Okay wow, where do I start?

The author is not kidding when she says this book is packed, and I mean packed with raw emotions, it will make you want to cry and laugh all at once and almost at every chapter.

This was definitely a lot harder to read than Over the Falls, mainly because of the characters' past and what they have grown through.

Savannah, a young girl loses her mother to cancer at a young age, and has had to take the mother role in the family. Worse, who best friend is in the coma, she has two younger siblings to look out for, and she needs to get over her ex-boyfriend Aiden, who has moved on real quick with Harley. But what annoys Savvy is that she is happy for Aiden and Harely, they are perfect, looks like they're in love, and she wants that.
What she doesn't know is a certain and mysterious guy with dreadlocks will capture her attention.

Griffin is a man full of mystery and secrets, but as we learn bit by bit with his story and his past, it's frightening and I really feel for him. He wants to be with Savvy, wants to hold her and cherish her, but he knows he can't get close because of his past. He knows he must go but Ryder Bay feels like home, worse now that he has met Savvy and can't control how he feels for her.

And the more they get to know one another, the harder it is for both of them to stay away. But will Griffin's past catch up with him and force him to turn away from every happiness he feels?

There's so much drama and emotion in this sequel, it's hard to not finish this without getting teary and angry so often.
But what I love the most is the character development. In the first novel, Savannah was shy and quiet. Kept to herself and was always following her best friend. But now that the spotlight is on her, she has the stage to herself, she didn't know what to do. But now. Because of this experience, she has opened up herself more, she is not always shy, she is loud and feisty, confident and as always way mature for her age.

And Griffin, he is also someone who has changed dramatically too, he is honest and caring, strong and capable, and he is honourable and respectful always.

The characters from Ryder Bay are wonderful people, most are and some need a little more help, like Savannah's best friend Skylar

And for that I cannot wait to read more!

Received a copy from the author herself, for an honest review, thank you!

*Thank you to the author for gifting me with an ARC of this book!*

Ok, wow, where to start.
This was such a great read, the story felt so wholesome, so good. I absolutely loved Griffin, he is sweet, respectful, protective. What more could you ask in a boyfriend. He was such a good choice for Sav, she deserves happiness and they make a perfect couple.
I am so grateful I've got to read this so soon because I read the first book when it came out and I really needed this. I had it on pre-order already but it made my day that I could put my hands on it before the publishing date.
I will say that this is perfect young adult read, very clean and well written. Aside from some small drama nothing major happens, we just see our beloved characters grow into themselves and preparing for adulthood. I recommend this to teens wholeheartedly.
And what I loved the most were the relationships between the characters. There will be the most unlikely friendships formed and you will be so happy for them, you just can't help it.
Now I really want to read Sky's story, I bet it will be soooo good.

The Impact Zone is the second book in Jordan Ford's Ryder Bay series and I think I found myself falling even more in love with the author's brilliant storytelling ability. This was a beautifully written and unique tale that wholeheartedly captivated my heart and left me absolutely breathless as I devoured page after page!

Savannah and Griffin's story took us on an emotional journey full of heartbreaking moments that will stop you right in your tracks. They are two beautiful souls that have lost their way and find themselves again in each other. Savannah is a bit of a wallflower who is trying to cope after the accident of her best friend while Griffin is a nomad who is trying to escape his haunting past. Slowly a romance begins to form and life as they knew it will be forever changed.

This was an abso-freaking-lutely amazing story that had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. It was impossible to put this one down and now I am eagerly anticipating the final book in the series, Face of the Wave. I cannot wait to see what Skylar's story has to hold!

The Impact Zone is the second book in the Ryder Bay series, and whilst I enjoyed my foray back to Ryder Bay, I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the first book... and I don't really know why!

