An agent broken

MI6 agent Damon Knight prided himself on always being in control. His missions were executed with cold, calculating precision. His club, The Garden, was run with an equally ordered and detached decadence. But his perfect world was shattered by one bullet, fired from the gun of his former partner. That betrayal almost cost him his life and ruined his career. His handlers want him to retire, threatening to revoke his license to kill if he doesn’t drop his obsession with a shadowy organization called The Collective. To earn their trust, he has to prove himself on a unique assignment with an equally unusual partner.

A woman tempted

Penelope Cash has spent her whole life wanting more. More passion. More adventure. But duty has forced her to live a quiet life. Her only excitement is watching the agents of MI6 as they save England and the world. Despite her training, she’s only an analyst. The closest she is allowed to danger and intrigue is in her dreams, which are often filled with one Damon Knight. But everything changes when the woman assigned to pose as Damon’s submissive on his latest mission is incapacitated. Penny is suddenly faced with a decision. Stay in her safe little world or risk her life, and her heart, for Queen and country.

An enemy revealed

With the McKay-Taggart team at their side, Damon and Penny hunt an international terrorist across the great cities of Northern Europe. Playing the part of her Master, Damon begins to learn that under Penny’s mousy exterior is a passionate submissive, one who just might lay claim to his cold heart. But when Damon’s true enemy is brought out of the shadows, it might be Penny who pays the ultimate price.

Sex isn't polite, Penelope. Sex is dirty and nasty and raw. I want you rough. I'm a bloody man and you're going to treat me like one. And I'm going to show you just how much of a woman you are.

This series has been a go to of mine whenever I need a hot BDSM read with a great plot and some action and suspense thrown into the mix. And it seems to only get better and better with each new book.

Dungeon Royale starts off immediately where Love and Let Die ended, with Damon being betrayed by his long time partner in MI6 and shot twice. Barely surviving the attack, months later Damon is still recuperating. He wants back into the field, but his superiors are questioning his medical reports. So when his boss presents to him an opportunity to prove that he can still perform despite his injuries, he jumps at the chance. There's just one thing he needs for the mission, a female partner and submissive, and the mousy company translator seems the perfect fit for the job.

But there's also another thing standing in his way; he has to convince her.

Penelope Cash has spent her life taking care of others and letting people stomp all over her. She's shy, awkward, and hasn't had the best of luck with men...if you can even count the one relationship she had as an experience. She has always been attracted to the sexy as sin Damon Knight, but she knows that he would never go for a woman like her. That doesn't stop her from wanting more from her life. A dangerous mission may just be the answer, if only Damon could convince her.
She's scared out of her mind, Nige, and I rather think it isn't about taking a bullet. She knows I'll keep her safe. So that makes me really wonder what really frightens her. I think she's a prudish chit and she's worried I'll get her knickers off."
"Did you ever stop to wonder if perhaps I'm simply not interested in even pretending to sleep with you?"
"No. Not once."
"Maybe I don't like men, Mr. Knight."
"Oh you like men, love. And you like me."

I was a little afraid at first that Penny might irritate me. I'm not a big fan of the super shy and mousy heroines. But I shouldn't have been concerned, since this is a Lexi Blake book. Penny was an amazing heroine, she's not at all what she first appears to me. I loved watching her personal growth and seeing her come into her own as the story progressed. She was the perfect match to Damon.

The action and suspense in the story was none stop. It was quick paced and entertaining as hell. Then there was all the characters from the previous books that I've loved that made an appearance in this one. I don't think I'll ever get enough of Ian.
I'm not retiring and I'm not managing an office for you."
"Come on, Knight, I promise to send someone to assassinate you at least once a month. It'll keep your adrenaline up. It's not so bad, man. Hell, I'm lying. It's horrible. You get to sit around and listen to everyone whine constantly. 'I need time off. My wife is giving birth. I can't sleep with that target in oder to get information because I'm a faithful husband.' God, they constantly whine at me

Then there were the sex scenes. And in this series, there is only one thing that you can expect them to be. SCORCHING.

There was a new character introduced in this book, and I can only hope that he will eventually get his own story. Nothing better than a sexy Aussie accent :)

And like with all the rest of the books in the series, the last chapter give you a preview of the next book. All I can say to you Miss Blake is that you are a damn sadist for teasing me this way. As excited as I am to finally get my hands on Simon and Chelsea's book, I'm pretty sure I may go a little crazy waiting until Aug 19.

