Their Nerd

Antonio wants Justin, Justin wants Emily, and Emily would mind all of the above

As long as Antonio has Justin and the Silicon Valley start-up they built together, Antonio’s content to hide his true feelings. He’d rather keep Justin’s friendship than confess his love and lose everything.

But Justin’s gotten careless with their business.

The board of directors sends them Emily, a contract developer, to ensure their rules are being followed. Justin doesn’t expect her to be the one-night stand he played out the scorching fantasy with, of sharing her with Antonio.

As long hours and tight deadlines push the three closer together, they heat up keyboards and the sheets. If their private hookups become public knowledge, she’ll lose her job, they’ll lose their company, and the three will be torn apart before they discover if all of them can find happily-ever-after together.

For a book with “MMF” in the title, this one is pretty dull.
The smut you’d expect from a ménage is non-existent and there’s way too much focus on their jobs as app developers, that my head is spinning from all those technical details.
Everything is wrong with this one, starting with the story itself, the characters and all in between.

Disappointing

This book was advertised as a MMF book but the reason I bought the book was for the MM part which only happened once at 97% of the way through the book. I can't believe all the superb reviews. I even went back and read some of them when I was about a quarter of the way through because I thought maybe I dreamt the good ratings. I only finished this book because as my husband says I'm stubborn and I don't like to give up on something I've invested time in. The first 40% of this book was so boring but it eventually did improve by the end. Very seldom do I find a book that I have this much trouble getting interested in. It honestly gets better halfway through.

This is by far one of my favorite books from Allyson (definitely top 5). So much so I was reading this well into past midnight to get to the end (the fact I was having trouble sleeping and needed a good book to keep my company is irrelevant). The chemistry between Justin, Antonio, and Emily is absolutely fantastic. I found it well balanced and true. I could feel the attraction through the whole book instead of feeling like it was plopped in somewhere near the middle or at the end. I never once second guessed the strength of their attraction to each other, where in some MMF and MFM books I've questioned that. There's usually been a balance struggle, someone always caring about one person in the relationship a bit more than the other. In this book, I didn't feel that, even when Emily started letting her insecurities get the better of her and think she was just a third wheel that would be let go after her use was up.

Emily is sassy and smart, and even when faced with tough times, she knows how to stand her ground and not sacrifice who she is. Justin is headstrong and driven, sometimes a little too much so, but both Emily and Antonio keep him balanced and in line...when he doesn't push them away with his selfish mindset that comes up now and then. And Antonio...oh Antonio. I fell hard for this man. He's sweet, he's caring, he's hot and has the brains to match that heat. And did I mention he's Italian? Swoon alert! He also has the most adorable name for Emily in Italian. Double swoon.

The history between Justin and Antonio is interesting and heart-wrenching on many fronts. I was glad it got the happy ending it deserved, unlike so many relationships like it that I've seen in real life.

Much to my pleasure, this book is filled with quick sexy nights and long teasing days. The books takes place over the course of a few weeks and Allyson does well with the daily transitions, knowing when to skip days and make it clear, and when to make certain days important. Some of the sex scenes were skipped over, not a huge deal, but a bit disappointing. Not because I wanted the book to be filled with it, but because of the timing. The ones I was disappointed about, I thought were ones that were building their relationship the pair were denying for a good amount of time.

I was disappointed that Emily meeting Antonio's family was skipped over. Based on Antonio's sister's reception, and having married into an Italian family myself (yes, Antonio makes me swoon even though I have my own), that would have been a fantastic scene to see. Speaking of his sister...Tara needs a book! She didn't get a whole lot of book time, but my god do I love her. I want to learn more about her than I do Cindy.

And that leads me into my last part of my review. Cindy... She's supposed to be Emily's best friend but I never felt it. Even before their falling out. It's made known it's commonplace for Cindy to bail on Emily and then when shit hits the fan, she really shows her ugly side. Why did they have a falling out? Because she's a bitch and her brother, Paul. What a royal, entitled, ass. I really wanted a scene where Justin or Antonio (or both) punched hit lights out (i really hoped we'd get a scene when Emily was moving, but no dice). The fact that Cindy took his side and tried to force Emily to date him when she didn't want to, going as far as trying to shame her, was beyond wrong, and it reached a new level of bitch when Paul basically admitted he sabotaged Emily's career out of spite and called her a whore, both in front of Cindy, and she STILL took his side. I'm 100% glad Emily ditched them both, but it doesn't make me excited to know the next book is about Cindy. I'm getting the book, cause fan, but it's going to take me a lot of convincing to make me like her right now.

So, all-in-all, great book and a welcomed addition to my MMF collection. And, Allyson, if you read this, give Tara some loving that she desperately deserves!