Skylar is still in a coma, and Savannah is drowning in responsibilities. You find out more about Aiden and their break up through Savannah's eyes, including how she becomes friends with Harley. Savannah is a genuinely nice person, and very mature for her age as life experiences haven't always been easy. Griffin is the perfect match for her, but he isn't sure if he will stay in Ryder Bay or not, due to his own story.

With Aiden, Harley, and even Jed, playing a part in this story, I couldn't help but relax and enjoy as the story moved along. This did feel like a transitional book though, and I think that's why I didn't enjoy it as much. Griffin and Savannah get their HFN, but you are left with a major event happening right at the end, which may impact on just who Savannah is exactly.

I still thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to continue the series AND see how the characters continue to change and grow. I really want them to all be happy, but with some of the darker characters still in play, this isn't guaranteed! Excellent writing once again, and I'm left wanting more.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it

I really enjoyed Over The falls, the first book in this series and I excitedly started reading The Impact Zone. The Impact Zone is a great sequel and I like how it has a different couple, but also continues certain plot lines from book 1. I didn't enjoy it as much as book 1, but I still had a great time reading this and I was happy I got to return to Ryder Bay. It's interesting how this story starts a bit before the end of book 1 so you get to see some parts again from a different point of view now.

The Impact Zone follows the story of Savannah and Griffin. Savannah is the ex from the male main character in book 1 and at the start of this book she is missing him and would like to get him back, but then she slowly sees his new girlfriend is great for him and she finds love elsewhere. In book 1 I already said I was happy the author didn't villainize Savannah and that makes sense knowing that she was the main character of book 2.

In The Impact Zone we see how Savannah struggles a bit with how she lost Aidan and now he has moved on and she isn't sure what to do. Her best friend lies in the hospital and she is a bit lost. I liked seeing how she dealt with everything thrown her way. She really is a good person, putting aside her own feeling to help others. She always was a tad too perfect at times, but she does have her struggles too. I especially liked how she reached out to Harley in this book and they form a tentative friendship. I didn't feel her love for surfing as much as I experienced in book 1 with Harley, but it was fun to see the surfing theme continue, although it was a less prominent part here.

Then there is Griffin and while I liked him, I think he's the reason I didn't fully enjoy this book as much as book 1. He seemed like a great guy, but he just wasn't as interesting to read about. He has a bit of a sad backstory and he is wondering whether to leave Rydar Bay and that's basically what a lot of his point of view is about. He loves it here and wants to stay, he has a great job and is falling for Savannah, but he knows he might have to move on. There was no progression for a long time and it just felt a tad repetitive. Then at the end things finally change and it almost seemed to easy, especially knowing how he has been struggling with this for the whole book without progression. And I didn't get why he never looked into his options. I also am not a whole fun of the will he stay or not plot line in general.

Griffin and Savannah are both quite mature for their age with what they have gone through. I thought it was great to see how they dealt with things, but at times they did behave a bit unlike teenager for that reason, there were a few moment I thought a teenager would never do or say that. But as they are quite mature it does sort of make sense.

Griffin and Savannah made for a great couple and while I didn't feel their romance as much as Aidan and Savannah, their romance did grow on me and it was obvious they cared about each other a lot. I liked the way the author described the giddy feeling Savannah had when she starts falling for Griffin.

I love the continuity in this series so far. There are plot lines and characters that got introduced in book 1 that play a role in book 2 as well and I liked seeing those plot lines continue. There are also side characters that stay more to the side in book 1 that we get to see more of here. And other side characters that we see from another side in this book. And I was happy we still got to read about Aidan and Harley even tough they aren't the main characters and we see how they're doing too. Then there is the plot line surrounding Skylar that seems to continue too and I think she will be the main character for book 3.