But then again, patience has never been a virtue of mine.

This is not a series that I would recommend reading out of order. Although Lexi gives plenty of background about each character in their book, it just wouldn't be the same. Many of the characters get introduced early in the series and helps you get a stronger feel for them. Damon Knight was first introduced in book 5 and Penelope is a new character. I've loved every book in this series, so I definitely recommend reading them all.

I enjoyed this book, but the romance lacked intimacy.
Another good story from Lexi Blake and a better one than the last three books in this series. Ian Taggart is still my favorite hero among all of these spy-heroes. Damon Knight could have been my top pick but somehow I think he was never allowed to be who he would become in this book, because Penelope and Damon were constantly two steps forward, three steps back, emotionally. What I loved about this book was the snappy dialogue, I had a smile on my face throughout reading this book and although there were a lot of characters in this book, it did not seem as busy as the last one. I could not give this one 5 stars though, because it simply does not make my re-read shelf. This was because there was no satisfying resolution to the problems between Damon and Penelope, they seemed to operate on their own mostly and did made love often but this book lacked intimacy which was there in droves in Serena's book, The Men with the Golden Cuffs, book 2 in this series.

Lexi Blake skips over to England for the sixth Masters & Mercenaries book, featuring her first British hero and heroine. I'm not, as a general rule, a fan of British characters written by American authors, but Blake manages not to be too unbearable.

Though I have to say, the scenes set in London did make me grind my teeth a little. I know she's been here and everything, but there are little irritations. Like, on the Tube, the recorded voice ALWAYS says "Please mind the gap between the train and the platform", not "the platform and the train!" I'm being extremely petty right now but I can't help it.

Anyway, luckily about halfway through the action leaves London and joins a cruise ship, so I was able to relax without worrying about inaccuracies. What we have here is Blake's trademark blend of well-written BDSM-light sex scenes, a domineering hero, stubborn heroine, humour, and action. Serve shaken, not stirred.

Dungeon Royale is yet another amazing Masters and Mercenaries story from the incredibly talented Lexi Blake. This series just keeps getting better and better, with more mystery, more suspense, and a whole lot more kinkiness to go around. When Lexi Blake gives us a story, you just know it's genuine and from the heart. She is such a talented consistent author that always gives her readers what they want, an action packed, intensely emotional, and sexy as hell read. Dungeon Royale is one of those stories that you will forever keep handy, not only because the cover is fucking gorgeous and drool-worthy, but the storyline is solid and so damn entertaining that you will probably want to go back for more.

❝ Here's the first rule, love. Don't tell me what I can't do. ❞

Let me introduce to you our hero, Damon Knight. Gorgeous, brooding, built like a truck, and is as Dominant as they come. His humour is kinda dry, but still his little quips are funny as hell. Damon is intense, charming, and definitely swoon worthy to the tenth degree. And of course, you can't be around Ian Taggart and not be a smart ass!

Now it's time for our heroine, Penelope Cash is just your average woman with a not so average IQ who works for M16 as well. She is a curvy girl *big props Lexi* who knows her way around several languages, but has never been out in the field. Penelope has some insecurities and she also is a virgin to the whole BDSM scene. Her life has been put on hold in order for her to take care of her mother, so she hasn't had much experience in the relationship department.

Together, the chemistry between these two are off the charts. Apart, they are just as stubborn as ever! I think Damon and Penelope were paired perfectly. Damon is the man to get Penelope past her insecurities and to stand up for herself and Penelope can see through Damon's charms. She can test him, make him work for it and keep him on his toes which I think just excites the big bad Dom even more.

❝ That's right, love. You touch me. I want you to touch me. If you belong to me, then my body is yours, too. ❞

The gang is back! Well, most of them are. Some had to stay at home to take care of all the babies :) There is Ian, Jake, Charlotte, Simon, Jesse, AND Charlotte's sister, Chelsea (who I am very intrigued about). They team up with Damon and M16 to try to take down 'The Collective.' Someone new is in charge, and it's closely connected to Damon Knight's past. With a plan in place and the right people on the job, craziness still ensues, loyalties are tested, and setbacks become the norm. Excitement will rush through your veins and your eyes will stay hooked to the pages, as you try to figure out what the end game will be.

