First of all, just take a moment to enjoy and appreciate the sexy man on this cover! I already loved the idea of Rebel, but once I saw the cover I realized that Kelly had perfectly captured what I pictured him to be!
I absolutely loved the character of Rebel, loved Theo, and ended up loving Fallon. But Fallon was tricky for me initially. She was understandably worried about her sister, as well as, her own safety, but it took a while for her to really start grabbing my attention. However, after finishing the book and looking back on her character, I like the way she was developed and slowly came out of her shell. She went from being somewhat reserved to sparring with Rebel in a boxing ring to being in an unimaginable and dangerous situation. Rebel, Theo, and Fallon all developed and changed in the story, but Fallon's character stands out the most as far as adapting and making changes based on her experiences.
My followers already know how much I love Kelly Moore's novels, but this one was special because it took me back to her Broken Pieces series, which were the first books that I read by her. This book gave me that nostalgic feeling with the military and crime components, paired with the fast-paced action and suspense. There are constant twists and turns, then there were "aha moments," and then there would be some exciting twist again, and so on.
I wish I could go into detail about the many things I loved about the plot, but I absolutely don't want to give any spoilers because the fantastic thing about this book is trying to figure out what's going on, why, and who is responsible. Besides the suspense/thriller aspects of the novel, there is also a perfect amount of humor and romance added in making it a perfect read regardless of your preferred genre. The overall themes include persevering, taking chances, overcoming trauma/heartbreak, and the importance of finding happiness and beauty again, whatever that means to you.
Loved Rebel, loved this story, and recommend it highly!
This is not a cliffhanger novel and things are mostly wrapped up in the end, but it definitely leaves you wanting more and has me crazy excited about Theo's upcoming book!
*Many thanks to Kelly Moore for providing this review copy in exchange for my honest review!
