Daniel Arenson is a bookworm, proud geek, and USA Today bestselling author of fantasy and science fiction. His novels have sold over a million copies. The Huffington Post has called his writing "full of soul." He's written over forty novels, most of them in five series:
EARTHRISE — They came from deep space. They came to destroy us. Against the alien onslaught, Earth stands alone. But we will fight. We will rise. We will win. Start reading with Earth Alone, the first novel in this military science fiction series.
REQUIEM — Welcome to Requiem, an ancient kingdom whose people can grow wings and scales, breathe fire, and take flight as dragons. Requiem is explored in six trilogies, which can be read in any order. If you're new to Requiem, you can start reading with Requiem's Song (you can download it for free). For fans of dark, gritty fantasy like A Game of Thrones.
MOTH — Discover Moth, a world torn between day and night—its one half drenched in eternal daylight, the other cloaked in endless darkness. For fans of classic fantasy worlds such as Middle Earth and Narnia. Start reading with Moth, the first novel in this epic fantasy saga.
ALIEN HUNTERS — Got trouble with aliens? Call the Alien Hunters. A group of scruffy mercenaries, they'll remove the pest for you. Low rates. No questions asked. Start reading with Alien Hunters, the first book in this space opera series. For fans of Star Wars, Firefly, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
KINGDOMS OF SAND — Enter a world of sand and splendor, a world where gladiators battle in the arena, where legionaries and barbarians fight for glory, and where empires rise and fall.
The first several books in this series are not bad--a little black-and-white (you can spot pretty early who's going to live and who's going to die, classic horror movie rules), but overall not bad.
As we get past the first six or so books, though, the writing becomes progressively worse, almost as if the author wanted to try and tailor his prose to be more accommodating to 12-year-olds, even as he continues to display some pretty adult themes (sex, violence, even rape threats).
The characters never really seem to learn anything, they continue to agonize over the same issues, they continue to have the same internal conversations, and by about the twelfth book, everybody in the inner circle has slept with everybody else, and are constantly revisiting every decision they've ever made, even if they just made that decision a few pages ago.
My enjoyment of the series has progressively declined with each successive book, to the point that I will not buy anything further in this series.
With more and more AI in use now, well, this book gave me a mild case of the shudders.
But, have no fear. The Earth may be collapsing as every computer chip in the world turns on their human masters. Virtually every starship may be infected.
BUT! Addy Linden's father rises from the dead, so to speak, bringing with him a half-brother that Addy didn't know she had. And they have a pirate starship, powered by unhackable ancient alien technology.
And we're off and running once again.
Actually, this may be the most introspective book that I have yet to read from this author. Except maybe the previous one ... Marco, nicknamed Poet, has always been a deep one, a warrior-philosopher in every sense. But we find depths hitherto unexplored in several major characters. Even Addy!
Somewhere along the way the story has lost its sence of awe and has gone off the rails, IMHO.
The story reads like a fantacy in the following books, the creatures are more fanticical than ever and the story has lost the intamicy between the characters. I will finish the series through book 12, If there are more after that I doubt I will pick them up unless the story get real interesting again.
Loved the first 9 books, actually read them twice to pickup the 10th, this book.
This book was a little confusing to follow. It was like three stories being told at once. In the end it all makes sense and the stories come together to set the stage for the next book. I think book 10 and 11 should be put together. All that being said this book was a joy to read and it kept me interested.
Some of the warriors from the previous Earthrise books have disappeared but new ones from the next generation are coming up to take on the mantle of Earth's new defenders. The story is sometimes a comedy and others it's a terrible horror. Just like real life.
Marco and Addy gets their peace and lives happy for a few years but it all comes to a screaming halt as evil strikes again,so it’s times for war once more and they try to safe humanity again, can’t wait to read the next book. Thank you
Great to get the band back together. I love revisiting these characters. I just wish bad shit didn’t keep happening to them. But I can’t wait to see how they get themselves (and the universe) out of it this time!

There is no alien species to kill this time. That enemy was easy to see. This enemy hides in the depths of the minds consciousness. The crew is back together ready to fight again for Earth
An interesting comic read. Connects with past episodes and puts our crazy heroes back together as the fight another enemy that was introduced in their past escapades.
I liked this book and like how the other wars have taken such a toll on the characters and you can read just how tired they are now. This series is a must read.
Marco and Addy are living the dream in their own private little haven. Company's coming!
Marco's daughter by a Haven resident, Terri Emery had never met her famous father and dreamed that he would swoop down and rescue her from the miserable life she lived on Haven. A terrible plague has infested Haven, a plague of technology, a singular intelligence is born and is not happy. Capable of overpowering and consuming the technology around it, the Singularity can overwhelm and rebuild the human minds it reaches and convert them into cyborg soldiers, answerable only to the electronic mind of the Dreamer. The War is on! Technology is no longer human-friendly.
Marco and Addy have just been invaded by pirates. Their cozy home overrun by two of the scroungiest examples of grog swilling subhumans. Announcing their identities, Marco and Addy meet Addy's father, Butch, and half brother Kai. As they're greeting Addy and explaining why Butch didn't die and didn't tell them, and how Kai was Butch's son by a Thai prostitute, Terri arrives aboard oa stolen ship from Haven. Escaping from the Dreamer, she flew to Marco's for help, inadvertently bringing the Singularity with her.
The War is on! Mankind once again fights for it's continued existence, this time from it's own technology. The old gang reunites to fight for their very existence! Einav, Noah, Lailani, with the Emerys and Lindens, are humanity's last hope once more. The characters we've loved are back again, gathered around Addy's hotdog rake, plotting their course to survival.
Another excellent read from master storyteller Daniel Arensen! Get it! Read it! Love it! And review it!