There was no doubt in my mind that this wouldn't be tagged as a MUST READ for me. I fell in love with this series a long time ago, and Lexi Blake is keeping 'this girl' happy by bringing in more incredible characters who will just steal your heart. Damon Knight is a perfect example of these incredible characters. When a man like Damon says things like, "Don't ever leave me." to the woman he loves, it just makes my insides turn to mush. It's so damn sexy, to witness such a strong male show just how vulnerable he can be. If you haven't started the Masters & Mercenaries series yet, hop to it, because you will love it, you will crave it, and you will never forget it.

♠♣♥♦

I can't let you all go without one of my favorite lines from Mr. Taggart!

❝ Hello again, Mr. Taggart. ❞

❝ God, that makes me sound old. Call me Ian or bastard or son of a bitch. I answer to them all. ❞

this book takes place a few months after love and let die , Damon has been healing from some injuries that he received in that book, while recovering he received some devastating news from the surgeon . hes lived a hard and fast pace and dangerous life as a 00 in M16 his boss has seen is physical and he now has one chance to prove that he is agent he always has been but this mission mission involves aspects of his personal life
Penelope , an analyst of languages works for MI6 shes always kind , caring and willing to serve , she shes always watching and is longing for Damon , lately shed been more drawn into her self because of troubles at home , shes not very confident with here self and what doesn't help is that most of her family treat her horribly , she gets called into her bosses office to find Damon right there with him , shes been given a choice to go on a mission with him to serve her country as a 00 , how ever this mission is not usual especially for her her cover is to go in as damons submissive and he as her dom , this book is full of passion , action , funny moments , twist and turns and the ending is epic !

Seven months after being shot by his partner Basil Champion, Damon Knight is ready to return to active duty with M16. The only obstacle in his way is obtaining a medical clearance. When Damon threatens to quit if not cleared, he's given the opportunity to team up with the crew from the McKay-Taggart team on a low level security job to find a suspected terrorist who is planning to enter the UK via a cruise ship. The task is just up Damon's alley as it's a VIP specialty cruise for those who live the BDSM lifestyle.

Penelope Cash, a desk translator for the M16, has all the skills necessary for an assignment of this sort except for one. She's never heard of or participated in BDSM before, but if it gives her a chance to be with Damon Knight she's up to the task.....

Another exciting installment in the Masters & Mercenaries series capped with oodles and oodles of BDSM play scenes and snarky dialogue between Ian Taggart and his crew. I can't get enough of Ian and Charlie.......

The storyline has enough excitement that kept me second guessing the what and why outcomes of many of the scenes along with seductive glitterkink quality BDSM play scenes that satisfied the adult content lover in me. I do have to say though that the scene between Chelsea and Simon left me drooling over their upcoming book.
Nice job author - keep them wanting right? and I do.... want, want, want......

I can't believe I'm about to say the following....
While this book had positives and I enjoyed the erotica scenes, there was just something ... off ... on the whole thing for me. What it is I can't put my finger on but I didn't end reading this book with the same euphoric feeling that I've had reading other books written by this author. The only concrete thing I can say (without spoilers of course) is that around the 25% portion of this read I struggled to continue. About the only thing that kept me going is that I've never read a book I haven't liked by said author and I'm so very happy that the pace and tempo picked up once again and alls good in the world.

Another issue which is personal to each and every reader. The author kept things real by using the 'flavor of their languagess' in local dialect and such. While I totally appreciated that and commend the author for the same it's really hard to feel 'knickers' and 'arse' are sexy. On the reverse I'm sure Europeans will think panties and ass don't do much for them. Vive la différence !!!

Overall this is another good addition to the series though imho I do think the bad guy element slant didn't work for me. Looking forward to "A View To Thrill" (the next installment) which is scheduled to be released Aug 18, 2014. For once it's the girl I can't wait to go down in flames. I can't wait to see how Simon will get Chelsea to finally submit.

Another winner by Lexi Blake I think she could write a technical manual and still love it.

4 Modern Day Espionage Stars.

It’s amazing what passes through your mind when you’re about to die. In this case Damon Knight sees what he could have had with one Miss Penelope Cash.

Seven months later he is trying to get back into the field. His medical records aren’t up to scratch but they don’t know the half of it. He has the chance to start off with a small assignment but needs help. He’s not big on help he has always kept himself apart from the others due to his awful childhood and all the loss that he has experienced.

Penelope Cash, no I won’t call her Penny Cash because I agree with Damon that is just wrong what were the parents thinking or in this case Ms. Blake? Is a translator for SIS she has always had a crush on Damon but she has put her life on hold when it came to looking after her mother. And even after that she doesn’t quite know how until

“Say yes to the one thing that frightens you that intrigues, that you think you can't do. Say yes and don't look back. It will or it won't be, but you'll never know until you say yes.”

