A Product of the System

Rate this book
Simone knows if she plays with fire, she runs the risk of getting burned, but she just can't help herself. Living large off the paternity scam of a lifetime, she has two baby daddies cashing her out for her infant son. Even her own best friends are getting tired of her low-down, manipulative ways.

Unfortunately, the streets begin to talk, and the out-for-self mother's luck taps out. Not in the mood for apologies, each man wants his child support back in pure blood, no matter who gets hurt or who gets in the way.

When Simone's meal ticket son gets older, he discovers he is no more than a pawn and a product of the system. This dramatic tale by street lit master Ms. Michel Moore shows that family can turn on you fast, sometimes even before strangers.

This book was good. The drama kept me hooked from page one. Simone was so crazy and I loved every second of it. Simone lived her life scamming whichever man she could to get whatever money she could. During her scamming ways, she gets her child, herself, and two hood dudes caught up in a deadly situation. This book details the ramifications of her deadly decision.

I really enjoyed the first half of this audiobook. Simone's over-the-top scheming and drama had me hooked right from the start. Her paternity scam was so outrageous yet Moore made it work. The narrator did a great job bringing Moore's chaotic characters to life and infusing the story with energy.

However, the second half of the book lost my interest. Once the scam fell apart, the plot just seemed to drag on without much direction. The drama that initially pulled me in started to feel repetitive. While I loved hated the manipulative Simone at the outset, she became tiresome as the book progressed. The narration remained strong throughout but couldn't save the slower pacing and lack of plot development after the big reveal. I'd recommend this for fans of scandalous soap opera-style drama, but be prepared for it to lose steam halfway.

The character Simone in this book, keeps making you want to bang her in her face! She has two guys thinking they are her son's father. But what's done in the dark, comes to the light; but what takes place when it comes to the light is the problem. And of course what follows after that is the issue. You gotta read it to see what I'm talking about. I'm glad there is a second book.

Simone was scandalous as hell for a mother. She only care about herself and what it was that she could get and used her only child. To have 2 different guys thinking that Terrell was his son when in fact all along she knew who the father was. This story is almost one of those stories that in fact happens in real life. Sad what happened to Lil T all because of his mother's ways. Then to lose both her cash cows was something she never fathom until it happened, but did she even try to change her ways?

Pleasure read

I love that this hometown author was able to intermix and entwine individual stories without repeating herself. Looking forward to part two.

It really has folks living, thinking and existing just like this…. Very unaware that if they want to do better, then they are able… Accountability and Boundaries are far from their mental capacity

This was a decent read. It was captivating in the beginning although the ending could have been better if you continue the series it should come full circle

This was a crazy story that I wasn't sure where it was going from beginning to end. There was so much drama, what I thought was the main plot of the story, turned out to be something else. There were a lot of trifling characters and some not deserving of their fates. Either way, I enjoyed it.
