#TrueBeing ,
By Sagar Datta, Publisher: Notion Press, Chennai, Pp 368, Price: Rs. 399, Year of publication: 2019, ISBN 978-1-68466-565-5.

In a way, the cover of this book briefly uncovers its contents viz. one book, three themes, many musings. We all human beings have thoughts about various issues, some of which we do express, but mostly we may not express openly. But there are individuals who feel strongly about certain points. These feelings may be based upon their own experience or of others or may even be their own abstract thinking. But this varies from person to person. This book has been written by Shri Sagar Datta. It appears that lot of thinking has been done by him, before carefully penning down the script, before or after deciding the titles of the Chapters. It does have personal touch from beginning to the end. The very important human topics viz. Love (33 Chapters), Life (57 Chapters) and Relationships (52 Chapters) have been discussed in three parts of the book. Each Chapter consists of poetic verses, musings, illustrations, four-liners etc. The book starts with Introduction, which states that poetry and prose have come from the soul.

First theme is Love. This most important emotion is very complex and can take extreme positions. Relationships of love also change with time and may even become unfavourable and in case of sufferings we may be forced to apply closure with hopes for a better future for both. An extract from the poem "Make me grow" is noteworthy (Quote) For I was just A diamond, Fresh uncut and unfinished, And you Made the world see my illumination"(Unquote) Relationships should be simple and clear about expectations, wants and sense of belonging to each other. Marriage is not of two persons but of two families, requiring understanding, balancing and adjustment. We cannot force someone to love us. Love should not just be physical but beyond, for the soul. There should be selfless concern. Detachment may be required at appropriate times. One odd mistake should not become centre-point of break-up. Healing also requires time and patience. Ending of relationship should be the last resort, since there is pain and poison in life when the partner leaves. It is difficult to forget her in case of break-up. When relationship ends, only good points should be remembered. The author goes deep into the aspects of love where we live for the other person, with commitment and we surrender to each other. Love is a meaningful journey and not a destination. Bonding between two persons is with some rules. Infidelity is an insult. An extract from "Love needs effort" in the Chapter Difficult Love is relevant: (Quote) Obsession with someone should be without pain but one of pleasure"(Unquote). Love changes people, makes us grow and improve and should make us selfless.
The second theme is Life. The musings are based on author's observations of various kinds of people. Our beliefs are outcomes of agreement between our heart, mind and soul. We should think, dream and have vision differently in life and cut through the limitations. We realize the troubles and struggles of our parents, only when we become parents. We must know that life has a purpose and we have to make it beautiful. Problems in our life exhaust us and therefore we must also relax, and progress after pauses. For some time in life, we are single. It has its own good and bad perspectives. It is OK to be single till we find someone with whom we can share and spend life. We should improve continuously, assess our strengths and progress and excel in them. We should be close to the people who make us pleasant and energize us and avoid people who see only our shortcomings, without any solutions for them. Each one of us is a different, unique, imperfect & special person and we should take pride in being that special person. Though it is very difficult to forget the past but still we have to try to avoid old toxic incidents and memories. We must know that nothing in this world is permanent. We need detachment but it does not mean that we should not care. Failure is not the end of the world. It gives lessons for future. We all have adequate strength to survive and progress.

In many cases, friendship lasts till purpose and benefits are taken. The love, connection and care remain for the time being. We should take it that we are being tested by God. We should not lose hope. We should know ourselves first, feel confident and not be afraid. We cannot always have true companions. We must forget and forgive and not think about revenge. We should see our own life and in no case we should hurt ourselves. We should get inspiration from successful persons. We should not take many responsibilities. The reality is that the world goes on with or without us. We should learn from failures and losses. We may help others but not interfere in their affairs. We should be clear about our intentions and not worry much about opinion of others. We should not allow others to control our thoughts. Life is beautiful and creative. We must not fall prey to depression. We must thank God for what all he has given to us. God is doing what is due for us.