That my lovely friends is about to change…………

Operation alternative lifestyle cruise is in place. That is all I am saying on the matter.

So delectable and scrumptious any my heart beat like a jungle drum. I was in high anticipation of this book because hot Brit and spy sign me up. There were a lot of things I like about Damon but he is no Ian Taggart. This book was positively scorching. Penelope and Damon are on such an intense level with one another that it is hard to watch. But Penny is the only one who speaks his language.

“I don’t like it when you won’t talk to me.” Translation: You hurt me.

There is never a dull moment from either of the characters that are included. Basil Champion is back and baiting Damon at every single move. But there is more to what Baz has wanted all those years ago.

I wasn’t convinced how Ms. Blake was going to be on par with this book as with the others. But I am not disappointed by bringing over some essential characters to help them on their mission makes it all the sweeter.

Very important to me.

The German was correct and the English translation is also spot on. Some authors can really muck that up you know.

I hope Brody Carter gets a book because an Aussie who speaks like him. Sigh and happy days peeps.

“Listen up, you pommie bastard. You’ve got a few roos loose in the top paddock if you think I’m giving you anything.”
God save him from Aussie’s. It was bad enough to be surrounded by Americans.

Or

“Bite my arse.” Carter sat back. “Oh Ian. I like him. Can we keep him?” Charlotte asked obviously amused. It was nice someone found the situation humorous. “Absolutely not. I don’t think he’s housebroken, baby, Taggart shot back.

Dungeon Royale will take you on a dangerous mission filled with action, intrigue, espionage, and bondage. Master Damon is the most fierce and hardcore Dom in this series thus far.

Damon has scars inside and out. His life has always been about MI-6. It’s who he is and what he knows other than being the owner of The Garden, Britain’s most lush and luxurious BDSM club. Damon craves control in all things in his life. He has never had a relationship with a woman before. He once had a sub that he slept with regularly but she was just a sub and a sweet girl nothing more. Never in a million years would anyone believe that a little sprite like Penelope Cash could bring Damon to his knees.

Penelope Cash is a people pleaser. She lets her family walk all over her. Her family enjoys making her feel small and timid and all she has ever done is try to show them love. Damon Knight on the other hand ignites a passion inside of her that she has never felt before and that spark brings out her feisty side. Damon does his best to convince Penelope to go undercover with him as his sub to catch a terrorist group.

“Did you ever stop to wonder if perhaps I’m simply not interested in even pretending to sleep with you?”

“No not once.”

“Maybe I don’t like men Mr. Knight.”

The flirtatious banter is delightfully delicious and addicting. I absolutely adore Penelope’s tenacity towards Damon and his fumbling for words because he never expected such sass from her. Lexi will have you laughing one moment and all hot and bothered the next. If you have read any of the Master’s Mercenaries Series you know that Lexi has a talent for writing smokin hot sex scenes that will melt your panties off. She delivers that and much more in Dungeon Royale. Let’s just say that Master Damon likes his woman tied down and screaming for release. He has a nice stash of toys as well.

While there is lots of spice, Lexi also delivers amazing stories. She keeps you on the edge of your seat while waiting for the attack. There is an element of danger in all of her books that will keep you turning the pages. She introduces new characters in this installment that will surely appear in Simon’s story. Yes! Yes! Yes! Simon’s story is next. I will be biting my nails until it arrives.

Master Damon will have your panties wet and your heart racing…

ok more 4,5 but hey it's really good so I'm adding 1/2 star for the good reading!

Let me say I'm becoming more and more fond of this series, people, characters, second characters and all.

The only thing that left me some doubt is that some time those big hunches of Doms are really some big pussycats... LOL.

I loved Damon since the very first time I met him, this English dom, funny and strong. But we're discovering in this book that after he was almost killed by his old partner in work, who betrayed him, he has some bad welath issues on his lungs and heart.

ANd then there's a mission in which he can get his ex-partner and he's asked to work with a translator, a young woman, he already liked her but he never got close to her because of his work.

ANd then they have to pretend to be in a D/s relationship... oh what a pity! LOL

As I said, the thing that left me speechless was the fact that Damon, is really full of doubts about himself, he thinks too much and they have a lot of mutual misunderstandings. It damages his big Dom role a bit, LOL.

