It wasn’t meant to be this way—she shouldn’t have fallen for my brother and left me for him. But she did. And now I’m left to pick up the pieces of my shattered, broken heart. And to top it off, they want me to come to their wedding. Do they think I’m a pushover? Do they think of me as a joke?
The old saying stands true, ‘Why have enemies when you can have family.’
I understand it now, better than I ever have in my life.
There’s one unexpected surprise though: Storm. She blew in just like one and makes the pain diminish. She’s exactly as her name describes her—she is a storm. A beautiful and powerful one.
But not all things are meant to last. Like a storm that wreaks havoc, some things cause anguish, and in my life she may very well be one of them.

Exes and other things!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: ☺️🤬🥵😘

The heroine: Storm - was with her childhood sweetheart for years, when she found out he was cheating. So she pulled up stakes and started a new life with a new job in another city. Though she has been doing nothing but work for months on end. When her friend comes to town to raise her spirits and get her out.

The Hero(s): Echo - One of the owners of the Crimson Elite. One of the most exclusive sex clubs in the world. Where the rich and famous come to play and expect extreme privacy. Echo lost his last girlfriend to his twin brother. His family have always seen his brother as one who could do no wrong and treat Echo like the red headed stepchild.

The Story: Echo and Storm meet at a bar and have a one-night stand. He is her 10 out of 10. So when he tracks her down the next day, she is afraid to say yes to another encounter. Though she asks herself why not? They start a benefits only relationship. No questions, no learning about each other, no friends.

However, when Echo gets an invitation to his brother’s wedding, he wants to bring Storm. It is a screwed up situation with his twin marrying his ex and his parents looking down on him the entire time while they praise their favorite son up to the heavens.

The narration was good, but Ted Branson sounded pretty whiny and angry. Though it certainly hit what the character was thinking and feeling, it wasn’t very becoming for a Hero in a romance. I liked Echo quite a bit better in Cavalier.

⭐️ 4 "Perfect Ten" Stars ⭐️
After all the praise I had for Cavalier, the first novel in the Crimson Elite Series, I was expecting something equally riveting from T.L. Smith. I feel kind of bad to admit that Anguished disappointed me a little. As a romance reader, I expect a certain chemistry between the main couple and when I don’t feel this connection, it really lessens my enjoyment of a book. Echo’s story didn’t completely won me over for that reason, but I still had a good time reading it.

"He's my perfect ten."

Echo and Storm are interesting individuals and the drama in their lives kept me entertained all read long though. Even if I wanted more sparks between them, I still enjoyed the growing of their relationship and the way they were together. Storm is an interesting heroine that is in command and knows what she wants. She’s so supportive of Echo and get invested in what he goes through personally. I enjoyed her thoughtfulness and caring side as much as her fierceness. Echo is still the cocky guy we met in Cavalier, but with a deeper facet that is quite touching. He’s still hurting form his breakup with his ex-girlfriend, but also the treatment of his family. I really felt for him!

I enjoyed the guys of Crimson Elite acting once again together as brothers more than friends. They’re really a loyal group, all so different but always there to help.

"The problem is that I'm not worried about those marks anymore, it's the one on my heart that troubles me the most. He's leaving an impression. And he's a ten... This was doomed from the beginning."

I appreciated this read, but wasn't completely satisfied with it! Creed is still my man, but I’m really excited for Falcon’s story and hope it reaches my expectations! Since book one he intrigued me so much! Hopefully, T.L. Smith will come back with another winner read for me with the next novel.

“We taste each other like old lovers who have been found. And we hold onto each other as if we’re looking for a new beginning.”

This book really did a number on me. IMO it is an excellent masterpiece that doesn’t miss a beat. Anguished is from now on, together with Lotus, my absolute favourite book by TL Smith. It’s pure perfection. Anguished is a dream that came true for a romance reader’s heart!

“Men like him aren’t made, they’re dreamt about. And that’s where he will stay in my dreams.”

Storm’s and Echo’s story is passionate, it’s hot and steamy, it’s full of funny banter, a character-match made in heaven. Not only did TL Smith set a perfect pace: a perfect mix of thrill, panty dropping scenes, action, heartache, character and relationship development. She set a whole new reading experience standard for her upcoming books. Not once it came to my mind to put down this book.

