It was short, so there wasn't a lot of time for character development, and I got a little lost at the end - after the mystery was solved there were a couple of chapters of side plot that didn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the story. But quite a lot was fit into that 125 pages.

Missy Gladstone, owner of two cupcake shops, gets a call from Francesca Childs in Hollywood, CA. Francesca invites Missy to come to Hollywood to audition for hosting a Reality TV Baking Show. After arriving in Hollywood, Missy learns that the invitation is, in reality, to a competition for hosting the baking show.

One of the judges, Kelvin Michaels, seems to have a particularly nasty disposition. Rather than giving constructive criticism, he prefers to insult every contestant to one degree or another. He gives a particularly nasty review to Missy's latest creation. When Kelvin is found dead, Missy is the primary suspect. With Chaz Beckett still in LaChance, Missy is on her own.

Who killed Kelvin Michaels? Why was he killed? Can Missy prove her innocence and expose the real killer?

Summer Prescott does a great job of holding your attention with vivid characters and situations. There are plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing all the way through.

Out of the blue Missy gets an invite to Hollywood to screen test for her own baking show, she's not sure she's the right person for this but get pressured to try out and they want her but didn't explain that she would participate in a bake off competition and would have to win to get the show. When she ends up in the final two the producer has a dinner party to celebrate but somehow one of the judges ends up dead and everyone thinks Missy did it and it all goes downhill really fast from there, then there's another murder and Missy ends up in jail - there are more surprises and plot twists than Carter's has pills in this one but in the end, in spite of all the shocking surprises the murderer is found and Missy goes home to find even more surprises but everything ends well. Great read.

Missy decides to enter a TV show contest to see who has the best cupcakes. Well we all already know what happens. I really do like a cozy murder series I just wish the books were longer so you had time to get to know everyone.

I enjoyed this book, even though there wasn't much Chas in it. I really enjoy how he treats her in this book, it's so sweet. She gets pulled into another murder mystery while away in New York. She doesn't really investigate anything as she is the murder suspect and Chas is back home, but she does have her friend to look into what he could while she waited.

Missy is thrown for a loop in this book, and wants to make the situation work. Her strength as a character comes out in this book, which is lovely. Though she gets really close to losing it in this book, she does well to power through.

I enjoyed the end of the book when there was some character development and we got to see the side characters that weren't present through the rest of the book. It was a nice to see them when there isn't a mystery to solve.

I am still really enjoying this series.

Another great offering from Carol Durand! This time, Missy is asked to participate in a cupcake creating reality show, the winner of which is to get their own baking show. Missy is skeptical about the whole thing, but allows herself to be talked into it, only to find herself as the prime suspect in the murder of one of the judges! She has to try to save herself as Chas is unable to come to the rescue, and there are very few clues.

Missy is not allowed to go anywhere by herself

Missy goes to California to test for a Cupcake show. What could possibly go wrong! Its not a cupcake show but rather a cupcake competition show.

A well written book, easy to read but it finishes really quick. I would prefer not to know the killer so early and maybe to deepen into characters! However generally I enjoy reading it!

This one was great.

I can't even put into words how much I am loving this series. I was a bit surprised by who the killer was in this one. Looking forward to book 13.
