Daniel Arenson is a bookworm, proud geek, and USA Today bestselling author of fantasy and science fiction. His novels have sold over a million copies. The Huffington Post has called his writing "full of soul." He's written over forty novels, most of them in five series:
EARTHRISE — They came from deep space. They came to destroy us. Against the alien onslaught, Earth stands alone. But we will fight. We will rise. We will win. Start reading with Earth Alone, the first novel in this military science fiction series.
REQUIEM — Welcome to Requiem, an ancient kingdom whose people can grow wings and scales, breathe fire, and take flight as dragons. Requiem is explored in six trilogies, which can be read in any order. If you're new to Requiem, you can start reading with Requiem's Song (you can download it for free). For fans of dark, gritty fantasy like A Game of Thrones.
MOTH — Discover Moth, a world torn between day and night—its one half drenched in eternal daylight, the other cloaked in endless darkness. For fans of classic fantasy worlds such as Middle Earth and Narnia. Start reading with Moth, the first novel in this epic fantasy saga.
ALIEN HUNTERS — Got trouble with aliens? Call the Alien Hunters. A group of scruffy mercenaries, they'll remove the pest for you. Low rates. No questions asked. Start reading with Alien Hunters, the first book in this space opera series. For fans of Star Wars, Firefly, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
KINGDOMS OF SAND — Enter a world of sand and splendor, a world where gladiators battle in the arena, where legionaries and barbarians fight for glory, and where empires rise and fall.
This trilogy has to be Daniel Arenson's best and most mature Requiem story yet! I do say mature lightly as many of the issues from the previous Requiem trilogies are still littered throughout this one, like the repetition, inconsistencies, grammar issues, and the clear preference to non-stop action, carnage and gore over any real story and character developments.
At the same time, however, most of the other issues from the past Requiem books are non-existent here. The constant use of rape as a villain trope is long gone, the overuse of 'reptile' and 'whore' as insults are toned down to the extreme, the bleak and gratuitous atmosphere takes a backseat (in a good way without undermining the chaos), there is more world-building (if only a little), and even the characters have a bit more depth and complexity! Because of this, I was able to get invested in this world far more than before. It may not be perfect, but if Arenson returns to Requiem one day and focuses on correcting errors and upping the quality, then I'll gladly come back for more!
I can't believe I'm saying this as a former long-time hater of this series but, "Requiem! May our wings forever find your sky!"
I have read the entire series of the World of Requiem. I loved the action, the storyline of each series, and all of the characters. The author Daniel Arenson, kept each book authentic with the characters and built upon each book to create a marvelous narrative and history in the world of requiem. Every page had suspense, romance, and adventure that I couldn’t put down.
What a thrilling series of books to read. I actually cried when Sirana died. It's great to read books and get so involved with the characters. Well done Mr Arenson.
Another epic tale in the land of people who can transform into dragons. The people of Requiem are again, threatened to be annihilated, and must fight for their very right to live. Filled with adventure, bonds of friendship, and sadness, this tale fits very nicely into the Requiem world, that we've come to love. I must confess, that at the end of the book, I found myself in tears. That alone, tells you how well the character building was done, that you really fell empathy for these people. In the Afterword, is a teaser that more Requiem books are on their way, and I for one, cannot wait.
