Thorn .... The Uncommon Enemies #4 is the first book I've read in this series from Fiona Quinn. Although I have had the honor of reading her books from other series, this one is no different. The story is told with the skillfulness from a brilliant, complex and detail oriented mindset. This is a spin off from Ms. Quinn's Lynx series.
A very technical and complex story-line, Thorn keeps the reader engrossed with just enough intrigue to entice the reader. As an operative for the Iniquus organization, Thorn and his associates are challenged with the job of finding and helping people in dire situations. He is ordered to rescue Dr. David DuBois; but in turn, he ends up seeking out the rescue of Dr. DuBois's daughter, Juliette instead.
Read this dynamic book that uncovers one twist after another, as Thorn and his associates seek the answers as to Juliette's whereabouts. He unwittingly discovers that she was kidnapped and brainwashed into believing her present day situation. Not only does Thorn uncover the fact that she was kidnapped, but with the help of his team, the violent and aggression manner in which she was taken is also uncovered.
Will Thorn be able to save Juliette from her captors in time? If he does, what will happen to Juliette if she begins to remember the events of the abduction? Read this story to discover the answers for yourself. I promise that you will be taken on the ride of your life. I was afforded an advanced reader copy by the author and I chose to voluntarily leave this review.

The Panthers find their feisty, challenging, smart other halves
I read all three of these books individually with KU, then bought the sets because I couldn't get them out of my head. Zoe and Gage - Action from the word go with Gage saving her in her apartment from a kidnapping. Zoe is a DARPA scientist being harassed by internal American governmental rogues to created something against her principles. And the rogues Don't play nice. Honey and Meg - Honey just finished a tough hostage negotiation when his partner Randy gets a call from his sister Meg. Come over to Tanzania and so some hiking and relax for a few days. OK they go, but notice a tail in both airports. Then, there's something going on with Meg's Sustainability Conference - and the guys are hiking, but back on the clock. A terrorist threat, all the scientists segregated, lots of confusion, but a couple of cool heads make a difference. Thorn and Juliette/Anya - Juliette flies into France , expecting to put new memories to the pictures in her head. But things don't go as expected, then her Grandmother won't agree to see her, saying she has no grandchildren. But a car pulls up, two men speaking Russian with guys Force her in and she's frozen, both in fear and because she has a 'real' memory of them - and its not good. Iniquus is given a job of finding her father, who arrived at us mother's house minutes after Juliette was taken and getting him back to the US. Turns out, Juliette should have been the one they helped. Dear old dad didn't want help and didn't want to go back home. That's because Juliette isn't. She's Dr. Anya Khouri and she's doesn't know it - yet. With the help of Iniquus, it starts to clear, and every deep more people are trying to grab her.
I really enjoyed the book. It has a good story line, and the characters were likable. However, a number of things bothered me.
1) There were many errors / typos in the book. I started highlighting these at some point. Conscious vs. conscience, the vs. they, etc. A good editor would have picked up on these issues.
2) There were also a number of inconsistencies among the different books in the series. For example, when the super-sound-weapon was first mentioned in one of the earlier books, it was going to kill all animals (including cold-blooded insects). But later, it was only going to kill warm-blooded mammals. Oops!
3) Some of the characters were scientists. But the science side of this book was NOT well thought-through. Yes, climate change is a global issue for many reasons. But there are so many confounding issues that makes climate change worse (or better) in different societies. It is fine if the author does not grasp or convey these intricacies in the book. But PLEASE DO NOT cast all blame for all wrongs in society on climate change.
4) There about twenty acronyms too many in this book. CIA and FBI are fine. But there was literally an acronym for every new government organisation introduced in the story. Really?
Without these errors / typos / inconsistencies / multibillion acronyms, the book would have scored 4. I enjoyed the book, but I won't read it again.
Thorn was amazing he really is the ultimate operator, completely focused and his mission comes first always, even when gorgeous women grab his eye he still puts the job first.
I loved how gripping this story was, the twists and turns kept me guessing and just when I thought the author was going in one direction she totally surprised me and I LOVE that.
I also loved the descriptive writing as I read I could fully picture where I was and what was happening this makes the book come completely alive for me and that makes an awesome story.
I am a huge fan of the author and can not wait for more from her.
Wasp was was intriguing and a little scar as to what everyone does in the name of being the most powerful country. It was great to get the background on Zoe and Gage is the man.
Deadlocked was more horrific, learning about the beliefs of the different ethnic groups from Africa as well as the evil land greed of mankind. I liked Meg and Honey. I spit out my water as Honey laughed hysterically over the call tag FUBAR.
Thorn, was not as awesome as I thought it would be, but provided plenty of intrigue, science, greed and multiple groups out for themselves. I liked having Honey and Gage being part of this as well as Lynx and Nutsbe.
This has been an interesting, complex, and suspenseful collection of stories that will hook you from the beginning. I really wish that the author had created the collections in the order that the stories were meant to be read, instead of by each individual series. It would have been much more enjoyable for the reader. Overall, this has been a fantastic collection that I believe everyone will love. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Fiona Quinn's writing is fast paced with plenty of action and intrigue. In this box set, the Iniquus heros are back in full force and flying to all corners of the world, risking their lives and the lives of their team to do whatever is necessary to save the lives of those they are assigned to protect. If you haven't read any of Fionna Quinn's writing, start here and then do what I did after I read my first book by her.....find all of the others she's written and read them too!
A cleverly woven series of good versus evil. A bit of science, a bit of romance, a bit of law enforcement procedure, military skills, politics, domestic and international, all carefully stirred together in a highly addictive series that is very difficult to put down. Damsels in distress who are strong, intelligent, and resourceful, and handsome male characters to complement these women in their difficult journeys. Excellent reading
This series is so enjoyable. It has great characters, intrigue, action, and always a romance. The author must do a lot of research, because these books have information on various countries and cultures that add flavor. Some of the dialogs in her books show such a deep understanding of the struggles of life. Very enjoyable series!
Lexi aka Lynx is really on edge trying to survive. Her fluffy bunny persona probably will not make it past trying to live long enough to beat the baddies and the storms without and within.
Some very well connected folks have some very bad intentions
Action packed and psychological thriller and romance
I liked all of these books. I have read most of the books revolving around Iniquis security and enjoyed them all. I only wish I would have read them in a more coherent order, especially when I read the kidnapping book in this series. My only objection is the abrupt endings to most of them. More resolution would be appreciated.
A well written series that will keep you involved with the characters throughout the entire storyline. Highly recommend this series to anyone who likes action with a little romance on the side.
This series will keep you up at night trying to finish each book. The special forces series is sexy, adrenaline driven and apropos to current issues! Enjoy!
Well written, the set kept me well entertained while I was recouping from four days of Playing, loving and chasing three very busy Grand babies! Can’t wait to sink down with a cup of coffee and devour the next set!
I stumbled upon Fiona Quinn recently and I have not been able to put down the many series (yes, series) I have devoured. I love that the men are strong alphas BUT the women are strong as well (and very very intelligent). No suffering fools. Bravo!
This sries is worth the time! Not only fastanating. but educational. The author has a large amount of unusual information incorporated in her novels. Well done.
These books are well written, full of action, romance, conspiracies, sci-fi, psychos, and twists. These are definitely possible plots. Makes a person wonder.
Another great set of stories by this author. Tactical, romance and a little psychic help make these stories intriguing. They read well and are easy to follow.
