This book offers simple, easy to understand advice for children about creating comic strips and uses Garfield comics to both entertain and show concrete examples of the advice in practice. It covers aspects of both art and story and does a good job at both. In addition to specific instructions on how to draw various Garfield characters, the book talks about why certain characters are drawn the way they are and ways to match the art style to the story being told.

It is also a good guide to storytelling in general that could help give young readers a better understanding of narrative, especially in stories involving humor. It covers the basics of making sure that every story has a beginning, middle, and end and then goes into further detail about telling funny stories. There are clear instructions for setting up a joke and a punchline and some advice about what makes jokes funny. This is an excellent guide for young writers and illustrators who want to make comics or improve their storytelling skills.

Although I really enjoyed the science Garfield book I LOVED this one about creating your own comics! This one gave you step by step instructions on what to do. I really thought it was easy to follow and that kids of all ages would love to use this as a guide. If you want to learn to create your own comics then this book is totally for you!! I loved it!

Esté libro está increíble. Tiene una didáctica práctica. Es sencilla para resultados maravillosos. Porque no hay atajo pero si una estructura clásica. Trabajar en una tira cómica no es sólo un dibujo y esté libro lo explica muy chido.

Pretty cool. Goes into the drawing, the format, and how jokes work. Pretty specific for comic strips, but a great start.
