Just finished the book Build an Empire by Elena Cardone. Had some great takeaways and perspectives that I appreciated.
One exercise that I really liked, and am in the process of doing with my wife, is a unique goals sheet. In chapter 5 she suggests with your partner divide a paper into three different parts. Each of you writes your goals on the opposite side of the paper and then in the middle put your couple goals. For some this may mean that you are discussing for the first time in a while what those goals should be. This is also a time to evaluate if the individual goals either of you have is taking away from the goals you have as a couple.
Nebūtinai prie kompo :) Jos požiūris įkvepiantis, man patiko.
The exercises at the end of each chapter were great. I feel like it could have been condensed to half it's size and be just as effective if she got rid of the "smoke and mirrors" and big, dramatic talk around the main message she was trying to get across. Did not agree with all of her opinions but it was nice to see someone else's perspective.
I absolutely loved Elena’s mindset. She is so real and raw. The relationship that her and Grant have is admirable and has taken A LOT of work and has paid off in dividends. This is a book that I would recommend all my GFs read, single or married. #goals!
I'm rating this a 3.5. I liked it enough but I feel like I would've liked it much more in a print copy rather than the audio book.
Here are my pros and cons:
Pros - I liked that she had a different outlook on the spouse/partner dynamic. She still very much shared a strong woman aspect, but showed how even a "helping" role was valuable and important, and didn't make you any less powerful.
I took a good amount of notes, and there's no doubt that Elena is a powerhouse. I love her drive, and the vulnerability that she showed in where she started to where she's at now.
The content itself was good.
Cons - The recording was wonky. It needs a bit more editing:
There were times when it repeated. I thought I imagined it the first time it happened, but then it happened again, and I realized it was the recording itself.
You could hear a lot of background noise at times.
There were a few times when it almost sounded like some words were recorded separate and added in. The tone/volume of a word just didn't sound like it flowed with the rest of the recording.
I was enjoying the content and then out of nowhere in one of the chapters towards the end, it seemed like a plug or commercial for Grant. Not that it's a bad thing to share the info because I imagine a ton of people could benefit from that, but IMO it seemed a bit out of place to do it in the midst of the book.
**** All in all I think it would've been more enjoyable for me to have had the physical book rather than listen to the audible, since most of my cons above wouldn't apply to the hardcopy.
I listened to this book on audio. The editing is pretty sketchy. However, the author reads it and she treats the experience more like a conversation or podcast, which adds to the relatability. When she says empire, the reader needs to translate that into their own life. We may not all be interested in billions and the work it takes to do that, but if you are going to get anything out of this book you need to be interested in excellence and definitely better than what you’ve currently got going on. this book is really a guide into how to treat your spouse and be a better person to those around you. There is much to gain from reading it
Oh. My. Gosh! I didnt anticipate how much I'd love and relate to this book. I've read 2 of Grant Cardones books at the request of my husband. I enjoyed them, took a lot out of them, but also was unsure what I thought of HIM. He speaks A LOT about business and money which is hard to relate to when your main role is children, the house, and keeping peace in your home.
His wife speaks my language. In a world that preaches to be a "strong & independent woman" we lose sight of the significance of strong marriages.
She spoke of other relationships, such as friends & keeping your tight circle small. This book was great and really got my mind turning regarding my friendships, family, my marriage, ALL OF IT.
Side note: I have a husband with a mindset of Grant which helps a lot in relating to his wife. I see this not resonating with everyone due to that.
I have taken several Grant Cardone courses so this made me curious to learn more of the woman beside/behind the man. Elena Cardone is definitely her own woman, in part by her choice of a mate who encourages that freedom and growth. This is part autobiography, part self-help on how to be the best mate/support one could be in building real wealth.
She talks about all aspects of personal life, being a wife and mother--and how to protect all of it with great tips and quizzes to help you see where you are in your own life, who your tribe is and how much attitude and mindset brings you what you want in life. An easy, quick read. You might want to save it to read again and re-evaluate yourself at a later date.
I enjoyed this book. I got this book wanting to learn more about Elena and what she had to say about building success. Not only did I get that, I also got to see the mindset of the Cardones and how they came to be where they are now. Much respect to the Cardones for what they have achieved in all areas. The exercises in this book can be thought provoking and revealing about yourself and as a couple. I look forward to doing them with my wife after she reads this book. Now it’s time to 10X and the next book I am reading is Sell or Be Sold!
DNF I read this book on a recommendation, but could not get past the final quarter. I can appreciate that this style of writing or motivational talk is helpful for some, but for me it just felt like nauseating boss babe rhetoric tied in different packaging. I also really don’t agree with the amount of back bending and effort put into fluffing up a male’s ego
After reading the first 20 pages, I thought there was no way I could 1. finish the book and 2. give the book more than 1 star simply because of how many typos, grammatical errors, and misspelled words there were. Despite these painfully obvious mistakes, I pushed through reading the book and found that I surprisingly enjoyed most of the content.
First class. Top notch! An excellent read offering advice on marriage, partnership, and building an empire. Also, a courageous story of how a healthy, and an abundant dose of self-love can lead to self-respect and self-success. Elena Cardone is my newest shero!
Elena Cardone is a freaking powerhouse and I loved this book! Perfect timing in my life to read this - it cleared my head of all the BS going on in my background and pulled me out of the mindset I was in. Inspiring read as an entrepreneur and a wife!
(Audiobook version) Probably the best book I’ve read on what it truly means to be a woman of value and how to build something that’ll last. Elena made me feel normal like the things I’m asking for I am worthy of having 🤷🏽♀️
This is a very easy book with great principles of working together as a couple to achieve your goals. She defines the different roles Man and Woman take in the empire. Enjoyed it !
I have read this book several times. It is fantastic! Im a huge Elena Cardone fan and this is a different type of “self help” and really could be a life changer.
