Ember Casey is a USA Today bestselling writer who lives in Atlanta, Georgia in a den of iniquity (or so she likes to tell people). She write books about wicked billionaires, Hollywood bad boys, playboy princes, and sexy treasure hunters.
When she's not writing steamy romances, you can find her whipping up baked goods (usually of the chocolate variety), traveling (her bucket list is infinite), or generally causing trouble (because somebody has to do it).
This is book 5 of the Cunningham family series and was dedicated primary to the wedding of Calder and Lily. Also Ward and Louisa were part of the book, since the wedding took place at their home the "Cunningham Manor".
I didn't like this book as much as I did with the others. Calder was an asshole most of the time and even Lily wasn't her lovely self. They accepted to celebrate their wedding at Lou and Wards home but they were still soar with anger and jealousy why Ward and Lou remained with the Manor and not them. OK I understand that between siblings exist competitiveness and jealousy sometime but I expected them to be happy that the estate was brought back to one of them and that wasn't going to be a hotel anymore. I expected Calder to be happy for the new fate of the estate and for his sister. But he didn't...he didn't appreciate Wards efforts to maintain and not sell it and rebuild again the spirit of the house. Beside Ward and Lou opened their home for them and Ward was even working night and day for a surprise for the couple....I didn't see gratefulness from Calder and Lily...and their prejudices about them get to my nerves.
Lily...even took everything for granted...it was an episode I wanted to bitch slap her.
"Today our job is to get all the guest rooms ready for our guests....and while I would normally get bored with this kind of work, I'm enjoying Lou's company. "
Ok "princess Lily" let put things in clear here...the only one with the right to get bored and tired is Lou, a pregnant women in the 8th month, hosting you and your wedding and she's preparing 20 rooms for your guests, cooking for you and doing all this out of love. I don't even want to listen Lily open her mouth and complain for the work...this is your wedding suck it up and be grateful to this people.
An other thing I didn't like was how the Taran issue was treated. He was treated like a stalker, like a thief while this guy wanted only to know his family and bond with his blood. Calder was an asshole to him and I expected Lily to treat him differently, be more open and also Ward who came from the same situation. The book didn't give us much what he and Lou thought about this guy. And what I hated was the fact that they were painting him as someone not to trust because he entered in their maze...
Ok lets make some step back and remember Louisa did worse working with a false identity in the estate and spying and stealing and destroying. And not to mention Ward who was hiding in the maze and sleeping there for weeks or more. And Calder and Lily aren't angles either....they both have broken to the property while it belonged to the new owner and Lily when was still Calder's home. So all the judging was hypocrisy and total nonsense. I would have expected an other outcome by the end, not kicking his ass out of their life...that sucks!
I hope things get better with the Christmas book and love to read more about Taran!
I read book 1 and 2, didn’t read Lou and Ward’s book, and now just finished this one. Honestly only the second book was interesting, this one felt so forced. As in forced drama and theatrics. Gotta introduce some tension and mystery!! It was dragging, so I skimmed the second half. Felt very bland. I won’t be reading the rest of the series.
I just loved Calder and Lily's story. Their wedding was one of my favourite part of this series. Their vows were unique and I basically enjoyed reading this part too.
That was me the entire time Calder was acting like an idiot!
He and Lily are finally getting married and I have waited five whole books for this moment! But then shows up and confronts him and Calder feels like he has to keep it a secret from Lily and Lou until after the wedding. CALDER! CMON BUDDY! Don't you know that you shouldn't keep secrets like this from your partner? Because they will find out. And she did.
Of course it ended up okay in the end, but I couldn't help but scream at Calder's stupidity. And his arrogance at assuming this his father He was, after all, a man who spent his money carelessly and costed the Cunningham's everything. So how could Calder be surprised?["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I was given this book to read in turn for an honest review!!!
Calder and Lily go back to the Cunningham estate where their love affair first began to celebrate their big day. Calder and Lily determined to become closer to Lou and Ward, plan on starting married life full of hope, love and happiness.
One chance meeting with a stranger brings all Calder has ever known into question, can he discover the truth, or will the past come back to haunt him?
When a stranger confronts Calder, it has him questioning the life he thought he knew. How this information affects his future is up to him, will he allow it to rule his mind? Or will he confront it and discover the truth?
I loved that we got to read both Lily and Calder pov’s. The passion and attraction between Calder and Lily has not faded, not only is Calder hotter and more dominant than ever before, but their connection is also much stronger. I loved how Lily and Lou are forming a strong friendship and that we got a glimpse into the life of Lou and Ward several months on. The twist in this story was brilliant, a twist I would have never expected. This story is not without its laugh out loud moments too. I can’t wait to read more from the Cunningham family!
If you have read His Wicked Games and Her Wicked Heart than this story is for you!!! Romance, comedy, suspense, and mystery you are sure to love this story!!!
First, I loved that this book alternated between Lily and Calder's point of views. It added so much to this particular part of their lives to understand their motivations and emotions.
Secondly, having Lily and Calder finally married was so beautiful. Even as the week before the wedding became bumpy and almost unbearable at times, their thoughts on love, marriage and family were inspiring. I definitely cried at this wedding.
I had no doubt that this book would be good. Ember Casey has never let me down before. Finally Lily and Calder tied the knot, I have been waiting for that day. This book didn't disappoint. Look forward to the next installment of the Cunningham's. Five stars
What's better than a wedding? A baby! Lily and Calder are about to start their new life together as Lou and Ward get ready to bring a new life in to this crazy and passionate family. More surprises along the way and of course more hot sex.
as I read this I wondered what could they encounter now to test their relationship. but I wouldn't have ever thought of a brother. wow. Calder has some serious emotional issues along with his brother. SMH
Although, there wasn't much smut going on in this book, it was still a wonderful read! Continue to love the characters along with wick games! Read and find out! It's a treat!
