Another volume, another battle with a Vanguard of the Waves. We get a new party member and get to see some pretty cool power ups. The revelations from this volume open things up quite a bit and I’m curious how things will play out from here.
The one who assumed the name of God has to be devastatingly powerful of his minions are people as strong as Syne’s sister (someone Naofumi and co constantly struggle against). I wish we could learn a little more about the big bad, but the trickling info we’ve received isn’t too bad. Suspense and all that jazz. Hopefully I can get the next one soon so I can see what comes next.
There is a part in this book where a certain character really gets everything that's been coming to her for a very, very long time, and it's really kind of satisfying. Beyond that, this book feels kind of same-y with several other books in the series. It's nothing great or original, but seeing that character finally get a bit of justice sent her way brought this one up from 3 stars to 4 for me.
These books are a weakness of mine. I've invested in these characters emotionally. Many of the technical details really don't make sense to me but the action is good and progress is slowly being made so I'm in for the long haul.

The whole book left me wondering… what did I just read? Way too many characters. The main three seem to be forgotten about. The synopsis on the back made it seem more interesting then it actually was. Not one of the better installments.
Looking forward to the next arc. The story beats are starting to get repetitive but small bits of growth continue for the characters underneath all the conflict and banter.
3.5/5 ⭐️ Having to fight a carbon copy of the bad guy over and over again is getting kinda old at this point.
Bitch’s deaths was satisfying.
The fact that everyone close to Naofumi is getting special legendary weapons is so… meh 🫤. Sure it was cool when Raphtalia got her legendary katana weapon but later everyone started getting legendary weapons like Rishia, Fohl and now the killer whale sisters… plus every one else in Kizuna’s world. It’s like they said in The Incredibles “When everyone super, nobody is.” by Syndrome
