddenly contemplating retiring. Upon volunteering to coach Benoit's team, he finds himself instantly attracted to the younger man. These are two men who are at different ends of their career, who have to deal with being closeted and coming out while an athlete. If that wasn't hard enough, Benoit also has to deal with racism and more.
I love Ethan immediately! Ethan's snark and sass with his brother is amazing, as is his whole family. I just adore their dynamics. Omg, the antics with Robbie are hysterical. And his mom had me in stitches.
And with all the charm of the previous books, we are treated to a lot of fun past characters and some new delightful supporting characters. And, of course, we get some Ten, who I absolutely love and adore!
I just love everything about Benoit and Ethan. They're a great couple, with great chemistry, and a deep love for one another. I adore their quirky personalities and the humor about their age gap.
Benoit's a beautiful story of following one's heart. It's a passionate tale of finding something important in your life.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Benoit is the final book in the Owatonna U Hockey series and it is my favourite of the three books. The last few weeks I’ve been struggling with reading more than half an hour at a time but when I picked up Benoit and started reading, I read for several hours straight and got half way through the book before I even realised it.
Benoit and Ethan are a wonderful couple. I’m not always a fan of big age gaps in my romance novels but the 10 years between Ethan and Benoit didn’t seem to matter. Actually, having Ethan at the end of his hockey career and Benoit looking to start I actually think helped their relationship because they were really in sync. I loved the way Ethan supported Benoit as he struggled with managing his busy final year at college, hockey, friends, family and romance and the appearance of a stalker.
I loved that this story includes characters from the previous books as well as the Railers hockey team. I was thrilled to get to see more of the men of previous book I’ve already fallen in love with. Other things I loved about this story include Benoit’s routine with the ice which was so cute and the way the authors describe the hockey games which was really exciting.
I didn’t want to book to finish because I just wanted to stay with the characters from this series. I was over the moon to see that there will be a spin off series – Raptors - which has the first book due out in September. I can’t wait.
What is not to love about this series? I admit, at first I was a little concerned about the college-aged romance, and that is mainly because I prefer mature romances. However, these are not little boys, they are all men and I never once felt squeaked out while reading. In this scenario, Benoit is a senior and 22 years old. Ethan is an injured, and retiring, NHL player who is 32 years old. Not too much of an age difference for me, but enough to keep it lively and to keep Ethan on his toes, even with a broken leg.
In this installment, Benoit has the weight of the world riding on his shoulders and on the ice. His father is ill, and he needs to win the NCAA championship and make a huge impression on the NHL so he can take care of his family. He has no time for anything but studying and playing his best hockey. And then in walks (or limps) a wet dream and all his plans start to crumble. But, that is not all, as if that wasn’t enough, he also has a stalker. How much is one black goalie in a white man’s sport supposed to shoulder? Read it and find out for yourself, it was painful at times, but worth it and it ends really well.
Loved the relationship between these two guys. It was so obviously meant to be. Heart warming, passionate and fun. I adored both Benoit and Ethan, their personalities are so quirky, especially Benoit, it made for a fairly light hearted read, especially when they were together. The story certainly made me smile. Benoit is really one of a kind and I loved how laid back Ethan was. Definitely my kinda guy.
I completely fell for them both. I felt drawn to the characters and really felt the depth of the attraction and chemistry between them. There is some action and drama going on in this book, but overall, it's interwoven with a sweet and beautiful romance.
Also, a massive plus was that characters from previous books were present throughout. Ryker, Jacob (my poor babies 😣), Scott and Hayne, were all there, as were Ten and Mads, and even Stan! Be still my beating heart 😍
A massive plus, as far as this fangirl is concerned, is that the series doesn't end here. There's definitely more to come. Cannot wait.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the third in the series, and I would recommend that you read them in order - really just because they are so good, why would you not? Fans will enjoy meeting Harrisburg Railer players too!
Benoit needs to succeed in school and be picked up in Hockey, so he works extra hard and concentrates on his future. Now in his last year, he absolutely has to perform at his best, which means no distractions. Of course, one appears and Ben is really not prepared to miss out on at least a friendship with Ethan. This cautious, measured view is deeply at odds with the chemistry they feel, but both men are very aware of who they are, where they are, and what their priorities must be.
As the story unfolds, we get plenty of exciting hockey, plenty of team dynamics and the start of something big - perfect escapism at its best.
Benoit and Ethans first meeting was , for me, off the charts hot. Their attraction instantaneous and it had me wanting them to hurry up and get together already. But, as usual the authors know best and made me wait. The wait was well worth it. Not only for the wonderfully hot love scenes ( whew!) But also the connection that forms quickly and is extremely strong and evident to anyone who sees them together. There are some things\ people of course that cause some angst and heartbreaking moments in this book. Things that make me go all "Mother Bear "and want to grab Ethan and Benoit and just hug and protect them, kick ass and take names. Then there are such amazingly wonderful things that happen too. You'll have to take my word and buy this book. Benoit and Tyler's interactions as housemates and best buds was a hoot to see as well . The fact that they were there for each other both through emotionally tough times and to talk smack to each other was...endearing and funny as heck! Loved seeing Hayne and Scott, Jacob , Ten and Mads and Stan intermittently through the book. They gave it the usual specialness all the books in this series have. I could say many things about this book, all positive, but then what would be the point of anyone buying this ? You should definitely buy and enjoy this story, as I am positive you will. I was given an ARC for my honest review.
Two strong personalities clash and also intertwine in this book, two men at opposite points in their lives: one is rookie hockey player, bright eyed and hopeful and the other is a veteran player, jaded and tired. Benoit is just starting, dreaming of a big team but Ethan is at the end of his career, without a direction for the future. Before the met, both were lonely but neither of them actually ready for falling in love. Benoit and Ethan are amazing. I loved them when they fought their connection and I loved them more when they stopped resisting the pull towards each other. It was great, too,to see the full cast of awesome characters :crazy, meddling family ,friends, team members...all adorable and charming. Benoit by RJ Scott and V.L. Locey kept me entertained with funny moments and humor, and pulled me in with the right amount of drama and beautiful characters. The story is perfectly executed and I can't recommend it enough.

I loved Ben in the previous books and in this one we get to see him up close and personal. I loved his total dedication and the reasons behind it. He didn't want fame and fortune for himself but to help his family. I really enjoy the little superstitions he has and the need for Canadian water.
Ethan was also a good character, I liked that he understood and accepted that he was retiring and then looked for things to do, he was happy to move his life around Benoit and wherever he got placed. He gave Ben time and didn't push him. I really enjoyed the way they joked around with each other.
It was lovely seeing the other previous characters who were already in the NHL give the guys some much needed advice, at times they didn't quite understand what they were getting to, but once they understood it was good advice.
