Alexia is a woman with more than a handful of skeletons in her closet. However, she's soon to discover that her troubles are only just beginning, and she'll have to draw upon sources of power and magic she never dreamed she possessed, in order to ensure her survival and discover her true purpose.

Following a series of shocking twists and discoveries, tinged by tragedy and in which Alexia's horizons are broadened to unimaginable lengths, she finds herself plunged into a world of myth and magic, and warlocks, witches, gods, and demons. Who can be trusted? Who - or what - is pursuing her, and filling her mind with dreams of her own demise? What part does she have to play in the fate of a world she never knew existed? All of these questions are thrust upon Alexia as she awakens herself, her inner strength, and a source of mystic power that takes her through past lives, into occult and arcane worlds, and lays her destiny out before her.

This was a delightful read! It starts off with Alexia, a woman plagued by constant nightmares about her own death, trying to mind her business at work while everyone seems to be hell-bent on turning her life into a nightmare. But the worst is yet to come as Alexia gets into a bad car accident, which may very well kill her. However, she wakes up in a place, where everything - her past, her nightmares, even the voice which used to speak to her from the depths of her own mind - suddenly starts making sense. After her memory is returned to her and the sacred ritual is complete, Alexia finds herself in the hospital, brimming not only with a new power but a great responsibility as well, which may cost her her very life…
Once I picked up this book, I couldn’t turn pages fast enough as the events, unraveling before my eyes, made me feel completely immersed in the magic world of goddesses and warlocks. The world of supernatural was so masterfully interwoven with the real world that I really couldn’t get enough of it, and particularly when yet another God or Goddess made their appearance. All of the characters were incredibly interesting, starting with Alexia herself and her new “sisters” - Remi and Jezzinta - and finishing with Alexia’s stern boss who undergoes quite a drastic change as the events start unfolding. Gripping and very well-written, this book is perfect for all fans of the genre. Highly recommended!

If you are into fantasy books with Witches, Gods, Angels and terrifying nightmares then here is a great book for you. This woman's destiny is one spine tingling thrill. But She has so much to offer, Even when some of the people in her life are the stuff of nightmares. If we could figure out this ahead of time we would all be better off. And the death of people we love is not easy. I love all the questions she asks herself because I have done the same... WHY?
An all around awesome book.

I loved all the questions that arose in the beginning of this book, most of which were mysterious and dark. Why is the protagonist, Al (Alexia), constantly dreaming of dying? Why does she hate herself so much of have such a poor relationship with her boss and coworkers? Why does she receive a strange note warning her that others know about her? Stories that begin this way are so enticing for me, and I was drawn into the book immediately.
There were a few things I found a little unnecessary, such as Alexia’s prolonged orgasm when she is involved in a ritual, but otherwise, the author has constructed a fascinating and believable world, layered with magic, energies, gods, goddesses and spirits, and has peopled it with well-developed and interesting characters. The story moves along at a nice pace, with enough action to keep me interested, but also enough time to allow for some character development as well as allowing us a glimpse at some of the character’s back stories.
Overall, this is a good book for lovers of witches and the world of the paranormal, those who enjoy strong friendship bonds in their books, and also readers who like a few steamy, sexy scenes thrown into the mix.

This was an exciting read with witches, gods, angels, friendship, and destiny. Alexia lives a troubled life at first, distancing herself from most people and plagued by horrible nightmares of her dying. All that changes when she's in a car crash with her horrible boss on the way back from a business meeting and she finds out she has a past and a destiny.

The book held my attention right up until the explosive end. I could see I was already at 100%, but I was dying to know if the message "not all is what is seems" meant what I hoped it meant after that epic battle. I still hope it does and am desperate to read book 2 to find out more about the story and the characters

A Wild Ride

Mistreated and misunderstood, we join Alexia Semiramis as her rough life is about to get a whole lot tougher. Hunted by the warlock responsible for her grandmother’s death, Alexia suddenly finds herself in possession of considerable memories and powers, neither of which she has full access to right away.

But with the help of reforged connections, Alexia begins to unravel the mystery of her importance, the meaning of events in her life, the powers at play, and what’s at stake in this deadly and magical world she’s been brought back in to.

The pace varies, but be prepared - because when there is action things happen fast. And while Alexia finds her power in more ways than one, she still has a long journey ahead to discover her role in bringing about the current situation and how to use her knowledge and power to save the ones she loves.

Awakened is a brilliant start of this exciting series and there is so much to love here - the intricate world of Gods, angels, witches, warlocks, merfolk, and more; the strong bonds of sisterhood and friendship she rediscovers that empower her to face her new reality; the physical and emotional pull Alexia feels toward the men who compete for her attentions; the journey of self discovery and mastery in the face of adversity from multiple fronts. I look forward to the second installment and learning along with Alexia the meaning of certain events of the first book, and getting to see where this wild ride takes us!