BTW, recommended! I cannot wait for the next story!

This is the 6th book in the Masters and Mercenaries series. These books should be read in order. Many of the characters are from other books and you would miss out if you didn’t read them in order.

Lexi Blake never disappoints me. She develops her characters well and writes a suspenseful book. Penelope was so interesting. I loved that she ended up interpreting what Damon would say. She had to read between the lines. Just like she does with other languages, things could have multiple meanings. Every Lexi Blake book I read I learn a little more about people in general. In this book I learned to not just hear words but to look at body language to find the true meaning of what people want. Each book has something a little special.

One thing that kept happening is that Damon and Penelope’s relationship would have rocky spots and then they would get through it just to take a few steps back and be rocky again. It got a little frustrating but it did make for an interesting read.

All I can say is this series gets better and better all the time. This time we get a look at Damon Knight, M16 agent and Master of his domain. When an assignment comes up Damon knows who he wants at his side, quiet foreign language translator Penelope Cash. When Penelope is threatened by Damon's enemy and ex best friend Basil Champion, Damon will have to put his feeling aside to save the one person who has stolen his heart. Bringing in the friend Ian Taggart and crew is just the thing he needs to keep the op going and protecting Penelope. This book was just so much fun to read, and laugh at the things that come out of their mouths. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

I really loved this book! Damien is just delicious and Penny became a favorite because she kept pushing past the issues and misunderstanding to get down to the heart of the matter. After the various books I've read by this Author I have to say that Lexi Blake is fantastic at erotic romance and this series keeps getting better each book.

The best of the Masters & Mercenaries series yet! The usual spy stuff, well done. But this book has a great deal of humor between Damon & Penelope, and of course, with Ian & Charlie. I love humor in my stories & this one delivers. Now, have to wait 3 months for the next one!

My Review:

I really enjoyed Dungeon Royale, it was such a fun story and honestly I really wanted Damon's story so much. He is this sexy brit Dom who is injured and the lady he ends up with is a softer FMC and you all know that is my cup of tea. I loved their dynamic so much. The heroine is struggling with some self worth issues and I really related so well with her. She is shy, reserved and emotionally damaged. We see her come out of her shell but in many respects I loved how she fights for her man, how she treats him so fairly, always aware of his mental health and needs like WOW .....how many heroines do we actually read that are like this? The only complaint I have about this series is all the heroines are curvy....can we get some variety cause women don't come in just one shape. LOL

The story itself was very interesting. We basically have a forced proximity, working undercover as a dom and sub to get some important documentation to help save millions from a virus outbreak. I loved their interactions, the way that they connect to each other and the moments in which you see their vulnerabilities just shine through so well. The more I read into this series, the more I am loving about it. And even though I am NOT looking forward to Chelsea's book (cause she is kinda a spoiled brat and I really don't like those) I also am intrigued cause I really have loved the hero in the past couple of books and he knows how to handle Chelsea. I am hoping we see great redemption from Chelsea's character though.

Overall this book was a true keeper!

Bloody hell. I couldn't put the book down, I've enjoyed this series so far and yes, some books are kind of meh for me but this book is everything that I want ... and more! I ignored my ever suffering husband, I ignored by kids and hell, I even ignored my 5 cats (and I never ignore my cats!) because I just could not bear to stop reading. I nearly bite my kids when they told me to eat lunch and then I growled at my husband when he tried to feed me. I think Pen is my favourite heroine in this series and I absolutely is in love with Damon. His imperfection made him the perfect Hero and Master for me *sigh*

Abso-fucking-lutely love this book.

Would Damien be my book boyfriend? hell yes all these men are mine #CLAIMED

Lexi Blake continues to wow and amaze me with each installment of her Masters and Mercenaries series. This time it was Damon Knight’s turn in Dungeon Royale and I just knew that I was in for a good time.

I wasn’t wrong. Once I started, I could not put Dungeon Royale down. Thank goodness for modern technology which allowed me to segue seamlessly from my e-reader, to my phone, to the cloud on my computer. If my boss knew what I was really doing at my desk . . . Dungeon Royale had everything I’ve come to expect from Ms. Blake – sizzling passion, sweet romance, action-packed suspense, and laugh out loud moments.