The third part is Relationships: Relationships with our partners and all others like friends, family, colleagues etc. involved in our life are important. Relationships should be created and allowed to grow. We should give credit to our parents for our present status in birth, nature, personality, growth and progress etc. In case of true love, distance is of no consequence but lack of communication or silence does matter. In a relationship, communication is very important. But our thoughtless actions may sometimes cause permanent loss of relationships. Generally others want only small things like partner wants love, parents want respect etc. It is said that our partners have been already matched and decided by God. It is very difficult to change a person. We have to accept her as she is. A bad relationship may also give positive results. In case of anger we should take it up with the person who caused it, otherwise just swallow it. Sometimes when one person apologizes for his past mistakes, then we should forgive him and move on. We should be away from persons who hate and harm us or make us feel small. We should not break somebody's heart and expect her to love us. It is better to let her do reasonable things which she wants to do. Everything has two sides, bright side and dark side. We should evaluate, realize and develop empathy. Before blaming others, we should look within ourselves first. We need not be dependent on anyone but this point does not arise in love. Here an extract is relevant: (Quote) A real man is someone who can make a woman smile and be happy when she is with him (Unquote). It is a matter of loyalty, commitment, honesty, listening and understanding etc. Trusting and investing are very important. Our view must be straightforward and not one of pretending. When a person who belonged to us, is seen with someone else, it is time to move on. Cheating and lying are extremely harmful. Any relationship on the foundation of untruth cannot last.

We must have positive attitude for future but with caution, even with past bad relationships, since these also change with time and have ups and downs. Our partner also has some limitations. If one has problem with someone, we should resolve it by discussing it with him rather than broadcasting and involving others. We should not take anyone for granted since we may lose the person whom we love the most, in spite of good intentions. Perceptions vary from time to time and from person to person. Maintaining bond is responsibility of both sides. People do not always present things correctly. We should try to keep relationships going even though these may be in troubled waters. There is no single theory for a successful relationship. People tend to remind our past to open old wounds. We may make mistakes but we should learn from them. People come back in cases of true love.

Conclusion: In the beginning of the book, the author provides dedication to all hearts and souls equally, a small tip from the author to read the book slowly in parts and not read it in one go and gives blessings, my dear reader as a poem and then Introduction. ECover design is colourful and appealing. Towards the end of the book is The Last Chapter, which tells us to rethink about our lives for love, relations and regrets. Author expresses his gratefulness for our reading the book till end, as it will help in forgiving and forgetting things. About the author has been provided at the end of the book. However, About the book and Subject Index have not been provided in the book. The illustrations provided in the book are in black and white and lack clarity and appear to be blurred or indistinct.

Summarizing it can be said that it is an emotional work and the author has poured his heart into the contents of this book and gives a real self-reflection of his own personal experiences of his life or of somebody too close to him or may be his own imagination, which has found expression in poems, illustrations and musings etc. The reader gets benefited and becomes a lot wiser by learning the intricacies of these three themes. It is said that an intelligent person learns from the experience of others. The most important learning in love and relationships is to forget and forgive. Of course, the reviewer agrees with the author that this book should be read slowly and in parts. The author expects feedback from the readers. Since this book provides some points for avoiding and resolving troubled relationships and finding peace in life it is considered satisfying, worth reading and very useful for every one of us to make our love life, overall life and relationships best possible to lead to overall happiness in life. This book is having simple language, is easy to understand, has beautiful presentation and valuable lessons. It will help us to face various problems in life with strength, find their solutions and observe a change for the better. According to the reviewer, this book will surely motivate and change the way we see and live our own life. It is a must read for everyone.

Love, Life & Relationships - three different themes are pondered over and woven together to bring out the book #truebeing. Through the amalgamation of both subtle poetry and prose, the author has attempted to make us converse with his words and know ourselves better. With the lyrical description of his observations and reflections, his musings strike a chord with the readers' hearts.

In the first section, the author outlines the fragile emotion of love and expresses his views on them. He touches different aspects of love and the importance of space in it. He also goes on discussing the crucial element of understanding which if missed can crumble a relationship. The book covers the blinding of a person in love, longing, heartbreak, and extends to teach us not to dissolve ourselves in love. What I liked the most was the author's take on unrequited love. How unfulfilled or unrequited love could empower you was worth reading.