Wicked but in a fab way!
From the moment I read the first line, this was one of those books that I instantly knew I'd like. It had a mysterious vibe that I could not see through and I was keen to see where the story was going and how.
If you like witches and gods, steamy moments, magic and friendship, this book will definitely speak to you too. I loved that it was a new take on the topic of 'the occult' / witches - very modern without a broomstick in sight and it had some interesting powers thrown into the equation too. When it finished I was sort of surprised because it came so suddenly - and I was ready to carry on the adventure - but it was a great way to both round off one story whilst also throwing a massive cliffhanger to steer the reader towards the next book!
From here, there is no denying the many directions this story can continue in book 2 and I love that I cannot predict what will happen next! I have the feeling that this was just the beginning of Alexia Semiramis' exciting exploits and I am definitely onboard for the next venture.

Fans of the fantasy genre are in for a treat when they discover Maya Daniels’ Awakened. Al is a dissatisfied, disconnected, disenfranchised young woman who feel thoroughly outside of society. She is plagued by terrifying nightmares that detail her death in a hundred different ways, and when she has a near death event in her waking life the story ramps up with a jolt. Al is not who she thinks she is and as she is presented with information that sheds light on her past she finds that nothing is quite what it has seemed. Suddenly Al (Alexia) is thrust into a supernatural world where she holds a position of some power. Daniel does a really nice job of weaving the supernatural with the physical and I was engrossed by her descriptions of the mystical world she creates. This is a book that has powerful connotations in this age of #metoo, and the feminine is celebrated and fierce. Awakened is the first in series and build a solid foundation. I’m looking forward to seeing Alexia as she goes forward and discovers even more of her power.

I very much enjoyed Maya Daniels’ contemporary fantasy, Semiramis Awakened.

Written from the first-person point of view, the main character Al is quirky, fun, and witty with a big heart and a dry, self-deprecating sense of humour. She is wise beyond her years, which isn’t a surprise since she’s lived and died many life times.

Al thinks she a little crazy because she converses with a voice in her head. Turns out she’s not. After being in a car accident, Al awakens to find herself with new powers and memories, both of which she cannot fully access. She’s on a dangerous quest, hunted by an evil warlock and in some cases, pursued relentlessly by men.

The other characters are just as engaging, both those supporting her on her quest and the gods and other beings she encounters along the way.

The plot is twisty-turny, generally fast-paced and keeps the reader engaged. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This was a great twist to medieval mysteries and contemporary fantasy. It starts with a common trope, the tragic past. Mix in witches, friends, horrible bosses, and a good chunk of steam, and you get this urban fantasy. Alexia is a great character full of snark, wit, and a big dose of fearless determination. She speaks to the mask-wearing weariness in all of us. The plot is full of twists and turns (including flashbacks to past lives!)

I liked the magical rules in this world, and while I found the first person present perspective a little distracting at first, I eventually got used to it. I liked Remi and Jezzinta as characters, and the dialogue was realistic and gritty. “Swearing is very un-lady like”
I came across a few questionable grammar and punctuation choices, but they didn’t distract too much.

A great read.

What I love most about stories is they take you on a journey of discovery, whether it's a new love, land, world, characters, adventure, battles, villains, mystery, life, death, and everything in between. This story has it in spades. At first, I had a little trouble getting into the story, not because of the writing but the real life aspect of it. The ups and downs of life that we want to be taken away from when we read a story. The author does a great job of getting me past that feeling and drawing me further into the story. There is love not just of a man but of sisterhood, family, and growth. Adventure, mystery, and villains and an awakening in more ways than one. Bring on the next book I'm ready!

Alexia thought herself a relatively normal person dealing with the same mundane things that most people deal with, crappy neighbors, annoying co-workers, and horrible bosses, until one day she arrives at work to find that someone has been going through her office. She thinks little of it until the day progresses into worse, with a near fatal car accident that sets her on a journey of discovering whom she is meant to be.

This book is a great paranormal fantasy infused with magic, creatures, sexy scenes, and most of all, an awakening! The complex back story and magic system combined with the adventure, Wiccan beliefs, and feminine empowerment make this a delight that will keep you coming back for more!

Awakened in the Semiramis trilogy is unlike anything I've read. Unlike other books, I fell in love with this book just from reading the prologue; and I don't fall in love that quickly. It is captivating, delightfully humorous, and empowering. Tortured souls are salvaged and released by the power of love, whether it is sisterly or romantic. Each character is charming in her/his own special way. You will crave to know every detail about them, as creepy as that may sound. Pick up the book, you won't regret it. You'll wish the trilogy was an infinit-ology.

After her grandmother's death, Al struggles with nightmares, a hostile business environment and goes through life with a mask on her face. But, all changes when she goes to lunch with her boss to secure a business investment. This is the beginning of everything, or perhaps its continuation. She finds herself thrown into a dangerous world she once knew and have forgotten. Who is she really? Binding friendships, sweet romance, danger, mystery... This book has it all and it will take you on a rollercoaster ride where you will hold your breath until the end.

