Becoming Michelle Obama: 12 Things You'll Learn

An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

I would have given this a 3.5 stars.
This is a powerful story with many hidden gems of wisdom.
It is a story of a woman, I am proud to say is a role model for my own daughters. A woman who knows what hard work is, the importance of family, and knowing what ideals to cling to when you are blessed with power and influence.

There is a lot of unnecessary detail that doesn't add to the story. The story is a chronology of her life from childhood to leaving the White House. It was interesting to learn how her children adapted to security while attending school and after school activities with friends.
