In the final continuation of this complex love story, Leiland and Billie are back, and their differences have placed them at a standstill.
Emerging from past hardships and relinquishing emotional sabotage, flower child Billie Brice thought she'd beat the odds when allowing her heart to bloom for Leiland Greyson. Finding and embracing love in an unlikely vessel, Billie used her heart and not her vagina to absorb the essence of intimacy. But as life would have it, Billie's eagerness to shoot before being shot causes a rift so deep, the man she looked to for guidance leaves her without direction. Deciding to pave her own path, Billie is relentlessly in mending broken bonds and making her cereal bar, Crunch, a household name. And with the warmth of an old friend, will Billie be able to continue to love Leiland from a distance?
Always prided on his ability to see things through, Leiland Greyson put his patience and logic to the side for the chance to love the chocolate firecracker on his route.
Nevertheless, with Leiland’s family pressuring him to stay away from Billie, he finds himself in a whirlwind of emotions and in a moment of vulnerability, Leiland ends up back with the woman who broke him years before. But when true intentions manifest and the dust settles, will he be able to distinguish the true meaning of second chance love?
They say love is an embodiment that can't be escaped once you’ve breathed it in, but with distance and new avenues, will the shepherd and the flower child find the tolerance to make it back to one another and once again love through their differences?
The level of racism in this book is staggering. Had it been a white person saying I love you despite your black skin we would have been up en arms but in this case we are passively ok with it. Basically to accept him Billie more or less convinced herself that he was really a black man in white skin. Another example of racism is her saying i dont trust any white man, then it begs the question as how she can say that Tony is like her brother? Aren't these sweeping statements about a whole race what bothers us when people talk about black people? It seemed to me that Leiland loved her completely while she was just experimenting. Case in point even if they didn't keep in touch whilst she was in Paris (dumb idea) she could have contacted him when she came back. Also she semmed to have dated in the 7 years while he didn't really. Lastly this whole thing about him facilating black owned business semmed to me a way of making acceptable as a pseudo black man. Sad to still think and behave like that in 2018
It took tragic events for Billie Grace to mature and grow up. Leiland finally came to understand that he let his pride push Billie away after his seizure and hospital stay. Even though their road to loving each other took a detour, they still loved each other. Lucy and Braulio were just placeholders until that fork in the road brought them back together. Leiland and Grace loved each other enough to overlook the other people and the repercussions they caused in each other's life. What a serious thought provoking ending.
Loving each other through their differences was an emotional roller coaster ride for them both. Tucora wrote a heart wrenching story of a couple working their way back to each with a hell of a lot of road blocks along the way. With that said, the story needs a serious re-edit. There were just too many grammatical mistakes that made for a less than a smooth read. I can overlook a few mistakes but more than a few was aggravating.
This second part had me upset, laughing and then content throughout the book. Two very lovingly differently damaged people are brought together through friends again but like fate would have it they ruin each other. Billie has learned a lot from mistakes but it doesn't excuse the fact she is still a live wire. Lucy!! The devil in a dress is back and boy does she leave a tornado in her path. Brauilo is the peace before the storm but when her storm is over Leiland appears still I love though very different. A little blessing comes from an unfortunate situation and there love is tested once again. A very good read that takes a few but punching loses.
This is my 2nd experience with this writer's work. I took a chance on her after scrolling through Kindle Unlimited. I must say I'm glad I gave her a try. The heroine was a very frustrating character to me but I can see how her trauma informed her behavior. Leiland DEFINITELY loved her through her differences. She learned to love him through his. I'm really glad both books were out by the time I became familiar with them. After that cliffhanger I would have been inconsolable if I couldn't begin this 2nd book immediately! 🤣🤣 If this author is new to you her work is worth your time. Go on...give her a shot!
Loved that Billie and Leland had their HEA but, sorry it wasn't that doggone Lucy that died! I was fearful on Howe of ever they would ever get back together. Totally enjoyed both books.