The story begins with a retelling of the moment that Damon is betrayed by his partner. Damon is shot and left for dead. As he lay on the floor dying, Damon regrets never making a move on Penelope. Fast forward seven months later and Damon and Penelope must work together to capture a suspected bioterrorist with ties to the man who shot Damon. The two must pose as a D/s couple as part of the mission and Damon is finally able to have Penelope right where he wants her.

I think I first fell in love with Damon when he came to Penelope’s rescue at her cousin’s wedding. The way that he defended her and then gave her a powerful orgasm, endeared him to me forever. Yet Damon is not perfect. After a lifetime of feeling abandoned and unworthy of love, he doesn’t trust in his relationship with Penelope. He doesn’t know how to communicate how he is feeling, and as a result, he hurts Penelope with his words. I found myself yelling at my e-reader more than once.

Penelope is a heroine we can all relate to. She is smart, sweet and loving, but suffers from insecurities. She has put her whole life on hold while she cared for her dying mother. Penelope has had a crush on Damon for quite some time, but never thought he would look twice at her. Now that she has the opportunity to work with him, she has to find the courage to be who and what he needs.
Damon and Penelope were a perfect pairing. Penelope needed someone big and strong to love and protect her, even from her own doubts. Damon needed someone to love and care for him and not allow him to hide behind his own insecurities. The chemistry between the two is off the charts and practically burned up my e-reader.

Set in England, the book’s main characters are British and Ms. Blake made sure that every detail was authentic. Every article of clothing, every menu item, even endearments, conformed to British standards. All dialogue, including British slang, felt believable and contributed to the realism of the book.

Dungeon Royale also included several of our favorite characters. Ian Taggert has to be my favorite Dom of all time. Each time he speaks, he makes me smile with his wit and sarcasm. His wife Charlotte keeps him on his toes and provides Penelope with some much needed female companionship. Charlotte’s sister Chelsea and former agent Simon are featured and will be getting their own story later in the year. We were also introduced to hot Aussie Brody who will hopefully become a regular in the McKay-Taggert universe.

It’s this universe of amazing characters that keep me coming back time and time again. Each time I finish a Masters and Mercenaries novel, I think to myself this is Ms. Blake’s best one yet. With each new addition to the series, Ms. Blake improves her storytelling. She is a master at threading suspense throughout the story without sacrificing any emotion or romance. I’ll be counting down the days until her next installment.

The plot of this story takes place on a BDSM cruise. I can only imagine the kind of things one would see on such a cruise...I'm gonna have to look into that!

Damon Knight is hellbent on revenge. After being shot by his MI6 partner and best friend, Damon has been plotting all the ways he'd torture and kill the international terrorist. Damon's determined that his first assignment back in the field, on a BDSM-themed cruise with analyst Penelope Cash, is just what he needs to get back in the game. He's had a hard-on for Penny since he met her, and Damon can't wait to get the mousy blonde under him. You know, for the sake of the job.

Turns out his attraction to Penny is more than he ever thought possible, and he's terrified that she'll get hurt on this mission. Penny has spent her career behind a desk translating and breaking codes, but she's still a trained agent, something her man seems to keep forgetting. But Damon's caveman keeps making an appearance at all the wrong times, and if he doesn't shelve that shit, more than just Penny's life will be at stake in this clandestine game of international espionage.

I'm so excited that Ms. Blake took us across the pond for book 6 in the Masters and Mercenaries series, DUNGEON ROYALE! Damon was SUCH an asshat for most of the book that I had a hard time liking him with Penny, who was sweet, loyal and submissive. Damon ran so hot and cold with her during this story, and I get that his past and present don't necessarily inspire a whole lot of trust, but man, give a girl a break! You throw her into the field, as a trained submissive, and forget that she has literally no experience with spankings or protocol or collars. The punishment scene on the boat just pissed me off, as it was completely out of line for multiple reasons. That said, their chemistry was excellent when they were getting along (which wasn't a whole lot of pages in this book, honestly), and the sex scenes were nicely erotic.

Fortunately, we got more of Ian and Charlotte Taggart as well as a few other members of the McKay-Taggart Security team. They lent a comic relief in DUNGEON ROYALE that was lacking in Damon and Penny's story. I always love the suspense that Ms. Blake writes so brilliantly, so that was another check in the "win" column for me. While not my favorite in the series, this was still a well written and fun addition to the overall series arc.

Bottom Line: You may not totally dig Damon and Penny's characters, but fear not, there's plenty of our McKay-Taggart favorites in DUNGEON ROYALE to go around. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/v...

