From the New York Times bestselling author of Castaway Cottage comes a novel as captivating as the moonlit sea.

Everything was in place for the perfect beachside gathering. Lace-wrapped jars hung from white chairs on the sand. Paper lanterns and tiki torches glimmered in the twilight evening. A rowboat draped with roses and vines waited in the wings. Love floated on the salt air.

Until the arrival of a mysterious guest named Shane Bradford, a lobsterman with a tangled past in this little New England beach town.

Like a sudden sea breeze, the special evening quickly turns. And the residents of Stony Point must tread the darker water Shane brings to their Night Beach.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

This story picks up immediately after the last story, Castaway Cottage ends when an unexpected guest arrives for Kyle and Lauren Bradford vow renewal and stops the event dead in its tracks. Kyle’s brother Shane has not been to Stony Point in years. He and Kyle had a huge fight and Shane left and the rest of the group vowed to have nothing to do with Shane ever again. And they didn’t until Lauren reached out to her brother-in-law and invited him to the upcoming ceremony. His arrival sent the entire group into a tizzy.

The author uses flashback moments to give us some history of these beloved characters and introduces us to Shane and his story. The story also shows the current times as Kyle and Lauren try to move forward after the turmoil left after their vow renewal falls apart. Their friends, especially Jason, do everything they can to get the couple back on track.

I have enjoyed every book by this author. These characters are like old friends and I am invested in seeing their journeys.

Ms. Demaio paints wonderful pictures with her words and they draw her readers in. I always feel like I am right there in Stony Point, on the beach getting a bird’s eye view of all the happenings. This time I could really feel Kyle’s pain but I see Shane’s side as well, I hope we get to know him better. It was heartwarming to see the lengths that Jason went to in trying to get Lauren and Kyle together. He exhaustion resonated with me at the end.

Readers again are left with a cliffhanger, so I am assuming The Little Beach Bungalow, out May 14 will start right where this one leaves off. I can’t wait for my next trip to the beach!

These books should be read in order for maximum enjoyment.

Night Beach is a visit with old friends, sitting on the beach reminiscing, cherishing time with loved ones. Each visit back to Stony Point fills me with affection for the characters. This book picks up with the detritus of a canceled vow renewal, brought on by an unexpected and welcome visitor. As the characters deal with what has transpired, we are given a window into their pasts, with a hope for their future that includes living without regrets and a second chance to restore friendships and relationships.

This is the eight book of the Seaside Saga series but not the last, By now, I feel that these friends are my old friends! This book picks up where Castaway Cottage ended. The failed vow renewal of Kyle and Lauren Bradford sends both of them into anger and grief over their marriage yet they both still love each other deeply. Lauren had sent an invitation to Shane Bradford, Kyle's long lost brother. But she was not aware of the deep rift between them.

We get backstory of the group of friends and some but not all the story of why the brothers broke apart. Cliff Raines provides comic relief with aim to please and impulsiveness while Elsa calms him down and acts as a peacemaker and wisdom giver to the group. I like that she acknowledges that she can read people and that makes identify with her.

Lastly, we are introduced to Shane Bradford, lobsterman who loves the sea and changed man from when the group used to know.

I enjoyed this addition to the saga and think you will too.

I received an Advance Copy of this book from the author and my thoughts and feelings in this review are my own.

Have you ever read a series of books and when the next one comes out, it feels so much like you've come home? That is the way I feel about the Beach Friends series from Joanne Demaio. The "Night Beach" focuses on the relationships between Kyle, Lauren, and Shane, and how the beach friends all deal the the failed vow renewal ceremony. It was impossible to put this book down. Joanne's writing is so real. It covers every emotion and nuance of the characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Night Beach made me feel like I was part of the residences of Stony Point, CT, made me want to think back and share past events and memories with the close knit beach friends, and believe second chances are possible. Kudos to Joanne DeMaio for another fantastic beach read. Keep them coming.

I’ve read a few books written by Joanne DeMario, and loved them. However, this book was terrible and hard to get through. The characters acted like immature teenagers and the book ended without any answers. Very disappointed.

I initially enjoyed this book but when it became clear that there wouldn’t be any answers about what separated the friends and caused the rift between brothers I lost interest. I am tired of everything being a series. I finished night beach but I am not going to continue reading this series.