In the second section, the book takes us to the nooks and corners of our lives. How to live it ideally and how to make it happier is what is discussed here. The author had emphasized on creating a unique identity of oneself and accepting one's genuineness. We must take pride in who we are. Choices and hopes are one of the key elements of life and the author has carefully picked words for explaining things.

In the last section, the book enters the realm of relationships. It focuses on building meaningful relations and maintaining them. He lays emphasis on the importance of communication for a relationship to survive and thrive. Also, he brings to the fore the negative shadow which emotions like jealousy and possessiveness might cast on a relationship.

All in all, the book is delicious food for our soul made up of the observations of its author. His reflections and thoughts on several nuances of love and life served as food for thought. However, I have found a few errors in the book in terms of missing words grammar. I would suggest the author go for a round of editing of the book.

To sum it up, the book directs you towards living a life which is complete and satisfactory. It guides you to become a good human being, the #truebeing. If you like to read poems and abstract write-ups with the finer details discussed simply, go for this book. Also, the cover is lovely and beautiful!

Introduction:

‘TrueBeing’- as captivating as the title of this book is, it is fairly vague when it comes to giving an idea about its content, unless you read it. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, for which I would like to extend my gratitude to Sagar Dutta. 🙂 #TrueBeing brings together three themes and expresses a lot through the means of poetry. Here’s a detailed excerpt of what lies inside the book.

Summary:

As mentioned earlier, the book is a combination of three themes- love, life and relationships, the three most important components we live with. The book is a compilation of several poems based on these three themes, followed by a detailed explanation about them. It expresses the best and worst aspects of love, relationships and life, which each of us experience at some point or the other. It is an expression of facts in a more creative and interesting way that will help readers connect with it and mirror their own thoughts.

Writing Style:

Although it is a poetry book, the author has tried to maintain a simple language without complicating the writing. In a simple and creative way, each poem expresses different thoughts in an effective way and gives an insight into the human mind, relationships and its complications.

My Perception:

Although ‘TrueBeing’ is more of a matter-of-fact poetry book, at some points, it also served as a self-help book for me. Personally, I was elated to have read such a great book that literally mirrors your feelings and teaches you to deal with people and situations in a better way. Be it love, life or relationships, the book expresses the good and bad sides of each theme and teaches you to nurture the good and let go of the bad. The thoughts expressed by the author are not only creative but also extremely useful and personal.

If you are dealing with a bad relationship at the moment or facing problems in life, I would suggest each and every person to read this book once. Also, the fact that the thoughts are expressed in the form of poems makes it easier and more interesting to read.

*A free ARC was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.*

#TrueBeing is a collection of poems that aims to be relatable to everyone and helps the reader to reflect upon themselves. The poems are separated by the themes of Love, Life and Relationships however some way overlap on the themes but it is separated to what seemed more fitting. On every page, Sagar Datta writes a wise poem, completed with beautiful illustrations and an explanation that complements the poem.

In his book, he writes about losing someone, caring for them, self-growth, forgiveness and many other relatable issues. Sagar Datta's collection of poems encourages to self-reflect, learn and grow. It is definitely one that is able to speak to the reader's heart.

Altogether, there are a large number of poems, more or less around 100. It is difficult to pick a favourite but I really resonated with a few, namely Commitment Concerns,
Fancy My Soul, Life's Purpose, Hope and a Little Sugar, Negative Feelings, Thank You, God, To Err is Human and Welcome Back. There are very many wise words in there and good advises, to which Sagar Datta would prefer for his readers to read it slowly and to have time to reflect.

I love that there were very beautiful illustrations that worked with the poem however some were a little odd. I do admire the consistency with the art style. Although the poems strive to advise on different topics, I felt that it was a bit too many to engage the interest for long. Overall, I do believe that this may calm and give strength to the readers that others can relate to the way that they feel.

Book Review: #TrueBeing by Sagar Datta.