The plot line was great, the supporting characters were fabulous (& this was a drawback for the reason that Ian & Char were more interesting than Penelope & Damon). Love "staging" was just boring between them.

Geez this story was a great one. As a series and as a standalone though I really wish Blake ( or her Publisher if that's who gets the say ) would STOP with the epilogue being about the NEXT couple and not letting each story end with the focus on the couple in the actual story! That little trick of basically "reader get ready to buy the next book coming soon and here's your teaser" is too used car salesman.
Here we have the story of Damon, growl total supreme alpha tied with the perfection of the other main alpha of the series so far Ian aka Big Tag, and Pen who may be one of my favs in the series and in other writers similar genre writings. Pen's career of translator (various languages) is a plot device that works beautifully for how she translates Damon's often stupid diatribes...aka simply foolish scared alpha man speak. Often because while Blake gives us glimpses inside Damon's head, the reader figures out what Damon means because OF Pen's internal monologue as she works through his "go away, I don't care about you" which is really "I care about you so let me be a dick and scare you off to save you"...yeah, typical he-man stupid but when the he-man is totally alpha and in love...and the heroine is smart and kind...and the H/h scream hot ( which is the case here, good stuff) it's like fresh and new.
A reread for sure, not so sure about the next one Simon never 'did' it for me in the previous books...and if Blake down the road brings in her Virgin-12-way men and 1 shared woman crap from her other series, it's a total skip...but this tale is a praised nugget of wonderful.

Action, Suspense, Romance and Hot Sex

WOW! I couldn’t get enough of this book! It has something for everyone, action, suspense, romance and hot sex. I went through so many emotions reading Damon and Penelope’s story.
You will laugh, cry, get angry and then get all hot and bothered.

I laughed out loud at all the sarcastic things that come out of Ian Taggart’s mouth! You want to slap him, but through everything he says and does, you know he will always have their back and would do anything for his crew. Some of my favorites: (1) “Come on, Knight. I promise to send someone to assassinate you at least once a month. It’ll keep your adrenaline up.”
(2) Charlotte stared at her husband for a moment and then a brilliant smile crossed her face. “You should be so glad I love you.”
“I am, baby. You’re the only one who gets my charm.”
(3) “My sister?” Charlotte asked.”
“The bitch from hell?” Ian offered and immediately moved out of his wife’s reach. “She doesn’t like me, baby. She calls me Satan. It hurts my feelings.”

You will have a love-hate attraction to Damon. He’s not a good communicator but has no problem finding the words that will hurt Penny the most. I was angry by all the hurtful things he says to her and although Penelope is a strong woman, I cried for her every time Damon said the awful things he did to push her away. It was heartbreaking to read, I can’t even imagine what Lexi Blake went through writing it!

There are so many twists and turns in this story - you will get so caught up in the suspense that you won’t be able to put this book down! This was definitely one of the best in the Masters and Mercenaries Series.

Lexi Blake I swear she is one of my favorite authors. She knows how to make these hard ass Doms turn into mush for their lady. And the women who are weak and let everyone run them over turn into women who can handle anything when pushed just right by the right man.

This book was no different Damon was shot by his best friend and wanted nothing but revenge and we all know that can darken someone’s heart and soul. Everyone in Damon’s life has always left him and he wasn’t looking for love or looking for anything but a good fuck. Sometimes the way he treated Penelope made me want to throttle him, but he felt so horrible afterwards I couldn’t continue to feel that way. He was so loveable, dependable, honest, and open all those things you need in a Dom. (I have to say Ian will always be my favorite. But Damon is so close.)

Penelope this is a real women. She stood by Damon even when Damon was saying things to her that there would be no way I could’ve stayed. She understood him right away she knew some of the things he did was an act and she wanted to find the real him. And boy when she found him neither she nor he wanted to let each other go. And that is what a women does she stands by her man through thick and thin. Be his partner when he thinks he doesn’t need one and hold his hand when he is about to fall. Men need to be given strength also.

I can’t say enough good things about Lexi Blake! I can’t wait for this series to continue. Simon and Chelsea are next!!!!