In Night Beach, author Joanne DeMaio transports the reader back to the tranquil seashore town of Stony Point, Connecticut, where the summer season is coming to a close. The reader will catch up with the lives of friends: Maris, Jason, Eva, Matt, Kyle, Lauren, Elsa, Cliff, Nick, Paige, Vinny, and Celia. In this installment of the popular Seaside Saga Series, the focus is on Kyle and Lauren, and the unexpected appearance of Kyle's estranged brother Shane.

Just like the ebb and flow of the tide, life brings issues and changes to one's life, but the bonds of friendship, sea air, and salt water are cleansing, they cure what ails you. For this group of old friends, the close of the summer season brings some bittersweet painful memories instead of a happy gathering, and a touch of deeply held familial secrets. As time heals all wounds, so does the sea air, and this group of friends lives by the credo: "salt air, not a care" and "cast away your troubles straight into the sea." The shimmering denim blue sea with its calming effect will offer them another summer season of hope, love, family, friendship, heartache, mistakes, forgiveness, redemption, and blissful new beginnings.

The reader will catch up with the friends as many changes have been occurring since their last visit: Elsa's newly renovated beach inn, Ocean Star Inn, is getting ready for the grand opening in September with Celia's help. Meanwhile, Maris continues to complete her late brother-in-law Neil's manuscript, while husband Jason is busy preparing for his new cottage renovation program on the local public television station, and has the approval from Mitch and Carol Fenwick to renovate their beach cottage, and feature it on his cottage renovation program. Finally, there is Kyle and Lauren, who planned a tenth anniversary vow renewal ceremony on the beach at the Ocean Starr Inn. However, their ceremony is abruptly called off that morning with the unexpected appearance of Kyle's estranged brother Shane. Alas ... mistakes, secrets, past painful issues, and a surprising cliffhanger will leave the reader impatiently waiting to read more about Shane in Little Beach Bungalow, the next installment in The Seaside Saga Series. So now that I have whet your interest in the beach friends latest comings and goings, drive under the railroad trestle and enter the enchanting beach town of Stony Point ... pull up a beach chair ... and visit with the close-knit longtime friends in author Joanne DeMaio's delightful novel, Night Beach.

The Seaside Sage Series is a heartwarming series of stories of friendship, family, painful secrets, new beginnings and second chances. Author Joanne DeMaio weaves a wonderful tale written in the third person narrative, that is set in the present with flashbacks to the past. The reader is transported to the tranquil seashore town of Stony Point, Connecticut, where they follow along with Celia, Maris, Eva, Matt, Jason, Kyle, Lauren, Nick, Elsa, and Cliff as the summer season draws to a close on their little tranquil coastal town.

In Night Beach, Author Joanne DeMaio easily captivates her readers' attention with this beautifully written tale through a seamless and flowing storyline, and with a wonderful description of a tranquil beach setting that wraps itself around the reader like a sun-warmed beach towel. The characters draw you into their lives with a strong emotional pull, their complexities and flaws are true-to-life, it is easy to relate to them with compassion, empathy, and hope. With a mixture of intrigue, suspense, drama, humor, heartache, hidden secrets, romance, and a strong bond of friendship, this story takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride revolving around Kyle and Lauren's ruined vow renewal ceremony, and an intriguing glimpse into Kyle and Shane's estranged brotherly relationship that will easily keep you turning the pages. But alas, author Joanne DeMaio has teased her readers with a surprising cliffhanger ending that will simply leave them wanting more!

I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I looked forward to catching up with this special group of close-knit friends. It's like you're a summer visitor, and the beach friends envelop you in a warm hug and offer up enough smiles, laughter, and fun-filled beach bliss as their summer adventures unfold.

Night Beach is an intricate story of interweaving friendships, life events, and deep family secrets and drama. It is a wonderful story that continues to demonstrate the power of the magical sweet salt air that will cure what ails you.

My Thoughts: The chaos left behind after the cancelled ceremony brought up memories for those in the beach community. Flashing back to the past and to a time before Shane Bradford did whatever he did to earn being “evicted” from their lives offered a peek into how things were back then.

Whatever he did was not readily apparent to the reader, and even some members of the community were in the dark.

Multiple narrators take us back to the past, as we watch the “time clock” of the present…and slowly we learn more.

Along the way, the author takes us on a walk near the driftline, and we can almost see the ocean stars in the sea. As we peek into the cottages where the residents talk and share their thoughts, we feel a part of the community. In a little cabin in Addison, where Kyle and Lauren seek respite from the detritus of the day, we imagine how they will begin to heal.

I always enjoy these characters, even the parts where they blunder along, making a mess of things. In the end, they manage to move beyond whatever disturbance they have created. A lovely 5 star read.