“Heart meet Echo. Your perfect ten. But if you fall for him, I swear I will tear you out with my bare hands.”

It was alarmingly easy to get invested in Storm and Echo. I continuously wanted to hug them, to slap them, to kiss them. But most of all I wished for them to be real. Seriously, they are a couple that you won’t meet every day. They are special and I already decided I’ll name my next pair of cats after them. LOL.

“This is the place between heaven and hell. That sweet ecstasy everyone craves, but only dream of.”

Echo is definitely from another planet. Not only does he look like he could be voted the sexiest man alive for several years in a row, but he’s the perfect amount of alpha, confident, smart, charming, enigmatic. A guy with a broken heart you can’t help to fall for.

Storm is incredible. I don’t have other words for her. She’s beautifully strong minded, confident, stands up for what she believes, cares deeply for the people she loves. And she’s not afraid to speak up to an intimidating man like Echo.

I love as they give into their off the charts attraction and chemistry and how they fight hard not to fall for the other. But that’s a thing that’s doomed to happen right from their first encounter. It’s a ride you can’t and don’t want to escape from. It captures your whole mind and doesn’t leave you until you turn the last page.

Together, Echo and Storm are a force that yet has to be named. They are both magnetic, they attract your attention like they are the centre of the universe.

“… her fingers brushing me like she wants to dance with fire, but first wants to test the flames to see if it will burn. I plan to burn.”

Reading Anguished is like hitting the perfect wave. The one that you waited for like a dream. The one you need to let yourself fall for, letting yourself get carried away without thinking too much. Enjoying the splashes of water in your face when the wave breaks and just live in the moment.

“… you’re more than my first choice, you’re my dream choice, my only choice.”

I’d like to end this review with a quote the book closes with:

“My forever ten.”

Welcome to the hotness that is Crimson Elite.
4 hot guys, 4 best friends, 4 love story's.

Anguished is the 2nd book in the series and contains Echo's story.
I loved Echo, he was sexy, alluring, charming, an alpha male with a dirty mouth but he also had a hint of vulnerability when it came to his love life.

"He was more than a ten, trust me, Mel. Men like him aren't made, they're dreamt about. And that's where he will stay in my dreams"

Storm and Echo first meet in a club, there is an instant attraction between them and they get it on in a back room. Both of them want nothing more than one night, both have been burned in relationships in the past and both have their quick way with one another and go there separate ways. Storm leaves without even giving Echo her name.
Storm is ballsy, she's a woman with backbone, a redhead with fire and she got what she wanted, a night with a hot guy to take her mind of her douche of an ex but when she can't find her ID she then realizes her one time fling knows all her details and possibly has her card.

Echo too wanted just a one night stand but he can't get the redhead out of his mind and uses her ID card in exchange for seconds.

From this point, It's cat and mouse all the way with lots of angst and drama in the mix, family dramas, jealous ex's. I couldn't put it down and the hotness.... prepare to fan yourself.

Another great addition to the series, I found Anguished a lot lighter to read than Cavalier, Creed was an intense character, I loved Creed and Echo who are both completely different and I can't wait to read the next book to see what TL Smith brings next.

The club the guys run is still a mystery to me, there's no more info on the club other than it's a secret sex club and for Elite customers and each of the guys have their own role in the running of it. The plot focuses more on the characters and what is going on in their love lives or private lives rather than the workplace. I suppose it's like reading a hockey romance and there's not a bat or ball in sight, same thing, they run a sex club but you don't see the action. I'm kind of glad about that, I've had my fill of sex club books.

I'm digressing, in a nutshell, I loved it and I am excited about the next book.

Anguished is book two in the Crimson Elite series.
Crimson Elite follows Creed, Echo, Darby and Falcon as they work together in their club Crimson Elite and navigate the test of falling in love.

This book is following Echo and I’m just going to put this out here right now... He is my ten! I love him so much. Echo had me laughing out loud, swooning and sighing so much I got lost in the world of Crimson Elite.

Echo is a tortured soul who has never been priority to his family. They have always favoured his twin brother and that’s left him with scars. When his first love then picks his twin over Echo.... get ready for an angry alpha.