My rating falls between 2.5-2.75 stars, so I rounded up. The premise for this MMF ménage sounded terrific! App developers who fall into a romance is my jam, but this didn't entirely work for me. Justin has secretly fantasized about his best friend Antonio FOREVER, but when Antonio admits he's in love with Justin, he denies it?! And they don't finally get frisky until like 95% of the book?! Emily was also meh for me. The whole portion with her best friend’s Cynthia’s brother Paul felt contrived. The work portion also overshadowed their connection as a throuple. I liked the geek speak incorporation, but IMO their jobs took away from the emotional stakes.

In the heart of Silicon Valley is a company founded by two nerds, Justine and Antonio. Their thoughts on how to run the company are not on the same wave length anymore. The board sends in Emily to get them on track. She's very professional and good at what she does in the business world, but shy in social settings. The attraction between the three heats up and they warm the sheets. They keep their situation private so they won't lose their company. Hot and sassy. A good read with geeky characters. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review.

Requires a lot of patience

Takes forever to get there. Then they break up and take forever to get back together. Antonio is called Andrew a few times. The love scenes are difficult to follow at times. Some of the movements seem impossible as they are described based on where and how the characters are arranged in the scene.

DNF at 59%. Coding is cool and all, but the subplot with the roommate’s brother was too unbelievable- I couldn’t suspend my disbelief enough to continue with the story.

While this book contains many of the typical elements of an MMF menage romance, it solidified my opinion that the menage stories I most enjoy are those in which each individual relationship evolves and has an arc as much as the overall trio does. In this instance, what starts as a sexy narrative to accompany a random hookup throws all three characters together when both parties to the hookup find themselves working together soon after. There’s no insta-love here: Emily develops friendships (and then more) with Justin and Antonio on individual levels, even aside from the sexy time they spend together as three. Meanwhile, Antonio’s long-time crush on his best friend Justin could verge on cliché, but as their shared history is revealed to the reader, that particular pairing develops naturally as well.

This book also features an excellent blend of how relationship conflict and external conflict can combine and enhance the story’s overall plot. I know barely anything about software engineering and development, but Lindt expresses concepts in layman’s terms that make it clear to the reader what the problems are. However, as sexy as the characters are together, it’s hard to forget the sheer unprofessionalism of everyone hooking up. I wanted them to all get their happily ever after together, but I also rolled my eyes a lot at their antics. Again, Lindt leans on real-world implications to create problems for her characters that they actually deserve, but we still get to cheer for how they find their way out of the holes they dig for themselves.

While I don’t adore everything Lindt writes, she is becoming one of my solid go-to authors for her romances. I encourage readers to give her a shot because chances are high that you’ll find something you’ll like from her extensive catalog.

I loved Antonio, but Justin and Emily were just okay characters. Antonio was perfectly sweet and loving, obviously the heart of the relationship, my heart was so full with him and the book ended that I just wanted more of him (and only him). Emily wasn't so bad either, but I couldn't connect with her. Justin, oh, Justin, with him there wasn't a connection that would make me judge him so badly. Since the beginning his choices were so selfish and impulsive, it not only could harmful for him but everyone and it seemed he couldn't care less.

What I didn't like was the way the story ran, I couldn't believe most of their decisions and choices (I also hated most of them). Everything just took so damn long to happen that there wasn't enough time to just enjoy them really together, all three, I'm mean it was supposed to be a mmf bisexual, unfortunately it was bisexual for maybe two scenes and it pissed me off. I think with the book was a little bit longer and we could see them together for a while more maybe, their relationship would feel stronger and honestly better.

AND WHAT WAS THE TECHNICAL TALK? It was impossible for someone that didn't have at least some sizeable knowledge about to understand and enjoy that part (and it wasn't a small part). Maybe someone who codes will be happy to read and understand, but for me it was something that recieved so much attention while their relationship was but in the second burner.
It kind of felt like the mother ignoring the kid drowning while looking to other kid.

With all that said, I would blindly read another book with them just so I could read Antonio again. The 2 stars are only for him.

📝 Workplace/Love Triangle/Friends-to-Lovers/ Secret Love Romance, Available on Kindle Unlimited; Bisexual Representation

Can I just say how excited I am to see more women in STEM represented in romance. There nothing better than a smart/capable female character. As much as I liked this representation, I wish that less focus was spent on the workplace day to day and more on the romance.

I think that one thing the author did amazingly well was writing in Emily’s BFF Cynthia into a villain. I honestly don’t remember the last time I disliked a character with such passion.

Honestly, this is an easy introduction into the MMF romance sub-genre, but probably isn’t enough for those that typically read them. I personally felt the M/M portion was a bit lacking and felt rushed at the end. I even rolled my eyes when Emily said she’d done things that would “make a Play Girl Editor blush” 🙄 This was actually pretty vanilla of a story.