Night Beach by author Joanne DeMaio is the 8th book in her seaside saga. All the friends from Stony Point are planning to come together to celebrate a vow renewal between Kyle and Lauren that unfortunately never takes place. It’s all due to an unwanted however invited guest. Kyle’s brother, Shane Bradford returns to town and causes havoc on the weekend plans. Even though these people are only characters in a book, you really get to feel like you know them and they become friends. Another thing I really love about these stories is the way the author describes Stony Point and it’s surroundings. You can just imagine what it’s like to walk on the sand, smelling the sweet salt air and watching the waves crash up on the shoreline. Reading these books is like the perfect escape. I’ve always wanted to live near the water, and when I’m ensconced in these stories, it’s like I am. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series, The Little Beach Bungalow. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the beach gang next.

Night Beach is book #8 in Joanne DeMaio's wonderful Seaside Saga series. I've read every one of them and I find myself falling more in love with Stony Point and all of the wonderful characters with each book. I've come to think of the people from Stony Point as family and I love going back to check up on their lives.

I love how each book picks right up where the last one ended. This is a series that would be so easy to binge read because you just want the story to keep going, continuing on with the love and friendships. Sure there are some troubled times, some conflicts among family and friends, but everyone comes together to help each other through the tough times, while also rejoicing in the good times. I've become so emotionally wrapped up in everyone's live, that I experience the tears of sadness and the elation of joy right along with them.

"No, you don't always get to to choose who or what washes up in life's driftline."

I loved my recent, brief visit to Stony Point and I'm excited to go back soon. Come join me, why don't you?

I just love this series of books by Joanne DeMaio, it is like getting together with old friends you haven't been with in awhile! Just the cover of Night Beach will pull you in and you can read this book as a stand alone but it is so good to catch up on all the characters that make these stories wonderful. The descriptions of Stony Point and the beach decorations of candlelit seashell mason jars, the tiki torches, the happiness jar of the Ocean Star Inn, Blue Hydrangeas, and the waves that lap along the shore put me in a mesmerizing spell every time. The lives of Jason, Maris, Elsa, Cliff, Kyle and Lauren and others tell the tale of a spoiled wedding renewal vow, and how the visit from an unexpected and estranged brother was the reason. How will everyone deal with this kept me reading till the very end and I can't wait for the Little Beach Bungalow!!!

Night Beach was another wonderful Stony Point installation in this fun series. I cannot believe I only have book 9, Little Beach Bungalow, left to read. I will jump right in but, will be hopeful Joanne will continue these stories. These characters are interesting, fun and surprising. I LOVED the book but, never want to rewrite the story in a review. This time I will write the themes that I was left with for you to notice as you read, and experience, this fun story:
The Driftline, Happiness jars and Sea glass (shows up in previous stories), Vows, second chances, Twinkle lights, revisiting wishes 1 year later, “Dirty Day” (a new concept)courtesy of Shane, what did Shane do?, what is in store for Cliff and Nick?, Celia...Shane ??????, the sound of the duffel bag dropping (love this image/imagined sound). I am jealous you have this book waiting for you...ENJOY!

NIGHT BEACH
AUTHOR: JOANNE DEMAIO

FIVE WONDERFUL STARS

I just spent the most wonderful weekend with my longtime friends at Stony Point. We had all gathered at The Ocean Star Inn for our dearest friends, Lauren and Kyle’s, beachside vow renewal ceremony for their tenth year anniversary. They had experienced some hard times over the course of those ten years, and this was going to be a new beginning. For better times.

The beach was all set up and gorgeous! Everything was perfect!! But an invited, but unexpected, guest stopped everything. And a night to remember follows. In true Stony Point beach style, it is amazing the way friends pull together and support each another during difficult times. Heartbreak, friendship and true love will rip at your heart as you follow their story.

Joanne DeMaio never disappoints!! Another great read! Forever friends, cherished memories, second chances and heartwarming romance is waiting on you at Stony Point.

This time our visit to Stoney Point is for the renewal of vows after ten years of marriage of Kyle and Lauren. Unfortunately, the celebration does not happen due to the unexpected arrival of Shane, Kyle’s estranged brother. The return of Shane is like a driftline.
The driftline that keeps tugging the beach friends back to their memories, their choices and their secrets. Can the past be washed away as easily as the driftline washes back into the sea? I received an advanced copy for my honest review. Joanne DeMaio has done it again by writing another book full of relationships, connections and secrets. Only to make us to look forward even more for the next book about our beach friends in Stoney Point.