His friends.... his real family are there to help him pick up the pieces and I love the banter between Echo, Darby and Falcon, with Creed giving out the love advise now he has found his perfect ten.

I loved Creed’s book but I must say this one just did it for me! I knew when I read book one that I would love Echo and he didn’t disappoint.

Storm was a great heroine with a backbone, she was strong and didn’t just give in... which I love in a heroine. She just wants a hook-up but Echo has other plans when he can’t get Red out of his head.

Read to discover the journey that Echo and Storm go on. It’s a sexy, fast paced, addicting read.

This book started to lose me. I enjoyed the beginning and there was steam, but I started lose interest because I felt there was nothing emotionally keeping me attached to this book.

I can understand where the author was going with this story, but I just don’t think it was right for me. I loved the narrators though! They did a great job and they kept me from dnf

But not all things are meant to last. Like a storm that wreaks havoc, some things cause anguish, and in my life she may very well be one of them.

Let's start off by saying this is a brand new author for us and we really enjoyed our first read by them .The only thing we disliked is we wish that the author had written and Epilogue. I strongly dislike authors that end books just like this author did as we love seeing a glimpse into the future especially if the romance was a rocky road to get to a happily ever after.

We really loved the character's Storm and Echo (love their names) they were a lot of fun and both of them had vibrant personalities which we love.

Storm's character's was a hoot ! We found her to be strong, successful, smart, independent, caring funny, and one of those women who doesn't even know her own sex appeal."We loved her from the very beginning!"

Echo-We love his name! We found Echo to be a little bit broken, successful, sexual, funny, has trouble letting go of the past but, most of all we loved the person he was when he was with Storm as she always brought out his best qualities.

We love the other character's as well like Darby,Falcon,Creed all had different personalities some of them light and funny, others all serious like and others dark and dangerous.

The plot had a lot going on in it along with a complicated love triangle between two twin brothers and one crazy chick. lol The story came with tons if ups and downs but, what we loved most of all is that no matter what Echo's friends who he considered his brothers always had his back. The story definitely kept you engrossed in the drama and suspense the entire time and I will say I wanted to kick the crap out of Echo's entire family for being so blind more than once. lol

Overall the story was enjoyable and we loved getting to know all the character's and we can't wait to read Darby's,Falcon's and Creed's story. This was one fun read that was full of tons of chemistry and had really hot sexual interludes as well as making us laugh out loud time and time again.I really think we are really going to love this series.

We recommend the read to all !
We are looking forward to reading more of this author's works !

Sooooo... I’m thinking I may have one of the unpopular opinions here. But I’ve been so excited and looking forward to Echo’s book. I just wanted to know his story so bad. I needed to know what drove him to be the way he was—leaving and taking all that time away from everyone, even his friends, near Cavalier’s ending. I expected a steamy, yet emotion-filled book for Echo here. Yes, it was definitely chock-full of heat, but that’s the thing—that was it. And I just had such a hard time grasping the emotional side of things all throughout.

The storyline had a huge potential. I saw where it was going, felt where the author wanted to take the reader, but it just never reached nor hit that peak I’m looking for. The emotions were there, but it didn’t strike me as deep as I wanted—and expected—this story to either. It was just missing the impact that I craved and loved so much in Creed’s book, Cavalier.

Sadly, I struggled connecting with both Echo and Storm. Storm started out strong, being an independent girl wanting to start over and have some fun. But once the conflict of the story arose, I just lost her. I didn’t like the way she acted and reacted to things at all. And with Echo, I already know he’s pretty messed up and broken—and that was okay. He even kind of took my heart with him when the reason for the way he was was revealed. But I still ended up feeling like he didn’t try hard enough, which eventually caused him so many of his relationships with those he loves.

I feel like Echo and Storm needed so much character development after reading this. They just had this blatant immaturity to them that I didn’t take all that well and caused this book to fall flat for me. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Cavalier and will continue reading this series. Anguished really just wasn’t for me.