I absolutely adored this book! You will fall in love with Damon! I sure did! I love all of Lexi's characters. That is why this is one of my favorite series. They are all unique and lovable. It is always refreshing to read about a heroine that is not physically perfect because I know, I sure ain't and I can relate to them! I have one word for the alpha males that love their women curvy! HOT! I mean WOW! The chemistry and passion in this book will leave you blushing! It's packed full of adventure and will keep you on your toes! The McKay-Taggart Team are in full force and ready to take on anything. Danger is coming from all sides and trust is not easily placed. Damon Knight is trying to recover from not only a terrible injury but the betrayal of his partner and best friend. He has lost so many people in his life. He sets himself apart for fear of losing more. Penelope Cash longs for someone to love her for her. She has been living to please others her whole life and has forgotten about herself. Until she steps out of her comfort zone and accepts an offer to go undercover as Damon's Submissive.
Damon and Penelope are trying to solve a new threat and find that together they may have a future if only he can keep her alive and she can get her stubborn Dom to admit he loves her. You will not be disappointed in this book. This is one of those books you will want to re-read and won't stop thinking about!
I received an ARC for an honest review.

Really, really good! I wanted to super love it, but there was something about Damon that felt....off
Penelope is a wonderfully, fallible, smart, sweet, kind, and unbelievably normal person with a really interesting job. Damon is a spy, and we've seen glimpses of him, and he is a hard-ass, and all the purely alpha-male, dominant and tough personality traits that go with that. That is the good part of him, I think what felt off was his secret longing to his wussy side. There had to be a way he could want Penelope as partner to life without seeming kinda weak about it. And then, he just caved, I was rather shocked!

Now, that being said, that didn't take away from the story, the hotness, the relationship or the awesomeness of the book. Damon is pure male and Penny realizes she is the perfect female for him. When she realizes her ability to 'translate' what Damon is saying, it is truly a swoon worthy moment!

Read it in one day!!!!

Penelope is a translator for MI6. Damon is an operative for MI6. He was shot in the chest 7 months ago by his ex friend and barely come out alive. When Damon is forced to go undercover with Penelope as a Dom/sub couple, Damon teaches her all about the D/s life. While searching for the scientist, Damon's ex partner/friend wants the scientist too. And when he threatens Penelope, Damon will do anything to keep her safe even try to get her to back out of the assignment by being cruel to her. But she is tired of being a doormat so she pulls up her big girl panties and shows him what she's really made of.
This is an edgy, sexy, couldn't put it down book. I laughed, and even tho they were British and I didn't understand some if the words, it is a Freaking Awesome book!!! Can't wait to read Simon & Chelsea's story.

Whenever I start a Masters and Mercenaries book I always smile because I know I am guaranteed a fast paced, action packed, intriguing, romance with edge of your seat moments and laugh out loud moments that keep me turning the page. This was love story set against an international threat of bio-terrorism that involved not only McKay-Taggart but SIS, CIA and the German secret service.

Damon Knight has lost everyone who ever mattered to him so when it came time that he needed a female operative as a partner he tried everything he could think of to keep Penelope Cash from taking the job. Penelope could not fathom that a man such as Damon would want anything to do with her. He was so far out of her league. It's not all smooth sailing and ends up being incredibly dangerous but Penelope understands her man and Damon gets his woman.

I love this series by Lexi Blake. This is Damon and Penelope's story. At the end of the previous book in the series, Damon was seriously injured. A new assignment has come up but he will need to pair up with a sub as a cover. Penelope has lusted after Damon for quite some time. They both work for MI6. There is romance, sex and suspense in this book as in all of the books in this series. The supporting characters in this book were fantastic. This series needs to be read in order as there is a lot of interaction between all of the characters that you wouldn't understand if read out of order. Ms Blake has a fantastic sense of humor in all her books and this one is no exception. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

*4+ Stars*

Loved this one! Especially Penelope - she was great! It was wonderful to see her confidence grow and for her to reach for what she wanted. Damon was stubborn, but that was to be expected. He was also pretty wonderful, once we got to see inside him some and to see him through Penelope's eyes. Really good story too, I really enjoyed the ride! I can't wait to read more, even more after that teaser at the end!

I listened to the audio with Ryan West narrating and really enjoyed it. He did such a good job with all the different characters and accents! I want this series to come out faster in audio!!

This book provides the start of the London office of McKay Taggart, introducing several new characters in the series. I can admire Penelope Cash, but Damon Knight really comes across as an idiot. Of course this is in line with most of the series, where the man may be doing dangerous and important security work, but in the end, they always need the women to save the day.
As far as the story goes, the superspy plot is a bit too much, with lots of unexpected plot changes and too little room for the development of Penelope from prim doormat worrying about what others think, to a confident submissive that is proud of what her body can do for her master.
