Nicole York is a woman that loves the thrill of suspense. Whether that be flipping upside down on a roller coaster or sitting on the edge of her seat watching the latest thriller movie, she’s all in. If you see the sports car on the freeway flying by you, take a pic, because you probably just saw her!!
She is the one that always figures out the plot in the movie and comes up with the ending that no one else ever saw coming. It just serves her right that now in the books she writes sometimes the characters take the book a direction the author had not planned on.
This was a pretty good read although it reminded me of another book that I read. Jenna is just trying g to make it on her own, without the help of her family's money. She works at a coffee shop where she sees Nate is a bad boy and she totally lusts after him. Nate has been going to the coffee shop for a year now because of the beautiful woman that works there he thinks he's not good enough for her. Nate is a mafia guy who is working with Ashley she married rich guys and kills them for money. Turns out Jenna's dad is the DA and when her brother ends up dead Jenna knows gold-digging Ashley is behind it. What she doesn't know is Nate has something to do with it. Nate had no idea that Jenna is the sister of Ashley's husband and her father is the DA. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
This is truly a dark romance that starts off a little slow. Once it gets going it's full of lots of suspense and drama. Jenna and Nate are captivating characters who will lead you on a steamy ride. Opposites in so many ways but their chemistry is explosive. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
Jenna is just trying g to make it on her own, without the help of her family's money. She works at a coffee shop where she sees Nate, a bad boy, that she totally lusts after. Nate has been going to the coffee shop for a year now because of the beautiful woman that works there named Jenna and he thinks he's not good enough for her. While these two deny what could be between them, Nate is working behind the scenes helping a childhood friend of his screw over her latest husband. Little do Jenna and Nate know but their lives are more intertwined than they could ever imagine. This is a very sexy, steamy read that is also suspenseful and a little on the dark side, but oh so wonderful to read. Definitely recommend this book as a must read!
Not a bad storyline but I did have some difficulty with connecting with the random acts of sex. There were times the sex scenes could have been left out of the story and no harm would have been done to the bottom line.
What is up with this? I've read the same, exact (and I do mean exact) story under three different author names. (I checked my KU history to prove I wasn't losing it) While I enjoyed the story the first two times, the third was overkill. This is the second time I've encountered this. Are we supposed to pay two or three times for the SAME freaking book? If you've read about Nate and his f-buddy Ashley running scams on rich men before, this is the same story. He falls for Jenna, the chick whose brother is married to Ashley (she marries rich men, Nate kills them). Jenna's dad is the DA and when her brother ends up dead Jenna knows gold-digging Ashley is behind it. What she doesn't know is Nate has something to do with it. Nate had no idea that Jenna, the husband and DA are related. Sound familiar? Then skip unless you willingly want to read it again. It's a decent story and I remember wondering how the author (whoever it was that REALLY wrote this) would work everything out for a HEA. Nate starts out skeevy, but I hoped he would turn into a somewhat decent dude. Given his background, it kind of happens. He wants a legit life with Jenna and they get it. Since this is my third go round, nothing seems changed from the first two exact reads. So, I'm gonna ask again....what is going on?
As a fan of truly dark romance, I wouldn't consider this book dark in the traditional sense. The darkness is in the hearts of a morally bankrupt group of self serving, uncaring individuals who put their wants and needs above anyone else. Ashley, with Nate's help, marries and does away with men for financial gain, with no regard for the families left behind. Nate is attracted to Jenna, not knowing her brother is his and Ashley latest mark. I really liked the overall premise of the book, I just had a really hard time liking Nate. As the H in his story, he wasn't terribly likable or redeemably until 70% into the book. Jenna was determined to find out what happened to her brother, with or without Nate's help. I almost liked Eric better, he was exactly what he was and not hiding it from anyone. So this book gets a 4 stars fro storyline, but 2 and 3 for execution and character development. I am voluntarily reviewing an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Nate works within the mafia and he is on a job when he meets Jenna. Jenna is innocent, pure everything Nate isn't but there is something that draws him to her. Her father is the DA of NY which makes it tricky being around her. Jenna has no clue what Nate's works is and when she does learns its way too late because she in deep with him. How much trouble will Nate bring down on Jenna? Can her dad help?