To summarize: I was happy to return to Rydar Bay in this second book of the series. There is another couple that becomes the main focus, but the series has a lot of continuity so far and storylines and character from book 1 continue and return here. I liked Savannah she was such a nice character who helped others even at the cost of herself. I liked reading about her, although she was almost too perfect at times, we see how she struggles with things as well. Griffin was a nice enough character, but I wasn't as interested in his plot line/ backstory. It felt like it got a bit repetitive and didn't continue much over the course of the book, until at the end it does and it seems almost too easy how it gets solved. Griffin and Savannah made for a great couple and I was happy to see a bit of Aidan and Harley as well in this book. All in all it was a great sequel and I am looking forward to book 3!

Where to start. This is book two in the Ryder Bay series and follows Savannah a.k.a. Savvy and Griffin.

Savannah has had a lot on her plate the last couple of days, starting with her breaking up with Aiden, to her best friend Sklyar falling into the water, ultimately ending with Sklyar suffering a head injury leading to her coma. Griffin is a nomad surfer running from his past. He starts to have feelings for Savannah but keeps telling himself he is not allowed to because by the end of the summer he will be gone again off to somewhere new.

Savannah’s dad, Dr. Kevin, tells her she needs a summer hobby that will get her out of the house and away from being “mom” to her two younger siblings and that she’s not allowed to sit at the hospital everyday waiting on Skylar to wake up. After debating about what she would enjoy, she lands on surfing. Harley is the only surfer she knows, Savannah finally get the courage and asks her to teach her.

Griffin spots Savannah about to go surfing by herself one evening and stops to explain why it’s not safe to go surfing alone-especially at night.  He offers to join her and they surf and hang out for a while, ending their night with a steamy kiss. Griffin follows this kiss by giving her the cold shoulder. He finally gets the nerve to call and apologize to her, only to find out something has happened to Harley and she had broken up with Aiden via text with no warning whatsoever.

They finally get to go on that first date, and what better date than grabbing burgers and going to an overlook of the beach while sitting in the back of his truck watching the sun set.

The next day, while Savannah is out buying groceries, she runs into Craig, who is Skylar’s on-again off-again. He tells her that his dad thinks she was pushed and a witness even came by and told him it was a man with dreads. Thinking of Griffin, Savannah tries to find him and after driving around forever she gives up. When she gets home, she finds him sitting on the curb by her mailbox. Since her dad is gone for the evening, she invites him inside and they fall asleep on the couch. They’re woken by her dad coming in, slamming doors and yelling at them. After Griffin leaves, Savannah and her dad get into a fight. The next day, she stays in bed all day and when her dad gets home they go on a walk to talk and work through things. While walking along the beach, they spot a body they believe is dead, but upon further inspection they discover it's Griffin and he’s been beaten badly. Once they get him back to their house and Kevin doctors him up, he confesses all his dark past. And after that, well let’s just say all kinds of shit hits the fan, and things come to light

The ending left me speechless. Oh how I can’t wait for April 12 to come and book 3 to come out so we get Skylar’s story. I love how they all get along. Normally ex’s and new girlfriends are enemies but in this story they are all friends.

Savannah and Griffin have nothing to do with one another but one look makes them feel as though they’re missing out. I like to believe in love at first sight, and I truly believe that when Savannah and Griffin looked at one another for the first time, that’s what occurred.

One is on the run, one is struggling to keep it together and yet amongst all the chaos, they both find comfort in one another and soon a whirlwind romance unwinds.

I enjoyed the first book of the series but I preferred this book more. There’s something about a redemption arc for a character that always leaves me feeling warm and content inside. Griffin messed up in his past, yes he was just a child but he still messed up in a way that has continued to affect him as he’s grown. Despite this, I think he deserved so much kindness and happiness to be given to him, especially when his heart is pure and full of goodness.

I really loved Savannah, I love how kind she is and I love that she does her best to look after everyone, in a way, I feel as though I can relate to Savannah, and when her world starts to fall apart, I just want to hug her because she’s still so wonderful to anyone and everyone… even when they don’t deserve it.

