Will he find a way…

Kick is in love. Their love is the kind of love that transcends time and pain. When his love, Drusey, is murdered before his eyes, Kick falls into a desperate depression. After his young loves murder, Kick is captured by her murderer, Baratium Mezacain. Barat as he’ll become known, is bent not only on world domination, but the very destruction of all gargoyle and human life.
Barat needs powerful mages to complete his dream of extermination and dominance. To that end, Kick is forced to help the powerful Barat by torturing his gargoyle friends, thereby helping the mad-mage build his wooden-robotic army of Crafted. Yet, even in the darkest depths of that depression, the innermost being of Kick fights on.
Kick compromises himself in every way possible, with one end in sight, the destruction of Barat and his henchmen as well as the protection of all peoples opposed to the unfolding tyranny. Even though Kick never gives up a fight, this fight isn’t one he can win. He makes the only intelligent decision he can, by trying to starve himself to death, thus denying Barat one of his most valuable tools.
Unbeknownst to Kick, Barat had already been trapped in a glass prison for eternity by his former queen of the Ceorfan, Leta. Without a moment to spare, Barat’s evil master henchman, Walter Deveros, finds Kick on the verge of death and orders him placed in a magical coma. He follows that example, entering the druid sleep himself. The only thing that will wake Walter and eventually Kick is when word begins to spread that the glass prison containing Barat had been found.
When found, hundreds of years have passed. Now Walter needs Kick and his mage friends, Peter and Steen, to help exhume the mad-mage so they can continue with the extermination of all life that Barat deems useless.
Will Kick be able to fight the torture, the drug and sex addictions from the beautiful satyratrix’s and help he and his friends escape? Or, will they be forced to help the evil Barat escape and watch as he destroys the new gargoyle queen along with the rest of humanity?

My name is Miki Ward. I like to build people up, and so do my characters, even amid violence and bloodshed - don't worry its fiction. I'm the author of The Phantom Queen among other works. My books are reverse harem, myths, urban fantasy, and paranormal romance for readers who crave a few extra men in relationships, not just one poor pitiful partner. My stories include not just sexual tension but fire. Some are burn in your spirit hot, some are slow burn, and one I call sweet and clean. I co-write with my brother... yes, think about that, it's crazy! I also have written with KA Morse and have a WIP with her about a manic multi-personality demon infested wizard. I have another co-write with the hall of fame author Timothy Perico. That book is an epic civil war romance that will capture your heart. I'll be glad to answer your questions. Come visit me. You can find me on Facebook and my group is called Miki & Mine. I'd love to add you to my family but be warned it might get hot!

This story is a stand-alone, but it binds neatly into the stories of the Ceorfan World. It is helpful if you have already some knowledge of their world, but not nexessary.
Kick has his whole life before him. His beloved gargoyle lady just accepted to be his mate when everything changes. Kick is captured by a dark mage and forced with spells and drugs to do their bidding. When he finally realises how far he went, he starts fighting back.
The story gives a lot of background information to understand the history of the Ceorfan better and to see how far the enemy goes to destroy the Ceorfan Guild.
A good read, entertaining, but also thrilling and revealing, if you already know some of the Ceorfan stories.

I love this series!

This was a great story. It was enlightening to get Kick's side of things and read what happened, how it all happened and all the horror that Kick went through. Miki and Garrett Ward are amazingly imaginative and bring gargoyles, and magic to life, this story and the series it is from is a completely original one. I highly recommend if you enjoy the paranormal.

First, just want to say that I have read other works of the author and was very pleased and impressed. Unfortunately, this book was just not for me. This is a very slow paced story. I was struggling to finish the book. Some parts of the story were better than others. The pace was just way too slow for my liking. At some parts of the story I really believed I could give this a high ranking review, but then it would slow down to the point I felt the story was not progressing. Because it was not a bad story I will give it a 3 1/2 stars. I still have not been able to reach the end; I got stuck at 75% of the story. I hope to finish the story...eventually.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but it in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

Holy shiznet!!! I couldn't put this down. I stayed up all night to each he ending, only to want to read more. So, I'm being the boy in the story that says "more please". My emotions went crazy, first I was so happy for Kick, then my heart bros for him, and I was so devastated for him and Peter & Steen. I can't wait to read the next story. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up

My Tormented Mage was a very interesting read, and I give it a solid 4.5. The story itself is at a slow pace, slower than I usually like, but it is very imaginative and of course I love reading a good gargoyle book. MTM is where we get Kick's side of the story. Which is in the Ceofan Gargoyles series, and is great addition. If you enjoy a very descriptive magical read, this series is for you.