I listened to this book on Audible and I loved it! This is Echoes story and it is a roller coaster. He is so funny in the other books but it’s because of heartache. He has a dysfunctional family and a crazy ex. His friends are like brothers and they are all gorgeous.
Storm and her best friend go to a club and Storm meets Echo. He wanted to know her name but she left the club.
I just really enjoyed this series and I know I will listen 🎧 to it again. Their are tastefully written love scenes and a happily ever after.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I got attached to guys of Crimson during book be so I was more then ready to get my hands on Echo's story. I was not disappointed as we dive deep into his messed up family and the crazy chick that plays games with them all. Her antics led him to Storm who was supposed to be a be night stand. This leads to an on arrangement that ends up being so much more. It was like the romance stereo type in reverse which is a nice change. Not guys, great writing, and romance you can get attached to. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

This Book is hot hot hot!

Echo and Storm are fire together!
There's no excessive drama, both Mc are mature, so things flow easily! They start has fu*k buddies and things evolve!!
The sex club is still not feature in this book!

Again this should be the first book of the series, we got a little more of Creed dark demure!

I have been anxiously awaiting Echo's story since meeting him in Cavalier. I just knew, without a doubt, that I would absolutely love this beautiful and tormented soul.

Echo hasn't had an easy go at life. He is the black sheep of his family. Nothing he does is ever good enough and honestly he is sick of trying. He will never measure up to his golden boy twin brother. His one constant in life besides his best friends is Serena, the love of his life. At least until she decides to dump him for his brother. Feeling lost and betrayed, he turns to the bottle to help dull the pain.

One night, while out at the club, he meets Storm and there is an immediate attraction. After some flirting, they end up in one of the back rooms having sizzling hot sex. Both having been burned in relationships recently, neither are looking for more than just the one night. In fact, as soon as they finish, Storms rushes off before Echo can even get her name. That's unfortunate too because he can't stop thinking about her and decides he must see her again.

Storm is a feisty, sassy and strong-willed redhead. She knew what she wanted and that's exactly what she got. One night with a sexy guy for some fun, no strings attached sex. When she gets home, she discovers that her ID is nowhere to be found. She begins to worry that Echo may have found it and she will be forced to face him once again. He was a ten. The best she's ever had. Will she be able to resist his allure when she seem him again?

Anguished is a story that is full of angst, family drama, a crazy ex and some steamy hot sexy times. What Echo & Storm have is an explosive, all-consuming love and I couldn't help but to fall head over heels for them. Well done T.L. Smith! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next.

To be totally honest after being introduced to Echo in Cavalier, I wasn’t all that sure I liked him that much. I didn’t dislike him however he didn’t seem to be a character with a lot of backbone to me. Oh how wrong I was, I am not afraid to admit.

Echo Brown, after having his heart broken by his ex, meets Storm Hale, a professional young woman who unbeknownst to him has had the same happen to her. Forming a purely physical relationship can’t hurt, can it?

Echo is at times quite a complicated character yet at other times we see he’s not. You honestly can’t help but like him straight away and feel sorry for him after everything he’s been through and continues to go through with that family of his, boy what a family. See, I really misinterpreted his character in book one entirely! Storm is such a strong character, I liked her and could relate to her very easily.Echo was so right when he said she had a ‘sharp personality’.

The way this author uses words to describe scenes, especially intimate ones, is almost indescribable. 🤦🏻‍♀️ The sentences themselves flow so well together that they are not only emotive but also memorable. They aren’t necessarily fancy words or exceptionally long sentences but they are masterfully pieced together to create vivid images.

Although there are some deeper, more intense issues explored in the story, there is also a good dose of humour. Whether it’s sarcastic wit between the four partners or fun banter between other characters, it is a light relief that makes you smile.

Another sensational story by this author, bring on book 3!

~Jess

Going into this I had already met Echo and was interested in getting into his head and wanting to understand his long bouts away to the beach. I knew he was jaded and a bit damaged and I wanted to know why.

I don't know that I fully expected the awfulness of his family or the way in which he got to where he is now. What a mess it all is; his ex, his brother and now a wedding. Echo likes to drink away the pain but the problems are still there in the morning.

Then comes Storm, who like her name comes into his life like a Storm. She is successful and content with her lonely nights. She does not want love, she doesn't even want full-time and then comes Echo. Breaking all of the rules and making her feel things even though she knows she shouldn't.

The push and pull and "not dates" made this a sexy and interesting read. I really loved Storm, she was strong and fierce. And of course I loved Echo, I wanted him to see what was in front of him and move away from his past. I enjoyed the drama, it was just the right amount and made the story more engaging. I am really enjoying this band of brothers who own the Crimson Elite. They all harbor secrets and issues and I can't wait to uncover them all.