The progression between friendship to lovers between Griffin and Savannah was a tad fast for me, but I also think it fits in well with the love at first sight element. While they’re opposite in numerous ways, they’re alike in personality and blend together nicely. Their chemistry was so much better than Aidan and Savannah’s and you could tell that they’re the kind of couple who will still be married in thirty odd years.

One thing I really loved about this story was the plot twist. I was expecting a certain something to happen and yet Jordan Ford did a whole 180 on me. While I think the plot twist finished a little underwhelmed (I think Savannah needed more time to adjust and accept things), I do feel like it was a good way to get rid of an arsehole and show another persons true colours.

All in all, I really enjoyed this story and I’m happy onto the third.

I really enjoyed this story!! It was a great read with fantastic characters. Savannah and Griffin really drew me in from beginning to end. I was not ready to leave them and their story yet, so hopefully we get more of them. Griffin has been running for years with a fake ID trying to stay safe and be good. Savannah is going through a hard time and trying to figure things out. Her best friend is in a coma, her ex-boyfriend is moving on, and she's fighting with her sister. Her mom passed and so she has taken on some of that motherly role in both household chores, being somewhat of a partner for her dad and taking care of her siblings. It's a lot for her to deal with. Savannah is trying to find a hobby for herself and she decides on surfing and having Harley, (her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend) to teach her. I loved the way that the 2 girls handled this . I loved watching their friendship grow. Griffin and Savannah start spending more time together and they definitely have some struggle with that as Griffin knows he shouldn't be as he believes he needs to leave shortly and he doesn't want to hurt her. I loved the way that this story developed! It's done really well with all the relationships being introduced and grown throughout the story. Everything feels natural. I was not ready for the book to be over and to have to leave Ryder Bay for a short while. I can't wait to come back to Ryder Bay and these characters and get the next part of the story. I'm also hoping that we will get to see a lot more of Griffin, Savannah, Aiden, and Harley!

He's a nomad, not by choice but for his safety. She's a follower, trying to keep everyone happy. Savannah lives in Skylar, her best friend’s shadow. But when Skylar is hurt and ends up in a coma, Sav is on her own. Seeing how good surfing has been for her ex-boyfriend Aiden, she decides to take lessons herself. Griffin the hot new guy renting out surfboards on the beach. He knows he should stay away from Sav. He can't afford to get attached. He has a past and too many secrets. Ryder Bay feels like home; he has friends, he wants Sav even though he knows he shouldn't. But he can't stay away and she doesn't want him to.

I completely recommend the Ryder Bay series to anyone who enjoys a good, wholesome read. It's not that these books are all sunshine and rainbows; bad things take place, the characters have faced loss and hardships. But there is an innocence to the stories. It's a welcome quality. I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first in the series but that is because of a personal preference with the female characters. I liked Harley's feistiness more than Sav's agreeableness. I did like her growth as she found her backbone and decided what was worth fighting for. I liked Griffin a lot. I wanted to wrap him up in a big hug after learning his story. He's a survivor. It will be interesting to follow him as he settles. I enjoyed the friendships in this book as much as the romance. Harley and Sav are great together. I do wish we had a little more time with a certain cleaner with a heart of gold. I love Jed! His talks with Sky stole my heart.

I look forward to Sky's story. She has so much to say. I hope that we get plenty of the characters we are already familiar with in her story. They all deserve to find their drop of sunshine!

Loving this Ryder Bay series so much. I had mixed feelings about Savannah coming into this book, however once her layers were pulled back and she was forced to step out of her best friends shadow, she came alive and her personality really shone through. Griffin is just a gentle soul dealt a tough hand and is fighting to turn his life around one day at a time.

This beautiful YA series really delves into the feelings of these teens and you feel all their emotions as they happen. Harley and Aidan are still very present and the blossoming and unlikely friendship that happens throughout this story was very touching to see. I'm always left wanting more and can't wait for the next installment. I already have my pre-order in place, but was too excited to wait and was fortunate enough to be granted an ARC.