This is a great story that will draw you into the dark love story and captivate you through to the end. The chemistry between them is scorching hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.
This book was a comedy of errors in the sexiest way imaginable. One of the best examples of "what's the worst that could happen?" that I've read in a long time. It's dark, and passionate, and violent, and sexy, and bad in every way that's good but it still has moments that are so sweet and funny. I loved the relationships between the characters: the friendships, the family bonds, those lifelong friendships that make you as close as family. The chemistry between Jenna and Nate scorches off the pages and whatever is brewing between Grace and Erik looks like a sequel to me. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
A good read that will keep you entertained throughout. Nate and Ashley have grown up together and it hasn't been easy. They have plans to become rich by Ashley marrying rich men and then Nate killing them. When it's time to kill Ashley's new husband, things go a bit awry when he meets Jenna who he doesn't know is the husbands sister. If Nate has to pick between these two woman, who will he choose?? Will they go through with this latest kill? Can someone like him fall in love with a good girl? You'll have to read the book to find out.
It’s dark so bring a flashlight. Dark Obsession by author Nicole York is dark and erotic. I didn’t like all the characters as I found a few of them a little cartoonist for my liking and the verbiage as well. For the most part the main characters, Jenna and Nate had good chemistry, which helped them thru their obstacles and in the end, getting their HEA. I am unassumingly leaving a review of this book for your consideration.
Wrong is wrong is wrong. What happened to crime & punishment? There's no getting around it. No moral compass in this book. Ashley was everyone's scapegoat. All the sex with multiple partners and no thought to protect against std's etc. It's like no consequences to your actions if you choose to ignore them. Life goes on and all is well with the world. This was stupid.
OMG - I totally loved this book. The plot was awesome and totally different. The storyline flowed smoothly throughout. The characters were well-developed and easily relatable. Lots of twist and turns. There for awhile I thinking it was going to be a cliffhanger.....I was hooked from the very beginning. The chemistry between Nate and Jenna was off the charts! I loved them together. I do hope we get to read Erik and Grace's story soon!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book...
So this was a free ARC copy for my honest voluntary review of this book.So this was I believe the first time reading for this author and it was a good read.At first it took me a little bit to get into it, but after that it's a goid steamy read.Has a good storyline and good characters ti read about, plus was steamy.
This one took me a while to get into it, but once I did it was hard to put down. It's definitely a dark romance, in many ways. Nate and Jenna have complicated relationship to say the least. She is the pure thing he wants in his life and he is the bad boy she can't resist. This is full of twists, suspense, passion and at heart is a love story.
This read is a bit dark but intriguing. Nate and his friend Mark are working a scheme that will pay off big time. Nate falls for Jenna whose father is the DA of New York. What will happen when Jenna finds out who and what Nate really is. This is a fast-paced read with loads of twists and turns. I really enjoyed the characters and the story draws you in. A good read.
An enjoyable read that is well written with nice storyline and plot. Likeable characters. I did find that it lacked on the dark side because it was not the kind of dark romance that I had thought it would be. Apart from that the story is really enjoyable and easy to read. It is a mix of lust, love, secrets, lies, deception and twists. Recommendable.
I rounded out to 4 stars but it’s more like a 3.7 star read. There is a lot to like with this story if you’re into dark, anti-hero, low morales type of characters. There where just some aspects a tad cheesy that marred it.
A very dark romance. Sexy and violent. I loved this story. Had a lot of drama and suspense as well as great, interesting characters. Probably not to everyone's taste but I thought it was great.
Jenna rejects the money and power associated with her family. She goes it on her own. Nate is a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Somehow they get involved with each other. But the past and secrets arise. Can their relationship survive?
All I can say is wtf... this book was so strange... the ending was rushed and not all issues were discussed or resolved just kind of swept under the rug
A good read for people who are in to the series recommended highly a enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next of the series
The h was an idiot. I want to hate the H because he was, in my eyes unredeemable, but it just makes me think the h was a huge dumbass because she kept going back to him!
The book had mean so intense it was like I was watching it live Love this author It be great if I could read book 2 But author doesn’t have next read somehow
