J.R. Rain is the author of 110 novels and counting. He lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest, where he's hard at work on his next novel... and fighting off sparkly vampires.
The conclusion to the red rider story ends with some stunning revelations and shocking transformations!!
06/16/2020 I did a re-read of this installment today and I was instantly pulled back into the humor and excitement that the series brought me originally!!
Samantha Moon is on the Rid Rider care, she was hire to find the little girl , Annie . With the help of Allison, Kingsley, Tammy and Anthony will she find the Red Rider an destroy him? More surprise to come, Samantha and Elizabeth square off, Samantha change to something any. Great story.
An epic tale of Samantha Moon, her family and closest friends as she seek the infamous Red Rider to rescue a child and put a final end to evil hunger. This Battle will change Samantha Moon forever. I am looking forward to next Samantha Moon adventure.
I loved this book! I read it in a very short time because I couldn't put it down. It is impossible to list the reasons without giving up some spoilers regarding the story. Fantastic story involving the whole family. Read this book!
Vampire for Hire book 16 Moon master , JR Rain and Matthew S Cox, to save child Samantha Moon would go to the end of the world. Sam discovers unique connection to the fiend and so much more. Another great tale with great characters. 4* kindle.
Sam knows she must do battle with the Red Rider, but must learn how to go above the different levels (whatever that means) without during herself.
This book was one of the better ones, insofar as excitement is concerned. The pace is fast and furious. The end of the book leaves us with many things resolved, but more to be done.
At the start of this I was very confused and felt like I’d missed a chapter or a whole book. I know there was a cliff hanger at the end of the last book but it would have been nice to have a bit of lead in from the previous book. Instead it jumps right into a case making us play catch-up. Making more like 1 book that’s been chopped in half.
Actually the V for H series itself has been getting weird and mixed up lately with too much stuff both current, past and other dimensional. It’s getting hard to keep up with what/who Sam is. I’m not sure the author has a handle on what direction he wants to go but just throws things into the pot and forgets to stir. And there’s a lot of internal emoting going on.
The second half of the book turned out really good, once it got past all the emoting and confusion. I love the changes in Sam. Actually clears up some confusion.
In this Sam goes on a trip with Kingsley, Allison and her kids to Santa Barbara to look into a missing witch child. Her guardian angel has lost her. Hmmmm. She’s been taken by the Red Rider, an interdimensional demon and Sam has to find a way to track him down and kill him.
Fave scenes: the fairy tree, the fairies healing Annie, Justin Bieber music (cruel) and Maple’s gift to Tammy.
4 Stars – Moon Master is an adult urban fantasy by J.R. Rain and the 16th book in his Vampire for Hire series.
Finally, back to what readers have always enjoyed about this series. Sam uses her investigative skills and supernatural abilities to hunt down the Red Rider—a supremely evil, dimension jumping fiend—and save a young, ten-year old witch from a gruesome death. Kingsley, Allison, Tammy, and Anthony all join in the foray, which results in major—and exciting—changes for Sam. Can’t wait to see where the storyline goes next!
Moon Master, Vampire for Hire Book 16 by J.R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox
This book, the second in the Red Rider thread, was better than the earlier (#15) book, which got so bogged down in backstory and outrageous Christian dogma that I had to force myself to purchase and read this book. I figured it couldn't get any worse. Luckily Rain and/or Cox seem to have readjusted their approach to a story about a vampire back to action with this episode. Was there still ridiculous religious speculation -- oh, yeah. But it was tolerable (sort of), and the story returned to relationships on this realm of existence for the most part. Yes, Talos was part of the story and a part that I always enjoy. The other 95 dimensions? Not so much, thank you. I also found a couple of proof-reading errors in this novel, which is very unusual for a Rain novel. I note that I especially dislike novels Rain writes with Matthew Cox. I have read any of Cox's individual works, so I suppose I can't be sure, but I think perhaps it is his influence in the stories that makes me want to put the novels on my "threw-it-at-the-wall" shelf. Big Sigh. I guess I'll wait until the next book comes around later this year to decide if I will be moving on with Samantha or bidding her a permanent farewell.
Moon Master: A Samantha Moon Novel (Vampire for Hire Book 16)
OMG 😳 !!!! I loved 💕 this books!!! Every single one of them, as soon as one comes out, I love to read, his books, it's like I'm an addict...
Anyways, This book was definitely not a disappointment- just wish it didn't end!! Sam does it again with her adventures, I am so sad about the way she found out about her father, wish it was under better circumstances, but at least she knows it wasn’t him who hurt her, but loved her forever !!!
love her kids along for the ride, especially her son, and her daughter is getting more powerful the older she gets!!!! I loved the combo between Allison and Sam, and I missed the more of dynamic between the detective and Samantha , I love more of them together!!!
All in all this book was amazing !!! I loved the storyline, it was out of this world, where he comes up with them always amazes me!!! Can't wait to read his next book.... I have waited a few years so I can read one after the other!!! I definitely recommend this book and anyone he writes, what a magnificent author…
The action sequences in these are good but the droning on and on about the metaphysical portions are exhausting and so so repetitive. I found myself wanting more of the actual story. Also, sometimes the facts of the characters change (Sam uses her nails to draw blood and then in book 16 she checks for fangs. She never had that issue before?!) The books are a fast read (I could get through 2 or 3 a day. The characters are believable (except the maturity of her kids which is WAY off and underdeveloped and not very believable). It's possible you'll enjoy better if you read the spin offs. There are a LOT of references ( repetitive too) to the spinoffs but I managed to get through the Samantha Moon series without too much trouble. It isn't Anita Blake or Mercedes Thompson or Sookie Stackhouse or the women of the otherworld series by ANY means. These are a good read for the beach or while riding the bus or waiting on your kids to finish basketball practice. They fill the time.