This book is the story of Savannah and Griffin. When I read the scene in Over The Falls where Savannah and Griffin help Aiden save Harley I had a feeling that Savannah and Griffin would be great together.
This story doesn't disappoint and we get to know Savannah and Griffin's past. They fight their feelings but end up falling fast for one another. All throughout the book I wondered the complete story to Griffin's past because although it sounded bad he was a good person at heart so something had to have happened that would have caused him to be in trouble. Reading about Savannah's life made her perfect girl image fro Over The Falls become clear. She along with Aiden are fortunate money wise but they still have issues going on in their lives just like everyone else.
I loved that Harley and Aiden were a big part of this group and how they all grew close while Skylar was in a come. Now I can't wait for the next book to see what happened to Skylar and how she is as well as how her relationship with Saavannah will be.
Is it just me or is Savannah story include Jed? Fingers crossed.

Griffin is a free spirit or at least that is what you think at the beginning but you know that he is hiding something. That is the real reason he haven’t made roots anywhere until he got to Ryder Bay. He has a great job, he likes his boss and he finds this small town endearing but he knows best that he will have to leave once the summer ends. Savannah is a rich and insecure girl, she lost her mother couple of years ago and her best friend, the person she trusts the most is in the hospital. Her whole world is crumbling. So her father tells her she should get a hobby but she never realize that her chosen hobby could change her life. This is a tender story of two beautiful souls that finds love and joy in Bay Ryder.
This is the second book in the Bay Ryder series and besides Savannah and Griffin you are able to keep track of Harley, Aiden and Jed from Over the Falls.

Savannah Green broke up with her boyfriend, but finds herself taking surfing lessons, and becoming friends with her ex's new girlfriend. Griffin Ayala is a nomad, and after he meets Savannah he would like nothing more than to stay in Ryder Bay and have her as his girlfriend, but he is afraid that if he stays his past will catch up with him. Savannah and Griffin are young, but their devotion to each other will help to solve the mystery of why her best friend is in a coma. Beautifully well written, and complex young characters. Suspense and a mystery is solved, fantastic book.

I am voluntarily leaving an honest and nonincentivized review of this ARC.

We met Savannah and Griffin briefly in the first book of this series, but now we have the opportunity to know these two characters better.
Savannah is a responsible girl, having taken on the role of "mother" at home after her mother's death. While dealing with her best friend in a coma, she looks for a hobby for the summer and ends up finding passion surfing. She learns to surf with Harley and they become good friends.
Griffin is a nomad fleeing from his past and ending up at Rider Bay. He didn't expect to feel at home in that place, let alone fall in love with sweet Savannah.
As they get to know each other better, their feelings only increase, but Griffin's past can ruin their happiness.
Will Griffin be able to overcome the problems of his past and give a chance with Savannah? Or will he have to keep running and leave her behind?
This story is full of emotion, a bit of suspense and romance. I'm already anxious for the next book in this series.
I highly recommend the reading.

I was privileged enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book from the author for a voluntary and honest review.
Wow, what a fabulous, powerful, well written story this is, its full of action and caught my interest from the beginning, the storyline kept me intrigued and I wanted to know what would happen next. This storyline is captivating, flows really well, hooks you in and grabs a hold of your heart. It took me through several emotions, I even shed a tear or two. Can't wait for Skylar's book.

A beautifully written, touching story that will leave you breathless!
I'm not a huge fan of YA fiction, generally. But there is just something about the worlds and the characters that author Jordan Ford brings to life that utterly transfix me. This author does not treat YA fiction with any less care or complexity just because the subjects are younger. Indeed, this book captures the exquisite pain of being a teenager, and explores difficult concepts with sensitivity and ease. I absolutely adored this love story, and can't wait to find out what happens next.