Alexia is a lonely woman who thinks she’s losing her mind because she is hearing voices when no one is present. She loves her job but hates her boss, who clearly can’t stand her. As the story unfolds, you learn so many things about Alexia...she has lived many lives and the love of her life is a God. But is he really good for her? She discovers that she’s a witch and has friends who love her and would die for her. This book has some sexual scenes...who doesn’t love magical sex with Gods. The story ends in a cliffhanger...there are so many questions you want answered.

This was a really exciting and interesting book, especially because so many of the characters were immortal to one extent or another! I loved all the deities, and especially the reincarnation aspect which Alexia gets to remember again. It was enjoyable seeing how Alexia’s life went from mundane and boring to exciting and unexpected as she discovers she has a bigger place in the universe after all. The writing style was gripping and made me feel like Alexia was really telling me her story. Recommended for readers who enjoy sexy urban fantasy with lots of twists.

This book had me hooked from the moment I started reading the first page! I like reading stories about witches and magic and this book is the perfect book for me!💛

This is a story about Alexia Semiramis who found out she's actually a witch. She has been hearing voices, but she thinks she's insane.
You will find a lot of myths, Gods and Goddesses, and most important - friendship and love💛

P.s I really like how it is written in Alexia's P.O.V (and man, I laughed so many times reading her thoughts). Now I'm off to read the second book!

Awakened was the first book I've read by this author, and I found it to be very intriguing. Alexia was a complex character who was tormented by her nightmares, the constant voices in her head and visions of her own death. Until, she learns the truth and that might be more frightening than she could have ever imagined. I just love magical, mysterious books that hook you in with every turn of the page. Warlocks, gods and angels are just stories, right? Wrong...

I highly recommend Awakened to anyone who loves a great fairy tale.

Maya’s first book is a good read. Complete with angels, god’s and old friends, mer-men, and reincarnation. You are dragged into the story from the start and lots of questions are asked. Luckily they are answered.
Told in first person from the mc’s point of view throughout the book, making following the story easy.
The character growth is good, development of the story follows through nicely and the friendship is really noticeable.
There is a trait of darkness, but not enough to put you off.

Worry Not, Awakened is a book that won’t put the reader to sleep.

All about the awakening of the divine feminine, “Awakened” kept me turning the pages.

I really enjoyed the story and the narrative voice and can’t wait to find out what happens as this story continues.

I’d definitely recommend this series, especially to readers who are familiar with metaphysical studies and practices or honestly, anyone who wants fairly good feminine characters who are strong-willed and genuine.

An interesting and unique premise that combines myths and legends of Gods and Goddesses, and perpetual rebirth. The fact that Al is unaware of who or what she is and discovers her past lives alongside the reader makes for an interesting voyage for the reader. Full of mysticism and magic there is also a romance element that is steamy at times. A unique and engaging story that combines real world, fantasy, and well researched myths and legends.

This is a total page turner. If it wasn’t for dumb things like working and sleeping I would have just sat back and happily devoured this in one sitting. Maya Daniels creativity and unique writing style will keep you entertained all the way to the end. Her characters are quite humorous as well. Alexis had me laughing quite a bit. Awakened was such a joy to read and I look forward to seeing what this author does next.

This was a bit out of my usual choices of genre, but I am so happy that I chose this book! This book has it all, adventure, mystery, action, romance, and so much more! I found myself drawn into the main character’s story and I couldn’t wait to read more! The main character was easy to associate with, and I found myself rooting for her many times in the book! I can’t wait to read the second book and see what happens next!

An interesting book that kept me guessing. The story starts with Al-Alexia being a frumpy overly stressed out office worker, cowed by life and fellow office workers. That confused me because later she’s an intelligent, lovely and highly desirable witch with a healthy libido. (are we talking the same person?) But the story develops with witches and Gods sharing the plot and it is an intriguing mix. Nicely done. Now I need to read the rest of the series.

"Awakened" is an engrossing book - once you start, you will not put it down until you have finished reading it! It is packed with action, mystique, myths, Gods and Goddesses, a bit of romance and magic. As Alexia starts out innocently, her adventures soon help build her confidence as she becomes an independent, intelligent and powerful character. Highly recommend for your summer reading list!

Holy….so many events. So many beings. I needed some time to relax and get away from my work so I picked up this book and in a moment I was far away, somewhere else among witches, Goddesses and a very special Alexia. Joining Alexia in her journey is pure fun and a wide scale of emotions. It’s a journey down the rabbit’s hole and you just don’t know what will happen next.

An amazing story of witchcraft, gods, angels, demons and reincarnation. Magic throughout this book is told in a realistic manner. There are some sizzling hot god scenes in there too - if Gods had talents like that witches really would be lined up. I couldn't find a single thing I didn't like about this book, although the ending left me wanting to know more. I am looking forward to book 2.

I have a confession.
When I started this book I didn’t expect to lose all connection to reality. Just as time fly by as did the pages of this book.
Brilliant world building,
The main character it’s extremely well developed and the whole adventure can keep you on your toes for the whole time.