TrueBeing is a self reflection and prose book which recently got launched at the world book fair. It is in a e-book format with 378 pages, published by @notionpress .
It is a collection of poems which obviously makes me a little biased towards it. The book is divided into three sections, first being 'Love', then 'Life' and third is 'Relationships'. The poems have been illustrated beautifully as they talk about the most common yet most important things of our existence. The basic life hack. The art of living is nothing but these three main philosophies, love, life and relationships. I did not complete the book in one go because the author says in the start of the book to not to read it in a single sitting but to let it seep in, understand the emotions and be drenched in the depth of it.
.
.
.
I loved the part 'Life' because it felt real and unapologetically relatable. The beauty of the book was it's simplicity in every prose with the language. The author kept the language easy, poetic and simple for the readers to understand and feel connected.
I'd give this book a 4 star. A highly recommended book to every poetry lover.

I'm sharing a small piece of poetry from the book which I loved:

Let's live our lives

The way they are designed.

You walk on your path,

I walk on mine.

Let us listen to the truths

That are out there for us.

Let us embrace them all,

With our heart, soul and mind!

The book has three different themes sorted by the types of poems written. The first theme is of love: my favourite. The poems are not just about heartbreaks and crazy for each other but also cover the smaller difficulties of loving someone. Also, some poems were like a message to people who love and care but don’t get same in return. All the poems are amazingly written and are easy to understand. Moreover, the poet has also added a discussion after every poem to understand the poems better. I like this idea of discussion and also didn’t like it. These discussions can help the reader understand the idea of the poet behind every poem but it also closes the door of ‘probabilities’. See, the magic of a poem is that it speaks differently to different people, after reading the discussion, a reader won’t analyse much and think only what the poet wants the reader to think.
The life theme is though nicely written sketches quite common topics of being unique, I love my life, Different is good and alike. The motivation in the poems is sweet and influential.
The theme of relationship is quite like the love one with betrayal and feelings but also about family and people we just have some kind of connection with.
My choice from the book was usually the short poems. The poet was sarcastic in those and to the point. The poet is usually bold and wasn’t afraid to say what’s on mind; daring, sarcastic, to the point, beautiful choice of words yet easy were few traits of the poems.

The book belongs to the non-fiction genre. It is a collection of poems and reflections on the same. Since I’m fond of poems, I’d be a little biased and say, I liked the book.
It is divided in 3 parts- love, life and relationships. All three are the most endearing topics for us all.
Just like the author mentions in the beginning, even I feel that one must not read it in one go. Let the contents of the book soak in your very being. Devour everything that the author wants to offer through his book. Only if you properly reflect on each piece, you will able to understand the true meaning behind it.
Basic philosophies of life are put in form of short poems and then explained in all the more simple language.
I particularly liked the section based on ‘life’. It had some relatable and motivating pieces. Allows one to indulge in some self-reflection.
You can give this one a try even if you are not fond of poetry since each piece is explained properly in a brief and simple manner. Though, personally I like poems which are a little more complicated than this and have a certain amount of depth but the book aims at general public so it’s good to go.

#truebeing by Sagar Datta was provided to me as a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
Here it is,
It’s a Non-fiction, 378 pages long book. I loved how unique this book is well-crafted, constructed with both poetry and prose & also some amazing artworks. As you begin, the author added an idea or let’s calls it a suggestion that to not to go and read this book in one sitting, it’s a great suggestion I must say. Read and you'll know why so. It is basically divided into three parts- Love, Life, and Relationships which entirely talks about self-reflection, emotions, musing out of authors own real-life observations and experiences beautifully written on 376 pages. It’s intended to talk about true thoughts, not trying to hurt anyone’s opinion. Out of all the poems, deciding which one is going to be my favorite is definitely hard But, I do remember how much I loved reading “Self-Harm”. I highly recommend you to read it at least once maybe when you really like to talk to someone about anything from love, life, and Relationship and I guarantee this book will talk to you back. Have fun reading this one.