Heat Factor: Definitely steamy, but not over the top

Character Chemistry: I was most invested in the relationship between Justin and Antonio, but Emily building relationships with the two men was probably actually better constructed

Plot: Silicon Valley + Let’s figure out this menage thing

Overall: Come for the menage, stay for the romance

Steamy & Fun!

This was such a great story! Their Nerd was so much more than just an office romance. Yes, there is an office and a relationship between boss and employee. But that is an oversimplification.

This is the story of Justin, Antonio, and Emily. Complex relationships are explored. Between Justin and Antonio. Between Justin and Emily. Between Emily and Antonio. Lust. Love. Work relationships. Friendships. Crushes. Unrequited feelings.

This story has it all. I loved it.

Not a bad story, but I got bored easily reading it.

One of the guys is bisexual and out, one of them is bi-for-him-only so that was the premise of the drama. Emotions aren’t really there until near the end and it’s mostly just angst over their relationship falling apart and yearning and oh-noes-gay-feelings and meh. Pacing is slow and there weren’t enough scenes with them together-together for any of the ‘will they won’t they???!?!?’ to matter enough.

slow & rushed

so here's the thing, the beginning was a bit slow, beyond the world building and character introductions, which were moderately good, the first half was not much to write home about. I love these characters, flaws and all, but the story progression did not help them one bit. the end was a bit rushed for my taste, we went from moving in together to loving each other in a flash. this book gets points for being mmf & having enjoyable characters but for nothing more.

Good book

Admitting you love someone is sometimes hard. When that person is the same sex it can be even harder. But when that person is your best friend and you can't imagine losing them, it becomes impossible. Or is it? Justin and Antonio face that with the help of Emily. But their journey isn't easy. Can you be in love with more than one person? I believe you can.

Have I mentioned how much I love reading high quality menage? And Allyson Lindt totally delivers! I almost read this story in one sitting. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The characters were engaging and interesting and their chemistry was off the charts! Do yourself a favour and check it out!

This is a beautiful story between 3 extremely smart people. Emily is the perfect heroine. And these two guys, Antonio the italian and Justin the American have such chemistry. They are best friends... they love one another... But Justin doesn't know what kind of love it really is.

Dive in and you will be rewarded with a page turner you won't want to put down.

Good Series

I enjoyed this pair of books, though there were aspects that seemed unlikely. The charity are interesting and have dimension. My only complaint - and it cost a star - is that there are editing errors, missing words and mistakes that knocked me out of the story. With a hard going over by a skilled editor, this would easily be a four-star novel.

This was a decent mmf romance novel. It did not get me hot and bothered like some I have read before, it was more tame imo. Something was missing, not quite sure what it was. This book did make me want to turn pages and I enjoyed the storyline, however not sure I will read the next as Cynthia did not leave a good impression on me from the story I would rather have read about Antonio's sister.

This book is a solid four stars. Even though this is a menage book that tends to lean more towards the erotica genre, I would say this book is more romantic than erotic. There's a well-developed plot. Solid characters that grow as the story progresses. Good banter among the main characters. The spicy scenes are hot (fans self)! Allyson Lindt is a gem in the Kindle Unlimited collection.

Let's be honest here: if you're reading a book about a MMF relationship, you *want* the threesome. You're here for the smut. This is where this book disappoints so much. It's nice to have a real relationship in the story and all, but when it turns into a big "he loves me, he loves me not" with absolutely no sexy times, then it's not worth my time, you know.

Well if you are looking for loads of mmf action, this is not the book for you. It eventually happens but the build for it is through most of the book. The story was a bit interesting for me coming from a software development background but there was a lot of emphasis on that job. Liked the characters thought but didn't always understand their motivations.

I enjoyed this MMF story.

Antonio and Justin having such a great friendship is what saves the relationship between Antonio, Justin, and Emily when things go haywire and outside forces conspire to ruin their tentative relationship.
This was a fun read and I liked all three of the main characters.

Great story

I liked this book for the story and characters, not just the steamy parts. It's nice to have confident, mature characters who deal with sticky situations well instead of angsty craziness.

I felt disconnected from the characters, and stopped reading by chapter 2. After a couple of days, I went back to it and tried to pick it back up, but just couldn't get into it, so I'm chalking it up to a no.

Their Nerd (Two Plus One #1) by Allyson Lindt – This is on kindle unlimited. TBF I am not a computer or a business nerd, so I did get hung up on the jargon. But business/computer programming bits seemed legit even if I zoned out a little. The end was fantastic though! Happy Reading!

Very realistic and sexy as hell! Love the way chance encounters, long-term friendships, and inability to voice feelings all played a part in this story.
