" i started looking up palmer rockey when i retired from the post office after 35 years. i had more time to work on the computer. that was around 2000. i wanted to find out where he was, but found out after a free trial period on ancestry.com, that he was dead."

what a great book....... despite containing very little useful information expanding on the lore of palmer rockey, this is probably the best way to tell his story....... it reminds me of a charles willeford novel (black mass of brother springer or the woman chaser) and reads like a transcribed deposition, just a bitter recollection of a bad marriage, cookie cursing her ex husband who lived off her wages for a decade while he tried to finance his incoherent movie

the book ends with cookie summarizing the wikipedia article for naples. "between 1282 and 1816, it was ruled by the kingdom of naples and then in 1861 united with sicily and became "the two sicilies" capital. (could this be where palmer got his education in conning people?)"

i dont know if palmer's movie will ever get released but i appreciate cookie's scene-by-scene breakdown for curious people like me. sounds like a terrible movie and awful marriage and i hope cookie found more happiness with her second husband charles ashcraft!

thank you cookie for writing this book