Amount of sex 4 / 5
How explicit is the sex scenes 4 / 5
Story 5 / 5
Overall: 5 / 5

I love this series!

Crimson Elite is a sex club owned by four best friends, Creed, Echo, Darby, and Falcon.  The books can be read as standalone romances, although I do recommend reading them in order. Cavalier is the first book, which tells Creed’s story. I believe by starting at the beginning of the series, it will help you understand the backstories better and give you a better foundation.  Anguished is the second book in the series, which tells us Echo’s story.  I really love all the guys, but Echo is my new book boyfriend!

The story starts off with Echo’s heart being broken, and on top of that, he has a whole lot of family drama. Echo’s buddies, Darby and Falcon, take him out to de-stress and maybe meet some girls.  It is there that he meets Storm and she just rocks his world.  Soon, he begins to question his feelings and takes a good look at his life.  Will Echo realizes too late who his forever ten is before he loses her?

Absolutely freaking loved this book and can’t wait for the next in the series!

Well, this series is getting better and better! This is Echo’s story. He’s the eternal romantic of the group. He’s in love with the idea of being in love, even if it means loving the wrong person.

His ex was just that. She did a real number on him. He’s in turmoil until he meets Storm, who turns his world upside down.

She’s independent, sassy and looking for some no-strings fun. Given all the crap in his life, he jumps at the chance. The chemistry between the two of them just burns up the pages.

Somewhere along the way, no-strings isn’t enough for Storm any more. Echo has to get his life in order if he wants more of Storm.

This book just drew me in, line by line, until I could not put it down. Echo is such a complex character, whereas Storm is so straightforward. The Yin to his Yang, they compliment each other so well.

This series promised so much and is really delivering on that promise. The world of the Crimson Elite is delicious, decadent and dirty and I’m loving every minute of it.

This man has the patience of a saint.
Loved this book it had passion and excitement and a lots of electricity. The Sparks was flaring around these two from the moment there eyes meet towards the end.

They both had some big baggage, him with it horrible ex-girlfriend and his brother and let’s not forget this
judge mental parents and her with her ex-boyfriend cheating on her. They hade both lot themselves so when the start this casual fling it just seemed right.

This book really inspired me as a woman because she was so headstrong, confident and real Business woman how had climb the way up to the top on her own merits.

There were definitely bumps along to ride in this book very you feel sorry for him and just wanted to hug him. She even let him wait a week at a time between there dates with in my opinion makes him a saint. He had definitely patience with her because he knew she was it which was really beautiful.

Book two in the series and it just keeps getting better. I adored Echo and Selena's story. It was witty and fast paced with an addictive storyline with enough sexual heat to set the pages on fire. I love how the author made Selena such a strong character, she's a successful career woman. An independent woman who knows her own worth and isn't afraid to go for what she wants or to step back from something that isn't good for her. Echo was a surprise purely because I didn't expect him to be so vulnerable whilst still retaining his more dominant side.

Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

In Anguished you have Echo another owner of the club who has been snapping at everyone after his ex gets involved with his twin brother.

When he meets the fiery red head Storm she lives up to her name and leaves him reeling.

Echo also has family issues where he feels he’s never chosen or respected. So when Storm sees him as her perfect 10, he feels seen.

While they may start with only benefits they can’t deny when the storm passes through neither will be left standing!

This one had less of the dark side of the club and more an Alpha sweetheart chasing his perfect fit.

After the first book in the series I was hooked and I wasn’t sure how she would top Elicia and Creed’s story. BUT she DID!!!! I’m not sure I have the right words for Storm and Echo. What quickly turned from a one night stand, to just sex (when needed of course) and then so.much.more. And I mean that in the best possible way. These 2 kept me captivated and hanging on for more! This series is definitely one of my new favorites!

A really enjoyable story. The characters and bantering grabbed me immediately. And the snapping and snarling made me gasp with wonder. The passionate storyline was phenomenal, it’s brilliant, fun dialogue keeps on going until the end, and it had deep lessons to learn. Anguished is a definite must read and will become a favourite for me I’m sure.
I highly recommend this book!
