Caroline is the PR and Marketing Director for a successful matchmaking business named Graceful Matchmaking. Caroline has watched people find their Mr. and Mrs. Right for years, standing on the sidelines wishing for her own happily ever after.
For years, the owner Grace has wanted to introduce Caroline to her son Daniel, but she's refrained because of her husband Christopher's caution. With a chance meeting at the Wright's house, will sparks fly?
A.M. Williams is just a simple girl from the south that found herself living abroad. When she’s not annoying her cat or reading, she’s spending time with her husband and traveling as much as possible. She has a serious case of wanderlust and wants to go as many places as possible while she can. She loves Cheerwine, sweet tea, and North Carolina (eastern style) BBQ as well as those crystal clear waters on the North Carolina coast.
I believe this is a debut published novel by the author. I usually wait a couple days after reading a book to review, I use that time to absorb the novels words, characters, and what I truly feel about the story being told. However, I didn’t have to do that with this one. I read this story when it was a fanfiction based on a very popular trilogy turned movie. I was hoping for more with the transition from fanfic to an original published story.
The story itself is sweet. Caroline, a twenty-five yearold, works for a matchmaker in her PR department, and one day meets her boss’ son, Nicholas. They catch each other’s attention rather quickly, Nicholas attempts to woo her, however, Caroline keeps her guard up. One, because of her past with an ex-boyfriend, and two, she doesn’t want to blur the line between her professional and personal life. However, conversations between her and her best friend, Allison, the persistent Nicholas, and a somewhat meddling mom/boss, makes Caroline take the leap and give Nicholas a chance.
With that being said, the story, to me, is a published fanfiction story with tons of similarities to the original novels it was based off of. The author did not take the time to change basic setting, characteristics of characters, and some names of minor characters (Grace, Nicholas’ mother. Sawyer, a CPO for Caroline. Hannah, a secretary for Caroline).
Now onto the drama of the book, Caroline’s ex boyfriend, Chad, reappears after spending quite so little time to jail for a crime he committed when the two were in college and living together. He turns up to one of Caroline’s work events, unbeknownst to him she would even be there. From then, he suddenly becomes obsessed with her, following her and learning her patterns. All of a sudden he is “unhinged” and sets up an appointment to see her at work and pulls a gun on her. I understand the need of drama, a climax to the story, however, this particular situation seemed to be just thrown in there. The outcome was that she was saved from him, by Nicolas and their CPOs and after situation was the first time the “I love yous” was stated.
Like explained before, the story is sweet and watching Nicholas and Caroline’s relationship go from the early stages of being shy around one another to full on being in a loving relationship was nice to see. However, I wish the author didn’t rush for it to be published and really took the time to make it her own. There are plenty of other cities for fortune-500 companies to be established, other high end luxury penthouses to live in and cars to drive, and definitely different features of characters to use.

Very enjoyable read. Caroline and Daniel have chemistry and it’s interesting to see their relationship develop over the course of the story. Some interesting side relationships are included that could be a good story as well.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Well written, great story line. Love the characters. I love watching their love story blossom. A very down to earth story. Hope to see more from A.M. Williams soon.
Caroline is interested in her boss’s son Daniel. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and everyone can see it. Daniel isn’t your typical Hero. He’s kind of shy and awkward at first but towards the end we get to see more of his Alpha side. This definitely has a Fifty Shades of Grey feel to it, minus the red room. So if your a fan of that book than you’ll definitely want to check out this one.
I’m not going to rate this story because I only received the sample copy on Amazon. But I’m clearing not finishing the story. #dnf
Unfortunately being a novella (only 67pp) and a novice/debut indie author I was expecting the price to be less than $3.99. Even $1.99 or $2.99 would be more reasonably priced.
The sample didn’t grab me unfortunately.
Poor editing, too closely related to the original fanfiction fandom, such as similar names, places, events, and subplot.
It wasn’t engaging since the story was being told to me... I wanted to be shown, give me the senses. I needed some emotion thrown in!
I think with a good restructure, editing/beta team this plot could become a good foundation and hence an overall better novella (or possibly with more material a full length novel).
I wish this indie author all the best and don’t let this review determine your opinion. Give it a go.