At least she killed the bad guy off. The best things about these books is the interaction between all the family members that is so well done and it is so funny sometimes, Especially between her best friend alison and her. Her daughter Tammy which has been a total bitch through all the books I don't care if she's a teenager no 1 acts like that towards her mother. Finally the next book Has 349 pages. The author could have Put 3 of the books into at least 1. It is been annoying how short the books are. The narrator is excellent and truly makes the story. Win the Books no longer have audiobook that is when I will no longer read the series. I don't understand why some authors have audiobook all 2 out there series no matter how long they are and then others cheap out. But Like I said the narration is really good that What has kept me reading the books.
This one had a bit of a slow start, plenty of dialogue, but once it took off, was impossible to put down! Samantha and her magical friends and family set off to take down the Red Rider who has kidnapped a ten year old and plans to consume and destroy her the same way another of Samantha‘s former lives died by his hand. She will stop at nothing to pick up her fathers mantle and take down the Red Rider for good, even of it means dimension hopping. But will this good deal end up biting her, when the dark entity Elizabeth finally makes her move? Can’t wait to read what’s next!
This series (and the others in the same universe) keep getting better and better. This one was really amazing. I'm not sure I can find a great way to describe it without spoilers, but big things happened and more big things are coming! I also caught up on Allison's series as well as the Alexis Silver novels. They are all starting to come together in the same timeframe and I'm thinking all of them are going to start seeing big changes in their worlds. Can't wait to keep reading. Also a big thanks to the authors for putting all of these on Kindle Unlimited so when I hunker down to catch up on all of the series, I can do so without breaking the bank.
I would give anything if I had this kind of imagination but then I would be the one writing books! Lol. This was certainly different to the other books but of course, just as good. I was happy for some of the things that happened to better Sam. She can really get herself in some messes but true to her form, she comes out smelling like a rose. I am not at all surprised to hear they may be making this into a movie. I just wonder what took them so long! Thank you for creating such a wonderful series. I have loved every one of these books and have told all my friends about it so they can get “hooked” on them like me!
J. R. Rain...what happened? This is the first series I have binged on for 16 books one after the other. I am so disappointed to see Samantha's character deteriorating into a snarky, long winded, preachy, silly woman. And enough with the skid marks! I mean really!! Disgusting! I fear that Samantha has outlived her depth and complexity. I am moving on to number 17, but it seems Samantha is falling victim to the fate of far too many MC's...becoming an airhead. Why oh why can't we have deep and mature and elegant women characters who aren't silly? I have enjoyed this series immensely, because of Samantha, and her relationship with Kingsly, who is becoming vampire whipped. Sad....
Another will written fantasy world 🌎 vampire haunting adventure thriller novel Vampire for Hire Series book sixteen by J. R. Rain. Samantha Moon 🌙 rescues a girl 👧 from the Redrider who has killed young witches for 500 years. The race is on too find and end his life. I would recommend this series and author to 👍readers of fantasy mystery novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading. 2022 👒😉🏡
Everything was going great. Loved the series but about the 15 book you started dumbing down Samantha Moon. I did not like it. You made her a federal agent and a Pl. Which to me is a very smart lady. Then she started asking questions which she should have known or deducted it. She also kept asking the same questions over and over. Which was so getting on my nerves.
I do like the books. I see what happens with the rest of the series.
I like this series but wish author stopped adding creepiness to each story. I speed read thru these parts. The horror about the children was cheap sensationalism . I love the banter between characters, funny. So glad author stopped writing about devil. Not necessary for a good story
I usually look forward to the next installment but he last few have become too convoluted and wierd and it pains me to say this but I am just being honest. That being said I will keep reading these books and hope things get back to being 4 and 5 star books
Awesome read fast paced and lots of action and love the snarky humor between the characters. The storyline is entertaining and fun, love the mystery, magic awesome read love Sam and all her friends and family
Because it was a struggle at the beginning for me to get into this book. I liked the first 15 better. The story eventually came together and I will read # 17. This is still a worthwhile read , just not the normal 5 star book from the authors
Not my favorite Samantha Moon story. The current plot line is a little too “out there” for me with the multiple dimensions, etc. I’ll still continue to read the series though I’ll hope J.R. Rain heads back to why I’ve read this in the first place (supernatural not science fiction).
This time Sam has really done it. After she and her family and friends went after the Red Rider many changes take place and from these changes our hero will be a totally different being. Can't wait to see how this changes her life this time.
I do love Sam Moon and her family and seeing her relationship with Kingsley grow. Unfortunately the story is becoming a little 'expected' for me. Onwards to the next and the WAR!
Samantha, her friends and family fight to destroy an evil killer. The excitement continues as they traverse a world they have never been. Samantha's actions change everything about her. She has now started a chain of events.
Great read!! Although I did get lost a few times during the other dimensions talk but another fantastic addition to the story. Need to know what happens next! These books just leave you wanting more
I love this series. I've been reading it for several years now and I have to tell you, this is the weirdest one yet. I can't tell you why that I think that it is so weird because that would give away too much of the story, but if you enjoyed previous books in this series, this one will not disappoint.