It has been a few months, but I am back reading The Seaside Saga series with this book #8. When I opened the cover, it was like opening a family album. Old friends and family came alive again. If you are going to read this series, you must start at the beginning with Blue Jeans and Coffee Beans. This is how you became part of the family. There is trouble and heartache in this book, but isn't there always something happening in a family. Shane, Kyle's brother, comes back to Stony Point, and it is not good news. His arrival halts everything. There is a lot going on, but you have to open the cover to find out.

The story sets a conflict between two brothers. The younger brother apparently has done something that the older brother saw as so appalling he got everyone in their circle of friends to ostracize him and never speak the brother's name. I may have missed it but I saw no resolution for the conflict between the brothers. The younger brother had a relationship with a woman who eventually married another character but seems to have been the only thing that caused the rift. While there were parts of the story that kept me reading, I was disappointed, though the author did leave room by bringing the younger brother back into the community.

Driftline

The driftline on the beach is the thread that sews the lives of these beach friends together. It's so easy to find oneself immersed in the story. I really didn't want it to end - kept watching the percentage climbing closer to 100, and didn't want to turn to the final page. A little more history revealed, a little more understanding of what makes them all tick. And eventual teaser for what will follow. The Little Beach Bungalow is anxiously anticipated.

I was so glad to be back with my beach friends. I just love them. It makes you wonder if all beaches are like this. Wonderful people and wonderful times watching the Ocean Stars every day.

Once you start reading this book, just like the others, you are immersed in it. It seems like you are really there feeling what they do, experiencing what they do. I just hated to see the book end. Certainly can't wait til the next one comes out.

This book is a timeline of events in the hours after a surprise from the last book. The format kept the story interesting, but at a snail's pace. I enjoy this series, but some of the books are slow, like this one. The author includes every thought and emotion each character has about every experience. It's just too much at times. However, this book ended in a cliffhanger, so now I have to read the next one!

Another great story in the Seaside Saga. The author makes you feel like you are there and can actually see the scenes. The story starts right where the previous one ends. You will fall in love with the characters and they will become your friends. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. It sounds like it will be very interesting!!

This book began where Castaway Cottage left off. This summer at Stony Point goes on forever as their drama continues to unfold. Another piece of their story is revealed, and more secrets come out. The sea air may cure what ails you, but the currents of the ocean, stir up a lot of emotion when one invited guest breaks up a Renewal of Vows Ceremony. I can't wait to see what happens next.

While reading this book, I had no idea that it was part of a series. So, not having read the previous books was obviously a negative for me! The book was still readable and quite good, but it sure was odd to get to the end of it and not find out what Shane did that was so bad... To be honest, though, I didn’t find it captivating enough to want to read the other eight books.

I like this series. I try to read one or two every summer. It's like catching up with old friends. I felt this book was like a "coming attraction" story. Getting the reader's ready for the next one. Right now I am feeling these people have been through enough drama, let them be happy. But I doubt that will happen.

Night Beach by Joanne DeMaio
Love how this one the chapters is time stamped as events go on for just a few days.
Was so concerned about how the last book left off-fearful that a breakup was is in the works for many.
There's heartbreak, love, passion and so many more emotions arise in this book.
Starts where the last book left off and Mitch and Carole are talking to Kyle to get him to sober up then he decides to head to the cabin in the woods-which was to be their second honeymoon trip.
The whole ceremony is called off and Jason tries to pick up the pieces and get everyone back on the same wave length.
Love hearing more about the driftline-precisous information.
Love how the book also picks up where the other characters in the story are doing during the time frame.
Especially love the backstory that i've yet to hear about-new details as the pieces fall into place...
Others talk to Shane and find out he's a different man and he has no hard feelings against Kyle. Lauren is the one who had invited him to the ceremony.
Love hearing of all the crafty decorations and feel such a connection with this group of friends after all these years. Can't wait for the next one-they are all so special.
Twined wishes could be just what they need. Lots of twists and turns, unpredictable things, secrets come out and some are still kept deep within. Book title of next book in the series is shown at the end.
About the author is also included. Can be read as a standalone as the author brings you up to date with brief glimpse of the past.
I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Another heartfelt winner of the seaside saga. This one definitely was more serious and emotional of a ride for me... What the heck happened between the brothers...Will we ever know???? Still love this series so much I tried to read it slowly to savor it but it's so good I finished in record time once again! Can't wait to see what happens next for this fabulous group of characters!
