Having fought attempts to turn her into a mini-me popstarlett in book 1, Holly finds herself subjected to her mother's egomaniac schemes once again. Plucked from life and friends in London, Holly is transplanted to a 'designer' but far-from-homely penthouse in New York (the convenient epicentre for her mother's music tour). Holly is not impressed. But then when she starts to take stock of her situation, Holly realises it may not be as entirely awful as she first she'll be able to see more of her dad who also lives in Manhattan, it should (officially) be the start of the summer holidays, and there's always a chance that teenage boys in New York will be more enlightened to her charms than boys in England...If she can find a way to get rid of her personal tutor, give her bodyguard the slip, and keep her mother from coming up with any new crazy schemes in the immediate future (no easy job), then maybe things could even start to be fun...
Love this series, in this book we follow Hollywood as she (follows!) her mother to America as she's "done" London and it's time for a fresh scene.
We get to meet Holly's father along with a return of several characters from the first book including her mothers on again/off again boyfriend Oliver Bream and his horrid son Shug (ugh!)
This book is a lot of fun and I used to read it a lot when I was younger, so it was nice to have a re-read and I'm sure I'll re-read it again in the future.
Title: Hollywood Bliss :: My life so far Author: Chloe Rayban Copyright date: 2007 Publisher: Bloomsbury children's books How many pages: 288 pgs How long it took me to read: 3 days Category: Fiction I learned about this book from: stumbling on it at the library
This book was purchased at: it wasn't. I borrowed it from the library. This book is: how I wish my life was Other books by these authors: Drama Queen, Watching you watching me, Terminal chic, Love in cyberia, Hollywood Bliss books. Favorite characters: Hollywood Bliss, Shug and Kandhi When and Where the story takes place: New York, Los Angeles, Rome, Kandhiki Plot in a nutshell: Hollywood Bliss is Kandhi's (a huge popstar) daughter. This journal follows her travels during a busy time in her Mom's life. Main characters: Hollywood Bliss Winterman, Kandhi, Oliver, Shug What I liked best: Her Mom's real name is Candice. Although it's not spelt the same way, I have never read a book about someone with my name before. Go team Candypants! What I liked least: I haven't read the first book - because I didn't know there was one - and I kind of got lost in some bits because of it.
Overall rating: It helped subside my wishes to be famous for just a little...now I want to be more than before. :P
This book delighted me, much as the first one did. Hollywood Bliss's mother is a Madonna/Britney Spears-ish mega-popstar, dragging Holly along for the ride as she jetsets around, redifining her image, coming up with new and bizarre philosophies and diets. In this one, they are in New York where Holly's dad lives. Also a musician, he wrote her mum's first hits, and hasn't done a whole lot since she left him. He lives in a loft with a lot of random artist squatters, and rarely leaves. Holly's solution is to buy him a really large dog that needs to be walked a lot . . . I enjoyed the character of the dog, and her father, and the new complications that arise in her life. It amuses me that, although at fourteen her judgement isn't always that great, she's often the voice of reason in her parents' lives.

This book is: My dream! Other books by these authors: Hollywood Bliss books. Favorite characters: Hollywood Bliss, Shug and Kandhi Plot in a nutshell: Hollywood Bliss is overwhelmed by Kandhi's (a huge popstar and her Mum)life taking over hers. This journal follows her travels during a busy time in her Mom's life. Main characters: Hollywood Bliss Winterman, Kandhi, Oliver, Shug What I liked best: Her eleborate relationships with the different characters in the book. What I liked least: I haven't read the first book so I didn't understand a few bit e.g. the reason for her best friend's desire for an expensive violin
An awesome book about a girl (Hollywood) who's mother is the ultra popular superstar sensation Kahndi. It's a day-by-day, play-by-play account of her life. Her mother is gtting married to another star, who she was previously engaged with but broke off the engagement, and her stepbrother-to-be is her WORST enemy. Will she EVER survive this unbelievably bad life?