The Impact Zone is book two in the Ryder Bay series. It should read after the first book as the overall plot is connected to the first book. This is about Savannah and Griffin. Savannah is the ex-girlfriend of Aiden from book one and Griffin works at a surf shop. I loved these two characters together. Savannah goes to a private school, her best friend is in a coma after falling from the pier and her ex-boyfriend is now dating a local girl. Griffin is the older guy who works at the local surf shop and has a history that no one knows about. I thought these two opposites were perfect for each other and really brought the best out of other. Savannah really comes out of the shadow of her best friend and Griffin embraces his past. I also like how she befriended Harley, Aiden’s new girlfriend. I loved how they developed a friendship and there was no jealousy or spite. You can’ t read this big as a stand-alone. It must be read after the first book. The only thing I wish we had was a conclusion about Griffin and his brother, but here’s to hoping we get to see it at the conclusion of the series. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series about Skylar, Savannah’s best friend and Aiden’s cousin.

Oh my gosh this book was sooo good. Jordan Ford did an an amazing job continuing the story of Ryder Bay. I could not put this book down as the story started to unfurl in the second half. She really makes you feel the emotions of her characters. I love the fact that Harley and Aidens story continued in this second book and you can see how their relationship grows as well as seeing how Savannah changes as well. Such an amazing story and I can not wait to read the next book!

This time Harley and Aidan are side characters, this is Savannah and Griffin's story. Picking up where the last book left us we find life changed for Savvy, her bestie is still in a coma and she has a chance to find herself. By the time the story got to about half way it really took off and I couldn't put it down. It's a well written, slightly angst filled teen romance with plenty of dramatic moments and a mystery to solve. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Another great read by Jordan Ford. The 2nd book in the series and it was just as great as the first one. Although I didnt LOVE Savannah and Griffin as much as I Loved Harley and Aiden, I did enjoy their story. And having a continuation of Harley and Aiden made it that much sweeter. I really enjoyed the mystery aspect and the suspense that followed and I am so excited to read the next one.

I recommend this book to anyone wanting a fun enjoyable read.

Anxiously waiting to see what happens next. Great having Harley and Aiden involved with story also.

Jordan Ford really knows howto craft a good suspense. Her heroes and heroines are so endearing. Her villians are devious and cruel. The action can sometimes terrifying. She even writes a gentle cliffhanger. All in all, this book is close to perfect.

They’re adrift: Griffin has left behind his past, and Savannah has lost her anchors; from her Mother, to her ex boyfriend moving on, and now her bestie isn’t even there to cast her usual shadow. These two have a lot going on, and each and every hurdle in their lives sets up a heartfelt, irresistible love story.
Where Over the Falls set the hook for Ryder Bay, The Impact Zone pulls you in even deeper. Savannah and Griffin’s story is an intense new installment in the series that’ll only leave readers wanting more!

The Impact Zone is book two in the series. When an accident puts Savannah's friend Skylar into a coma, she finds herself adrift. Griffin fears the past that he's been running from resurfacing. But when the two find themselves spending time together and and Savannah coming out of her shell, will his fears ruin everything blossoming between them? This book was amazing and I honestly can't wait to read what's next for this series

Ryder Bay series is becoming one of my favorite series by Jordan Ford! Savannah and Griffin’s story is beautifully written. I couldn’t put the book down wanting to know what will happen next. It’s romantic, and suspenseful. And their chemistry is undeniable. I really enjoy reading this series an I can’t wait to read more of Jordan Ford’s books.

Anxious!

I loved the mystery behind everything. Back to when Griffin had a past life that he thinks might scare people away to when Ripper (although i already lnew) showed his teue colors. I am on the tip of my toes to read the final sequence in the Ryder Bay series, how will Skylar cope with her BFF hanging around these new people? A surfer girl she got on bad terms with and the new sweet dred head. Love it!!

Such a great read! Once I got started I wasn’t able to put it down! I loved seeing this side of Savannah, and also seeing what happens with Harley and Aidan. Jordan Ford has to be one of my favorite authors, and I would 100% recommend this read!