Pages: 367

Genre: Poetry

Rating: 5/5

Review:

True being is a poetry book which reflects a person’s inner self. The book comprises of three phase Life, Love and Relationship.

Every soul can relate themselves with all the poetry. The poems express Lose, Care, Self-development and Commitments. They author discloses all the reality issues of the human being.

Sagar Datta explains each poem in a separate paragraph. All the poems are obvious, as the language is simple.

The most intriguing part of the book is that the author had included some amazing paintings related to the poem’s topic.

I didn’t even find a single negative point of the book because I was engulfed by the poems and choosing the favourite one is a challenging task as each poem is better than the other.

If you try to complete this book in a one go, then you won’t get the pure essence of the read. So, read, feel and go ahead.

I will suggest this book to all the readers. Even people who are not much interested in poetry should also give it a try. This is not a book to miss. Happy reading.

My Review : #TrueBeing by Sagar Datta is a piece of beautifully crafted Nonfiction that contains poems and proses exploring the themes of love, life and relationships.

Diverting from the mainstream cliched poetry books that only speaks about love and heartbreaks, the poet emphasizes on the importance of self-love. He picks up the details of our everyday life and feelings surrounding them, and decodes the meaning of life in a simpler way.

The poems are a delight to read and definitely relatable that makes oneself ponder on the things that are actually necessary in life. Complimenting them are little proses that further teaches us how to live a more meaningful life.

Although the central idea is love, the poet doesn't restrict himself to only love poems and delves on self improvement, realization and growth of a person as a whole.

The illustrations of the book are equally beautiful and well thought out and adds to a more unique experience for the reader.

Definitely recommended.

This book is full of poems and it reflects ourselves of what struggles we went through in each stage of life, love and in relationship, and an intense meaning to our actions, our anger, happiness, breakup and to every little thing we have done or we are going to do.

I liked many of the poems. One of my favourite poems is:

Don’t go for looks, they deceive,
Choose someone who’s smile you receive.
Don’t go for wealth, it won’t stay,
Choose someone whose heart knows your way.

I have many favourite lines and one of them is:

"Let us not blame ourselves for loving someone a lot. Let us not feel ashamed to be expressive and not be compensated enough. There is no need to feel guilty and complain that we gave enough
and got less in return. Let us not be quiet to not let anyone know what we are going through, when we feel less loved, wanted or valued by someone. If we have it all to give, we also have it all to ask."

While I reading the poems and lines, it was an art of work. So it takes a lot of time to read and we can't complete the book in a one sitting. But once you started to read, you'll fall in love with this book.

#TrueBeing is a rare book which has three themes i.e. Love, Life and Relationship. It has poems on almost every human emotion which makes one bound to be connected. Along with the poems, it has many beautiful illustrations and several musings too, each of them greater than the other.

Out of the 3 themes, several poems and musings, it would be injustice to pick out any favourites but talking an advantage, if I may so, my personal favourite has to be Life. It has a collection of some very well articulated poems based upon life. *Fancy my soul* being my favourite, talks about as to why we need to find someone who connects with us and cares genuinely for us.

With a simple form of writing, the author well connected with the readers too. All in all, it was a superb read.

Love and relationships are very vital part of our lives. And without any of it, our lives will be completely bland. And this book #truebeing discusses these three themes i.e., love, life and relationships.

This book consists of poems and musings which one can't read without going in a thoughtful state. It has many beautiful illustrations and pictures which enhances the mood of the reader.
The book is written in a very lucid manner and one can read it without any difficulty. As author has prior mentioned, somewhere, even I felt the same that this book is not the one you have to read in a single sitting. The book itself won't allow you to complete it in one go. It needs time and space to get absorbed.
This book is an absolute bliss for beginners and can strike the perfect chord with anyone as we all have been through these phases.

The part of love and relationships is a bit corny, this is the only thing which I disliked about the book. It could be much more interesting. Both the parts are written very well but for the readers who have read so much, I think this will not work out for them. Or maybe it will. But i personally feel like that.

In a nutshell I'll definitely recommend this to everyone because it is easy to connect and written very beautifully.
